Pray for North Texas and Oklahoma
Please join me in praying for the victims of tornadoes, hail and floods that struck during severe storms Friday in North Texas and Oklahoma. One person was killed, dozens more injured and tens of thousands were still without electricity this morning. There are more details at the link.
There are more tornado watches and warnings in effect today in Louisiana and Arkansas, so please keep a close eye on the weather news and take precautions right away if you receive an emergency weather bulletin.

John Lucas at the Federalist alerts Americans that something very important is happening next week, aside from the elections. Starting on Monday, people will gather from all over the country at the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington to remember our military members who gave their lives in Vietnam by reading all 58,281 names of the fallen off the wall. It’s expected to take three-and-a-half days to name them all.
If you can make it there and would like to volunteer for a reading slot, here’s the place to do it:
Read all of Lucas’ article. It’s an excellent lesson on why these heroes deserve to be remembered and memorialized, what they gave up to serve their country, and how badly so many people in this country treated Vietnam veterans when they returned. As Lucas notes, some who spat on them and called them “baby killers” now lie to us and maybe themselves that they always supported the veterans, they just opposed the government or the war. Unfortunately for them, their words are on the record, including the words of John Kerry, which are quoted in the article.
The Americans who take part in this event believe that these fallen heroes deserve the gratitude and commemoration that they didn't receive then. They also deserve apologies from those who slandered them, but that’s another thing they never received from most of the people who owe it to them.
If today’s liberal politicians want to do anything to atone for what they said about Vietnam veterans back then, a good way to show they mean it would be to back more aid for Vietnam veterans, and all veterans, and ensure they get the very best care that they’ve earned so we can end the tragic epidemic of veteran suicides.
Leftists using violence against Republicans
Tom Knighton at the Tilting at Windmills Substack puts all the balloon juice about “violent Republican extremists” into perspective by listing just a few of the many, many, many examples of leftists using violence against Republicans. One you might not even have heard of (he didn’t know about it until he researched this article because the media’s done such a good job of burying it.)

President Biden and his supporters think that all Republicans bear responsibility for an attack on Paul Pelosi by a homeless drug addict whose political motivations, if any, aren’t yet clear (so far, most signs point to him being a typical crazy Berkeley leftist.) But where are the top Democrats taking responsibility for all the violence and lawlessness of their followers?
Speaking of Biden, it’s been just two days since his latest rant about violent Republicans being a threat to democracy, and I’ve yet to see any instances of Republicans attacking Democrats. However, I mentioned at the time that even as he was preparing to give that speech, it was reported that someone tried to punch New Hampshire GOP Senate candidate Gen. Don Bolduc and an Illinois man had been arrested for making vile, graphic death threats against GOP gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey and his family. Since then, it was reported that last month, someone fired a shot into the home of the parents of North Carolina Republican Congressional candidate Pat Harrigan. The shot barely missed a room where his two young children were sleeping.
And it was reported that last weekend in Michigan, a woman carrying a sign supporting Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer showed up at a speech by her challenger Tudor Dixon and started screaming and slapping people. At one point, she allegedly bit Wayne County GOP chairwoman Cheryl Costantino, whom I sincerely hope has had her rabies shots.
The Democrats rant constantly about all the Republican political violence but the one example they keep harping on happened on January 6th of 2021, and that's coming up on two years ago. I’ll make them a deal: if they’ll just shut up and give us all a rest, I’ll keep monitoring the news and if any other actual Republican violence against Democrats ever happens again, they have my word that I will alert them to it.
By the way, to prove I’m serious about reporting on Republican transgressions, too, here is an appalling story involving very disturbing allegations of child abuse against Republican state senate candidate Joel Koskan in South Dakota.
While every accused person is entitled to the presumption of innocence, this isn’t just a last minute accusation by a political opponent. Koskan is facing felony charges for alleged sexual grooming and rape of a teenage family member, and authorities say they have text messages confirming the victim’s story. He could face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty. The state GOP chairman condemned Koskan (who should drop out, as he never should have entered the race if this is true), and said “the South Dakota Republican Party unequivocally opposes child abuse in all forms” and “trusts the justice system to work through the allegation."
How bad is media bias? This bad...
We Republicans are used to rampant media bias, but it’s always interesting to see it quantified to show how bad it really is.
A new Media Research Center study of 115 election stories from ABC, CBS and NBC found that even though Republicans don’t control the White House or Senate, 87% of the stories treated Republicans negatively. In a similar study four years ago, when Republicans did control the White House, House and Congress, 88% of network election stories presented Republicans negatively. It doesn't even matter if they're the underdog or the overdog, the message remains the same: "Republicans BAD!!"
And in 2018, the networks focused their midterm coverage on Trump relentlessly, devoting 48% of their airtime to scrutinizing and criticizing him, more than the time spent on all House, Senate and Governor races combined. But this year, Biden, for all his failures, accounted for just 34 minutes of all the coverage analyzed.
As unfair as this is, I’ve said before that over the long run, it does a disservice to Democrats. It makes them intellectually weak and flabby, and unable to stand up in a debate and defend their policies because reporters seldom challenge them. On the other hand, the new champion battler of biased media attacks is Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, who received 100% negative coverage from the media. If you want an example of how biased media criticism toughens you up and makes you a better politician, look no further!
I can't ignore this...
I said yesterday that I wasn’t going to waste pixels writing about every stupid, hysterical claim made about Republicans by leftists in the media. But how can I resist commenting on MSNBC firestarter Joy Reid’s claim that Americans wouldn’t even know the word “inflation” if they hadn’t heard it in all those Republican political ads?
She said, “The only people I ever hear use the word ‘inflation’ are journalists and economists, so that is not part of the normal lexicon of the way people talk.” She claims people who’ve never used that word in their lives are saying it now because they’ve been taught it by Republicans.
Well, let me just say, “You’re welcome, America!” If you’ve truly never heard the word “inflation” before, then I assume you must’ve attended a public school in a Democrat-run city. So this means you’ve officially learned more three-syllable words from GOP political ads than you did in school. Also, more about economics than you’re likely ever to learn on MSNBC.
Kudos to Ed Driscoll at Instapundit for doing some archeology and digging up a 1978 newspaper ad for Joe Biden that targets (what's that word again? Oh, yes!) inflation, with this Biden quote for a headline: “The spiraling costs of inflation are ripping into the fabric of American society.”
