I’m disgusted with a small and selfish group of Republicans who probably feel they are “Spartacus” but the movie best fitting them is “The Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight.”

Several of these hold-outs (I should say “hold-ups”) are friends and I supported and campaigned for many.  I won’t be in the future.  The simple of rule of politics is that you take your stand, but if you don’t have enough following to lead, then recognize that you simply didn’t sell your ideas very well.  Less than 20 GOP members of Congress are stopping 200 of their fellow Republicans from getting about the business of investigating corruption in the White House, FBI, DOJ, and in Congress itself.  Instead, without being able to articulate a specific reason for their objections, they have blocked the election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker and in so doing making the Republicans look like a bunch of 6 year olds who refuse to play unless the majority surrenders to the tantrums of the few.

Is Kevin McCarthy perfect?  Of course not.  But he has faithfully worked to recruit candidates, help fund them, and get them elected.  The ultimate outrage is that some he helped win and raised funds for now have shown they really DO think it’s about them and not the bigger principles of the conservative movement.

Dr. E. V. Hill, longtime CA pastor used to say “If you think you’re a leader and you look behind you and no one is following, you aren’t a leader—you’re just out for a walk.”  The actions of the petulant circle of “Never-Kevins” don’t amount to enough votes to get close to winning.  But they may have enough to make sure their own team loses.  These guys are setting fire to their own hosue, but they are arsonists who didn’t even have fire insurance.  The mission is just “burn it down.”  And in so doing, empowering the very Democrats some of us worked very hard to put in the minority.

We did NOT work to blow up our own opportunity to take on the Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, and Squad team, but that’s the effect of the actions of the camera hungry Congress members who may deep down believe they are more “principled” than everyone else, but have shown a startling level of political immaturity.

If the tiny crowd of political tots can’t convince a majority of their peers to follow them off the cliff, they should have the self-awareness to admit they fired their best shot and simply missed the target.  Now it’s time to fight for the American people.  If after taking leadership, Kevin and company don’t deliver, you might be able to make a better case for lighting the fuse to the bomb to blow up the place.

McConnell. Is wishy why and doesn't stand up and fight. His mentor must be McConnel. He will not truly fight for the republican values against the democrats. He is part of the swamp that we want drained. We started this country with few fighters but as time went on we grew and we won. We cannot really get things done with a swamp creature like him as speaker. Does he even live republican values?

I am very concerned that Kevin McCarthy will turn out to be another Mitch McConnell, repeatedly making terrible deals with the democrats, who cannot think for themselves and simply goose step in line to whatever their CCP overloads want. During the past year some Republican representatives have floated the idea of President Trump becoming speaker, but at this point with the extremely disappointing results of the midterms, nominating Trump for speaker would be disastrous. However, the premise of nominating someone who is not a member of this House could be leveraged to great advantage to the Republicans, if they could convince Governor DeSantis to accept it.

    You couldn't be more wrong.
The "petulant" 20 represent the majority of Rep. voters and the "fall in line" 202 represent a minority of Rep. voters.
I'm "disgusted" that anyone would write off the majority of Rep. voters!

Mr. Huckabee I couldn’t agree with you more! I just wish you were running for President! Trump was great but he is so hated by the liberals and press that he doesn’t stand a chance to unify this country. You could do that!

    Dear Mike,

Right at the start of his radio talk show, this evening, 1/4/2023, Mark Levin also gave some great insights into why Kevin McCarthy should be voted for Speaker of the House.

Well said, Mike! You do understand the political system and you have a deep love for our country. No, let's not lose it.
Sure, we are the ME country, but ME's do not make good leaders.

Your comments are typical to me because those who are fighting the Swamp Rats in the Republican Party are being Scorched by you to just concede. Business as usual right. Well WE THE PEOPLE are Tired of it. You Should be Talking about those 19 Republican Swamp Rats that Voted for the 1.7 Trillion and those Traitors who voted for the Respect The Marriage Act. They are all Sell Outs. This always happens Those who make a stand are Crucified by those( such as yourself) To join the Ranks of Business as Usual. NO THANKS!!
By the way Chip Roy said it all and Hit The Nail on the Head.

Your analysis of those Republicans voting to oppose McCarthy as Speaker of the House struck a resounding chord with me. What had been my resolute opinion that he was not suitable to be the Speaker remains firm. More important, however, is the need for Republicans in the House to begin helping lead this Nation. I see now that with no other suitable Republican willing or able to assume the role of Speaker, then for the sake of the greater good McCarthy is the suitable candidate to unleash a truly representative Congress. The corruption and deceptions of the Progressives and Democrats must be addressed — that is the vital mission. Your analysis that McCarthy may be the present answer to how the greater good can be realized is spot-on.
