DAILY BIBLE VERSE
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matthew 28:19
China’s message: We have you between a balloon and a hard place
“There are plenty of places we could have taken that balloon down. The biggest risk would’ve been hitting a cow, a prairie dog or an antelope.” --- Montana Sen. Steve Daines
By suggesting that the government had to wait till the balloon was over water to avoid damage from falling debris, the government has once again insulted our intelligence by expecting us to swallow a preposterous lie. It was also a preposterous lie, refuted by a slew of Trump administration officials --- even John Bolton --- that President Trump also faced incursions by Chinese spy balloons and chose not to do anything. (If there were Chinese balloons that went undetected at the time, that is a different very serious problem.) This incident isn’t about Trump. STOP LYING.
The NEW YORK POST editorial board agrees…
https://nypost.com/2023/02/06/
Mike Pompeo finds Biden’s inability to act “confounding...totally unexplainable.” (I’m not sure it can’t be explained, but go with him here.) What if there had been explosives aboard that the Chinese could have detonated themselves? “Just imagine that,” he told Sean Hannity, “if you knew that, and you still let it go and the Chinese could decide where to drop this thing? I think they didn’t understand risk. The risk to the United States was this balloon transiting.” Plus, allowing the world to see this being done to us, he said, “hurts our geopolitical standing in ways that...are as devastating as what happened to 13 Americans who were killed in Afghanistan. Our friends don’t trust us...and our adversaries aren’t going to fear us if we allow things like this to happen.”
We easily could have shot the balloon down when it first entered our airspace, as far west as the Aleutian Islands, on Day One of its four-day journey across our country. But Spineless Joe didn’t dare. He wouldn’t risk angering our Chinese overlords, so he committed a pathetic national security blunder that happened in slow motion over four days. Whether or not they sent the balloon to commit espionage --- it seems to have been some pretty low-tech espionage, but who knows? -- they also sent it to make that point. They KNEW Biden wouldn’t shoot it down. This was a test they knew he would fail. China owns us.
Too strong? Don’t think so.
The Chinese, through companies such as Huawei, literally own thousands of acres of our farm and ranch land, much of it near U.S. Air Force bases in (yes) Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming and Texas. As FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr has said of a trip he made several years ago to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, “There are cell towers all around those Montana missile fields that have been running on Huawei equipment.”
China expert Gordon Chang sees danger, and he says they should not own American land, period. “China has stepped up its espionage activities against sensitive military facilities,” he said. As for the land purchases, he said, “Whether this is actually part of a plan or not, these purchases are suspiciously close to sensitive military facilities and therefore shouldn’t be allowed.” He wants to see a nationwide ban on Chinese land purchases, but it’s hard to see how that can possibly happen during Biden’s administration. Chang especially doesn’t want them owning land that’s used in food production. Land they’ve already purchased should have it “expropriated with compensation, or, if there was criminal activity, forfeiture statutes should be used to take it away.”
If there’s anything good about the appearance in our skies of this surveillance balloon, it’s that lawmakers will push harder for bans on Chinese agricultural purchases in their states. In Montana, they have Senate Bill 203, which prevents adversarial nations from purchasing agricultural land and critical infrastructure.
Other states should follow with similar legislation. Texas can and should lead the way. After a Chinese company owned by a former Chinese soldier with ties to the CCP purchased 130,000 acres near Laughlin Air Force Base, a pilot training center in Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans are working on a restriction in their state on Chinese citizens and businesses buying property.
At the federal level, there are bills in both the Senate and House that would do this, specifically for agricultural land. Of course, once they get something passed, it lands on Biden’s desk, right next to his veto pen. Oh, well.

Speaking of the House, Democrat Rep. Judy Chu of California was appointed in 2019 as honorary chair of what the DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION reports is an alleged Chinese Communist Party intelligence front group called the Forums for Peaceful Reunification of China, which opposes an independent Taiwan. There are 33 such anti-Taiwan independence groups in the U.S., all subchapters of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification (CCPPNR).
That group is “directly subordinate” to the United Front Work Department (UFWD), whose primary missions are apparently to “liaison with foreign political parties,” “influence operations,” and “intelligence collection.” The CCP deploys UFWD operatives globally to “co-opt and neutralize” potential opposition groups such as “ethnic minorities, religious groups and intellectuals.”
The UFWD reportedly is an intel operation linked to the Los Angeles Chinese Consulate and other groups in Southern California tied to the CCP. You’ll find more details about the organization and Rep. Chu in this eye-opening article…
According to her bio, Rep. Chu serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the Small Business Committee and House Budget Committee. (We half-expected to see her on the Foreign Affairs Committee; she’s not, though she chairs the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, which “advocates for the needs of the Asian and Pacific Islander community across the nation.”) She was, very laudably, the first Chinese woman elected to Congress, in 2009, which sadly means any criticism of her activities relating to China and Taiwan will be called racist when it is not.
Dan Bongino, after a rough weekend recuperating from elbow surgery, was in no mood on Monday to excuse this national security nightmare, which he sees as symptomatic of the corner our nation has been painted into. Bottom line, he said: “You have been entirely sold out by your government.” To China, and to other places, too. This balloon --- and the timing of it, days before Secretary of State Tony Blinken was set to go to China to meet President Xi --- was an in-your-face message from China saying, “We own you idiots.” It just “magically floats into the United States,” for everyone to see, flying over our strategic military and nuclear facilities.
He sees this paralysis as a direct result of President Biden and his family being compromised by the CCP. “They own this guy.”
They own: Biden, some members of Congress and the Senate and their staffers (maybe some Republicans, too), some in the FBI (this is emerging through the testimony of indicted former FBI agent Charles McGonigal), businesses (huge investment and tech firms, entertainment and news media, pro sports), pension money, universities (Confucius Project, think tanks such as [yes] the Penn Biden Center), and now the military/airspace. Bongino quotes Bill Gates: “I tend to see China’s rise as a huge win for the world.” They’re 20 percent of humanity, Gates says, and their portion of the global economy precisely matches their portion of the global population. We, in contrast, have a “disproportionate share.” And BlackRock’s Larry Fink finds democracies “very messy” compared to totalitarian governments, with “opinions changing back and forth.”
To Bongino, it’s looking as if China “owns everything.” “Everybody’s making money in the China bank,” he said. And, again, if you ask any questions, you’ll be accused of anti-Asian bias. But it’s not anti-Asian. It’s anti-COMMUNIST.
This isn’t one of Bongino’s more uplifting podcasts --- just the opposite, kind of like Victor Davis Hanson’s bucket-of-ice-water wake-up call --- but if you like your truth raw-edged as opposed to sanded and varnished, please check this out.
Biden's State of the Union
Up to that point, I’m going to be forced to endure the kind of speech that you could only swallow if you’ve lived the past few years with a virtual reality headset on, cut off from reality, or watching nothing but CNN and MSNBC (same thing.) I think Newt Gingrich nailed it when he said it’s going to be a fantasy speech from an alternate reality. And that fantasy will begin with the words, “The state of our union is strong.” No, unfortunately, it’s not. Thanks to this Administration’s radical divisive policies, we’re struggling just to remain a union.
Judging by Biden’s previous public statements, it’s going to be a Democrat campaign speech, with precisely the level of honesty that suggests. We’re going to hear him boast of how his brilliant policies and “economic plan” (showering trillions of borrowed dollars on cronies and donors) have created a record 10 million jobs, including over half a million just in January, while bringing down inflation and gas prices.
(For those just taking off the virtual reality sets: gas is still about a dollar a gallon more expensive than when he took office, although it is down from the all-time record highs it hit in his first year. Inflation is down a bit from his first year, but nothing’s getting less expensive, it’s just getting more expensive at a slightly slower rate. And this month’s inflation is added on top of the previous year’s inflation. Even that number is misleading since anyone who goes to a grocery store knows that many items don’t cost 16% more than in 2020, they cost twice as much or more. And even the current “lower” inflation rate is still almost three times what it was under Trump. Finally, the jobs: reopening an artificially shut-down economy and letting people go back to work is NOT “creating jobs.” Also, the January numbers included many jobs that aren’t new jobs at all but jobs marked for layoffs that got delayed.)
And of course, we’ll hear that he could solve the border problems if only the Republicans would stop fighting him. That would be the open border that he deliberately created by unilaterally reversing all the Trump policies that were working. And his “solution” is “comprehensive immigration reform,” or legalizing the record numbers of illegal migrants who’ve entered in defiance of our immigration laws that he’s sworn to enforce. I also expect to hear some reminders of "the darkest day in American history" (January 6th) and semi-fascist “MAGA Republicans” as red meat (or more appropriately, organic tofu) for his base.
And I expect to hear a lot of promises about how any problems that still remain (like that baby formula parents have been trying to find for two years now) will be solved, and then nothing whatsoever will be done to solve them. How do I know? Because that’s exactly what he did last year. See for yourself:
Speaker McCarthy has far too much class and respect for the office to rip up his copy of the speech on TV, the way Nancy Pelosi did with Trump. But if Republicans want to create a perfect visual image to convey their opinion of this presidency without making a sound or a rude gesture, a friend of one of my writers had a great suggestion: they should all arrive for the speech holding a white helium balloon on a string.
If the Capitol Police refuse to let them bring the balloons in due to “safety and security concerns,” the admission that Biden is scared of a balloon would speak volumes.
ABC News Poll: 41% of Americans are worse off financially under Biden
Here’s something I doubt will be mentioned in Biden’s State of the Union speech: a new ABC News/Washington Post poll found that 41% of Americans say they’re worse off financially since Biden became President, the most since this poll began 37 years ago. Here’s my question: Only 41%?!
The same poll found that just 16% say they’re better off financially since Biden became President (do we really have that many fentanyl dealers?) It also found that Biden’s overall approval rating is a low 42%, including 37% approval on his handling of the economy and 28% on border security. Sixty percent of Democrats want another candidate in 2024, and 62% of Americans would be disappointed or even angry if he were reelected.
Still, that doesn’t mean Republicans will have it easy. The current frontrunner is Donald Trump, and this poll shows him leading Biden but by only 48-44 percent, with half of Republicans preferring another candidate. Interestingly, the only other President with an approval rating lower than Biden’s at this point was Trump, at 37%. But Trump had the Deep State working 24/7 to undermine him with false narratives like the Russia collusion hoax, and the media blasting him constantly with 95% negative coverage. Biden has a media so sycophantic, if he stops short, they’ll bump their noses on his behind, and he’s only at 42%.
It’s encouraging to see that many people are finally waking up to how badly they've been misled, but the fact that 44 percent of Americans would still prefer Biden’s expensive chaos and failure to the strength, security and prosperity we had under Trump tells us that some people would rather suffer than admit they were hoodwinked.
Terrorist released from Gitmo and sent to Belize
While everyone was distracted by that big, shiny balloon last week, the Biden Administration quietly released terrorist Majid Khan from Gitmo after 16 years in CIA Custody, sending him to Belize.
Khan became radicalized after 9/11 and transported and delivered money to senior al-Qaeda terrorists in advance of an attack on a Marriott Hotel in Indonesia that killed 10 people. He had been tasked with attacking US gas stations and water reservoirs when he was arrested. He claims he was tortured in CIA black sites.
Upon his release, he put out a statement saying, “I deeply regret the things that I did many years ago, and I have taken responsibility and tried to make up for them. I continue to ask for forgiveness from God and those that I have hurt. I am truly sorry.” He said he’s changed and promised “all of you, especially the people of Belize, that I will be a productive, law-abiding member of society.”
Let’s hope that’s all true. I assume Belize officials will be monitoring that promise closely.
Omar continues incendiary talk
Rep. Ilhan Omar continues to make the kind of divisive, incendiary and flat-out slanderous statements that got her rightfully kicked off the House Foreign Affairs Committee. At least this time, it wasn’t anti-Semitic. But she did declare that Republicans don’t believe Muslims or black people should have equal access to the legal system.
As a Republican, I can assure you that there’s not a word of truth in that. However, I can think of one black Muslim Congresswoman who shouldn’t have access to a microphone until she learns how to say something that's not just an incitement.
Least Surprising News of the Day
A Washington University study found that the typical “diversity training” session police officers are forced to take is “unlikely to change police behavior.”
https://phys.org/news/2023-02-
I get the feeling that the typical diversity training that everybody is forced to take is unlikely to change anyone’s behavior, aside from allowing diversity training consultants to drive a Mercedes.
Townhall.com: Adam Schiff is exploiting Tyre Nichols death
Interesting article from Derek Hunter at Townhall.com about how Adam Schiff is cynically exploiting the death of Tyre Nichols as a fundraising tool and helping a radical organization that’s actually making black neighborhoods less safe.
They know not what they do
I wrote yesterday about the production number at the Grammy Awards for a song called “Unholy” that was practically a commercial for perversion and Satanism. Many conservative commentators also remarked on it, some not to express outrage but to point out how tired, boring and predictable this obvious attempt to spark outrage was. One noted the irony that these Hollywood hedonists express OUTRAGE every day on Twitter over everything normal working Americans do, say and believe; then they deliberately try to provoke outrage from regular Americans and get yawns in response.
I can see their point, but it’s not appropriate to turn a blind eye to the active promotion of sexual perversion and Satanism to young people. We should condemn the acts, but also pray for the people performing them, for they know not what they do. I pray that they have a literal “come to Jesus” moment before they discover that that simulation of Hell they depicted so gleefully on stage was nothing compared to the real thing.
Here’s an article by someone who gets just how dangerous this is, and who also highlights that CBS wasn’t even trying to hide the fact that their network was openly promoting Satan worship.
Speaking of all that fake outrage and frantic woke virtue-signaling occasionally interrupted by something that might or might not sound like music, the media is trumpeting the news that ratings for this year’s Grammys surged 30% from last year to 12.4 million viewers. As John Nolte observes at Breitbart.com, that sounds impressive until you realize that it used to draw 40 million viewers and as recently as 2020, it had 18.7 million viewers, which at the time was an all-time low and considered a disaster.
I’m assuming the producer said, “I’d sell my soul to Satan for higher ratings,” and this was the best deal he could get.
Related: While CBS boasts of putting a Satan-promoting singer in a red S&M outfit with devil horns on national TV, a pastor was ordered to remove his “Jesus Saves” T-shirt by security at Minnesota’s Mall of America (he’d previously been banned from handing out fliers with Bible verses on them.) The guards told him his only options were to leave or go shopping shirtless. As one officer allegedly put it to him, “Jesus is associated with religion, and it’s offending people. People have been offended.”
Well, we can’t ever have anyone being offended, can we? Were any of those people by chance wearing red S&M suits and devil horns?
I can only imagine how offended they were when several hundred people showed up at the mall to support religious freedom, all of them wearing “Jesus saves” T-shirts.
I JUST WANTED TO SAY:
