2. The DHS Ministry Of Truth, and our Quote Of The Day
Many conservatives have picked up on the name “Ministry Of Truth,” from George Orwell’s novel 1984, to describe the Constitution-defying “Disinformation Governance Board” that has sprung into existence like a toxic weed at the Department of Homeland Security, and I’m glad they have. Far from being cliché or hyperbolic, it describes EXACTLY what this is. In fact, I don’t think there’s a better phrase in the English language to convey what it is, with the same irony Orwell used in his book. So we’ll join in and call it the DHS Ministry Of Truth, just to drive the point home.
And also because they won’t like it. They probably want us to get used to calling it simply “the DGB,” because referring to it just by those letters takes away the verbal reminder of what it’s there to do.
It also wasn’t hyperbolic when the Gateway Pundit used a particular word to describe the person chosen to head this new effort, Nina Jankowicz. The word they used was “lunatic.” She really is one. I would add “zealot.”
Apparently the board will have money to “combat disinformation” where they think that effort is needed but will not have power on their own to actively “crack down” on it. (Of course, Homeland Security has the means to do plenty of cracking down.) And for some reason, they’re focusing on disinformation among Hispanic voters.
What, they’re afraid Hispanic voters might think “Beto” O’Rourke is actually Hispanic? Not to worry --- that’s what he WANTS.
https://meaww.com/who-is-nina-jankowicz-bidens-disinformation-board-roasted-as-ministry-of-truth
The board has been assembled very quietly, as reflected in this recent tweet from Jankowicz: “Cat’s out of the bag: here’s what I’ve been up to the past two months, and why I’ve been a bit quiet on here. Honored to be serving in the Biden Administration @DHSgov and helping shape our counter-disinformation efforts.”
Last week, she reportedly said the First Amendment was bad for “marginalized communities.” She also called Elon Musk a “free speech absolutist.” Musk is trying to save Constitutionally-protected free speech, but it seems that, to her, this is a distinction without a difference.
She tweeted that “one of the key reasons the Board was established is to maintain the Dept.’s commitment to protecting free speech, privacy, civil rights and civil liberties.” Um, you can’t be committed to protecting free speech if you’re deciding what to “combat” as misinformation and disinformation.
In 2019, she tweeted this: “And they are still confusing ‘more speech’ with ‘free speech.’ Technology is not an unadulterated societal good that sprinkles people with First Amendment fairy dust at each login.” Don’t you love the idea of a person like this policing your speech?
Ahead of the 2020 election, she authored an op-ed in The Atlantic (hoo boy) entitled “Trump’s Version of Poll Watching Sounds Like Thuggery.” In 2021, she said that the Trump campaign had “injected violence into election observation last year. Now, far from just sending observers, they’re infecting the process as well.” You know, I doubt there’s one thing, no matter how accurate, I could say about the 2020 election that this woman wouldn’t call disinformation. Probably just because it came from me.
From September 2020: “Trump talking about how he would ‘put out that fire’ in Portland is the language of authoritarianism. It means the violent clearing of protesters, arrest without cause, abuse of human rights. That’s [not] law enforcement, that’s lawlessness.”
Why, she speaks so freely and so cluelessly, you’d think she’d been sprinkled with First Amendment fairy dust.

Alejandro Mayorkas, embattled head of DHS, revealed the existence of this new board in a hearing Wednesday before the House Appropriations Committee while being grilled about the total border failure. So, after “just recently” creating this board, why did he choose to reveal it now, after the fact, in a hearing about the border? After all, they’re supposed to be policing the BORDER, not our thoughts and expressions. Our guess is that news of the board’s real purpose leaked out, and they had to, in media parlance, “get ahead of the story.”
Mayorkas even said specifically that they'd be dealing with disinformation ahead of the November midterms. Ah, he must mean like the “Russian disinformation” about Hunter Biden's laptop, leading into November 2020. Or perhaps the laptop was a “Trump campaign product.” That's what "disinformation expert" Jankowicz called it.
For some time, the government has had social media to do their dirty work for them, and now that this function is finally starting to be limited by Elon Musk and alternative platforms, it’s as if they decided, “Well, hang the Constitution, we’ll just have to blow up the First Amendment! We’ll dedicate our resources to targeting the law-abiding, because we know that deep in their hearts they’re really insurrectionists who'll express wrong opinions and graduate to domestic terrorism, and we have to crush all dissent to nip that stuff in the bud!”
There is no way to overstate the need to get rid of this board, immediately. This cannot stand; the government has crossed the ultimate red line. In fact, any proponent of this idea needs to be retired from public life. It’s the biggest “threat to our democracy” (to use leftists’ favorite expression) that we face from within our own borders.
If you grew up where bagworms infest and kill trees, you know what needs to be done to get rid of this travesty, figuratively speaking. You put on some thick gloves, climb up, yank the big disgusting web out of the tree, throw it onto the street, douse it with kerosene and burn it to a smoking ash. The end.
Charlie Hurt of the Washington Times gave us all a wake-up on Tucker Carlson’s show Thursday night. He reminded us of the days when an entire governmental department would be shut down if it tried to do something like this. Congress would use the power of the purse to stop it, he said –- though I would imagine that earlier in our history, this might also have involved tar and feathers.
Charlie went on to warn us, and that's our QUOTE OF THE DAY:
…………………………..
“...There’s so much to this that is ridiculous and hilarious and absurd –- but the most important thing is...[that] the agency that they have decided to put this ‘ministry of information’ into is the largest, the most militarized domestic agency we have in this government. The DHS has more guns, has more bullets, has more materiel, than any other federal department other than the Department of Defense. They buy bullets by the millions. And the fact that they are choosing to put this Ministry of Truth into that department tells you all you need to know. And if Democrats –- as well as Republicans but also Democrats –- in Congress are not terrified by this and doing everything they can to stop it, then...we’re done, we’re finished.”
…………………………...
Finally, Tucker Carlson presented a masterful take-down of this whole authoritarian ploy on his Wednesday evening show.

3. Note to President Biden
No, children do not belong to teachers when they’re in the classroom.
https://www.westernjournal.com/biden-teachers-kids-classroom/
Children are entrusted to teachers by parents, to teach them things like reading and writing. When they start teaching them things like transgenderism and bisexuality and hiding that from parents, they lose the parents' trust, and therefore, they should lose their jobs. Pretty simple, really. It would take a village idiot not to get it.
4. Russia-Ukraine War Update
Here’s today’s link to Fox News’ continually updated Russia-Ukraine news:
https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-putin-zelenskyy-live
The latest: US Marine veteran Willy Joseph Cancel, 22, has reportedly been killed while fighting alongside Ukrainians. He leaves behind a 7-month-old son and his wife Brittany, who called him “very brave and a hero.” She said, "He went there wanting to help people, he had always felt that that was his main mission in life."
It was also reported that a British man and a Danish man had died while fighting with Ukrainians, and two British volunteers have been captured by Russian troops while trying to help a Ukrainian family evacuate.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said he is grateful to President Biden and the "American people for the leadership in supporting Ukraine in our fight against Russian aggression."
And the North Carolina National Guard and those of other states will send armored vehicles to Ukraine.
5. From our “Who You Gonna Believe, Me Or Your Lying Eyes?” file
Here’s DHS Secretary Alajandro Mayorkas testifying to the House Appropriations Committee that the Biden Administration has “effectively managed” the ongoing border crisis (so add perjury to the growing list of reasons to impeach him.)
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/alejandro-mayorkas-immigration-border-biden-title-42
If they’re managing it so effectively, why have we seen a tsunami of illegal immigration that’s threatening to grow far worse? Mayorkas channeled his inner Bart Simpson (“I didn’t do it!”) by citing all sorts of things: COVID, the economic downturn, an increase in violence, climate change, and "we inherited a broken and dismantled system.” Unlike the President, I can remember things that happened as far back as last year, and I seem to recall that he inherited a fairly secure border that he deliberately broke and dismantled himself. In fact, he’s actually spent $2 billion of our tax money just paying off workers NOT to finish building the border wall.
I’ve long since learned that it’s pointless to try to make any sense of the ridiculous excuses doled out by this White House. There’s always someone else to blame for whatever disasters they’ve created, whether it’s the border, gas prices or the latest news that the economy shrank in the first quarter. The buck never stops with Biden; it gets passed anywhere else (and by the time he’s through with it, the buck is only worth 59 cents.)
But these jaw-dropping excuses are not meant to make sense. They’re just talking points fed to their media mouthpieces, who can repeat them with a straight face because they ignore the truth that would obliterate them. But everyone with a functioning brain knows why we have an “ongoing border crisis”: because this Administration erased the border.
6. NYT gets desperate on guns
Speaking of the left’s desperate attempts to deny the obvious, gun experts are slamming the New York Times’ attempt to connect the recent surge in violent crime to the increase in legal gun sales.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/increase-gun-sales-2020-increase-violent-crimes-experts
Gun rights researchers say most crime is committed with stolen or black market guns, and there is zero statistical evidence connecting rising legal sales of guns to the skyrocketing crime rate. In fact, many recent gun purchases have been due to citizens, especially women and minorities, buying guns to protect themselves from the rise in crime and the delayed police reactions caused by liberal policies. As one expert pointed out, legal gun sales in the US have been rising for 30 years as crime dramatically fell. If legal gun sales caused the crime surge, why did that only happen in the past two years?
There's a lot of info at the link, so read the whole thing. But I’d link to it just for this quote about violent criminals and gang members from the Heritage Foundation’s Charles Stimson:
“They're not going to the gun show with their kids and their wife and their Labrador retriever, with their red, white and blue flag on their car.”
7. Update
Matt Walsh revealed that shortly after a leaked Zoom call showed triggered Amazon employees plotting to undermine sales of his book “Johnny the Walrus” that lampoons radical trans activists, Amazon removed it from the children’s book category and pulled all ads for it. They claimed it’s “not appropriate.” Funny, it was appropriate enough that I had Matt on my show on TBN to talk about it, and as of yesterday, it was the #1 best-seller in two categories.

Meanwhile, we also had this news from Amazon. This isn’t because of the site’s hostility to conservatives (well, not entirely), but I enjoy thinking that it contributed to it.

8. Good News For Your Weekend
These are the kind of long-overdue stories we’re finally starting to see, and we need lots more. First, Sage Steele, the only openly conservative anchor at ESPN, is suing ESPN and parent company Disney for violating her free speech rights by suspending her for voicing her personal views on COVID vaccines and race relations and forcing her to issue a public apology. Why are ESPN and Disney trying to oppress a woman of color?
And a major Hollywood director, James Gunn of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” actually stood up to the online cancel culture mob and told them off for trying to destroy actor Chris Pratt over a “made-up, utterly false” accusation that he hates gay people and the actual fact that he’s a church-going Christian.
