I’m disgusted with a small and selfish group of Republicans who probably feel they are “Spartacus” but the movie best fitting them is “The Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight.”

Several of these hold-outs (I should say “hold-ups”) are friends and I supported and campaigned for many.  I won’t be in the future.  The simple of rule of politics is that you take your stand, but if you don’t have enough following to lead, then recognize that you simply didn’t sell your ideas very well.  Less than 20 GOP members of Congress are stopping 200 of their fellow Republicans from getting about the business of investigating corruption in the White House, FBI, DOJ, and in Congress itself.  Instead, without being able to articulate a specific reason for their objections, they have blocked the election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker and in so doing making the Republicans look like a bunch of 6 year olds who refuse to play unless the majority surrenders to the tantrums of the few.

Is Kevin McCarthy perfect?  Of course not.  But he has faithfully worked to recruit candidates, help fund them, and get them elected.  The ultimate outrage is that some he helped win and raised funds for now have shown they really DO think it’s about them and not the bigger principles of the conservative movement.

Dr. E. V. Hill, longtime CA pastor used to say “If you think you’re a leader and you look behind you and no one is following, you aren’t a leader—you’re just out for a walk.”  The actions of the petulant circle of “Never-Kevins” don’t amount to enough votes to get close to winning.  But they may have enough to make sure their own team loses.  These guys are setting fire to their own hosue, but they are arsonists who didn’t even have fire insurance.  The mission is just “burn it down.”  And in so doing, empowering the very Democrats some of us worked very hard to put in the minority.

We did NOT work to blow up our own opportunity to take on the Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, and Squad team, but that’s the effect of the actions of the camera hungry Congress members who may deep down believe they are more “principled” than everyone else, but have shown a startling level of political immaturity.

If the tiny crowd of political tots can’t convince a majority of their peers to follow them off the cliff, they should have the self-awareness to admit they fired their best shot and simply missed the target.  Now it’s time to fight for the American people.  If after taking leadership, Kevin and company don’t deliver, you might be able to make a better case for lighting the fuse to the bomb to blow up the place.

We want a real fighter, with a lot of backbone. It sounds like he will play ball and not get the job done.

I read your emails/newsletter daily and I appreciate where you stand on many issues. I also know that you support Kevin McCarthy for speaker. Now that is seems that he is rumored to be talking to, possibly making deals with the democrats on votes, has your opinion changed about him? If not, what would it take for you to throw your support behind someone like Byron Donalds?

I agree with you on Kevin McCarthy as Speaker. Unfortunately, he is not the best we've got. Not sure if his integrity is still intact after so many years in the Swamp. Every organization faces the time when new blood must infuse the old as a way of renewal and strength. Yes, McCarthy knows how to get things done in DC. And that, of course, is the problem.

I have always supported you Mike—am also a strong Christian myself. But, I am very disappointed in your comments and support of Kevin Mc Carthy!! He is clearly part of the terrible establishment that has taken root in D. C. and I am proud of the small group that has stood up to oppose him—if not them, then who? If people don’t start taking a stand against all of the stays quo garbage now, then when? People need to use their God-given critical-thinking minds and stand up for what is right or we will lose this country that I dearly love! My son served this country as did my brother (Purple Heart) and my Dad. It is time to shut down the rhino republicans and disgusting democrats who are only there because people cheated and wrongly put them on office -they do not represent my voice! You, sir, are wrong, and I now doubt your credibility and reason for being in your position. Do not be a wolf in sheep’s clothing for those who do not do their own research! You have disappointed me. Examine your heart as you can be assured my dear God will.

Dear Governor Huckabee, I totally agree with your assessment of the “Never Kevins”. I am disgusted by the selfishness they have exhibited. I want them to get it together and start taking it to the lib dem policies that have been taking our country down the drain and get to investigating and publicizing the literal crimes the administration has been committing. If McCarthy does not live up to expectations, then make the case with facts at that time. Republicans can not get out of their own way. You made a strong succinct argument.

I agree with your comments 100%. As disgusting and wrong as the Dems are on almost every level, they stick together for their cause. The infighting among elected Republicans must stop, there is too much at stake.

Mike, I am going to have to strongly disagree with you. McCarthy is one of the biggest swamp creatures in government today. If he takes the post
Its like having Ryan again. Everyone has dirt on him so the Democrats will get all the pork they want. Do the optics look bad? Maybe but I think the Republicans that are standing up are doing exactly what our founding fathers created the system for. Back door dealing to get a speaker of the house is exactly the thing we want to stop. So I hope that McCarthy see’s this and finally realizes that he should back off and find a new swamp. If I am wrong then I will stand and admit that but sadly I don’t think I am.

Mike, I agree with everything you said here, but you need to call out name's of those 20 people and how many of them have appeared on your TV show. I'm a registered Republican, but it is always the same with the one's we send to Washington, say one thing to get elected, do the opposite when elected. No spine, huge egos! You have to hand it to the Democrats, they do stick together and have a hearty laugh at silly Republicans.

    Mike,
Is there one central address in Washington where those of us who have enough common sense to realize that these "never Kevin" holdouts are killing what little clout this GOP majority has left? Let us the people start putting the pressure on. Dave Wilke
