DAILY BIBLE VERSE
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
Psalms 118:8 KJV
Certain Internet “gatekeepers” have decided my newsletter's fate...
I wrote recently about an investigation into all the liberal groups that fund and feed “information” to the A.P., and how that helps to explain why so many “news stories” on subjects like “climate change” read like activist group press releases. From those stories, you’d think there is no other viewpoint other than turned-up-to-11 hysteria. But that’s not at all true, as this story shows.
Unfortunately, if I summarize that story for you, it would possibly result in this newsletter being demonetized or blocked or having our ads removed by certain Internet “gatekeepers” who have decided that their views are the only objective truths allowed to be aired in public. This is why, if you’d like to help pay my staffers so that we can keep bringing you the real stories every American needs to know, you should subscribe to the Substack version. Just click here:
https://govmikehuckabee.
You’ll find subscription plans as low as $3 a month for the full newsletter with exclusive subscriber-only content, no gatekeeper censorship, and no ads. Plus, you get a 20% discount on “Huckabee” merchandise, so unlike an electric car, it really does pay for itself! But sorry, no government subsidies.
I email daily and my politics newsletters usually take 10-15 minutes to read. I cover the news of the day and the liberal media. I write about the upcoming elections and dive deep on the Biden scandals. I will also share my opinion of the Trump indictments. I don’t think you will regret supporting a reporting of the facts, not the liberal bias the mainstream media gives you these days!
With gratitude,

The second GOP primary debate
Last night, Fox Business News aired the second GOP primary debate, featuring seven of the candidates, but not Donald Trump, who is leading in polls by over 40 points and continues to ignore the debates.
Given that fact, and how badly done that debate was, I’m not sure how much space my readers want me to spend on it. So I’ll just give you a few general impressions, report on the reactions, point you to more if you want it, and move on to other things.
First of all, I think the two biggest impressions left on most viewers were of candidates talking loudly and unintelligibly over each other and moderators asking the dumbest questions since “The Newlywed Game.” Nobody covered him/herself in glory, but worst of all was moderator Ilia Calderon of Univision, who seemed to be asking questions straight out of a DNC email. With all the horrendous disasters of the Biden Administration that should have been addressed, she kept asking questions like, how will you help the Dreamers, or how will you reduce “gun violence”?
The obvious answer to that should have been, “No gun ever committed violence. Violence is committed by criminals, sometimes using guns that are almost exclusively obtained illegally, which is why gun control laws mostly disarm law-abiding citizens. Since statistics show that what you call ‘gun violence’ occurs almost exclusively in Democrat-run cities where criminals are set free over and over to prey on innocent citizens, the most effective thing people can do to stop it is to vote Democrats out of office and let Republicans run places like Chicago, New York, Detroit, Baltimore and L.A. for a change. Next question.”
And while I love Dana Perino, one embarrassing question blew up in her face when she asked the candidates to say which of them should be “voted off the island” “Survivor”-style. They all refused to answer and Ron DeSantis rightly called the question “disrespectful.” I’ve said before that these are not debates, they’re a TV game show, and this was the most obvious example of it yet.
As to who did the best job, it’s hard to say. DeSantis seemed to be the most controlled adult in the room (that includes the moderators), and he did a good job of addressing the threat of China and correcting Calderon for repeating Kamala Harris’ lie about Florida’s black history curriculum. His performance was probably good enough to keep him hanging in as the solid second choice, but he didn’t have any standout moments that might cause his support to jump. Ramaswamy did a good job of staying positive and not attacking the others. And North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum barely got a word in but was good when he did. His own opinion of the debate was no higher than mine.
A couple of the candidates tried one-line zingers that fell flat (Tip: hire comedy writers who know your personality well enough to craft jokes that work coming out of your mouth and don't make the audience cringe.)
With possibly the most important election in American history looming, and a three-year Biden record of not just failure but willful destruction of the nation that should have been the main focus, we mostly got candidates fielding dumb questions straight off cue cards from “The View” and attacking one another at headache-inducing volume. The whole evening was perhaps best exemplified by the moment when Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy started yelling over each other about curtains. I kid you not.
https://www.westernjournal.com/gop-debate-contenders-insist-trump-shown-heated-exchange-curtains/
(One commentator mentioned that Haley’s best moment was telling Ramaswamy, "Every time I hear you, I feel a little bit dumber for what you say." But this was undercut when it was noted that his book carries a blurb praising his vision and intellect from…Nikki Haley.)
Some of the terms pundits used to describe the debate included “unwatchable,” “idiotic” and “hot mess.” Many said the winner was Donald Trump for not showing up, while the Babylon Bee declared that the winner was “the mute button.” A couple of live bloggers from PJ Media suggested for the next debate shock collars for the candidates when they talk over someone else whose turn it is, and stronger shock collars for the moderators when they repeat leftist talking points. If that sounds cruel, it’s nicer than Chris Queen’s suggestion of trap doors under the podiums. Another commentator had the line of the night when he tweeted when it was over that he couldn’t wait to go into the bathroom, light some candles, dim the lights and slip into a nice hot bath with his wife’s hair dryer.
Fox News has reactions from prominent conservatives…

Redstate.com condensed the evening into seven particularly wild moments…
Here’s what Fox Business News thinks were five “breakout moments” (I don’t think they mean breaking out in yelling; there were far more than five of those)…

Breitbart.com had an excellent live running commentary that summed it all up well in the moment...
This is the Daily Caller’s take…
And for true masochists, here’s the entire debate streaming online. You’ll need a cable TV subscription to sign in, but I’m sure it’s worth the money. Just remember to keep your finger on the mute button…

Trump in Michigan
Former President Trump didn’t attend the GOP debate or even watch it. He was speaking to striking UAW auto workers in Michigan. Trump praised them as the people “who built this country” and who make it run. He said, “I put everything on the line to fight for you. I have risked it all to defend the working class from the corrupt political class that has spent decades sucking the life, wealth, and blood out of this country. That’s why I’m here tonight to lay out a vision for a revival of economic nationalism.”
https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2023/09/27/trump-in-michigan-you-built-this-country/
His elitist critics will look at that, see the word “nationalism” and call him a fascist, while I suspect the working people in the crowd who’ve been hammered by Bidenflation and stagnant wage growth will get what he’s saying. This is why they ignore the partisan indictments. They've learned to have zero respect for the people behind them, and Trump is very clear in reminding them of why.
While Trump didn’t watch the debate, he did offer a reaction to Chris Christie calling him “Donald Duck” (“Duck,” get it? He “ducked” the debate!...Is this an audience or an oil painting?) Trump offered a deadly rejoinder based on one of his most notable skills:
“Anyone that would come up with that nickname shouldn’t be running for President.”
Biden tried to steal Trump’s thunder, it didn’t work out too well
The day before Trump spoke to striking auto workers in Michigan, President Biden attempted to steal his thunder by showing up to walk the picket line with them. It was a move that I’d call highly inappropriate. It’s one thing to take sides in a major labor dispute when you’re a candidate, but when you’re the President and ostensibly in charge of the Labor Department, you should try at least to pretend to stay above taking sides. But then, Biden has never been shy about proclaiming that he’s owned 100% by labor unions.
Still, many of the workers who spoke to reporters weren’t impressed by Biden’s political theater. His visit was just a brief stopover on his way to a big bucks fundraiser, and they know his push for electric cars is killing their jobs just as his economy is killing their budgets. It was notable that during his visit, he failed even to mention his EV mandates. Also worth noting: all the CO2 spewed by Air Force One to take him on this trip to suck up to autoworkers who’ve been hurt by his campaign to force everyone else to cut their CO2 emissions.
Brooks Robinson RIP
Major League Baseball announced that Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson has died at 86.
https://www.mlb.com/orioles/news/brooks-robinson-dies-at-86
Robinson was born in Little Rock, but spent his entire 23-year career with Baltimore, earning him the nickname “Mr. Oriole.” He was also known as “The Human Vacuum Cleaner” for his defensive skills. During his legendary and lengthy career, he won 16 Gold Glove Awards, the most ever for a non-pitcher. He was an 18-time All-Star, the 1964 American League MVP Award winner, a two-time World Series champion (1966 and ’70), and MVP of the Fall Classic in 1970. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983 as the first third baseman to be elected in his first year of eligibility. After he retired from the field, he continued working with the MLB Players Alumni Association.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement, "I will always remember Brooks as a true gentleman who represented our game extraordinarily well on and off the field all his life.”
His Dad, Brooks Sr., was a Captain in the Little Rock Fire Department and my firefighter Dad knew him. When I was a 15-year-old sportscaster at KXAR Radio in Hope, AR, thanks to their friendship, I was granted an interview with Brooks Robinson. I was a nobody kid working at a little radio station in Hope, AR, but Brooks Robinson treated me like I was Curt Gowdy. What a class act! He was a giant on and off the field.
Our condolences to his family, friends and many fans.
Philadelphians, you voted for this
Wednesday night, Philadelphia suffered its second night in a row of rampant lawlessness and looting. There were more than 50 arrests as social media-fueled mobs stripped stores bare and even stole an ATM. More than a dozen liquor stores were so thoroughly denuded of merchandise that the state announced it's closing its locations until further notice. There’s no point in reopening if everything is just going to get stolen again. And that’s the state: imagine being a private store owner without state resources.
I want to feel sympathy, and I do feel very sorry for the store owners and direct victims of crime. But let's face facts: Philadelphians, you voted for this. Time and again, you’ve elected and reelected incompetent, criminal-coddling Democrats who are destroying your city and turning it over to rule by criminal mobs. At some point, those of us standing by watching this chaos lose patience with your stubborn blindness to reality. It’s like being the relative of a heroin addict: at some point, you have to stop enabling them and show some tough love.
If you really want this to stop, you know how to save yourselves. It starts by admitting you have a problem and renouncing your addiction to voting Democrat.
Evidence released supporting whistleblower testimony in Hunter case
As Oversight Committee Chair James Comer of Kentucky anticipated Tuesday, the committees in charge of the House impeachment inquiry of President Biden have released more information that supports allegations of special treatment for Hunter Biden. As it contains personal tax information, it had to be voted out of committee by House Ways & Means (and yes, Hunter’s attorneys, they’re allowed to do that.) Here’s a link to everything that was released on Wednesday.
I know, overwhelming. They released 700 pages, the entire testimony of the IRS whistleblowers, after which a number of Democrats came to the mic to say there was still NO DIRECT EVIDENCE implicating President Biden in this. I’m sure they had all read and analyzed every page, just like they read 2,000-page budget bills overnight. When they still insist on repeating this talking point, it’s downright amusing.
In fact, Jessica Tarlov on Fox News’ THE FIVE became quite impassioned on Wednesday afternoon, trying to explain why a $260,000 payment from Chinese business associates showing up at then-presidential candidate Joe Biden’s home is okay. She said James Comer “is misrepresenting this case completely” over the issue of the address, as Comer had acknowledged Hunter used the Delaware home address “during this period.” I like to cut Tarlov a little slack, because she always has her work cut out for her at a table full of non-leftists --- sitting next to Judge Jeanine Pirro, no less, who usually decimates any opponent --- but have to say that this time she got off too easy because of the time constraints of broadcasting.
Just two facts should cancel out her ravings about Republicans “embarrassing themselves”: (1.) Indications are that Hunter was NOT living at his father’s house but in California when the transfers arrived, so he would not have been the one to receive them, and, especially, (2.) the finances of Hunter and Joe Biden are known to have been co-mingled. Their business and political lives were enmeshed --- to what extent? That’s what investigators are trying to determine. Of course, they have the email from Hunter complaining about having to give 50 percent of his earnings to his dad. Meanwhile, the very real arrival of a huge Chinese payment to Hunter showing up at the doorstop of his presidential-candidate father, Hunter’s “asset,” just looks dirty, because it is.
Another thing that’s always good to say when leftists defend the indefensible about the Bidens: I wonder what you would be saying about this right now, given the same scenario, if it involved Don Trump, Jr., and HIS father. And then just walk away. (I guarantee you, WE would not be defending it. That seems to be one of the main differences between Republicans and Democrats.)
Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith spoke at a press conference on Wednesday, saying that if what is in these 700 pages is okay with you, “then we live on two different planets.”
One item Smith released was a text message from June 6, 2017, from Hunter that referred to his father as “my family’s only asset.”
Smith said, “These documents show a clearer connection between Joe Biden, his public office, and Hunter Biden’s global influence peddling scheme that resulted in over $20 million in payments to the Biden family...The evidence shows a pattern of Hunter Biden creating for-profit entities to shield out at least $20 million from foreign sources from taxes and hide the trail of payments that led to members of the Biden family.”
Something else that emerges from these pages, as reported in REDSTATE, is that James Biden, Joe Biden’s brother, tried to help Chinese energy company CEFC buy key U.S. energy assets while knowing the firm’s leader had direct ties to Chinese President Xi Jinping. Specifically, they were trying to buy a liquid natural gas facility on Monkey Island off the coast of Louisiana.
Here’s the entire interview the FBI had with James…
https://justthenews.com/sites/default/files/2023-09/T19%20Exhibit%20401-Memo
According to FBI notes, “James B noted (Hunter) portrayed CEFC to him as Chairman Ye was a protege of President Xi.”
As Georgia Rep. Austin Scott said Wednesday, “It just means that it’s even worse than even I thought it was, that they would go that far. If you look at some of those ports in Louisiana...like Port Fourchon, that area of Louisiana, just a tremendous portion of the energy that we use inside the United States comes through those hubs. And the idea that you would help the Chinese acquire assets in that area to give, you know, an adversary the ability to control the energy supply inside the United States, I don’t understand how much more of a traitor you could be than to do such a thing.”
During Smith’s press conference, he showed a map with 23 countries that were allegedly involved in Hunter’s business enterprise. (This in itself is not evidence, but it points to how wide the investigation needs to be.) Also, to demonstrate how the IRS investigation had been interfered with, he displayed an email from Delaware Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf instructing the investigators to remove references to Joe Biden (“Political figure 1”) from a search warrant. And there’s an investigators’ memo saying a CNN producer had received a memo from Hunter saying he expected that when his father became President, all this “stuff” (his tax investigation) would “go away.” Good detail here; a must-read...
Smith also showed a text Hunter allegedly sent a business associate describing the family “brand” as an asset.
Finally, Ways and Means also released a very interesting 2016 memo from the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma to Yuri Lutsenko, the new prosecutor who replaced Viktor Shokin after Joe Biden apparently got Shokin fired. This was at the time Hunter was on Burisma’s board.
“As Members of the Board of Directors,” it says in part, “we respectfully request that allegations of criminal activity made by you and/or members of your office cease…”
It appears Burisma was getting its money’s worth in terms of influence. Much more here…
A Secret Program
Axios reported that President Biden’s campaign team is focused on a secret program to get him reelected called “Don’t Let Him Trip.” They fear that his biggest obstacle to winning a second term is his inability not to fall over on his face in public.
https://www.westernjournal.com/biden-campaign-team-secret-mission-called-dont-let-trip/
Personally, I thought that the biggest obstacle to his reelection was him tripping over his own tongue. They should launch a secret program called “Don’t Let Him Talk.”
#11
It was reported that President Biden’s German Shepherd dog bit another Secret Service agent, bringing the total number of biting incidents to 11 in just two years.
Does anyone else wonder if maybe it’s really Joe biting them, and they’re just blaming the dog? I’ll bet it wouldn’t be the first thing Joe did that he blamed on the dog.
Besieged by Pirates
Since San Francisco has regressed back to the days before there was civilized society, with gangs looting stores at will and homeless people shooting up, having sex and going to the bathroom on the sidewalks, it’s no surprise that boaters in San Francisco Bay are now being besieged by pirates. I’m not joking: actual, “shiver me timbers” pirates. What’s next, pillaging by Vikings? You can see why I call them “regressives” instead of "progressives."
https://www.foxnews.com/us/seabound-bandits-terrorize-san-francisco-bay-amid-surge-homeless-camps
But you can only go backwards for so long, even in San Francisco. The Democrat Mayor, London Breed, just shocked fellow liberals by announcing a new policy: if you want to receive homeless services, you have to submit to mandatory drug testing and treatment. In a statement, Breed said, "San Francisco is a city of compassion, but also a city that demands accountability."
Someone should tell that to the pirates.
Crazy, Rightwing Conspiracy Corner, Or “Why Nobody Trusts The Government Anymore”
1. The Congressional Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic reported that Dr. Anthony Fauci was sneaked into CIA headquarters to influence their findings on the origins of COVID-19, and no records of his entry or participation were kept.
2. An investigation by Ken Silva of Headline USA looked at FBI infiltration of far-right and neo-Nazi groups, and whether it’s gone disturbingly beyond just keeping tabs on them.

If you’re worried that our “woke” military might not be capable anymore of winning a war, this won’t help put you at ease:
West Point, which used to be our most elite military school, is now offering a minor in “Diversity and Inclusion.” That'll scare China.
Latest “Sound of Freedom” attack is debunked as fake news
Ever since the movie “Sound of Freedom” came out, liberal media outlets have been trying to destroy it, with zero success. They’ve launched all kinds of ridiculous accusations, including that it’s based on QAnon conspiracy theories, when it was written before anyone even heard of QAnon.
One of the latest that many liberals smugly assumed was the kill shot was a report that a major funder of the movie was himself being charged with kidnapping children. Well, we have a rule around here that they didn’t follow: Be suspicious of any story that’s too “on the nose.” For instance, one that would perfectly match whatever someone’s political opponent wants you to think of them.
Well, that story has now been officially debunked as fake news. Brad Slager at Redstate.com has the details, but it should have been obvious just from the claim that this guy is a major funder of the movie. It was crowdfunded and he gave a whopping $500. But that’s just the beginning of what all the hysterical news reports got wrong.
This still leaves the question that’s been hanging in the ozone ever since the first of many media attacks: “Why is the mainstream media so upset that people are seeing a film that exposes and denounces the sexual exploitation of minors?”
Here’s a good example of the kind of perverted blasphemy you end up with when pastors abandon the Bible and start preaching out of the New York Times editorial page:
In recent years, there has been an alarming trend of government and political activists trying to co-opt religion to push far-left political agendas that directly contradict Biblical teachings, and far too many churches have gone along with it. Here’s a good example of the kind of perverted blasphemy you end up with when pastors abandon the Bible and start preaching out of the New York Times editorial page:
A truly sick pro-abortion group is putting billboards up along highways in red states reading, “God’s plan includes abortion.” No, it does not. First of all, I’m pretty sure that if God’s plan were for you not to have children, He wouldn’t give you a child and expect you to murder it. And since I suspect that nobody involved with this grotesque organization has ever even read the Bible, here are a few quotes that make it abundantly clear that God does not view a baby in the womb as a disposable lump of tissue:
Jeremiah 1:5 - “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Psalm 22:9-10 – “Yet you are he who took me from the womb; you made me trust you at my mother's breasts. On you was I cast from my birth, and from my mother's womb you have been my God.”
Isaiah 49:5 – “And now the Lord says, he who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him; and that Israel might be gathered to him— for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord, and my God has become my strength—"
Isaiah 49:1 – “Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name.”
Isaiah 44:2 – “Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.”
Isaiah 44:24 – “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: ‘I am the Lord, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself’”
Luke 1:44 – “For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.”
Galatians 1:15 – “But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace,”
Job 31:15 – “Did not he who made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?”
Psalm 139:13-16 - “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”
Finally, there’s this verse, which doesn’t directly refer to a child in the womb, but I would strongly suggest that the people putting up those blasphemous billboards think long and hard about it:
Psalm 1:6 – “For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”
