Early this morning, Congress certified the Electoral College vote for Joe Biden for President. Afterward, President Trump issued a statement promising an orderly transition of power on January 20th, signaling to his supporters that his challenge to the vote is over.

Some Republicans still challenged the electoral vote certification, such as Rep. Matt Gaetz

But others who had planned to join the challenge, including Sens. Marsha Blackburn and Kelly Loeffler, changed their minds after the day’s tragic violence inside the Capitol building by a small group of “Trump supporters” (there are unconfirmed reports that some might have been false-flag Antifa agitators, but others were reportedly identified as part of far-right fringe movements that did not reflect the views of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters outside.) Nevertheless, after a year of telling us not to condemn all peaceful protesters because of the violent actions of a few, that’s precisely what Democrats and the media are doing.

Some on the right are comparing the people who broke into the Capitol to American Revolutionaries. But the Founders were not a mindless mob who committed violence with no longterm plan. They resorted to revolution only after exhausting every other alternative. They issued a statement of their rights and grievances and pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to defend it. They didn’t harm their own side by mindlessly smashing windows in the British Parliament. A later revolutionary protester, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., spoke his piece from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial; he didn’t vandalize it.

Let me be clear: I absolutely and unequivocally condemn the actions of the mob who smashed their way into the Capitol, just as I also call for an investigation of Capitol police who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt, a female Air Force veteran of 14 years.

Here’s more background on Babbitt and the shooting.

In Twitter comments, some people expressed sadness and dismay, but others coldly dismissed her as a traitor and a terrorist and good riddance (I’m sure the same people who are outraged over police brutality against leftist protesters.) It’s true that no one should have breached the barricades Antifa-style, shattered a window, entered the building and confronted security officers. It was a terrible thing. But why were they met with gunfire? I remember Democrats reacting with outrage at a Trump suggestion that looters be shot. In a tragic update, the DC Police have said that four people are now dead, although they didn’t release the causes, which are reportedly medical.

I am gratified to see that, at long last, Democrats are finally condemning mob violence. Only a few months ago, Washington, DC, and many other cities were ablaze; there were riots, arson, looting and assaults on federal buildings and monuments; and their response was to defend the mob and prosecute anyone who stood up to them. Nancy Pelosi infamously said she didn’t care about some old buildings. It’s suddenly a very different matter when one of those “old buildings” is the one with her office in it.

I’ll stress that pointing out the other side’s hypocrisy and Johnny-come-lately outrage is not an excuse. There is no excuse for breaking-and-entering and disrupting the constitutionally-mandated joint session of the House and Senate that was to certify (or not) the state electors. This was perhaps the ONE CHANCE before January 20 that Republicans would have to present their evidence of election fraud, unconstitutionality and error that might have shown Trump to be the actual winner in certain contested states. It’s something that needed to happen, calmly, openly, rationally. More investigation will be needed to determine why these people felt oddly compelled to disrupt this process and undermine the cause of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters outside.

And about Trump supporters: again, NOT AN EXCUSE, but let's look at how many of us feel right now. We’ve been treated like second-class citizens going on five years. In some professions, we can’t even hint at our political leanings. The blacklist against conservatives is as pervasive and powerful as the one used against leftists in the McCarthy era. The Ivy League elite have consistently condescended to us. On college campuses, conservatives risk being “canceled,” even dropped from academic programs because of some "problematic" tweet. The media try to gaslight us at every turn, repeatedly and with no evidence telling us that our President cares only for himself and is a traitor, an agent of Russia. We're tired of being told that 2+2=5. All the while, they bury stories about Hillary, the Bidens, and the partisan federal bureaucracy out to get Trump and anyone on his side.

It’s gotten worse since the election. The deep concerns of millions have been dismissed. Even in the face of wild statistical anomalies and numerous unexplained election-night oddities, questioning the results in any way is forbidden. “Why, this election was PERFECT!” we’re told. “It was the most secure election we have ever had in our history!” Good grief, we don’t have to be crazy conspiracy theorists to recognize these grandiose remarks as overstatements at the very least. Shakespeare might say that election officials “doth protest too much.”

We’ve seen blatant misreporting in the mainstream media, who prefer the false narrative that “courts have dismissed every one of the Trump lawsuits because, as we all know, there is no evidence.” In truth, the courts find other reasons, such as the inexplicable “lack of standing,” to keep from HAVING to look at any evidence. When the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, does this, what is the recourse?

About 70 million Americans suspect that the results of this election are not to be trusted. But these people have been shut down, silenced, and banned from social media or flagged as “misinformation” or “disputed” for daring even to question it. Even the President himself has been treated this way. If we have to sweep this under the rug, as Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) insist we do, we will never trust another election again.

So when media pundits say that challenging these election results is “interfering with democracy,” I say they’re off by 180 degrees. Under current conditions, challenging the election results is SAVING democracy. Stand back, let the Constitution do its work, and let the chips fall where they may.

The violence on Wednesday wasn't just completely unacceptable, it was downright stupid. It was stupid because the worst consequence --- not counting, of course, the loss of four lives --- is that the visuals of the Capitol being stormed will be exploited forever, used as justification to go full pedal-to-the-metal in quashing the rights of conservatives. Take away their civil liberties, leftists will cry; those people shouldn’t have any say! Why, those right-wing racists/sexists/homophobes/traitors don’t deserve a voice, a place in society, or even a way to make a living. Shun them! Cancel them! (And forget all the video of leftists smashing and burning cities from coast-to-coast.)

All of that was coming anyway, incrementally, if they gained power, but this event by a relatively small number of people hastens it.

For all those who are upset at the way the election was handled, and worried about the future of America under Democrat rule, join the club. But we’ve known for two months that any challenges to the November election were the longest of longshots. I defended Trump’s right to make those challenges legally and constitutionally, but it was never likely that Congress would reject electors that the states had certified.

Probably the best that we could hope for was that the challenges might result in what Ted Cruz called for (basically, what I called for just days after the election): an open, bipartisan investigation of alleged voting irregularities, so that if there was anything illegal it would come to light, and if not, Americans could be assured that the vote was trustworthy and Biden wouldn’t govern under a cloud of suspicion.

Now, thanks to the unforgivable actions of hotheads, even that hope has been dashed. Democrats may think they’ve pulled out a hat trick here: they’ve escaped an audit of the vote, Biden’s victory is certified, and Trump and all his supporters are permanently tarnished. But millions of Americans who feel their concerns have been dismissed and their voices silenced will not go away simply because the media try to shame them into it.

Our leaders had one chance to repair the tattered fabric of trust in elections that enables a nation of 320 million people of very different views to accept the results and move on, and they didn’t take it. I hope Joe Biden is sincere in his claim that he wants to be the President of all Americans, but sadly, that job just became far more difficult.

75 million people have been disenfranchised. You can bet this won’t go away. I’ve seen many pics and read eye-witnesses statements that antifa and maybe blm were up to their old tricks and under-cover as ‘patriots’ in the Capitol. My respect for ALL politicians and judges is gone. Unless a miracle occurs, I won’t be voting EVER AGAIN. If Republicans are too inept to stop the libs from stealing our country, then there just isn’t any point. I feel like maybe God is allowing this travesty because we are getting closer to the end of the earth. God forgive me because I’ve never before had such hate and disrespect for any group as I have for liberals. They are destroying EVERYTHING I hold dear

I will NEVER accept this past election as having been honest. President Trump was & is the obvious winner of this past election. He is still my president. He is a great man & it's a shameful thing the democrats have done. And now they'll try to undo all the amazing good President Trump did. As for the riots yesterday, I know in my heart they were a democrat, left, socialist, murderis mob. Everybody knows that. You know the old saying: there are none so blind as those who will not see. Some people wouldn't know the truth if Jesus himself professed it. Look at all the people who believe abortion is right & that burning our cities & tearing down our monuments & trying to rewrite our history is the right thing to do. I don't even feel sorry for those people anymore. They've chosen their own eternity. I am grateful I will not have to spend mine with them.

I will never cast another vote. And I will never recognize Biden or Harris whichever they actually install as my President. Dark Day in America. Praying that God himself will intervene.

I am very disappointed in the mainstream media, the Antifa style mobs and some of our senators and representatives during yesterday’s session. You have summed up pretty much how I personally feel and I thank you for that. Keep up the good work Governor.

You are obviously devoid of the religious beliefs you try to insist that you have. Trump supporters did not do the Capitol attack. Only a mentally constrained human would even think that. Furthermore, people who jump up immediately and say "oh, I condemn violence, and the perpetrators need to be brought to justice"...are usually in on it!! You and the other religious charlatans, like Franklin Graham(Billy must be flipping in his grave) WILL answer to GOD. What is happening is prophesy, and GOD calls the shots. YOU will answer to GOD for deserting the President and recognizing Satan's minions. I unsubscribed already!!! God teaches us to refrain from evil and evil people!

I am a life-long Democrat but am appalled and ashamed of the current Democrat party. It does not represent my values, either Christian or political. I am very convinced that the 2020 election had many fraud instances, some of which has been related to me by friends. It is unfortunate that our leaders feel it necessary to cheat just to remain in power. My solace is that God is in charge and his will be done. I also know he will judge in the final day. Pray for our country and leaders.

I've been a Republican all my life until today. I cannot stay in the Republican Party any longer because many of the Rhinos and Elites did not back him, actually tried to destroy him. I hope that asap a new political party can be formed from the 75 million people who voted for him.

Our voting system should be changed so that federal elections are completely separate from any state's election - different voting dates, federal elections conducted entirely from a secure area near D.C.

Tell Sarah she was great as a Trump spokesperson - as were/are all the other spokespeople.

P.S. Biden didn't win the election - CHINA won.... IMO, Pres. Trump will be remembered as the greatest president in American history.... I pray that he will Pardon Julian Assange, who now apparently will be sent to Mexico. I wish he would be given a True safe haven - perhaps Australia.

Joe Biden jumped on the bashing Trump bandwagon today. Bad move. Trump supporters will never accept him or Kamala. And Trump will return, maybe not in politics, but he’s never going to give up. He is loved by many, and they will never forget how he fought for them unlike any leader in their lifetime.

I have commented often about your articles , Mr. Huckabee , and I will still state again for the hundreth time , that our Judicial system is broken , and the Constitution is no longer enforceable as law . Laws have been broken countless times , with no one being arrested, tried , or sentenced . I commented on this when Jeff ( where did he go ) Sessions was Atthorney General ( in name only ) . What happened in the Capital on the 6th is a disgrace , and a shame on our Country , but is fully understandable . Once honorable people of this once great nation have sold their souls to the devil . They no longer care to recognize evil , but in most cases support and nuture it . The Democrats found a way to make the Constitution null and void , and to make changes to the appelate courts in almost every district . Trump will never be electable again , and the Republican Party will be hard pressed to present anyone for President .

    Mike,

This regrettable violence does not, will not change anything in the leftists eyes. If it weren’t this, it would be something else. So, don’t believe for a second that this makes their case stronger. But, just as the left threatened violence with a Trump win, perhaps seeing it on the other side will make our lawmakers finally consider bipartisan reform. If not, this will only be the beginning. An honest election is the cornerstone upon of our Republic. If it is undermined, we will fall into a bitter civil war.

I have been watching the Victory news since election night. They had a team of people there and were broadcasting live outside the capital. They showed pics And videos of the antifa People that matched their FB photos. Definitely wolves in sheep’s clothing. There is a video of Trump supporters trying to stop a man from breaking in and throw him to the ground. This was calculated - the victory team were getting texts that people were trying to break into the capital and cause violence while Trump was speaking and security let them in. Very sad - communists do this to blame the good guys. I was praying so hard for months - just so sad and defeated but I know God is in this and I am holding on to his Word.

With all due respect, the demonstrators could have acted perfectly and concerns over the validity of the election would have been ignored.

What are people supposed to do when the authorities in charge will not uphold the law? What is the moral response when that happens?

  • Bill Cronquist

After listening to all fo the speeches from Congress after the demonstration last night I was really ashamed of Congress. If they though that all of this was the presidents fault then they need to get their heads out of that dark place and take some of the blame. And as to the election fraud I had only one question that all of the people with TDS would not answer was...what are you afraid of when we ask for an investigation into voter fraud?

Mike sorry for this email but being 67 and a life long republican I am more frustrated than I’ve ever been. I’m mad at the entire political process (ha) in the US. It would appear the Dems can lie , cheat and avoid prosecutions much less any real investigation! The Republicans talk a game of fair play, reasonableness and repeatedly state (regarding last night) that were not like this, ha! Has anyone of them woke up and watched BLM/Antifa dang near destroy the major cities in the US(Seattle-Portland-Washington-Kenosha). As of this moment I have minimal respect for the Republican Party to anticipate and think ahead instead of just reacting. The talk a weak game on TV and when it gets a little dicey they turn tail and run . I don’t agree with everything Trump says or does but how soon these Republicans forget how his team grew the economy beyond our wildest dreams. His team deliverd a COVID-19 vaccine in record time just to name a few. Yet now the Republicans are cutting any ties with Trump and the Dems are just throwing another COVID party. If they let the Dems impeach him my only course of action is to change my political status to independent and never vote republican again. I’m sorry for ranting but the Dems get away with everything and the Republicans are running away. The Dems hypocracy is unbelievable and instead of fighting for what’s right fir the American. People the Republicans run and hide. I don’t know agree with the violence that occurred in DC but was it caused by Republicans or antifa plants. The damage pails in comparison to The damage BLM/Antifa has done across the US. No wonder average Americans are rising up yet our leaders turn tail and run. Oh for a godly strong man with vision and heart

It was all fine when only small businesses and poor area of a city were being destroyed, The Dems funded it. Once it hit closer to their home, now they are concerned and the perp's should be thrown in jail. And has anyone looked inot who the perp's were? Antifa and BLM? Unless these questions are resolved, once the Dems start pushing through their agenda and it starts hurtin ordinary Americans, yesterday's action will only be the start. I fear for the USA.

I too think a small group (comparatively speaking) got carried away and that was wrong. But you know what else is wrong? Millions of voters are still angry, maybe even more so now since most of the republican leaders just turned their backs on all of us. They could have framed their response as you did, a small group committed this act, but the majority went to have their voices heard. And even though they supported Trump, their cause is much bigger than that! It's four years of hearing lies, misinformation, being vilified, and censored, then the irregularities of the election on top of it all. If Biden won fair and square conservatives will not like it, but they'll accept it. We are demanding a legitimate effort to prove the election was or wasn't fraudulent, and I for one feel that never happened. There was no resolution to the issues that anger my family, no real support from our GOP leadership so right or wrong, our belief is future elections will have little integrity. They will be bought by billionaires and cheating tactics. And now there is talk of impeachment of Trump because of the violence?? Stick a finger in the hornets nest. I am angry and sick about the politicians and media who are REALLY the ones responsible for the hate in this country. So frustrated!!!

Thank you Govenor for writing so well. 74 million voters were silenced with this chaos yesterday but our concerns and questions were NOT SATISFIED. There are questions, there are concerns, there are problems and they must be addressed and fixed. We will not be silenced!!

They blame Trump again, yet, he did NOTHING wrong! He even stated in the rally to protest peacefully. What I'm really upset about, is that several witnesses stated there was a busload of Antifa member dressed as Trump supporters dropped off that started the breach. There may have been actual Trump supports that followed suit, but they didn't start it! This is Antifa's MO. None of this is being brought up at all. Antifa loves the Dems, so THEY should be blamed for the violence!!!

This country is no longer great. It is just as bad & in some cases worse than any other country. The entire government needs to be fired. No more career politicians. No one can serve & I stress SERVE the people more than 2 terms. If Pelosi & Biden are Christian..then I am not. I hope they enjoy hell. No wonder citizens are leaving the country. I will also.

I feel the devil is now in control of our country and I can't support the new president as he is against everything I believe in and will see things go down as the Bible tells happened to the countries when they went against God.
