“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

Mike I am just heartbroken for what happened today. I have always been a Trump supporter and I will continue to be one. I am so disappointed that both houses will be Democratic. What in the world will happen? I’m afraid. I don’t like the idea of Socialism. I don’t think the violence was done by Trump supporters. I think the Trump supporters were infiltrated by BLM and antifa. I really think that the 2020 Election was stolen by the Democrats. Today was less violent then what the BLM and antifa did this past year. I am hoping by praying to God that everything will be okay.

Four years we have listened to politicians in the Democratic party hate speeches for Trump...Impeach 45, If you see these Trump supporters get in their face, then riots, burning of cities, watching statues get destroyed..and yet we did Nothing. Then we love and believe in Pres.Trump..we voted big and we won. The fraud wasn't fake like the news..reports came in and we saw witnessed and said Trump will be proven right. Not one Republican Rhino, stood up for We the People..But boy they stood against the best President ever. All this time we watched and waited, while a theif BIDEN made plans for his PRESIDENCY!! And the Dems floated and set the stage for today, they had it coming for We have had enough being patient. Wow and its Trump's fault are you kidding A man who Made America Great, a man who listened to our needs..he caused violence?? Mike thought I knew you better but just like all one more against a President who was the thin line for not
    becoming a socialist/ Communist country??

It was NOT TRUMP SUPPORTERS that committed the violence, it WAS ANTIFA GOONS dressed in Trump garb. YOU, of all people, SHOULD KNOW THIS! You disappoint me tremendously in ASSUMING something that is NOT TRUE. I've had enough of people such as you turning coat and condemning people when you have no facts to support what you say. Maybe you should read twitter posts that ANTIFA GOONS posted admitting what they did, and the ones 'telling others' to dress up as PATRIOTS and commit violence. You've disappointed me for the last time, you are no better than the DIMTARDS that caused all of this.

I viewed a video posted by someone who was there today and this person claims that Antifa supporters with Maga hats infiltrated the crowd and caused this chaos. I don’t believe solid supporters resorted to this destruction. It was never their style of protesting

Im saddened and embarrassed that the Patriots acted so badly at the Capital today.
We are the party of law and order and we need to keep control of how we act. Tomorriw is a new day and as mad and angry as we get at the news media and individuals making derogatory remarks about Trump we need to move on and put this behind us.The best thing we can do is start praying for each other and yes thatme the Democrats included.Pray tha God will guide and direct thise in power willmake the right decisions. Also, pray earnestly that all the corruption will be brought out into the open and all those responsible will face the consequences. Pray that Americas enemies that arehete in America will leave this great country.Pray that America will emerge victorious from the snare of communism and socialism.
    GOD BLESS THE USA

It is a sad day to see some irrational extremists in this country not follow the rule of laws and try to push the Constitution to the cliff’s edge. This hurt those 74 million patriotic Americans that wanted to have their voices heard in a way that is legal and helped exposed the corruption in our voting process that has been apparent for decades.
The most alarming harm done to the many Trump supporters and this new movement to become a much larger inclusive political party has been detrimental beyond repair. This had occurred over the past two weeks with the final climax being this mob assault on the Capital which really rests at the feet of President Trump.

Today's attack on the Capitol breaks my heart. I will not abandon President Trump. He did not intend this anarchy. Just like every other thing he's been wrongfully blamed for in the last 4 years, this appears to me like set-up, paid-for, planned-for violence.
Democrat/liberals/media are scared to death of his influence on our country.
May be some misguided Trump people involved, but not all! We don't go to a patriotic rally with ropes, helmets, and attack police. I hope we find out who the offenders were. Will we ever be told the truth about that? They should go to jail for a long time!

One channel interviewed a representative from Oklahoma who responded to questions about the riot. He made an interesting statement that it appeared that A FEW very agitated people were apparently driving the violence. I think this is evidenced by the relative few trespassers out of the crowd of thousands. Then of course there were pretty quickly Facebook posts of antifa people posing as Trump supporters. Is this just nonsense OR is there something to it. It saddens me quite a bit that President Trump did not seem to anticipate any of this happening, still had the "rally" on this date, thus disrupting and probably eliminating any chance of the possible fraud being exposed. Very disappointing to say the least.

I am a Trump supporter but I am not aghast. I am deeply saddened that it has had to come to this but I believe it is necessary. Given the enormity of the crowd, in my opinion the “violence” was minimal compared to the liberal violence we saw this summer. No buildings were set on fire, no looting too place, no law enforcement officers were attacked or injured. Further, this is not inexcusable! The corruption and injustice we have been seeing since Obama’s presidency is what is inexcusable. The fact nothing is done about it is inexcusable. This is just the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back.

Trump is fighting for Arkansas, fighting for America, and fighting for us! He has fought from day 1 and we are tired of being lied to, bullied, and censored by democrats. Democrats have proven to be liars and thugs and have self proclaimed that they would resist at all cost, and they have done this over the entire Trump Presidency, our Presidency.
When they attack Trump, they have attacked us! Now, we have our guard up! We are ready for a fight! They have gone too far.

The only way to end this is to listen and act fairly. The only way to end this is to treat all Americans fairly and understand that a "wrong" may have been done and investigate that wrong, investigate the fraud claims until all sides are happy. Otherwise, it will not end well.

President Trump could indeed have been tougher -- at the same time it's doubtful his supporters would have been so violent . . .maybe some so-called friends came along to do damage . .or whoever(?). Some in the next county over left on buses this morning, from Ohio . .not a chance they and most would disrespect, let alone be destructive in the U.S. Capitol. Continuing to pray -as Jesus taught.

This is Anarchy too, terrorism, Sedition. Never should this happen by any one! I hope these Thugs are not real Republicans. The Republican Party is damaged greatly by this and yes, the President's continued insistence on his Stolen Election contributed if it is not the entire cause. We have to fess up. It finally went wayyyy to far with incensed people ready to seize the Capitol. What were they really planning to do? Present it to President Trump. This is definitely a blemish on us. God save us! Only You can.

None of this would have happen if the Supreme Court would have intervened and looked at the facts. There is so much evidence showing that the election was rigged. Lucifer has been working over time.

Agree this is unacceptable however I am not surprised that at least some of us are so completely frustrated at the blind eyes that have been held to the obvious shenanigans in this election have reached this level of anger the Dems need to take this as a warning that things could much worse if they try to pursue their radical agenda

Agreed it's gone to far. This is the result of making people think this would be over turned which there was never that possibility. They we're there because of that and now a young women is dead for absolutely no reason.
This is over it's time for Trump to leave. Just pack up and leave. I'm afraid after today he's not winnable in 2024 either. This will hurt him forever now and there's no going back now. I supported him in both the elections but after the way this was handled I won't again.

Yes, I am aghast at this, and totally condemn every bit of it, but before we start criticizing President Trump, perhaps we need to start asking some hard questions:

Why was security so light at the Capitol, especially on such a day as this with 200,000 people in town? Why did they willingly allow these people to shove their way through the door to the Capitol? Any government building anywhere has increased security over the last few decades, but these people were allowed to shove their way into the United States Capitol in this tense/divided political atmosphere we have today? Why did they shoot this lady, who witnesses say, was doing nothing to warrant it, while helmet-headed people were behaving violently and climbing walls, etc? BTW, Why were any of them wearing helmets and black outfits, something MAGA people never do? How could Trump hold massive rallies with 50,000 people time after time w/o a hint of violence, and suddenly, this happens at this time? Why did the crowd suddenly turn violent after being peaceful all day? Why were some wearing their MAGA hat backwards, just as was called for in tweets telling thugs to infiltrate the rally and cause trouble? Why were there tweets and comments about violence before there was a hint of any violence occurring? How convenient that this happened two weeks before Trump leaves office, so that his legacy and all he's done for America will go into the dustbin of history. Something is WAY too fishy here IMO, and as much as I'm one of your biggest fans, Mike, I'm a little disappointed in your comments. Trump gets blamed for absolutely everything and anything. This has the same orchestrated and planned feel as the election did.

This election is a sham. I am totally disgusted with the senate and congress. No integrity at all. Re-election is all they work for, not the needs of their constituents! God help us!

  • Guy Bruce Hicklin

    01/06/2021 11:27 PM

I don't disagree that the violence is wrong but the problem is that no one is willing to take a stand against a stolen election except President Trump. It is a shame what this is doing to his legacy, specifically being the only person to hold the office of president who actually did what he campaigned he would do, only to be vehemently criticized by both parties. Are we not once again becoming a nation governed without representation? A corrupt election is the same as a coup, we call this out in third world countries around the world, now we have experienced it in our own country and our response is to "trust the government". We are reaping what we have sown, God help us.

I am extremely disappointed in the WEAK GOP...they don't care that almost half of the people believe that the election was fraudulent. It is quite possible that the 'violent' protest was infiltrators. One video I saw on FB appeared that the police were allowing a group to enter the Capitol. If there is going to be tyranny by the left and the weak GOP, then it is time for the conservatives to rise up and go to battle.
