Transgender surgery regret is real

October 5, 2017

The story that the media don’t want you to hear because it blows up the liberal narrative: the head of a surgery clinic in Belgrade, Serbia, revealed his concern over the rising number of patients (all men over 30 who became transgender women) who are coming to him with regrets about undergoing gender reassignment surgery over the past five years. Many wish to reverse the procedure and report suffering “crippling levels of depression,” including suicidal thoughts. The professor said that “reversal surgery and regret in transgender persons is one of the very hot topics,” and he’s urging the medical community to do more research into it.

But therein lies the problem: even to suggest looking into that field is a defiance of the politically-correct narrative that a belief that you’re in the wrong body should be treated with surgery instead of therapy. And this doctor is already on thin ice for refusing to perform sex change surgery on patients under 18 because he’s afraid of what might happen to their minds five or ten years later. One British university already banned medical researchers from looking into any negative aftermath of such surgeries for fear of being attacked on social media.

Science, including medical science, is supposed to be based on the pure pursuit of truth, wherever it may lead. Activists are doing transgender patients no favors by blocking doctors from learning more about their condition because the truth might be politically incorrect. Before cutting off patients’ body parts, let’s make sure they also haven’t been cut off from vital information.

Mike, when you use language like "cutting off patients body parts", it shows how little you know on the subject. A 5 minute google search will tell you the basics which it appears you're not aware of. Check them, do your research, and only then write on the subject. Till then you're just going of opinion and gut feeling on the subject.

    Marjorie

Johns Hopkins did stop. They have a new gender clinic and are doing trans gender surgeries because in they found that they were wrong 40 years ago.

I had heard that Johns Hopkins had stopped doing that surgery because they found it didn't solve the problems. It actually exacerbated them.

Transgender surgery is wrong on so many levels. Sexual identity is programmed into every cell of one's body. Rebellion against one's created nature is really a mental illness as well as a refusal to accept what God has created for you. To promote the idea that a child can be whichever sex it chooses is to create untold problems for that young person.
