Die-hard Democrat leaders and other political enemies of former President Trump might want to put him on trial, but most Americans do not.

Most don’t care to watch it. According to a new Rasmussen poll, just 15 percent of likely voters –- repeat, likely voters –- planned to watch the whole impeachment “trial.” Most did say they would check in from time to time. But 32 percent said they would not watch ANY of it.

Only 31 percent thought that Trump would likely be convicted. Another 64 percent said a conviction was unlikely or definitely would not happen.

Even a majority of the “politically unaffiliated” (independents), 54 percent, said Trump SHOULD not be convicted. Among Republicans, that number is 81 percent.

And so much for President Biden’s favorite word, “unity.” According to an earlier Rasmussen poll, 57 percent of likely voters said that just having the “trial” –- yes, we’re still using quotation marks around that word here, as it’s not really a trial –- will lead to more division. (They are right.) Among Republicans, that number is 83 percent, which is even bigger than Trump’s current base of support, according to the WASHINGTON EXAMINER.

This is in spite of the frenzy from the media, who are completely off their collective rocker. They’re trying desperately to whip up the Capitol Hill incident into a manifestation of widespread domestic terrorism within the Trump ranks. In particular, at CNN they are out of their freaking minds, with Anderson Cooper talking about Trump supporters “other-izing” people who aren’t like them, even making comparisons to genocidal Hutus in Rwanda who called the Tutsis “cockroaches” before killing them. I am not kidding.

Tucker Carlson mentioned this as well in the opening to his Wednesday show, also explaining how wrong the media are getting the real story of how the Capitol riot got started. They’ve lied about how the casualties occurred, too. Major unanswered questions remain, even as the Senate “tries” Trump for “inciting” it.

If the current mass hysteria were a square dance, some producer from CNN would be calling it. These people are psychotic. Someone should tell the men in the little white coats to come and take them awaaaaaaay!!!

Ironically, the “other-izing” here is being done by Anderson Cooper. To him, we are the cockroaches.

Yesterday, I mentioned that Trump’s attorneys, who have gotten some bad reviews for their arguments on Tuesday, are actually last-minute fill-ins for his previous attorneys whose law firm was bullied into dropping Trump’s case. Recall that Jonathan Turley has expressed dismay at others in his profession who try to prevent the former President from exercising his right to legal representation. It’s become difficult for Trump to hire the caliber of attorneys he needs. John Hinderaker, president of the Center of the American Experiment, spoke with Mark Steyn on FOX NEWS Wednesday evening about this.

"That was the worst opening statement I have ever heard, yesterday,” Steyn said, “and I tell you, I would’ve fired that guy [Bruce Castor] in the corridor ten minutes afterwards.”

Hinderaker did say that Trump has at times had “bad taste in lawyers.” But he said the real story is that “major law firms and high-profile lawyers don’t dare represent Donald Trump. We have seen this over and over again. He has hired top-notch law firms...and they wind up having to put out a public statement saying, ‘No, we don’t represent Donald Trump’...one firm after another." He told the story of a good friend of his, a senior partner at a respected global firm, who did a “tiny” amount of “volunteer” work for Trump after the election, it got out, and “the left launched a massive attack on her law firm, and the law firm’s clients.” (!!)

They were trying to put this huge, prestigious law firm out of business because one of the partners had committed a mortal sin. She decided that, for the sake of her partners, she had no choice but to leave the firm!

He added that the governor of Michigan, Democrat Gretchen Whitmer, has tried to get the lawyers who represented Trump in that state disbarred.

So, according to Hinderaker, the “two or three lawyers” who are representing Trump now “have been on the case for a week or less.” He thought the brief that they’d prepared “was not bad...perfectly adequate.”

They did have a laugh over Hinderaker’s observation that no matter how lacking Trump’s defense might be, “that lawyer is gonna win this case.” A month from now, that lawyer will say, “I won the biggest case in my life, rather easily, when the Senate voted.”

Obviously, Hinderaker is with the majority of those polled who believe Trump will not be convicted. He called it “an exercise in futility.” Of course, he said, that’s because “45 senators have already voted that they don’t think they have jurisdiction.”

He said Democrats don’t want to focus now on their own administration. “They’re obsessed with continuing to hate Donald Trump as they’ve been doing for the last four years. I find that just astonishing.”

I can imagine them watching the "trial" video over and over for the rest of their lives, remembering the good old days of Trump-hate. Of course, that much hate has repercussions. In a stunning poll from Zogby Analytics, based on a sample of 873 likely voters from around the country, 46 percent believe civil war is likely, while 43 percent believe it isn’t.

Among Republicans, the split was 49 percent likely to 40 percent unlikely. Among Democrats, the split was 45 percent likely to 44 percent unlikely. Among independents, it was 42 percent likely and 44 percent unlikely. So all groups were split somewhat similarly.

Perhaps surprisingly, whites were less likely to see civil war ahead than Hispanics and blacks. Among Hispanics, the split was 53 percent likely vs. 43 percent unlikely. Among blacks, it was 49 to 39 percent. For whites, 43 percent vs. 44 percent. Given that the margin of error is plus-or-minus 3.3 percentage points, this is essentially an even split.

There were regional differences as well. Respondents in the East were much less likely to anticipate civil war (39 percent yes, 44 percent no) than, say, those in the South (49 percent yes, 39 percent no).

People who live in large cities were much more likely to think we’ll have one than those in the suburbs. More details at the link. Obviously, all the pushing, lying, name-calling, tweet-censoring, statue-toppling, power-grabbing and boot-heel grinding by the left is having its effect. Indeed, they seem to be deliberately goading conservatives into striking back, so they'll have an excuse to crack down even more. Don't be foolish enough to take that bait.

Where is the Oversight to force these lazy Senators and Representatives to actually WORK? Is that word even in their vocabulary? I’m sick of watching millions of tax dollars flushed down the toilet by these evil people. Don’t they realize this throws more suspicion on them for being guilty? They do not follow our Constitution. They should get one chance to follow it accordingly. They make up their own lays? Boom! They’re gone.

I really like the scripture first and I do NOT rush past it. Focusing on the Word of God prepares me for the latest stupid things Democrats are doing. Many thanks for your accurate information.

My husband and I do not watch even one minute on the "trial." We do not even watch any of the 3 major network news programs. The lies, the hatred, the complete jokes that these people make of themselves is stressful to us: Christians, conservatives, law-abiding, America-loving, praying, caring, loving senior citizens. We don't have much, but we do have enough. And we do own 2 guns, one for each of us. We are afraid that we really might need them for protection. Thankful we liv in Florida! It's hard to imagine the God-hating, America-hating, power-hungry, money-loving world we live in now! Our only solace is knowing that the Lord is in control--yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and that His timing is perfect. So thankful I don't occupy "their" shoes!

There is no way I would spend time watching the circus called impeachment that the Democrats are putting on. Terrible waste of taxpayers money, just like they have been doing for the last 4 years.

I don't see how they can Impeach President Trump, there is no physical evidence showing President Trump talking directly (And I mean face-to-face) to any of the folks who stormed the Capitol Building. To use Facebooks own factcheckers words against them where's the context?

My many thoughts: As soon as the "Schiff show" (aptly named by Hannity) went to internet TV watch favorite British shows!! When will the democrats and their media minions realize they are as much fault in the rising of the far Right activism as anyone? They should stop and listen to their own montage of rhetoric this last years with an open mind (fat chance) see what effect it has had on the average American: hate, hate, and more hate! I think President Joe should be called President China Joe for his unveiled support of Communist China. Geez are we in trouble. and lastly is it possible for millions of Americans to get together and sure the districts in NY, CA and others for the lost taxpayer dollars spent on these two impeachment fiascos? How about eliminating the protection of congress to say anything they want on the floor and make they legally accountable for all the lies they say?? So much going through my mind!

I have not/will not watch the fiasco in DC, being sponsored by the commie pig demoncrats, because what ever time I would spend watching this "kangaroo" trial is that much time in my life that would be a total waste and time that I COULD NEVER GET BACK!

I, as non-attorney, or our favorite legal beagle, Snoopy, could represent Trump in this proceeding and he would still win. Having said that, .I was most unhappy with Trump continuing to stir up the country claiming cheating at the polls. However. he can’t be held responsible for this riot. Where all Germans or .Japanese held responsible for their leaders atrocities? After all, in .Germany they elected .Hitler. So you could say they incited him to do the heinous things he did, unfortunately what the Dems are doing now, including the President, are feeding into the far, far right, beliefs and we are likely to see more violence. I assume if the immigrants passing into the the border states bring in Covid thus killing people by passing it along, and we have a terrorist attack from people crossing the border masquerading as refugees, that Biden will be held responsible and impeached. The president is set. Democrats are famous for not considering consequences of their feel good decisions. I am all for immigration, but we need to know who is coming in. I mentioned to someone that we will see more child prostitution. They actually ask if that was a problem in our country. Ignorance is bliss.

PS. I saw a recent video of .Hilary still maintaining that she won the 2016 election.

Governor, I know you like to feature yourself as a staunch supporter of Trump. I find your support to be thin. You cannot help yourself from inserting virtue signals like, “For instance, I criticized President Trump’s rhetoric myself, but I can’t bamboozle myself into believing that he gave a speech that “incited” a riot”.
I get it you are too good a man to fully defend a man who speaks plainly (and very typically for a “New Yawker”). You just have to inject a suggestion of disdain which softens the “staunch” in your support.
My argument is that Trump was never as direct as he should have been to deride the constant assault on his character.

Sometimes when one party keeps pushing the boundaries (remaking "the line", etc.), a time may come when one must say "Stop!, no more!" If that party does not back off, then one may have to do what is necessary to effect a stop.

Mike, just a word on the view from my window..

Conservatives, specifically white conservatives are routinely being called "snow roaches." Have you heard this term yet? I am a mother of two very young children and in most of the "mom groups" I am in (online), white mothers are very often referred to as "snow roaches," especially if they say anything that isn't in line with "woke culture." It is acceptable practice and widespread. We are also referred to as "thin lips," "mayo queens," among other names. We are often banned if we tag an admin, charged with being a tattletale. Admins will say things like "guess the trash is taking itself out today!"

</shrugs> This attitude is permeating everywhere and the general tone with these young women (or people if I need to be PC) is that it is our duty to suffer this degradation to attone for the behavior of people we don't know who mistreated people they don't know. And generally, we accept it.

Mike, I don't see that President Trump is getting a fair trial. They are too prejudiced against him. I have been watching the procedures as I wanted to be aware of the situation. They are taking lots of piece meal quotes and putting them together. I do hope that the lawyers he has will be able to over come all of this nonsense and not just depend on the idea of it being unconstitutional to even try and impeach him.
They are not accepting the fact that they helped to instigate these people into these actions by their hate of our country and way of life. From their attacks against Pres. Trump to their acceptance of it being a good thing that BLM was rioting and ruining people's businesses and their very lives. I believe that there were complacent in people feeling the need to do something to keep our way of live.
This is not well stated but it is heart felt.

Because of all this the USA appears to be the most stupid country in the world. Maybe end times are closer then we know. I think we are getting closer to having GOD fix things then we know. Remember Sodom and Gorum. Maybe we should clean out "the swamp" and start over again.

I see too many "red flags" out there for another Civil War which will be unlike our last one. People are stocking up on firearms, ammunition and even reloading supplies. Back ground checks each month are at record highs. The Liberal cities councils are de funding their police and letting riots, looting and burning of businesses in their own cities and defending the people behind the violence. Thousands of jobs lost by the stroke of a pen adding to the high numbers of unemployment and businesses closed caused by the virus. More red flags by frustrated people and by some whose vote was cast aside thru fraud.
I'm not proposing another Civil War, however if (God forbid) ones does happen it will be bloody. I study the Civil War. especially the battle at Gettysburg. Over 52,000 men killed or wounded. General Lee's wagon train of wounded stretch for over 20 miles. This war was fought using "primitive" weapons compared to the modern weapons and ammunition today available to the public. When people's backs are up against the wall survival become the dominating instinct and many are there now with no paychecks coming in, bills to pay and watching our democracy being chipped away by politicians who line their pockets with gold and silver while ignoring "We the people".

There are more and more people that do not trust our government. Sadly more people are afraid of being a victim of government retaliation for speaking out on issues that are important to them, but may not be in total agreement with some government mandates and laws. It appears that laws are for the governed, and not for those who make them. Yes fear can be a great motivator.

"46 percent believe civil war is likely"
There is an alternative. A general strike by those that value our republic as the democracy it protects. It has no violence and cripples power since there is no threat of violence. Martial Law is not a 'cure'.

We can trace a foundation of problems to Progressives. Case in point: John Dewey. “You can’t make Socialist out of individualists. Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.”

The man was an atheist, "Father of Modern Education" and a ranking member of the National Education Association. While teaching at Columbia in 1935, he composed a list of 25 most influential books since 1885; Das Kapital by Karl Marx was number one.

As Mr. Trump is a private citizen, he can't be impeached in the present as a president. When the Senate impeaches President Trump they "remove" him from office during his past four year term. Therefore, he was not president when he ran for re-election. If he was not president when he ran for re-election as president, that means the election was illegal as he could not run as president having been removed post-dated as it were. So if he could not run and the election was illegal based on citizen Trump running as president, then the election MUST be tossed out, Biden removed from office, Pence put in as acting President and a new presidential election must be held with legitimate candidates running from the Republican party. I rest my case.

I will not watch this HOAX .... on any channel. The "LIES" and "half truths" the Socialist Democrats' are telling is disgraceful, and of course no one is confronting them .... what happened to "lying under oath", that is legal for Socialist Democrats' now?
My thoughts on this waste of time for Congress: it is a distraction to all the horrible things BIDEN and his Handlers are doing, and will do to these USA and her Citizens.

I think civil war is inevitable and necessary. You say don’t strike back bc Liberals are goading ya but this is allowing our rights to be taken away easily. Look at all we have lost already by not fighting back. We will lose ALOT more as we can see they are going after our gun rights and everything we hold dear. We have no choice but to fight them. I’m ready.

    Good Morning Governor,

Here is something for the Liberal Democrats (but I repeat myself) to do after the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump is over.

Benjamin Franklin once said, “Democracy is two wolves and a small lamb voting on what to have for dinner. Freedom under a Constitutional Republic is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!”

That sure sounds like Insurrection to me. Old Ben should be impeached. The fact that he is out of office makes no difference, apparently. Nor should the fact that he is dead.

In addition, Ben’s impeachment trial could take weeks, thereby preventing any less important legislation being decided (like the economy, or the China Virus Pandemic). It could also put the Democrats in front of the cameras for months, just in time to get free TV for their re-elections in 2022!

Governor, I think I need serious help – I’m beginning to think like a Democrat!
