Election News

The Democrats still have a chance to ruin everything!!!

I’m disgusted with a small and selfish group of Republicans who probably feel they are “Spartacus” but the movie best fitting them is “The Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight.”

Several of these hold-outs (I should say “hold-ups”) are friends and I supported and campaigned for many.  I won’t be in the future.  The simple of rule of politics is that you take your stand, but if you don’t have enough following to lead, then recognize that you simply didn’t sell your ideas very well.  Less than 20 GOP members of Congress are stopping 200 of their fellow Republicans from getting about the business of investigating corruption in the White House, FBI, DOJ, and in Congress itself.  Instead, without being able to articulate a specific reason for their objections, they have blocked the election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker and in so doing making the Republicans look like a bunch of 6 year olds who refuse to play unless the majority surrenders to the tantrums of the few.

Is Kevin McCarthy perfect?  Of course not.  But he has faithfully worked to recruit candidates, help fund them, and get them elected.  The ultimate outrage is that some he helped win and raised funds for now have shown they really DO think it’s about them and not the bigger principles of the conservative movement.

Dr. E. V. Hill, longtime CA pastor used to say “If you think you’re a leader and you look behind you and no one is following, you aren’t a leader—you’re just out for a walk.”  The actions of the petulant circle of “Never-Kevins” don’t amount to enough votes to get close to winning.  But they may have enough to make sure their own team loses.  These guys are setting fire to their own hosue, but they are arsonists who didn’t even have fire insurance.  The mission is just “burn it down.”  And in so doing, empowering the very Democrats some of us worked very hard to put in the minority.

We did NOT work to blow up our own opportunity to take on the Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, and Squad team, but that’s the effect of the actions of the camera hungry Congress members who may deep down believe they are more “principled” than everyone else, but have shown a startling level of political immaturity.

If the tiny crowd of political tots can’t convince a majority of their peers to follow them off the cliff, they should have the self-awareness to admit they fired their best shot and simply missed the target.  Now it’s time to fight for the American people.  If after taking leadership, Kevin and company don’t deliver, you might be able to make a better case for lighting the fuse to the bomb to blow up the place.

Mike, I usually agree with your views, but on this one, I do not. McCarthy may be a good Republican, but he is not a good Conservative. I applaud the 20 Conservatives who are intuitive enough to understand that we MUST have a strong, true Conservative to lead us in the coming fights against the Democrats. The American people have had enough of spineless Republicans who constantly back down in the name of "civility." McCarthy is one of them. He will talk a good game in front of the cameras, but never follow through. The Democrats are no longer civil, and they are not hiding that fact. They have chosen to become radical, far left communists in lockstep with each other, and they will do whatever it takes to fundamentally transform this country. We need a Conservative Speaker who is not afraid to face them head on in the chamber, instead of whispering in their ear at the back door.

You are wrong, the majority of Republicans does not support Kevin McCarthy.
In fact for the good of the Republican Party, Kevin McCarthy should decline the nomination & step aside for the good of the Party.
The Days of Career Establishment Glad Hand Open Pockets Lobbyist Money Pursuing RINO Republicans who care far more in obtaining personal wealth, campaign donations & longevity in power at the expense of constituents is ending. McCarthy fits that description as did Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Bill Cassidy among those left in Congress.
No, the Soviet style of pre-ordained single vote everyone smiles in victory is over. A REAL Democracy (Constitutional Republic) is often messy & McCarthy committed a cardinal sin of threatening Reps who would vote against him with denial of Committee's appointments.

I and my friends have been in contact with our Congressman, Gallagher, and have told him that we do not support McCarthy as speaker, we do not trust him. He will be business as usual, and we do not want that. Gallagher does not listen to use anyways, something we will have to resolve in the next election cycle, we tried this last primary.

Dear Governor Huckebee, Before all of this started when my democrat friends, who are not satisfied with the way their party is going ask me what they need to do. I have been telling them to vote Republican, after five people holding up the House the way they have, I have no idea what to tell them. What is the difference between these original five and the January 6th Committee? They hate Trump and are willing to destroy a country for that hatred. Now five Republicans are acting the same way against McCarthy, I don't care about McCarthy either but its time to put the House to work and do what they promised before the election. Are they trying to destroy the GOP? Sure looks like it to me. Joey

Words are not adequate to describe these fools and the damage they are doing to our nation. They suffer greatly from the "I know what is best for you more than you do". It is the "holier than thou syndrome". They really do fit the definition of jerks. jm

I appreciate your comments, but I have no concerns that it may take a couple days (or weeks) to get this done. Actually, I am enjoying seeing real debate happening in the House. It is about time that the men and women we elect take the time to work through issues in front of all Americans.

Governor Huckabee-At first I agreed with what you said regarding McCarthy being given the Speakership. However, I now believe that maybe the status quo needs to be shaken up. As Trump came in as the great disrupter, perhaps the 20 house members are actually saying the swamp cannot continue as it has been for many decades now, that now may be the time for reform. I do not know how this should be settled, but there is a swamp that still needs to be drained and McCarthy is part of that old guard. Certainly our nation is still strong enough to endure some disruption and reform can be a messy but necessary process. Let's pray for the Lord to guide this process and His will be done and the person of His choosing will be selected.

As long as Mitch McConnell is senate leader I will never vote Republican again. He financed some democrats and gave nothing to Trump's republicans. McCarthy and the rest of RHINO can also shove it.
