Flag Day

Today is Flag Day, celebrating the adoption of the American flag by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. It was proclaimed a holiday by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916, and officially established as National Flag Day by act of Congress in 1949.

Florida Rep. Brian Mast also has an excellent article at FoxNews.com about the US flag and what it symbolizes, and that it’s not a Republican flag or a Democrat flag, but the flag of all Americans – even those who denigrate it and fail to grasp that it stands for their very right to speak out foolishly against it.

As Rep. Mast notes, chief among those people is New York Times editorialist Mara Gay, who recently declared how “disturbing” she found it when she took a weekend jaunt to Long Island and saw American flags in people’s yards and on (horrors!) pickup trucks! I was so saddened and surprised to hear of the death of Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma. He was a good friend who supported me from the earliest days of my political endeavors.

    You should talk to Sen. Doug Mastriano of PA. He is a godly Christian man, retired Colonel, award winning author, and one of the hardest fighters for our country, our constitution and our state. We are praying that he runs for PA governor. During the past year, he has done live 'fireside' facebook chats every evening at 8pm. Any day that he can, he leads tours of the Gettysburg Battlefields to anyone that has called his office to be put on the list. He knows so much about our history and the Bible! When so many seniors were missing graduation, any one that contacted him, he showed up and was the guest speaker for their smaller outside events. When Gov. Wolf was persecuting any business that opened during the lockdown, Doug would do a rally outside their business in a show of support. Please research him. He is doing so much for our great nation!

    Governor Huckabee, there is a man in our community by the name of Thomas Tisdale. He is the organizer of a Traillife group fir k thru 12 boys. The group meets every Monday night. I cannot tell you how wonderful he is. He has such a rapid with these young men. He stood and taught them what Memorial Day was and why we celebrate. He teaches along with other leaders what some would call old fashioned values. He has such a heart for these kids. Everyone is treated the same no matter their home life or color of their skin. He is a great mentor to these boys. He loves America!

    I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands. One Nation under GOD indivisible, with Liberty and JUSTICE FOR ALL

    I do not know of any exemptions for any reason in the pledge I have recited many times.

    I happen to live in the wonderful city of Appleton Wisconsin, which to today will have it's 70th annual Flag Day parade. The longest running in the nation I believe. Last year there was no parade (guess why) but this year its back bigger than ever. Kudos to Appleton!
