1. DAILY BIBLE VERSE

Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked;

protect me from the violent,

who devise ways to trip my feet.

Psalm 140:4 NIV

MORNING NEWS:

2. As more are charged, what is "seditious conspiracy"?:

This is a premium story, part of our new, "Free Speech Edition" on Substack.com.  To subscribe go here.

We’re learning more about some of the individuals who make up the small group now charged with seditious conspiracy in the events of January 6. As rare and serious as this charge historically has been, it seems the bar is set pretty low among today’s leftists who jump at the chance to charge conservatives. Veteran defense attorney Joel Hirschhorn said sedition “is the crime of creating a serious disturbance, violence against lawful civil authority with intent to overthrow the government.” OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT. Let’s examine how this charge applies to what happened that day.

3. Biden urges employers to ignore the Court:

True to form, President Biden reacted to the Supreme Court’s annihilation of his OSHA vaccine mandate by urging employers to ignore the Court’s ruling and enforce it anyway. And how is that going? Not so well. Even some health organizations that are subject to the mandate that the SCOTUS inexplicably upheld are so short-staffed, they’re ignoring it.

https://redstate.com/jenniferoo/2022/01/14/after-scotus-hit-companies-are-ditching-their-vaccine-mandates-like-a-bad-habit-n506906

It seems that unlike the Biden Administration, America’s businesses actually need competent employees showing up to work every day.

4. Social Justice task force delivers final report:

The University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine appointed a social justice task force to overhaul its curriculum, and it’s issued its final report. Among the suggestions it makes are picking the school’s leaders based on their leftwing views on social justice, and such “woke” precepts as teaching medical students that specific organs do not belong to specific genders.

https://redstate.com/alexparker/2022/01/14/medical-school-eyes-hiring-leaders-based-on-social-justice-views-teaching-organs-arent-gender-specific-n506379

I’m not a doctor (I don’t even play on one TV), but I’m pretty certain that some organs are indeed gender-specific.

If UNC’s medical school actually adopts any of this politics-over-science insanity, I’ll be sure to let you know so that in coming years, you can check your doctor’s diploma to see where he or she or xi studied, so you’ll know whether to get out of there fast. Remember, if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it’s a duck. And if you think biology isn’t connected to gender, you’re a quack.

6. Gervais knows:

Controversial comedian (and by that, I mean, “says true things powerful people don’t like,” which used to just mean, “comedian”) Ricky Gervais believes that the ratings implosion of TV awards shows isn’t due to pandemic downsizing, since even the ones that still have big stars and production numbers are cratering. Gervais blamed the audience tune-out on all the PC wokeism and leftist politics.

https://dailycaller.com/2022/01/12/ricky-gervais-awards-shows-suffering-people-sick-virtue-signalling

Gervais pulled big ratings when he hosted the Golden Globes, but while his gleeful mockery of Hollywood hypocrites was loved by viewers, it ticked off the celebrities, so he was replaced. Since then, the Globes have gone from one of the most star-studded nights in Hollywood to a Twitter thread announcing the winners that hardly anyone noticed. This was largely because of attacks on the awards organization, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, for not being diverse enough. But that was hardly the reason that TV audiences gave up on it.

Writing in the British newspaper The Sun, Gervais said people “just got sick of virtue signaling…The people with nothing became tired of being lectured by people who had everything…They think, ‘Why are these people lecturing me? They’re going?? to an awards ceremony in a limo and are telling me to recycle?'”

Assessing the damage woke virtue signaling has done to Hollywood’s image, Gervais wrote, “The first time I did it, ten years ago, everyone was like, ‘Ah, how can you talk to these wonderful multi-millionaires, how can you talk to these beautiful people, like that? We love celebrities.' By the last one it was like, ‘God, give it to them, we hate celebrities!'”

Gervais said you can’t predict the future, and maybe awards shows will enjoy a return to popularity. But I doubt it. If Hollywood can’t even figure out that they shouldn’t spend hundreds of millions of dollars making movies that insult America and expect Americans to pay to see them (they don’t, by the way), or hire stars who spew hatred of half of Americans on Twitter and fire those who defend them, what are the odds that anyone will ever want to watch them give themselves awards for doing that?

7.  "Huckabee" Preview:

Join me tonight for a can’t-miss new episode of “Huckabee” on TBN! I’ll be talking with actor/director Nick Searcy about his eye-opening new documentary on the January 6th Capitol riot (it’s not the story we’ve been told.) Comedian Karen Knotts will share personal memories of her TV icon dad, the great Don Knotts of “The Andy Griffith Show.” We’ll have plenty of laughs with “In Case You Missed It” and amazing comic ventriloquist David Pendleton. Then get ready for some terrific music from Canadian country stars High Valley.

It all gets rolling tonight at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, and Sunday at 9 EST/8 CST, on TBN. To find out how to watch TBN, from local cable and broadcast channels to streaming, visit https://www.huckabee.tv and click on “Channel Finder” on the top menu. 8. "Work-arounds":

What is it with Democrats who can’t get their agendas passed turning to legislative “work-arounds” like executive orders to ram them through (all while claiming they’re “protecting democracy,” of course)?

President Biden appears to be determined to do just that, yet again. He couldn’t get his “police reform” package through the Senate, so word is that he’s planning to try to implement it in the form of a series of sweeping executive orders.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-planning-executive-orders-on-police-reform-report

You might well ask what gives the President the Constitutional authority to dictate policing rules to local governments? He’d better have a good answer ready, because he’ll probably have to be giving it to a lot of judges once the lawsuits challenging this start popping up like dandelions in the spring.

Modest proposal: I suggest installing a dedicated phone line, like the Batphone, between the White House and the Supreme Court, so that every time Joe gets another idea about just ordering everyone to do what he wants, the SCOTUS can immediately tell him, "No!" and save us all a lot of time and trouble.

9. Sneaky:

And as expected, here comes the Democrats' sneaky, underhanded attempt to do a "work-around" of the Constitution to pass the "Legalize Vote Fraud Act" by simply removing the language from an unrelated NASA bill that's already passed and pasting in their election rigging bill.

Thanks for posting your newsletter twice a day. I look forward to reading them as soon as the newsletter is posted. Sometimes the news is pretty shocking, such as news that a woman's "lady parts" are not necessarily that of a woman. So confusing! A short look in a mirror should resolve any questions. :-)

    RE: Gervais knows:
I used to watch or even record late night shows for the humor in the monologue at the start of the show. I haven't done this since they started to politicize their monologue. And some of the so called humor is so vile that I would turn it off even if it were against a politician I did not like. With socialists they have truly have lost their sense of civility and decency. We must be cautious to not lower our standards and become like the socialists.

Gov Huckabee: Biden's urging states and companies to ignore the SC ruling on the OSHA Vax mandate is very telling, as are his CofS "work-arounds.". Biden and his Administration clearly do not respect our Constitutional separation of powers. If vaccination is "the right thing to do," what happened to reasonable persuasion or other methods of convincing people to get it, as opposed to coercion? Have always had the thought that Biden's planned methodology to "unite the country" was through coercion, rather than mediation and negotiation. Trump respected and complied with court decisions, even when the court was wrong. Why can't Biden do the same? (However, this time the SC was right in their ruling.) What else is this clearly authoritarian regime going to do over the next 3 years?

Biden think he can Executive Order legislation largely because every Federal Executive Agency has, at one time or another, given funding to States and municipalities. Most notably the USDA and FBI. Once you accept Federal funds, they OWN you. It says as much in the agreements signed for such funds. Using these agreements, the Feds camel gets its nose under everyone's tents, and they can tell you what to do, and if you don't they pull/cancel the funds.

Every time I see sleazy Joe trying to explain something, or Jen Psaki twisting herself into a pretzel to try and explain what Joe said, I keep expecting them to finish by saying "Live from New York, it's Saturday night"!
