BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

Biden's Gun-Control Agenda Takes Center Stage

By Mike Huckabee

Having spent their first month in office dismantling America's fuel industry and energy independence and eviscerating the First Amendment, the Biden Administration is now turning to the Second Amendment. But did you expect anything less from a man who said he would put Beto "Hell, yes, we're going to take your AR-15" O'Rourke in charge of gun control? No wonder gun sales have gone through the roof since November (and they were already high, due to the riots and looting, another thing gun sellers can thank Democrats for.)

You can read about what Biden is planning to do here, but it's questionable whether it would make it past the Senate filibuster or the Supreme Court. The SCOTUS would also likely end up weighing in on any attempts to get around Congress and undermine the Second Amendment by executive order.

I've been writing about this issue for years now, so I know that anytime you question new gun laws, you're accused of wanting more people to DIE! So here are just a few of the problems with these laws, stripped of the overheated emotional rhetoric:

1. They violate the Second Amendment, and many, many Americans cherish that Amendment.

2. While gun control advocates constantly talk about banning "assault weapons" and "weapons of war," those are vague terms conjured up by people who know nothing about guns. An AR-15 isn't a "weapon of war," it's a hunting rifle with some features that make the unitiatied think it looks like it might be used by soldiers. An "assault weapon" is no more lethal than any other gun (in the wrong hands, isn't any gun an "assault weapon?"), it just has to have any of a list of traits that gun control activists find scary, even though some are purely cosmetic, or safety features (a barrel shield keeps you from burning your fingers on a hot barrel) or convenient (an adjustable stock allows people of different sizes, like a husband and wife, to share the same rifle at a target range without having to buy two of them.)

3. This is the most important, yet least mentioned fact of all: the left is constantly demanding more gun laws despite abundant evidence that the ones we already have either aren't working or aren't being enforced. They demand that authorities devote an incredible amount of time, hours and taxpayer money to tracking, checking and policing law-abiding gun owners who aren't the problem. But how many times have we seen a mass shooting and later learned that under current laws, the culprit already should never have been allowed to buy a weapon - but a form was misplaced, or a judge let them go, or the police never got around to investigating a complaint, etc. etc. etc.

In virtually every case, mass shootings stop when someone else with a gun, whether it's a cop or an armed citizen, arrives on the scene and starts shooting back.

Yet when it comes to gun laws, liberals have the same attitude that they have toward socialism: it's never, ever worked anywhere, ever...but maybe if we just try a little more of it, it will start working.

Connections

By Mike Huckabee

Vice President Kamala Harris' niece Meena Harris has been warned by White House lawyers to stop using her aunt's name to build her social media influencer brand.

She either has to stop using her family's powerful political connections to advance her career, or else ask President Biden to adopt her.

The Gov. answers letters on third party, Georgia vote count, and more

By Mike Huckabee

What do HUCKABEE researchers do when the internet is inaccessible due to extreme weather in Texas and extended power outages that make it impossible to search the news? Why, go through the mailbag, of course. Since the impeachment “trial,” we’ve received hundreds of comments well worth highlighting. Here are a few that just came in that we wouldn’t want you to miss…

From Ken:

My first reaction to the betrayal of Republicans in Congress was to join another 3rd Party.

But, as you said, it splits the only power we have.

Teddy Roosevelt thought he could do that and ended up splitting the GOP, and Woodrow Wilson won instead.

Ron Paul is another example. He is actually a Libertarian but ran as a Republican to get the votes.

The GOP is surely a disappointment, but we have no other option [than] to fight the Socialist/Communist Democrats.

From the Gov:

Thanks, Ken. Of course, that also means fixing the party from within. I think that after seeing the shameful defection by some “establishment” Republican leaders and being thoroughly disgusted by their actions, we’re on our way to doing that.

From Edward:

I don’t think think a third party will solve the problem, either, but I don't agree with your claim that less people showed up to vote in the runoff than in the general election. When you have the same crooked people counting the votes that rigged the first one I don't know how you expect the second one to turn out any different. That is the frustrating part.

From the Gov:

You are right about the corruption within the system. At the same time, we are going to have to turn out in force to make up for whatever amount of fraud there might be. Until we gain the political power to inject some badly needed election safeguards –- and doing this is not “voter suppression” –- we have to win in landslides to overcome this hurdle. That didn’t happen in Georgia.

Though we have ample reason to distrust the vote count, one reason we KNOW fewer Republicans turned out on Election Day is that some of them had announced their intention ahead of time to stay home. We got letters from Republicans in Georgia and all around the country saying they refused to participate in future elections. Some said they were so fed-up with the system that they would never vote again. Talk about frustrating –- these comments were extremely frustrating to read, because that attitude is just the opposite of the one they need to have!

From Susan:

I love reading your newsletters each day. Great format, and I appreciate the Bible verse 1st, and leaving us with America the Beautiful. Question about 3rd party: has anyone thought about the Democrats leaving their party and joining the new Republican party? They will be bringing their same liberal ideals with them and will not represent conservative Americans. Didn't this same thing happen a number of years ago, resulting in "neo cons"?

From the Gov:

Since the increasingly radical Democrat Party has left behind millions of moderates who traditionally voted Democrat, they need someplace to go, and the Republican Party as led by Donald Trump (as opposed to, say, Mitch McConnell) makes sense. Even old-style “liberals” in the classical sense are dismayed by the Democrats’ recent obsession with “cancel culture” and the policing of speech.

I think that, given the state of the country under Democrat “leadership,” we can encourage them to see how conservative principles and a return to the Constitution can bring us much closer to delivering true justice for all, as opposed to the unworkable and decidedly unfair concept of “social justice.” I’m also optimistic that even on a polarizing issue such as abortion, the Democrats’ callous radicalism might propel more moderates into the pro-life camp. We’re in a position to change hearts. Let’s hope that’s how it works out.

From Steven:

According to last night's evening news, the Washington DC mayor is trying to bring criminal charges against former President Trump for inciting the January 6th riot. But if the Senate "trial" has already acquitted him of that charge, wouldn’t a criminal trial on that charge subject him to double jeopardy in violation of constitutional protections against that?

From the Gov:

Well, they tried to argue that the First Amendment didn’t apply to Trump, so you know they’d say he didn’t have double jeopardy protection, either!

Seriously, that’s a question that would end up in the Supreme Court. It might not be double jeopardy, as Trump certainly has not been tried in a real court of law –- far from it. And people who are found not guilty in state court are sometimes then re-indicted at the federal level, though many believe THAT is an abuse of double jeopardy protection. Trump-hate continues unabated, and his legal harassment will continue. But I think one reason the DC mayor is talking big right now is to take attention off her own role in the Capitol Hill riot.

As I said in Monday’s newsletter, one reason the Democrats decided to wrap up the impeachment “trial” instead of calling witnesses is that Trump’s defense would have called Speaker Pelosi and Mayor Muriel Bowser, among others, to find out why more police protection, including the National Guard, was not utilized around the Capitol Building on January 6, after President Trump had already given the go-ahead to use them, a couple of days before.

The mayor has a lot to answer for.

From Gloria (excerpt):

Governor,

I couldn’t agree with you more about the third party narrative. The RINOs should be the ones to leave and move left where they can more honestly support their beliefs instead of pretending to be conservatives.

I listened to Mark Levin’s show last night where he interviewed Charlie Kirk and Dave Rubin. It gave me hope that a more cohesive GOP might be on the horizon. It also gave me hope that people might actually be starting to see the evil platform being promoted by the DNC...

From the Gov:

Some are starting to see it clearly. It’s easier for leftists to fly under the radar when they’re not actively imposing their beliefs on the rest of the country. But that’s what they’re doing now. The media can try to minimize our perception of the damage, but, in the words of the first Republican President, you just can’t fool all of the people all of the time.

Of course, there’s the #WalkAway Movement, started by Brandon Straka to encourage disillusioned Democrats to walk away from the Democrat Party. Straka has faced obstacles, notably censorship by social media and even attempted assault; we talked about this when he was a guest on my show. Anyone with two eyes and half a brain can see the folks with real bravery are the ones who aren’t afraid to stand up to “cancel culture” and speak their minds. We can thank courageous people such as Straka, Charlie Kirk and Dave Rubin who are already playing an important role.

Defund The Police Experiment Crashes In Minnesota

By Mike Huckabee

It looks as if the great “defund the police” experiment has come to a crashing halt in the city where it was first implement: Minneapolis.

After the George Floyd riots, the all-leftist city council voted to slash the police budget by $8 million. Two months later, they just voted unanimously to grant the police department’s request for $6.4 million in emergency funds to hire new officers to deal with the spiraling crime wave.

At least this shows that even leftist politicians are capable of eventually learning from experience. It’s just unfortunate that the public has to suffer for their slow learning curve. Most of us learned, “When the cat’s away, the mice will play” in kindergarten.

Parler Strikes Back

By Mike Huckabee

In a major blow against Big Tech and “cancel culture,” Parler interim CEO Mark Meckler announced that the free speech social media app has a new server farm after being suddenly cut off by Amazon Web Service. It might take a few days to be fully accessible by both desktop and phone.

Meckler said Parler is using artificial intelligence and human editors to detect any speech that violates their terms of service, such as advocating violence, which was always forbidden on Parler, even though it seems to be fine with the Big Tech social media platforms, as long as it’s leftists calling for violence against Trump voters. Parler was kneecapped by Apple, Google and Amazon after it was accused of hosting people who plotted the Capitol attack, even though it’s been reported that there was more activity along those lines on Facebook, which never got a death sentence from Silicon Valley.

Parler investor Dan Bongino said, “Cancel culture came for us, and hit us with all they had. Yet we couldn’t be kept down. We’re back, and we’re ready to resume the struggle for freedom of expression, data sovereignty, and civil discourse. We thank our users for their loyalty during this incredibly challenging time.”

This is great news because a pushback against leftist cancel culture is long overdue. The Big Tech giants think they are so powerful, they control all information and nobody can get along without them, so they’ll kill off conservatives by denying us access to their services. But all that will do is drive 75 million customers into the arms of whoever is smart enough to compete for their business. No wonder leftists hate capitalism so much. It gives people choices other than “take what you’re given or nothing,” which is always the end result of socialism.

The return of Parler; the rise of new services such as Gab, MeWe, Rumble and Telegraph; and Gina Carano landing a producer/actor movie deal with the Daily Caller after being fired from “Star Wars: The Mandalorian” by Disney Plus for insensitive tweets, is a welcome trend of conservatives breaking free of limousine liberal Big Tech, who may soon find themselves wondering how they drove away 75 million users and imploded their businesses so quickly.

To paraphrase “Star Wars,” if you strike us down, we shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

Newsletter Update

By Mike Huckabee and Pat Reeder

If the newsletter is a little sparse or late this week, we hope you'll understand. It's because we're all affected by the historic winter storm that's battering the nation with snow and ice and sending temperatures plunging nearly to zero even in Texas. So far, at least nine deaths are being blamed on the wild weather, including three (that we know of) from a devastating tornado that struck Brunswick County, North Carolina. I hope you will join me in praying for the victims and for everyone caught in the path of this storm, especially the elderly and other vulnerable people who were left in the cold and dark by massive power outages.

At the moment, I am iced in in Little Rock, having to look into the sad, bewildered, accusing eyes of my two dogs who were used to living in Florida. So far, we've had no power outages, but the guilt is chilling.

However, my two writer/researchers, Pat Reeder and Laura Ainsworth, are in suburban Dallas and are part of the four million Texans left without power. For a firsthand account, I'll turn you over to Pat...

Yes, Laura and I have been experiencing the "rolling blackouts." I don't know why they're called "rolling," since they hit you and stay long past any reasonable limits. At first, they lasted just 15 minutes, then an hour, but then they got ridiculously long. Yesterday, our power (and hence, heat) was out from around 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., a ten-hour stretch with no heat on the coldest night in 40 years, with temperatures in the single digits outside.

Laura and I take in homeless and abused parrots, a few of whom had plucked all their features out from trauma before arriving here, and keeping them alive in a frigid house is our #1 concern. We are doing anything we can to get heat into the air, from...(at this point, the power went off again. I'll finish this via cell phone)...burning candles to running hot water in the bathtub, but it barely makes a difference.

And WHY are Texans suffering power outages? Because some idiots decided that 25% of our energy should come from windmills, or as we call them, "bird Cuisinarts," and the turbines froze. Freezing in the dark is something that anti-oil Northeastern liberals should be doing, not Texans. How did we let idiots who think AOC is a scientist influence Texas' energy policies?

If the greens want reliable clean energy, then stop blocking nuclear plants. Until then, some of our poor shivering parrots have some words for them that that learned before we adopted them.

And now, here's more on this story.

Here are some good tips to follow if you find yourself in the middle of a power outage. I would add, "Pick up a pen and write a letter in longhand by candlelight to your power company, complaining about how dumb it is to replace needed, reliable sources of energy with unproven, unready 'green' alternatives."

As you say, people are having "Buyers Remorse" from electing Biden, especially at the gas pumps, as prices are expectedly on the rise. I remember Obama gas prices as $4+ per gallon. Perhaps President Trump should have emphasized that more during his campaign.

The lefties obsession with taking away our guns shows how little the 2nd amendment and the constitution mean to them. The right to defend one's self and family is a God given right which was codified in the Constitution. You have to give them an 'A' for persistence. Once again, logic is not in possession of these blockheads. This has been expained over and over again for approx. 200 years and still has not registered with them. On the other hand, maybe it has and their real agenda is not safety for the public, but has to do with their Communist tendencies to control thru disarming us. It has worked in places you wouldn't have guessed like Australia and UK.

The biggest issue in the Biden Administration's plans is the assigning of liability for gun use to gun manufacturers. That is clearly designed to run them out of business.
It is incongruous that this administration seems to be pro-criminal, insulting to law enforcement, and wants to confiscate weapons. I do not feel safer.

This is a follow-up to yesterday message. Came across one of your YouTube video, “How could a third party be a good idea?”, and based on what I saw, I agree with you. If the real GOP members want to keep the GOP as it was founded on conservative principles, it first must get rid of the RINOs in its ranks, and then cultivate, develop, and support NEW people to replace those that want to split the party (the anti-Trump or anti-America that want to keep the establishment and the swamp alive)! Then, and only them a new and reinforced GOP party could represent the million that love this country and supported President Trump. He set the standard, forged the path, and stimulated a deep love of country and of God. We must continue on this road! Keeping the same old establishment that only talk but then betray the people they’re supposed to represent can no longer be tolerated. We cannot continue to voted Republican just to prevent Dems victories (RINOS are traitors and de facto supporters of Dems). I believe many undecided. Libertarians and Independents could embrace a GOP that stands (with deeds) for the People, fight for them, maintain their promises and above all, stand for America and our sacred freedoms and way of life. Need new blood and to retire professional (long-term) swamp creatures like McConnell and the 7 who voted against their leader.

I believe it was Stalin who commented it didn't matter WHO votes, all that matters is WHO COUNTS the votes. I am confident that some enterprising Journalist will dig up the truth. Doing a forensic on the Dominion or any machine is now futile. I'm a complete novice but youTube can show you how. I have viewed Lindell's tape showing the data transfer and I am highly suspect of the disparity between votes for the POTUS and Down Ballots! If more people voted than ever before how do you account for all the people who Didn't vote?
Concerning getting the message out. In my small circle I have asked the question-What books are you currently reading? where do you get your news of current affairs? The Books was unanimous as the Bible, and a couple of novels. The news was from Legacy or CNN, MSNBC and Fox. With Big Techs Monopoly on the media, academia, and most print it's going to be a hill too high to reach the people who need to be reached because they don't live and breathe politics. In other words, as long as the Golf course is open and the malls are selling and buying online has basically shut down the mom & pop operations. When Americans have to SUFFER they wake up. Biden may well accomplish the Suffering part. He started with Keystone. I challenge anyone to look around your office or home and pick out all the Items that are NOT Petroleum dependent or based. Even wood unless a manual saw was used to cut and mill the wood. I worked in the Offshore industry for many years and I am Prepared for the $4-5.00/gallon for gas-Or You? The entire "Renewal Energy" or ridding the nation of Petroleum is a perfect example of the Government running the narrative! Name ONE program run by uncle Sam that is Cost Effective...

Regarding third party issues again, we understand your point, but I am still waiting to see any followup argument from you regarding the Republican Party working to fix the election fraud fiasco. As long as the 'legacy' republicans think there is a risk of a third party, they know they have to consider us, or else they will lose the power they so greatly cherish. I can also hear that same 'fear' in your responses - that a third party concept will gain traction and destroy any chance of victory. We have a deep seated mistrust of all politicians, and this could extend to you as well, even though we like you. If the voting irregularities are not addressed, we don't care if the republicans lose power because of a third party - they were always going to lose it anyway to 'cheat votes', etc. However, if they are forced, through their own fear of losing their cherished power, to consider our side, then they must consider those of us that feel that voting is a lost cause at this moment in time.

On the article about guns, you spoke of AR and the left calling them Assault Rifles. They have no clue that the AR stands for Armalite which is a manufacturer for that style of gun. It drives me crazy to hear them call it an assault rifle.

One would hope that these record breaking temperatures would finally quiet down the global warming/ climate change advocates. The United States has always led the way in making smart changes to protect our environment. Climate will always change on its own. Does anyone remember Ross Perot and what he did to the Republican party by going rogue and splintering the Republican presidential ticket at the last minute a few years back, giving the election to the Democrats? THIRD PARTY = BS! Talk about a third party is insane. and exactly what the Democrats want to weaken any conservative platform.
And while we are going off half cocked, why not heap some more load onto an unproven and untested power grid with a few hundred thousand more electric vehicles and get rid of natural gas appliances and vehicles as they are doing in California through the nitwit governor who announced shortly ago that by 2035 there would not be any more new gas powered vehicles allowed in this once glorious state! What idiots we have in the blue states trying to run things!

    RE: Climate Change ---
SO! The HOAX started out with "Global Warming. That wasn`t panning out, so it was "downgraded" to Climate change - which has been going on since Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden. IF humans could really "change" weather, why wasn`t this "Polar Express" stopped or re-routed? Maybe God is in control and He is showing the world just how much a SCAM it is. Could the purpose of the climate change lies really be to waste our money, the worlds resources and put us under the "one world government" liberals, socialists, certain members of both party`s and billionaires want?
In the long run, Solar Panels and Wind turbines end up costing more and harming the environment more than fossil fuels.
At one time the climate was pretty stable until a bad decision by humans led to that "Apple Thing" and now some ignorant humans are still making bad decisions.

    Dear Gov.
Your researchers in Texas can use a little emergency knowledge. Tell them that they can take a tuna can, cut a strip of cardboard to match the depth of the can. Roll it up and stuff it into the can and then fill the can with rubbing alcohol. Light it with a match and it will produce a good bit of heat without any fumes. A larger version is to take a can about the diameter of a roll of toilet paper and stuff a roll into the can. Fill with rubbing alcohol and light it up. It will heat a room enough so that you won't freeze to death Leave an opening to the room for air. Personally I have a generator with several tanks of propane that I can run my freezers, refrigerators and the furnace with. If needed I can do this for a week. When Baden Powell came up with the motto, "Be Prepared" he knew what he was talking about.

About "new" gun laws, I was a real estate agent in New York in the 1970's when New York had the Sullivan Law that was the toughest gun law in the country. It was almost impossible to get a gun permit, Some of the empty houses I had to go in were occupied by people doing drugs and it scared me. I mentioned to another agent how I wish I had a gun when I felt threatened going into those houses. He said if I wanted a gun he could get one for me so I said yes. Wiithin 2 days for $75, tough laws and all, I had my gun.
