Chelsea Clinton update

July 13, 2017 12:00 AM

Chelsea Clinton is being sued for $150,000 for allegedly plagiarizing her latest children’s book, “She Persisted.” It’s a feminist-oriented book about women in history who overcame sexist oppression, and ironically, she’s accused of ripping it off from a male author, Albany-based Christopher Janes Kimberley. Kimberley claims he put months of painstaking research into a book he pitched to Penguin Publishing, and was shocked when just a few months later, they brought out Clinton’s book, which uses the same idea and some of the exact same quotes, except it reads like a ninth-grade homework assignment thrown together in...uh...a few months.

To be fair, plagiarism is tough to prove. Authors sometimes legitimately come up with the same idea. He’ll have to convince a jury that Chelsea Clinton unfairly benefited by having something lucrative handed to her on a silver platter by a large organization just because her last name was Clinton.

Tucker has a stopwatch

July 13, 2017 12:00 AM

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson put a stopwatch to the media’s feeding frenzy over Donald Trump Jr’s. 10-month old pointless meeting with a Russian lawyer to show that there must not have been any other news anywhere in the world yesterday. He found that 93% of Wednesday’s CNN morning show was devoted to (I feel like a “Brady Bunch” rerun) “Russia! Russia! Russia!” CNN spent 2 hours and 16 minutes on Russia, 8 minutes on health care reform (which genuinely affects every American) and 2 minutes on sports.

In case you tuned it out (and I can’t imagine why you’d do that), here’s everything you really need to know about it, summed up in five short points. And then, back to the real world…

Hawaii joins California

July 13, 2017 12:00 AM

Hawaii (which on a map and in other ways is even further left than California) just followed California in passing a law that forces pro-life pregnancy centers to inform patients that the state will provide them with free abortions and how to apply for one. The centers could face heavy fines if they refuse to violate their consciences and promote state-funded abortions.

Considering that at least one Hawaiian pro-life pregnancy center is an offshoot of a church, this encroaches on both free speech and freedom of religion, so it’s already being challenged in courts. Similar laws around the country have been struck down, but the California law was upheld by the (surprise!) Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Sooner or later, the Supreme Court will have to rule on this. Sooner would be good, but if later means after President Trump appoints a replacement for Anthony Kennedy, that would be fine, too.

As you were...

July 13, 2017 12:00 AM

Crank up the liberal media outrage machine! According to a new insider tell-all, the White House staff is rife with sexist, frat “bro” behavior. The President curses and makes crude anatomical jokes while his all-white, all-male speechwriters openly boast about using their powerful positions to target women for sex!

It’s horrifying! It’s outrageous! There should be investigations, firings, impeachment proceedings!...

Oh, wait: you say this was the OBAMA White House staff?

Never mind, then, as you were…
