Election News

The Democrats still have a chance to ruin everything!!!

I’m disgusted with a small and selfish group of Republicans who probably feel they are “Spartacus” but the movie best fitting them is “The Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight.”

Several of these hold-outs (I should say “hold-ups”) are friends and I supported and campaigned for many.  I won’t be in the future.  The simple of rule of politics is that you take your stand, but if you don’t have enough following to lead, then recognize that you simply didn’t sell your ideas very well.  Less than 20 GOP members of Congress are stopping 200 of their fellow Republicans from getting about the business of investigating corruption in the White House, FBI, DOJ, and in Congress itself.  Instead, without being able to articulate a specific reason for their objections, they have blocked the election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker and in so doing making the Republicans look like a bunch of 6 year olds who refuse to play unless the majority surrenders to the tantrums of the few.

Is Kevin McCarthy perfect?  Of course not.  But he has faithfully worked to recruit candidates, help fund them, and get them elected.  The ultimate outrage is that some he helped win and raised funds for now have shown they really DO think it’s about them and not the bigger principles of the conservative movement.

Dr. E. V. Hill, longtime CA pastor used to say “If you think you’re a leader and you look behind you and no one is following, you aren’t a leader—you’re just out for a walk.”  The actions of the petulant circle of “Never-Kevins” don’t amount to enough votes to get close to winning.  But they may have enough to make sure their own team loses.  These guys are setting fire to their own hosue, but they are arsonists who didn’t even have fire insurance.  The mission is just “burn it down.”  And in so doing, empowering the very Democrats some of us worked very hard to put in the minority.

We did NOT work to blow up our own opportunity to take on the Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, and Squad team, but that’s the effect of the actions of the camera hungry Congress members who may deep down believe they are more “principled” than everyone else, but have shown a startling level of political immaturity.

If the tiny crowd of political tots can’t convince a majority of their peers to follow them off the cliff, they should have the self-awareness to admit they fired their best shot and simply missed the target.  Now it’s time to fight for the American people.  If after taking leadership, Kevin and company don’t deliver, you might be able to make a better case for lighting the fuse to the bomb to blow up the place.

I agree with your comments wholeheartedly Mike. This is exactly why the American people tire of the republicans easily. When they have the majority, they splinter, fight like two-year-olds and get very little done. They become an embarrassment to the people who put them in office. I wish the republicans had the cohesiveness and dedication to the goal that the evil democrats do. If they did, we might have a chance to slow down or block the ongoing destruction of our beloved country.

Governor, This time you are out of line. While Kevin would never be my choice as speaker, I would be willing to support his in that role, IF he would just listen to the dissenters and make a few steps toward them. What earthly good will it do to have a speaker in the house who refuses to help some people get elected just because they were backed by Trump. You don't like the never Kevins, but you don't seem to mind the never Trumpers. you can discontinue my subscription to your newsletter, if you now are taking the side of the RINOS. Let a healthy debate continue for a little bit. From what I have from both sides of the isle, we might be better off if the government was shut down for a while!

    Governor,

First congratulations to your daughter on her election. Having you as a mentor I know she’ll do great things.
Now the ugly stuff. I have voted my entire life as a Republican but will no longer. I have zero faith in K McCarthy and certainly do not back him as speaker. He is an original swamp creature and has no business running for speaker. If he any honor at all he would step aside but we all know that that won’t happen. This being said, we are at a crossroads and like McCarthy, I have no faith in the Republican Party to stop the madness. I have voted for the party for the very last time. They are as much of a menace to this country as the democrats are. In the future I will only vote third party/independents. It’s past time we drain the cesspool that is Washington DC.

    A disgusted veteran and voter,

    G Donahue

For years I have watched the game of "go along to get along" when all I prayed for was that someone would take a stand and refuse to budge. I have not been following this dispute over speaker because I don't believe it matters. I don't believe, in the end, that the Republicans in control of the house will make any difference. I have learned, the hard way, that there is no cavalry coming. It's all a big show of words. For the love of God, we, the people, don't even know who is running the country. It certainly isn't demented Biden. I was born in the 50's, and, through reading history I have figured out that my perception of my country was all smoke and mirrors for my entire life. The Rockefellers, the Dulles brothers, the CIA and many more rich and powerful people (the deep state) are doing as they please. Elections don't matter as they are stolen by some means or other. At least people in other countries KNOW they have no freedom or voice. Many of us are just now learning this.

What a shame!!! I have lost my respect for some of the Republican "hold-outs." Isn't ironic that Bobart (R-CO) recently "narrowly" won her re-election. And, Gates (R'FL) has had his share of personal "scandal." How easy it is to point fingers & dispute someone else, when clearly "pointing one's fingers at others, always results in three more fingers pointing back at self!" As a Christian foremost, all else supercedes my faith. However, my grandfather ran for Mayor of our small town many years ago. He was a Republican & even spoke over me saying, "one day you'll be a Republican too." I have been voting straight party line as a Republican since I was 18...I am now 64! Sadly, given the recent events & division in the Republican Party, I have been earnestly praying whether to leave it & register an Independent. I wonder how many of my other Republican colleagues are going to possibly follow suit? Praying for God's divine discernment!??????

We disagree with your opinion on this. McCarthy is part of the DC swamp and should not be Speaker. Rep Gaetz was on your show recently and clearly detailed why McCarthy should not be Speaker. We cannot just "settle" and lower standards to elect him. I don't like how you describe this group of 20 reps who are concerned enough about McCarthy that they won't vote for him. Also, real and true leaders do not go around their place of business offering concessions in order to get elected/promoted. How nervy of him to already have moved himself into the Speaker's office before even being elected! We don't often disagree with you on political matters, but this time we do!

Mike, you're right on the target. It would be a disgrace to slap the American people in the face like that, but one cannot fix stupid unless one recognizes stupid at the ballot box.
You have the voice, haunt these people because we are very likely at point of no return if we mess this up. Democrats must be laughing their **'s off at our suicidal manner of dealing with the people's business. Where can one throw up around here?

I am so fed up with the republicans that I am now a conservative independent
Extremely upset with Bozeman, Cotton and Womack for voting to pass the heavy debt we will never get out from under.
