“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

I disagree with you on the comment that the Constitution be followed, 'METICULOUSLY'. Let me make sure I have this right, we're to follow all the laws all the time and the other side doesn't, specifically referring to this last election. No one can follow anything perfectly including the Bible. We can try but we'll never be perfect. Mike Pence isn't perfect and yet suddenly he felt every rule had to be followed perfectly? That's called Legalism. The point of people gathering on Jan. 6th was to show solidarity and support for Pres. Trump standing up for the people and showing the USA what took place on Nov. 3rd, 2020. I'm VERY disappointed in Mike Pence. Why didn't he say something way before Jan. 6th, in that he wasn't in agreement with the decision to not accept the fraudulent, certified electoral votes? Furthermore, we now know ANTIFA was involved.

Re: Healing a different wound: The Golden Rule and Civil Rights
Over the past few months, I've been thinking about another time when our country was a house divided against itself. On Wednesday, we saw again the fruits of angry division. The explanations and soul-searching are well underway, but the healing...?
From the earliest days of our republic, both secular and religious people have worried that our country might not be worthy of great success, that we're just not getting it quite right. The human race knows well that it has much room for improvement, but it seems like we sometimes forget to celebrate our successes and our partial successes. Bear with me because I'm thinking about the Civil Rights movement.
Obviously, race relations in our country are not everything we would like them to be. In the 1960s, there was a concerted effort to apply the Golden Rule to black people all around the country, and to do it with the help of our legal system. Some people have benefited greatly from that beginning. I can imagine that God smiled over those efforts, but as far as I know, the churches of our country have never, as a group, celebrated the achievements and the many lofty goals of this movement.
It's important to celebrate victories and good intentions. Wouldn't it be an inspiration if churches around the country coordinated with each other, and with other religions, and secular organizations, to set aside a weekend (after Covid) to celebrate that example of the Golden Rule in practice, the ideals and the important accomplishments of the Civil Rights movement?
Maybe I'm suffering from the (mild) after-effects of my Covid shot, but I wanted to share my thoughts with you. After seeing Wednesday's imperfect storm, maybe a time of faith-led celebration in recognition of progress made, and the awareness of ideals unfulfilled would be a blessing to us all. I apologize for my clumsy efforts at communication.

It is Monday, 1/11/21 ABOUT 11.55 AM and I am listening to Rudy Limbaugh's radio show. A Man just called in who said he and his wife were at the event at the Capital. He said the speech the President was giving was so dull or whatever his words were, that he and his wife left and walked to the Capital. He then said in the last couple seconds that when they got there, the people that stormed the capital WERE ALREADY THERE....

Unfortunately, President Trump has received more of the blame for this forced entry to the Capitol. It was evident there were many that came prepared to break in with the ropes and arms they had with them. Many of them have also participated in the riots this summer and fall. Changing the rules for voting in swing states by bureaucrats and not legislatures was wrong. Courts not willing to consider the evidence. These factors did not help the day. President Trump has been an excellent president. The election rule changes did not help the day. I am so sorry to see our President so poorly treated by the Democrats and the media.

I too feel there should be strong condemnation of these acts. BUT I also feel that probably ANTIFA and others infiltrated the peaceful protesters just like they did the peaceful BLM protests. That is where the peaceful people should have quit and backed out so as not to give themselves a bad name.

  • Marta Gerrity

    01/10/2021 04:25 AM

It wasn't only republicans participating in the protests.
Where were all the Dems and liberals when there was 6months of trashing many american cities, destroying businesses,, attacking law enforcement, etc. The violence and destruction was far worse and no one on the left said a word.. they kept calling them mostly peaceful protests when none of them were protests they were all riots.

I appreciate you & your loyalty to our President. What disturbed me is your words saying President’s speech insured any of this. We know this was orchestrated by infiltrators & they were welcomed in “strangely” seemed to be an inside job!

I do not believe all of these people were Pres. Trump supporters. I believe a few got it going and it got out of hand. Now these people will have to pay, serving time for their criminal acts. As far as Pres. Trump, I don't believe he had any idea that this would go on. I just wish him the best.

Dear gov. Huckabee, I agree with u but, with all the media frenzy and the oh my goodness, look at what this mob of trump terrorists are doing to the capitol! I mean u would have thought it was antifa and blm during the summer of burning down cities, harassing old people and terrorizing families with small children. Even your own daughter got kicked out of a little ole restaurant for pity sakes! Sad that a young woman lost her life, but trump had nothing to with that. Only people to blame are the democrats and fake news media. Honest hard working Americans are just plain tired of being ignored. Stealing of our votes for trump was the very last straw. Don’t agree with any violence but all summer long we heard nothing but crickets from the other side. And now we are suppose to just roll over and accept Biden as our legally voted president? Think not sir, Biden will never be my president! And hopefully, like Obama did, President Trump will still be working behind the curtains, to make America great again. And I am not in no way implying that Obama was trying to maga, no he worked to continue to destroy America! Thats how his buddy joe got elected. Sorry to be so blunt, but u did ask for one’s opinion. Peace to u gov. H! Love hearing u on Fox, but sadly, think I will not be tuning in to them anymore.

I’m still having a problem rationalizing that it was actually Trump supporters who(stormed)The capital. One of the interviews I saw was of a young man, scraggly in appearance, with a Maga hat on backwards, which was supposed to be a trademark of Antifa infiltrators. In my heart I don’t believe these were true patriots, or true Trump supporters.

When I first heard that Trump supporters stormed the Capital Building I thought the people have had enough. Then it has been discovered that the whole mess was planned well in advance by the communists that have taken over the democratic party. The Republicans have turned a blind eye to the evidence of an election that was stolen. I am not appalled at the violence because the Government has been corrupted for decades.

I want the proof Trump incited violence. They took down his Tweets and FB feed, and I believe it was a cover-up because they showed he did no such thing. More false accusations!

  • ellen a norlock

No matter what President Trump said, it would never have been enough. During his campaign, he was constantly being greeted with accolades of love and respect which I believe gave him a sense of comfort in his winning. Only God will tell me, at the time of my death, who actually won the election and I believe, with what I know at this time, President Trump did win. That's not because he says it is so, but I feel it in my gut and with the knowledge, the gift of the Holy Spirit. Now, all of a sudden, everyone is jumping on his grave and those afraid of what he was about to reveal and jealous of his lifestyle will continue to crucify him unto death. Plus, his legacy will be torn down and all the good works he did while in office will be overturned.

  • Bonnie Wyeth

    01/08/2021 07:35 PM

Additionally, I believe that this election has multiple violations and I am shocked that the Republican party is so poorly supporting a thorough investigation! Should an investigation prove that Trump should have won, then just how many of our party, by failing to stand for American Citizens in demanding an investigation, and instead remained SEATED to protect their JOBS, will find themselves "cotton-mouthed" first, approving what was wrong and then trying to explain their weak-kneed decisions! Integrity seems to be in short supply among both party members! What a mess and what a
a slap in the face of Patriotism and faith in what should be the truth of our electorial system!!!

  • Bonnie Wyeth

    01/08/2021 06:53 PM

I have supported President Trump since the beginning. Now, I feel that he has let me and others down when he allowed his temper and sence of justice get in the way of a possible resolution and, he should have totally and quickly demanded violators cease and desist and leave the capital, while making sure the capital police had all the support they needed, and quickly too! Pence is a HUGE disappointment bc he showed himself as being a WOOSE, a WHIMP and disloyal!

    IF we had an honest media, it would be pointed out that BLM & ANTIFA were impersonating Conservatives. A note to Pelosi & Schumer;
YOU CAN FOOL ALL OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, SOME OF THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME, BUT YOU CANNOT FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME. 10% Of the media is still NOT under the Control of the CCP acolytes.

I agree, this was horrible, but i dont believe my President entended for this to happen. He was cheated out of his election as our President, and Biden will not be my President, he willbring horrible things to this country, and i am asking God to give me whatever it is i will need to help be through this time in our country.

Thank you to you and your staff for the good work you do.
I am utterly a gust that 72 million peoples concern for our voting system can be so ignored. I am very disappointed in our Judicial system. None of them are even slightly interested. I believe the swamp runs deeper than any of us can immagine.

Too bad it had to end like this after four years of success. I still pray for God to help him to see that things don't always go our way. Maybe God had other plans for him and he just didn't recognize it.God help us all under this administration and he will if we will humble ourselves and pray, Thanks Mike for keeping us informed.

YESI DO DEFINITELY KNOW NOW HOW OLE LIBERAL HUCKABEE REALLY IS. DID HE KNOW THAT SOME OF THE INSTAGATORS ARE ACTUALLY ANTIFA. IT DON'T HOW BAD THE PRESIDENT HOWLS AT ITS OWN THE LIBERALS WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED. HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF WHY IT WAS SOO EASY TO GET IN WITHOUT POLICE PROTECTION!!
MAYBE THE MAYOR OF DC WANTED IT THAT WAY MAYBE SHE WANTED SOME SCHEMESTERS TO OPEN THE DOOR AND COME ON IN. WE KNOW FROM AFFIDAVIDS THAT THOUSANDS OF VOTERS WE\RE LIED TO AND DEFINITELY FRAUD ABUNDUNTLY. THIS HAS BEEN BUILDING UP AND NOW WE KNOW WHO THE SWAMP CREATURES ARE FOR SURE!!

  • Lola Thimmesch

Anyone, such as yourself, need to remember that any violence from accused Trump followers is NOT done by Trump followers. How about remembering Antifa who love to do damage under the guise of MAGA. I think you should find out which liberal(s) are behind Antifa, who are generously paying them to plow damage and allow the public to know that truth. We will never have a president as good as Trump, and we need him now more than ever. Biden is in bed with the CCP which means nothing good for the USA will be coming from that man.

  • Betty Bryant

    01/08/2021 03:00 PM

Sorry but I am not going to fall into the Democrat trap and condemn the Trump supporters that were there to protest. Sure, the violence was uncalled for and I believe led by people that planned it to discredit the protesters. Some over excited supporters probably fell for the encouragement of the planners and followed them but that does not condemn the thousands that were peaceful. If this had been a truly violent mob, imagine what they could have done. I knew many of the people there and they are very patriotic, proud Americans. They are not going to change.

What more can be said? The USA as we've known it is about to be shredded by the evil people who stole the election for President and probably for any number of Senate and Congressional Seats.

I CANNOT understand why NO ONE wants to examine the EVIDENCE. Either the steal is verifiable or it's not, but to have NO ONE in a position of power deny the law suits a hearing for stupid reasons, like 'no standing'...is totally mind boggling to me. In my thinking, that makes them all co-conspirators in this evil. UN Agenda 21 is about to take our country and our Patriots and bury them as quickly as possible. Our children and grandchildren and their children will pay the price and not even understand what's been lost. 1/2 of this country has drunk the 'cool-aid'...!! Welcome to the End of Days.
