On this holiest of weekends, there is more evidence that Christians are under assault on all fronts from emboldened secular forces on the left. To list just a few headlines from the past couple of days:

Archbishop Joseph Naumann, Chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, is under attack for saying that President Biden should stop claiming to be a “devout Catholic” when he’s actively promoting and funding huge numbers of abortions. Frankly, that not only sounds quite reasonable, it also sounds like exactly what a Catholic Archbishop who’s a chairman of a pro-life committee would be expected to say. I guess my “outrage trigger” just isn’t sensitive enough for these times.

The gay and lesbian group GLAAD is fervently embracing the concept of blacklisting people for their religious beliefs and for not 100% embracing their personal views on sex and politics. And as with many shameless totalitarian censors, blacklisters and inquisitors down through the dark days of history, they’re not much concerned about whether the people they’re trying to destroy are actually guilty or even if the accusers don’t even have their own facts straight.

In a reminder of how important it is that we guard our First Amendment against those that are trying to destroy it, a Christian actress in Great Britain was fired from a production of “The Color Purple” after someone dug up a four-year-old Facebook post in which she said she personally believes in the Biblical view of homosexuality. The Twitter mob made her the object of an organized hate and terror campaign, demanding that the theater fire the “homophobe.” There were even death threats against her. She was fired, dropped by her agency, and blacklisted by the local theater industry. So she appealed her firing to an Employment Tribunal on grounds of religious discrimination.

A spokesperson for a Christian group defending said it should have been an open-and-shut case, since the arguments against her included that her beliefs "were not worthy of respect in a democratic society and of legal protection.” However, the judges not only ruled against her, they also ordered her to pay the other side’s inflated legal costs of $480,000, despite the fact that in that court, both sides are supposed to pay their own costs. It was described as a heavy-handed punitive measure, designed to bully her and all Christian into thinking they can be discriminated against and they’d better not dare to protest.

At the University of North Texas, a conservative Christian group tried what they thought was a fun Easter event by hiding plastic Easter eggs around the campus with positive, non-controversial Bible verses inside. The angry leftist contingent reacted with predictable OUTRAGE and fury, protesting that it’s offensive because not all students are Christian (and would they attack a Muslim or Buddhist event because not all students are Muslim or Buddhist?), organizing to stomp the eggs, and (of course) urging one of the Christian students to kill herself. (Note: our writer Pat Reeder is a UNT honors alumnus, but he says that if these little jerks aren’t expelled, he renounces all ties with his former school.)

With so many of these stories every day, it can be disheartening to fight them. It seems easier just to shut up, keep your head down and let the targets of the left’s crazed wrath twist in the wind. But this is one of those times when you should ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?” Would He want you to keep quiet about your faith and not defend it, or stand up for those who are under assault?

I think the answer can be found in 1 Peter, 3:15-16: “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.”

Thanks, Mike for putting book and verse on the end of your article. It greatly encouraged me to continue my faith in Christ no matter the circumstances. I appreciate you!

Thank you. What would Jesus Do?? He would want us to stand up strong and speak out These opportunities to speak out or just what they are the more they occur the more opportunity we have to stand up and speak out and be heard and Sue if necessary just to be heard.

Just wait. Sooner or later Muslims will be attacked too, as they are in China, which- by the way - also attacks Tibetan Buddhists. Socialism is the state religion and the Party is the priesthood.

Only the beginning Mike. Soon I expect to see actual martyrs like we have seen before in history. We must make our faith strong, and pray....Thank you Sir. B

totally agree. As a PASTOR, I see it, we are at war with the Prince of the earth. "BUT GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN ME, THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD." Thanks Pastor Huckabee. GOD SPEED.

Thank you for referencing 1 Peter, 3:15-16 in regards to how to respond to the increasing attacks on our faith and values. It's an odd and discouraging position to find ourselves in, after the peace we've historically enjoyed in America, but what an amazing opportunity to show the world the joy we have because of our faith and confidence in the Lord! "When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we entreat". May our savior give us the peace and courage to speak thus and not with the bitter mockery of our secular conservative counterparts.

So I was hoping to go to UNT for my master's degree in studio art. My art theme is the history of Christianity with emphasis on the Last Days. I've been turned down once, and probably this time, although I improved my work. I want to go there because of the small town but close to Ft. Worth and Dallas, where my only living relatives live. Is this school too liberal to be comfortable for me, or would they accept my theme, do you think?

When I was a young girl, Corrie Ten Boon was a very populer speaker and I was priviledged to hear her speak several times. I often thought if I were faced with a line drawn in the sand would I step over to stand for Jesus or would I faulter. I believe I will step over the line and I certainly hope that I would because we may have to make that decession sooner than we might think. This world is not our perminent home but until then, we do have to live in it but can not be of it. My grandchildren are my biggest concern. They are all Christians and haveing made a profession of faith but how much pain can one endure, or persecution, critism, redicule or hatred can one stand is the question. For them, it is hard to separate the sin from the person and love the person but hate the sin and still have friends. Choices are being removed and lines are being drawn and for most, no middle ground or respect for one another's views is acceptable. We no longer can agree to disagree which leaves less and less room to witness. My prayer; Come quickly Lord Jesus, come quickly.

God bless you, Mike, for your devotion to the Lord and for standing up for all Americans.

I have a couple of thoughts about what MLB did. First of all, will all the other teams “decide” they can no longer go to Atlanta (or other red leaning cities)? President Trump is right, in one sense, saying that not supporting MLB would make an impact on their pocketbook and hopefully cause them to rethink their unfair policy.

Also, companies that pretty much ban the state of Georgia. I laughed out loud when I saw a headline that GA GOP folks were telling Coca Cola to get out and not allow sales of their products in the state. Companies and sports can do whatever they want, but there are always consequences. For instance, Delta Airlines is against the GA voting laws. They could be told to, pardon the pun, take a flying leap out of GA. If they could no longer fly into or out of GA, it would hurt their bottom dollar immensely. Other airlines would rush to fill the needs.

The state could ban all extreme leftish tv and movie productions of entertainment from being shown within the state since they want to prevent any future productions from being done in GA.

If states continue to respond in like manner, perhaps we as a nation can come back to being a nation wanting to work together for the re-uniting of America. We began as a nation with a lot of ideas and there were many a battle choosing courses of action. They did what we no longer do, they actually listened to each others’ points of view.

Our nation ultimately most needs God and His blessing.

This is my second comment...hope it is ok to submit two.
In any case.....I have seen much in the way of censorship of Christian pastors on the internet....some are moving to their own sites. However, many times the comments are also shocking in that many are anti-Jewish or anti-Christian.
My comment regarding Judiasm is that it can exist without Christianity, but Christianity cannot exist without Judiasm because Jesus Himself was a Jew from the line of David. It is we who follow Jesus that are the Christians.
And for those who rant against different Christian sects (many spreading lies about beliefs), I can usually shut them up by writing: "Jesus Himself said 'Let those among you who are without sin, cast the first stone'." Or...depending upon what is said....write that Jesus said "Judge not lest ye be judged".

That being said....the attack against both Jews and Christians is on the increase in the media and in our lives. As people of faith we must always stand up against this...even at the cost of our own lives. That day will come. Jesus, Himself warned of this in Matthew 24.

Going to paraphrase here--but Jesus said that when He returns, He should find us going about His Father's business....and that if we deny Jesus before men, then He will deny us before His Father in heaven.
We had a disaster several weeks ago at our rural church. The entire altar area and front of the buikding was destroyed by a truck. Have never in my entire life witnessed news travelling by word of mouth so fast....and with so much speculation as to the cause of the crash and who/what was responsible.

My perception of this may differ from other people. But a church is just a building unless it contains human believers in Jesus Christ because believers are where the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit reside. A "church" can be in a basement, an attick, a cave....Jesus said "Wherever two or more are gathered in My name, there I am also."

So...is the destruction of the building a catastrophe...yes...in some ways. However, God causes and/or allows things to happen for His own purposes.
I would suggest that in our situation, we view this as an opportunity to reach out to the person responsible and their family....with grace and forgiveness. And that we use this situation to reach out to others in our area, inviting and welcoming them into our church to learn about Jesus Christ before it is too late.

What about this bill that got signed into effect recently? It gave doctors the right to refuse services to anyone that has religious views that offends them! And yes we have blatant homosexually running rampant in America. It wouldn't surprise me if there may be a time to come again when a horde of men see two very good-looking strangers that they don't recognize come into a town and go to a person's home. Now the leader of the group of mean says let us go and tell the man in that house we are going to have sex with those two men. They beat on the door until the man answers the door. They tell him to send out the two men saying they are going to have sex with the two men. The old man at the door says leave them alone I have two daughters I will send them out instead. If this sounds familiar it is because it has happened already. Now I would assume instead of fire and brimstone raining down immediately things would in our modern time, the men break in raping everyone in the house. Then instead of them being arrested and tried locked up in prison. Since the gang of me was so many they would say that the accusers are lying. And the way things are heading the court would believe the guilty to be innocent. This is just a hypothetical situation unfortunately bad things are happening all around us. Repent and be saved. But believers must remain faithful because Jesus Christ will come soon. Whatever we do we must not lose faith.

I love your report on the attacks on Christianity. I’ve read the book of Revelations and it predicts the attacks on the church I truly believe that we are fast approaching the return of Christ. I pray daily for this nation to return to the Lord. I believe Jesus would pray for all the lost souls and try to turn them back from the devils lies. The Archbishop was absolutely correct in his call to President Biden. You are a member of Christ’s family do you feel like the Lord’s return is just around the corner? Thanks for your newsletter. Keep it up!

Mike, Mentally, emotionally, spiritually, scriptural, i cannot come up an answer as to why such atrocities have fallen upon this nation. To witness this attack on the Christian's of America is hard for my mind and heart to comprehend. Just within the last 2 months, the whole world has gone into utter turmoil. I cannot imagine how the world is going thru all this without Jesus. Any clarity about this? Just keep praying and believing
God will have to sort this out, it's too much for us, even President Trump couldnt get us out of this mess.

    Happy Resurrection Day Gov. Huckabee!
Spot on! Christians are definitely under attack. I have written on my chalkboard where I can see it every day when reading the news: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind. 2 Tim. 1:7 and below that, The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous will stand. Prov. 12:7. More and more Bible believing pastors, priests, leaders, etc. will need to call out untruth more and more and lead their flocks in truth, God's truth. If Biden is as devout as he claims, why is he advocating the very agendas the Catholic church is against...does he even read the Bible he carries???

I brought a message to my church back in September of 2020 where I explained all the chaos going on has one ultimate goal and that was a complete assault against the Christian church and the christian faith and ultimately against Christ Himself. All the side issues are just a smoke screen. Who stands for life in lieu of abortion. Who stands against the LGBTQ agenda. Who supports Israel. Who supports law and order. Who supports the constitution. Who supports and welcomes legal immigration. When you consider all the issues, it becomes apparent Christians are the ultimate focus of the attack. We are the enemy of the lefts insanity.

  • Kathy Batzelle

    04/03/2021 03:47 PM

Hello Mike. Thank you for reporting on this insanity. Where did these people get the idea that Easter eggs have anything to do with Christianity or following Christ? An Easter egg is totally secular. It's not a not a cross, or a dove, or a crown of thorns. For goodness sake it's a plastic egg which represents secular beliefs toward their celebration. These people are so over-the-top crazy they can't even sort out between what represents Christ and Christian beliefs and secular beliefs. The more this goes on the sadder it becomes for a nation that was founded and grounded by our Christian forefathers.

While this is disheartening, we need to do as Daniel of the Old Testament did when the King issued a decree that all should bow down and worship him or be cast into the lions' den:
Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Daniel 6:10-11.
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I John 4:4

Yes, we need to do what we can to stop this persecution, but let's not forget what our greatest weapon is!
