    Mr. Huckabee,
I am also disappointed in your stance on Common Core. I would have never expected it from you. I have been reading and learning about this along with thousands of other parents and educators, and we feel this is NOT what our Children need. I think you need to Read the Standards Before you agree with them. Don't you think Parents should have the Right to have input in their Child's education? With Common Core we will not.
I do know in my state our former governor and superintendent of public schools signed us on without any parents or legislators knowing about it. No vote, nothing. Why? For money? A lot of parents and educators would like some answers.

Yesterday, one of the topics was the changes to the rules allowing access to the morning after pill. I think the primary reason it shouldn't be allowed is that it is interference in the parent/child relationship while the parent is still legally responsible for the child. However Gov. Huckabee, in an effort to dismiss a suggestion by a caller that the morning after pill might help reduce teenage pregnancy, stated that the teen birth rate had been on the rise since the 1950's. This appears to be in error. The most thorough stats on this I can find are on the CDC website and it shows teen pregnancy to have peaked in 1957 and has been on a downward trend since. There have been some other rises, but the last year for which they show stats, 2010, both the rate and absolute numbers were at a record low since they started keeping stats in the 1920's. In addition, while out-of-wedlock births have been dramatically on the rise since the 1970, the out-of-wedlock birth rate to teens is basically unchanged.

Concerning the Morning after pill- just wondering why children under the age of concent in most states will have access to this pill. Seems like most states would prosecute some one for having sex with a 15 y/o but the federal government will allow either the child or the person who wants to cover up their crime the ability to " eliminate the evidence" with this pill! Even Federal Law states the age of concent is 16. California and NY the age is 18. Why is our Government able to makes laws that contradict? Same thing in issues with Marijuana. I want the Federal Government out of my family and allow my State to make my laws at least I have a better chance of being heard. Our Federal system was not set up to run this way. The overreaching needs to be stopped. How do you stop this and force it to only deal with the items listed in the Constitution ?

Governor, I was not able to listen to your show today but I did see on a Facebook page that you said you see nothing wrong with Common Core. I have the utmost respect for you but I implore you to look into Common Core further. I can't imagine my daughter having to write a report on the "positive aspects" of Jihad and Islam or her being taught that the tragedy of 9/11 was America's fault. This curriculum is also "dummying down" our children. My daughter was tested before Common Core and was reading at a 5th grade level (she's 9), then tested using Common Core standards and is being told she now reads at an 8th grade level. She's smart, but she's not at an 8th grade level. Please look into this further Governor. Thank you.
