Today's Commentary:  Chasing the Roadrunner -- Planned Parenthood strikes again-- Van Jones agrees with President Trump -- Blatant bias a reality -- CNN's excuse

The Democrats are starting to remind me of the dog that constantly chased cars until he caught one, then he didn’t know what to do with it. They’ve turned themselves into cartoons of the most rabid 1950s-style anti-Russia Cold Warriors, demanding a special counsel to chase down even the slightest hint of collusion with Russia – as long as they thought it would undermine and hamstring President Trump, block his agenda, delegitimize his election victory, or – the Holy Grail – uncover an impeachable offense! Well, after a year of investigations, and after they finally got their special counsel who’s been staffing up with expensive lawyers at taxpayer expense, we’re finally starting to uncover some actual evidence of collusion with Russia. Only it points at Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and their people, not Trump or his aides.

But there’s still the hope of pinning “obstruction of justice” on Trump, for his non-attempts to end the investigation of nothing. After all, we now are seeing real evidence of an attempt at obstructing an investigation of felony offenses at the highest levels. Only – oops! – that comes from the Obama era, too. At the link, a good article from American Thinker that sums up the malfeasance Democrats never imagined might bubble to the surface when they were running around screaming for more investigations.

Come to think of it, the Democrats aren’t like a dog chasing cars. They’re more like Wile E. Coyote, who was so obsessed with chasing the Roadrunner that he ran right off the edge of a cliff.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Planned Parenthood strikes again

By Mike Huckabee

Another great moment in “women’s health care”: A Minnesota woman who sought an abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic in St. Paul claims she asked what would happen if the baby were born alive, and they told her they didn’t usually tell patients this, but the doctor would break its neck. That would represent a pioneering new field in “choice,” the post-birth abortion, or as it’s known legally, “murder.” The woman says she was so disturbed, she left, despite the staffers’ aggressive efforts to convince her she’d be doing the right thing by having an abortion, as if they were trying to sell her something (hint: they were.)

Van Jones agrees with President Trump

By Mike Huckabee

As expected, CNN reacted to James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas hidden camera expose (in which a CNN producer was caught saying that everyone there knew the Trump/Russia collusion story was bull-BLEEP, but it was good for business) by trying to brush it off. The network claimed he was just a news producer, not a political news producer. As if that means he never talks to his colleagues.

But just as predictably, O’Keefe already had his next expose teed up and ready to go. This one shows former Obama adviser and now top CNN political commentator Van Jones telling an undercover reporter that the Russia story is a “nothing burger.”

I’m anxiously awaiting the response to this video by CNN: “Van who?...”

Blatant bias a reality

By Mike Huckabee

Daniel Greenfield of Frontpage Magazine offers an owner’s manual on “How CNN’s Fake News Machine Ran.” It traces, step-by-step, how the network built up its ratings by pandering to the Trump Derangement Syndrome demographic with conspiracy fairy tales and hit pieces, based on anonymous “sources” leaking unsubstantiated insider gossip for partisan motives.

Yesterday, I made a passing joke about how one of the three reporters who…ahem, ”resigned”…from CNN following the $100 million defamation lawsuit threat by a Trump ally had (of course!) come there from the New York Times. This story reveals that he hadn’t just worked at the Times: he was “at the forefront” of the effort to connect Trump to Russia. So that really is why CNN hired him. One of his first stories for CNN was that James Comey would refute Trump’s claim that he’d been told three times that he wasn’t under investigation – which turned out to be true, and CNN had to issue a correction. His next story was so phony, it had to be completely retracted before it got CNN sued into bankruptcy. But remember: CNN hired him precisely because he wrote stories like that.

This is why it’s so hard to make jokes these days. No matter how hard you try to exaggerate the blatant bias of the media to laughable absurdity, you can’t outdo reality.

CNN's excuse

By Mike Huckabee

CNN is now trying to blame the negative reaction to their journalistic sins on the man whom they destroyed their own reputation trying to ruin. According to an interview between CNN's Senior International Correspondent Clarissa Ward and liberal “journalist” Chris Cillizza, the criticism by President Trump and his staff and supporters of all the fake news hit pieces on him is “dangerous” because it’s emboldening people in war zones to attack reporters.

I thought this sounded awfully familiar, and it finally hit me: CNN is trying to use the Kathy Griffin defense. They both got caught red-handed (Griffin, literally), launching off-base, inappropriate attacks on President Trump. When they rightly got called on their indefensible behavior, both Griffin and CNN tried to claim that they were the real victims, and it was all Trump’s fault for sparking a backlash against them by criticizing them for doing what they should have known not to do in the first place. Let’s hope this feeble excuse works just as well for CNN as it did for Kathy Griffin. Because, ironically, it didn’t save her from getting fired…by CNN!
