Well, that was quicker than a supersonic jet. Tom Price is out as HHS Secretary, tendering his resignation just days after news broke that he’d cost taxpayers between $400,000 and $1 million in private and charter jet travel. The final straw for President Trump reportedly came when Price, after promising to fully reimburse taxpayers, offered only $51,000, the cost of his seats, but not those of all the aides forced to accompany him. It gave a double meaning to the phrase, “The Price Is Wrong.” He’d also reportedly asked about reopening his agency’s executive dining room, closed since the last Bush Administration. That sort of thing undermine’s Trump’s vow to cut waste and stop the squandering of taxpayers’ money.

There will inevitably be those who’ll use Price’s quick ouster to attack Trump, accusing him of having a “chaotic” Administration, etc. But others may find it refreshing to see that Trump is willing to fire one of his Cabinet picks for traveling on private jets, which was fairly common among such Obama staffers as Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Leon Panetta and Robert Mueller, and barely noticed by the media. Of course, Nancy Pelosi is notorious for treating military jets as her family’s private Uber service. And under Obama, officials from the IRS to the VA to the DOJ often seemed to deserve not just firing but jail, yet Obama stood by them. Some, we’re still trying to pry out of office.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Las Vegas shooting

By Mike Huckabee

Our prayers this morning are with the victims of what appears to be the worst mass shooting in US history, and with their families. Last night in Las Vegas, a sniper opened fire on the crowd at a country music festival outside the Mandalay Bay Hotel. At this writing, at least 50 people are believed dead and over 200 wounded. That makes the death toll even higher than last year’s attack in an Orlando nightclub that killed 49 people.

Las Vegas Police say the shooter was killed. He has been identified as local resident Stephen Paddock, 64. He’s not known to have connections to any radical group, and at this moment, his motivations are unknown. This is a breaking story. Keep watch on the news for more information as it comes in.

Congressional math

By Mike Huckabee

I know stories about the federal budget make most people’s eyes glaze over, but this one is worth passing along. It’s a Republican budget resolution that would pave the way for tax reform by allowing $1.5 trillion in deficits over the next 10 years, accompanied by $5.1 trillion in spending cuts. Here’s the part that might raise eyebrows: the spending cuts would not kick in right away, but come later. Gee, where have we heard that before? From every previous Congress and countless teenagers seeking allowance increases.

Private jet woes

By Mike Huckabee

New White House rule, following HHS Secretary Tom Price’s resignation: if you want to take a private jet, you have to clear it with Chief of Staff John Kelly first. I can just imagine Education Secretary Betsy DeVos raising her hand and asking, “Does that include people who are taking their own private jets?”

Oprah for President 2020

By Mike Huckabee

Some people think Oprah Winfrey is the Democrats’ best hope as a winning presidential candidate in 2020. Why not? “You get a free car! And YOU get a car! And YOU get a car!” is pretty much the entire Democratic Party platform.

I'm learning how democrats think. The reason Hillary is screaming for gun control is because someone keeps killing witnesses willing to testify against her corruption. Makes perfect sense to me.

The democrats have a habit of accusing others of some sin out of the blue. If we wait a minute...and that indiscretion will show up in their activities, but calling them on it then sounds defensive. THIS pattern of projecting a 'sin' on others to keep from being held accountable is common. Almost as much as the slight of hand that continues---making noise and confusion with one hand to keep others from looking at the other hand. I believe the idiotic behavior of Hillary is a massive smoke screen to keep what is happening with the foundation and Chelsea and Bill out of sight. Does no one see this??? She is evil----not the dumbbunny she projects.
