After I said that if we formed a third party we’d never, ever win another presidential election, EVER, I received quite a few letters from readers who think differently. Here’s a typical one...

From Stephen R:

You say that you’re against a third party and that we’d never again win an election if that happens. I totally disagree! If we abandon the Republican Party in major numbers with the right candidate, I think we’d stand a better chance rather than having the same old s*** on the menu!

What chance will the Republicans have when most of us are totally fed up with the crap that we’ve listened to for years and nothing changing (excluding President Trump)! The rest of them are just filling a seat and going along with the Democrat BS! They talk a good line when in front of the cameras, but go along with the Dems behind closed doors and to hell with their constituents! What good will the Republican Party be when 2/3 of us will not vote for another Republican candidate? I’ll vote Democrat just to remove these spineless cowards that are in office trying to say that they have our backs!!! I’m done!!!!

From the Gov:

Thanks for writing, Stephen. Obviously, our party has reached a crossroads, and it’s critically important how we decide to go forward from this point. But if I may offer some “famous last words,” I can think of none more appropriate than what you just said: “I’ll vote Democrat just to remove these spineless cowards...”

Vote Democrat? With all due respect, Stephen, I have six words for you:

Are you out of your mind?

The reason we have such a disaster in the U.S. Senate now is that Georgia Republicans, fed up by the Nov. 3 outcome, refused to vote Republican, staying home on the day of the senatorial run-off elections and giving their state two of the most radical left-wing senators ever to be on the ballot, and that’s saying something. We know now that if they had come out for the Republican candidates in numbers comparable to their November 3 turnout, they would have kept the Senate out of the hands of radical leftists. Gosh, I hope all those fed-up conservative Georgia voters are happy now.

Let’s do some basic math. Right now, the two major parties, in terms of numbers, are pretty evenly split. If the 2/3 of Republicans who, as you say, are thoroughly fed up and refuse to vote for another Republican DO vote for a third party candidate instead, that will give the third party candidate a whopping 2/3 of what the anti-Democrat vote would have been otherwise. The Republican gets the other 1/3. These two parties will split about half the total vote.

But the Democrats get almost all of the other half, which means they WIN, as all they need is a plurality. Obviously, 1/3 of the Republican vote isn’t going to get us squat. But even 2/3 of that vote isn’t going to get us squat, either. One thing about Democrats: they do stick together. And if they stick together and we fragment, with no more than 2/3 of our vote going to any one candidate, guess which party wins?

That’s right, the Democrats, every time. Go to the head of the class.

When Democrat Party candidate Bill Clinton won in 1992, he got a whopping 43 percent of the popular vote. The other two major candidates, Republican incumbent George H. W. Bush and Independent Party candidate and Texas billionaire H. Ross Perot, essentially split the rest; that “giant sucking sound” you heard was Perot sucking up 19 percent of the vote (the most a third party candidate has ever received, but it translated into ZERO electoral votes). So victory went to Clinton, the Democrat. Some analysts said that Clinton would’ve beaten Bush anyway, but we don’t know about that. A huge number of conservative Republicans rejected a second Bush term and voted for Perot, giving us the Democrats.

Let’s go farther back in history, to when former President Teddy Roosevelt tried a comeback with a third party, the Bull Moose Party. In 1912, a group of Republicans dissatisfied with President William Howard Taft formed the Bull Moose Party specifically for TR to run again. (He supposedly had said he was “fit as a bull moose” to run again.) The Bull Moose Party was “progressive” for the time and favored such new-fangled ideas as women’s suffrage, direct election of U.S. senators, and various social reforms. Roosevelt ran on what he called the “Square Deal,” based on fair business competition and more welfare programs for the needy.

Anyway, his candidacy divided the Republican Party, and Democrat Woodrow Wilson easily won. Would you like to hear about Woodrow Wilson and his administration? That’s a topic for another day, but for now let’s just say it would have been much better if TR hadn’t divided the Republican Party and let Wilson and his pals glide into the Oval Office.

Things the left would love to see from us:

1) An uprising. In fact, the Capitol breach played into their hands so well that if it hadn’t happened, they would have had to create it; make of that statement what you will. The Capitol incident gave the left all the excuse they needed to label every one of us a “domestic terrorist” and start taking our rights away. As frustrated as you might be, DO NOT give them any more reason to do that. Believe me, they are just waiting for this.

2) A third party. The left would LOVE this. Aside from the reasons mentioned above, a third party is not going to have the “ground game” of the well-oiled machine that is the Democrat Party. All this will do is split the Republican Party vote and ensure Democrat victories time after time. I know many of you don’t want to hear this, but it’s the hard truth.

3) Giving up. Some conservatives are now saying the fight is over and we have lost. Why bother voting if the elections are rigged? Why bother tweeting if you’ll just be banned? Just stay home and wait for the end. But this would be a gift to the left. When you give up, they push even harder.

We have to fix our party, from the inside. We do have a few outstanding incumbents, but for the RINOS, we have to find solid, articulate conservative candidates for primary challenges. That’s what the “progressives” in the Democrat Party did, through organizations such as Justice Democrats, the group that recruited AOC. Democrats organize like mad, and if they aren’t satisfied with their incumbents, they challenge them. This is what we’re going to have to do with our own who fail to represent our views and values. Perhaps Trump could help with this. We must go into every race with the strongest ticket we can find, work like our freedom depends on it (because it does) and be assertive poll watchers!

But, again, the worst thing conservatives can do is split off and form a third party. Don’t even think about it!

I believe the two parties we have are in colusion. We are in a period of history framed by many changes, most of them negative and its time to head a different direction. I truly believe Mike Pence would be a great candidate, and a third party would be a great way to present him. Actually we already have a third party. They are called Americans. They, like myself, have no desire to support either of the existing parties. Tot

Too much bullshit. If we want our country back,we will have to fight to make that happen. We also need to reform our voting process. Donald a Trump won the election, but was cheated out of the victory. We need to see that never happens again!

I totally agree with you, Governor! I was one of the people that voted for Perot! Totally believed in him, for the same reason I voted for Trump: a business man instead of a politician. However, in voting for Perot, too late, I realized exactly what it did: split the Republican votes so that a democrat won! As you say, the democrats do not split, they stick together.

Thank you very much for your highly accurate assessment and lucid commentary. It is sadly disappointing to see in both the TR and Perot third party efforts the gross lack of rational thought so easily replaced by emotion. I sincerely hope and pray that the none of President Trump’s supporters allow their righteous emotion to override the reality of the very serious threat to the survival of our nation and its constitution that a 2022 democrat victory poses. We absolutely must retake both the Senate and House then and the White House in 2024 with appropriately conservative persons. Otherwise, our country is most unlikely to survive in a recognizable form.
Keep up the good work, Mike!!

Any disillusioned republicans need to sign the petition for the Convention of States. It is a national effort to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress. That is a better way to effect the kind of changes needed to drain the swamp.

Thank you for pointing out some ways and reasons to be hopeful. Seeing the EO’s, the therapy session and the impeachment it feels like our country has lost its way and that the majority of Republicans are going along with it! The only fighter seems to be Ted Cruz and look what they’re trying to do to him! It’s so frustrating! I truly feel like I have no party now! Thank you to you and Sarah for your commitment to our Country.

Mike, I don't understand how you and so many others call winners from actual losers. When you are fighting against Fake Voting and Not actual voting, the numbers can grow to be whatever the cheaters choose that number to be. Warnock for example had over a Million more votes in January versus November. How does that happen? It happens by votes that do Not represent legal voting Citizens...

  • Rodney Murphy

    02/05/2021 11:46 AM

    Governor Huckabee,
As long as we have Dominion Voting machines there are not going to be any more Republican presidents, and if old school Republicans choose Judas Pence at the 2024 Republican Convention there will not be a Republican President again. I’m staying home and abstaining next time from the voting because in my opinion with broken spine Republican politicians it all one party anyway. Trump was the guy who gave the spineless simpletons courage.
    Sincerely,
    Rodney Murphy

I tolaly disagree with you on this subject, why do you ignore the cheating? I don't care what we do WE WILL NOT WIN with the cheating going on! The mail-in ballots, the dominion machine, the days of counting and magically finding votes! You can not ignore these things and say we are going to win it's not going to happen.

We must reform the Republican party. We must find better and more trustworthy candidates to run next election. We must replace the ones that have been if office for years and are just drawing their paycheck with no concern for the people. When they start back stabbing their own president and members, we have no use for them in government. We need republicans that are there to help the country and the people.

  • Cordelia Richards

    02/05/2021 11:42 AM

I voted for the two Republican Senators but felt my vote would not make a difference when I saw the Dominion voting machine. I do not have confidence in our voting system. Something needs to be done about voter fraud.

I am amazed, so soon after the election, at how many Christians voted for President Biden.
What’s interesting is how many are so mortified at his stance on abortion and his decision to place a transgender in a very high profile position of authority and at the claims of the Secretary of State declaring he wants the lgbtq flag flown at embassies. My amazement comes I assume from their naïveté in thinking somehow the very things his party tried to push on us are being put into place. Wake up people! He’s doing exactly what you were told he would do! You cannot pick and chose. If you stand for Christ then vote, then you should have voted HIS values, whether you liked Trump or not!

  • Stephen Frier

    02/05/2021 11:39 AM

You are 100 % right Mike. Remember in high school voting for Homecoming King and Queen the white kids vote was split 5 ways and the black candidates won becouse one kid got all the black votes win .Works the same way .People like Stephen (my name too ) are idiots .Even without a third party Republicans may never win a presidential election ever .PRAY and Pray some more .that is the only way .

One word that should shock any conservative from abandoning our only vehicle for a whim — Hillary!

Splitting the Republican vote gave us a plague far worse than any other the world has seen in the form of a President’s wife! None, in my memory has wielded power and fear like she does-because she is a ruthless power mongerer. She has no ‘fear of God’ and has led her party down a very scary path — and the country with it.

She is responsible for the lethal degradation of any political integrity there might have been before her arrival.

Her first public corrupt act (we know of) was destroying court documents to shore up her brief (she was told NOT to write) denying Nixon counsel during his pre-impeachment proceedings. Did you get that? She wanted to trample the Constitution from the beginning of her career.

Thank God she was caught. However, she should have paid some severe consequences for meddling with evidence.

Because she got away with it, Hillary was emboldened to break any law that did not convenience her . . . So far with no repercussions.

She is the origin of ‘spin’ another word for lying, and the widened road of corruption in the Democrat party.

She has partnered with the father of lies and has sold herself and her country for power. So far, no one will even try to hold her accountable for the damage she has done to this country.

No, we do not need a third party to split the conservative block. We need Republicans to quit taking ‘the high road’ of useless lofty rhetoric . . . and act. We need God fearing people, who have a spine and are not cowardly to stand firm for the Godly principles this nation was built on, and to bring a ‘nuclear’ war of truth, righteousness and justice - God’s requirement for civil governance - against the corruption and mythical lies of political correctness that have taken over this once great nation under God!??????????????????????

I have several friends who wouldn't vote for Trump because, "they didnt like him" so they voted for Biden. It had nothing to do with Trump's policies or his accomplishments. Now they have Biden who they can righteously blame for their suffering. Good for them.

Everyone knew the Dems were going to fraud the 2020 election! Even Biden said he had the election fraud already in place. Nothing was done about it! Thats why Trump lost! That’s why Repubs didn’t show up to vote in GA Senate runoff election! The Repub party has been a do nothing Dem lapdog for decades! If the RINOs and “do nothings” are not removed, the Repub party is dead!

  • Daniel Falzone

    02/05/2021 11:31 AM

    Mike,
I agree with you 100% (as usual) however what is really needed to stop this tyranny is an Article 5 Convention establishing term limitations for ALL elected officials...at every level of government. The corruption in government is driven by greed an power and is the root of evil that is destroying our democracy.

  • John Dee

    02/05/2021 11:31 AM

I agree with you Mike we need to replace the RINOs and not form a third party that would ensure Democrats victory after victory. But rather donate to the RNC which had a cowardly silent vote on Liz Cheney I will donate only to the Trump PAC.

I fully understand what you are saying BUT YOU AND ALL OF THE REPUBLICAN ELECTED OFFICIALS better think long and hard we are tired of you going along with the Democrats just to save your own seats we have way to many so called elected Republicans crossing the line including vice PRESIDENT Pence other than PRESIDENT Trump you All are playing politics and we are tired of it sick of it and most of us DONE WITH IT
GROW A BACK BONE AND DEFEND OUR NATION! Why is there only one of you the lady from Georgia trying to impeach Biden why aren't you all backing her even if there is no way it will ever make it past the house or Senate we want you all to make as much commotion and noise as you possibly can just like the Democrats did the last 4 years

  • Mary Bethell

I heard dinesh D’Souza’s wife addressing this. She’s from Venezuela! She said people quit voting because they knew the elections were rigged! We can see the results in Venezuela! Watch the podcasts of DINESH D’ SOUSA! Both he & his wife are immigrants from countries with dictators. That’s what the democrats want to be! Dictators! They love power & control! NO THANKS!

  • Roger D Pierce

    02/05/2021 11:26 AM

Why has McConnell seemingly gone to the dark side? He is supporting more of the let's ideas than his own party. Two examples, the Trump impeachment and Lis Cheney. Alot of conservatives are very angry with him right now.

As usual with Die hard Politicians. Change is the one item never to be in acted. New Third Party. Oh No. We Politicians can't allow that. Why, even the Obama Administration destroyed the: Tea Party using that Non-Governmental Agency: I.R.S.!
Now I ask you think out of your little square box Governor and think Change. I know Change is the only thing that is consistent in life but Politicians fight it tooth and nail. Yes, Even Ex- Politicians. Change, Real Change scares the Hell out of them. Why: In Come Stream!
Now. To Change: If a New party was to begin and allowed by you politicians. It's like term limits. Yea, You publicly agree on Camera and run away so fast on that subject that a super-sonic jet couldn't catch you!
Third party would change either the Democrat/ Communist run or Republican / Communist Run parties, right up the flag pole! Neither party does anything for their constituents anyway!
So what if that one change does occur. Which , party would have to be replaced under , Oh dear the God , Help me! Should we politicians ever have to make a real decision for the good of the Country?
You even alluded to the " Attack" on the Capital was created by Mr. Trump. He didn't and you knew it but being a good politician and in good standing with your colleagues! You went along with the Loud Noise CNN, Made. Spot on!
Change for the Better. That will never happen if , yes, even you can't see the value of making that change!
Note: The Communist Movement is doing a better job at changing our Political System than we are ourselves are! That process, started way back in the 1940's. We expunged them out and they merged with both Parties under the guise as GOOD PARTY MEMBERS! Fact!
so having a third Party is still your outlook as a No No and your reasoning is. No Change! Communist don't think so, do they!
