On this holiest of weekends, there is more evidence that Christians are under assault on all fronts from emboldened secular forces on the left. To list just a few headlines from the past couple of days:

Archbishop Joseph Naumann, Chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, is under attack for saying that President Biden should stop claiming to be a “devout Catholic” when he’s actively promoting and funding huge numbers of abortions. Frankly, that not only sounds quite reasonable, it also sounds like exactly what a Catholic Archbishop who’s a chairman of a pro-life committee would be expected to say. I guess my “outrage trigger” just isn’t sensitive enough for these times.

The gay and lesbian group GLAAD is fervently embracing the concept of blacklisting people for their religious beliefs and for not 100% embracing their personal views on sex and politics. And as with many shameless totalitarian censors, blacklisters and inquisitors down through the dark days of history, they’re not much concerned about whether the people they’re trying to destroy are actually guilty or even if the accusers don’t even have their own facts straight.

In a reminder of how important it is that we guard our First Amendment against those that are trying to destroy it, a Christian actress in Great Britain was fired from a production of “The Color Purple” after someone dug up a four-year-old Facebook post in which she said she personally believes in the Biblical view of homosexuality. The Twitter mob made her the object of an organized hate and terror campaign, demanding that the theater fire the “homophobe.” There were even death threats against her. She was fired, dropped by her agency, and blacklisted by the local theater industry. So she appealed her firing to an Employment Tribunal on grounds of religious discrimination.

A spokesperson for a Christian group defending said it should have been an open-and-shut case, since the arguments against her included that her beliefs "were not worthy of respect in a democratic society and of legal protection.” However, the judges not only ruled against her, they also ordered her to pay the other side’s inflated legal costs of $480,000, despite the fact that in that court, both sides are supposed to pay their own costs. It was described as a heavy-handed punitive measure, designed to bully her and all Christian into thinking they can be discriminated against and they’d better not dare to protest.

At the University of North Texas, a conservative Christian group tried what they thought was a fun Easter event by hiding plastic Easter eggs around the campus with positive, non-controversial Bible verses inside. The angry leftist contingent reacted with predictable OUTRAGE and fury, protesting that it’s offensive because not all students are Christian (and would they attack a Muslim or Buddhist event because not all students are Muslim or Buddhist?), organizing to stomp the eggs, and (of course) urging one of the Christian students to kill herself. (Note: our writer Pat Reeder is a UNT honors alumnus, but he says that if these little jerks aren’t expelled, he renounces all ties with his former school.)

With so many of these stories every day, it can be disheartening to fight them. It seems easier just to shut up, keep your head down and let the targets of the left’s crazed wrath twist in the wind. But this is one of those times when you should ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?” Would He want you to keep quiet about your faith and not defend it, or stand up for those who are under assault?

I think the answer can be found in 1 Peter, 3:15-16: “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.”

I'm John Chaffee, former broadcaster, now songwriter, and I'm sending a link to the song I wrote addressing the subject above. It's called God's Gone Missing, sung by Christian Messenger.

Hey Governor, happy Easter, or if you will, happy Reserrection Day-I can go both ways! I hear what you are saying about Christians being under attack, I’m fighting a battle right now myself and while at this time it’s not directly related to Jesus and how He wants us to conduct ourselves I think it’s a matter of time before it comes to it. The best, not the easiest but the best thing to remember is that while we are getting our tail feathers kicked Father is counting those kicks and will avenge them, that is His promise. Thanks for listening to me, God bless you and yours. Heidi

Dear Gov. Mike -- you are right that hearing all these stories about the attack on Christians is heartbreaking and just plain scary. All I know to do is pray without ceasing and watch your show on Sat evenings (such inspirational guests) and read your newsletter. Though it's hard to hear or read, I appreciate the truth about what is really going on. Our pastor made a comment last week that God isn't surprised about any of the bad and ridiculous things that are going on (I'm a lifelong Georgia resident!). But can't help but think that God is as heartbroken as I am. Your Bible verses are spot on and I want to share one that I keep taped up inside my prayer closet. 2nd Chronicles Chapter 20, Verse 15. ......... "Don't be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army, For the battle is not yours but God's." It sure seems that us Believers have a huge army against us but we've got to keep the faith.
Thanks for the work you do and Happy Easter!

If Christians don’t start pushing back against this bullying behavior, the bullies will only become more emboldened in their behavior. Jesus rejects the lukewarm, saying he will spit us out if we don’t stand up for him.

I live in DFW and sent an email to UNT and local Fox 4 news station about the egg hunt article. What happened to just leaving the eggs alone for someone who DOES want it. Why do those “opposition” students get to make the choice for everyone?

We need to recapture the gospel glow of the early Christians, who were nonconformists in the truest sense of the word and refused to shape their witness according to the mundane patterns of the world. Willingly they sacrificed fame, fortune, and life itself in behalf of a cause they knew to be right. Quantitatively small, they were qualitatively giants.

You're exactly right. The best defense is NO DEFENSE! The best defense a Christian can display against hate of any and all kinds is kindness and love. It is easy for me to ignore their hatred and keep my head high (not low!) and by displaying His love in acts of kindness. The day will soon come when the left will let their hatred rule in all they do and we must learn to ignore it and love just as Jesus did - does!!

Well, look at what is happening to Christians all over the world. There are more martyrs for the Lord in the last century than any other. We just have to be closer to the Lord then ever before!

He is coming back soon, so be ready and stay ready, as my pastor always says!

Let's also remember what Peter said to the High Priest and the Jewish Counsel when ordered not to speak in Jesus Name under threat of death ( and the second time they got a flogging ) :
WE MUST OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN.

Jesus is worth going to jail or dying for! We cannot allow the CCP to win without a fight! Jesus she'd His Blood for us, our forefathers she'd their blood for our freedom, and if it is our time Praise The Lord! As the saying goes, if Satan is not attacking your not working hard enough for God! Thanks for the reminder of What Would Jesus Do? We were Blessed by having the reminder at the end of Carman's The Champion when he graduated of KICKING IT FOR CHRIST! Let's start KICKING! God Bless You For Your Dynamic Ministry!

Before reading your commentary this morning, I listened to the Easter service from Dr. David Jeremiah. Both, your commentary and his sermon have touched my heart. I encourage all of your followers to get involved with their church or online Christian program in order to be prepared for what is to come. May they hold steadfast to their Christian, moral, and political beliefs and practices against all evil that we face today. The hardest and saddest is those friends and family members who don’t share what we hold near and dear. May we all seek God’s guidance in relating and communicating with them; not to argue or ostracize. Easter Blessings to you and your family!

LOVE< LOVE< LOVE your newsletter. Amazing how you are able to deal only in FACTS and not feelings. Christianity is under assault and we need to start pushing back hard before it’s too late. Not sure how to do that as an individual, but would love to see you lead a movement/boycott/protest etc. Tell us what we can do and 74 million voters will get on board.

Back in the early 1990’s, I led a group of Christians into a Phoenix City park to witness the gospel of Jesus Christ to win souls for Christ. The reason we have public parks is for the exchanging of ideas. An opposing group rose up against us inciting others at the park to oppose us. The Police were called and they asked who the leader was. I stepped forward and they arrested me immediately. I asked them what they were arresting me for and they said for trespassing and disturbing the peace. I asked them if it was a public park and they said yes so I told them they couldn’t arrest me for trespassing. I then turned to the mob and asked them if they were bothered by the tone of voice we exhibited and they said no, you cannot preach to others about Jesus Christ outside of the church walls! I then turned back to the Police officers and told them it’s not a disturbing the peace issue, it’s a violation of freedom of speech. The mob was swearing and threatening us in front of the Police. I asked the Police why they would not arrest them for assaulting us and they said because you started it! Three other members that were with me volunteered to be arrested too and the Police were more than happy to oblige. While we were sitting in the back of Police cars awaiting transport to jail, the arresting officer asked that if we would show up to court, they released us to go home. We agreed with him to do so. My Pastor wrote to the City of Phoenix Attorney citing other cases of freedom of speech issues that had occurred recently in another Arizona City. The Phoenix Attorney wrote back apologizing to our Pastor for the City violating our freedom of speech and all charges were dropped against us. The City Attorney also stated he would educate all of the Phoenix Police Officers on freedom of speech issues. If we as Christians do not fight against violations of our rights, then we will lose those rights!

Jesus claimed he was the “Son of God” and had all power.

    WHO SAYS STUFF LIKE THAT?

If I did not immediately write such a person off as delusional or mentally ill, if there was any reason to consider further, it might be because numerous sources include accounts of his drawing thousands to hear him. Sure doesn’t sound like a “kook”... nor would I ever expect to draw thousands, myself.

Multiple accounts describe Jesus as having healed the blind, raised the dead. He was loving.

I believe him. Someone who makes claim to being the “Son of God” is either a kook...or (examine him) who he says he is!

My answer to the war on Christians:
To quote on this .Easter weekend “God forgive them, for they know not what they do”.

I think these people would be cheering at the Roman arena as the lions attacked the Christians.

But as we all can note in the Old Testament, when His people went away from Him, it did not work out well for them.

Kudos to the Bishop. I wondered when the Catholic Church would speak out. Now how about the socialist Pope?

Fortunately, I live in a state that, although most are registered Dem, they voted for .Trump and have a GOP dominated state government.

I never thought I would see the United States be dishonored by being a Christian, white, black,Asian or Hispanic ; but here we are. What would Jesus do? Love and pray for our accusers. I pray now more than ever that God would save our country and take down those who have corrupted it. Open peoples eyes so they can repent and save us from destruction! Keep up your good work!!!!!

As you will know what 2 Chronicles 7:14 says. We may humble ourselves and pray to the Father to heal our land, yet where the problem comes in at is we are "NOT" turning away from our wicked ways. How can we expect God to heal our land if we do not turn from our wicked ways? God will not hear and will not heal our land until we start turning away from our wicked ways!

    Governor,
What I find so discouraging and most certainly a huge disappointment is that the people we have elected to represent us are not doing their job but continue to collect a paycheck with no sense of remorse. We hear over and over on Fox and other conservative outlets, what the left is doing and just how godless their actions are from conservative speakers. And yet, nothing is being done by our elected officials to counteract these atrocities. If we, the people, who pay their salaries have to start counteracting these atrocities then in reality we don’t need them to represent us. So why are the continuing to speak out and not act? Why are they still collecting paychecks and spending our country into debt so that our great great great grandchildren have no future? I’m going to side with John McArthur on this one, “it’s too late for America. America, as a nation is under judgement. God is in the process of hardening hearts. But for a remanent, chosen few, they can still become part of the elect by choosing not to let their hearts be hardened, turn from their sin, and turn to Jesus Christ.” Come soon Lord Jesus!

Jesus said in Matthew 7: 21-23 (ESV): 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’“
For those of us who are true believers in Christ, it is important for us to make our stands based on His teachings and on what God’s laws stand for. How can we say we are Christians, but believe it is okay to murder babies through abortion, promote the raping of of children and women, promote sexual and gender confusion of children, promote the stand of the LGBTQ agenda, and the many other anti-Christian stands and behaviors that have become ‘acceptable’ by many Christian groups. I do believe that when we face our Lord on our Judgment day, we shall be judged based on these things and where we stand on these issues.

Even with all we’ve been taught about the sacrifice of Christ if he were to return as proof to the doubters they would want to crucify him again.
