Latest developments: In response to Putin’s threats to escalate the war, tens of thousands of troops from NATO and its European allies are gearing up for military exercises that the UK called the "largest shared deployments since the Cold War."

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy turned Russia’s Nazi rhetoric against it, saying it is Russia that’s acting like the ideological successors to the Nazis, only even more cynical because the Nazis didn’t try to claim that the people they invaded shelled and killed themselves. Zelenskyy also said the Ukrainian people are “unbreakable,” and it’s becoming “more and more obvious” that Russia’s defeat is inevitable.

4. April: Worst month for the stock market since March 2020

Friday, the stock market wrapped up one of its worst months in a long time. The Dow dropped over 900 points, the S&P 500 notched up its worst month since the pandemic began in March 2020, and the NASDAQ closed out its worst month since the 2008 financial meltdown. As Aaron Kliegman at Just The News reports, the plunge was led by big tech stocks, including Netflix, Facebook, Google and Amazon, whose earnings reports have ranged from “disappointing” to “dismal.”

While there are all sorts of excuses being given for the bad reports (COVID, Russia, you know the drill), some analysts are finally starting to wake up to the obvious: “Get woke, go broke.” These companies have jettisoned political neutrality and gone all in on wokeness, and their customers finally noticed. The former CEO of Best Buy said what’s been lost is the idea that you don’t get involved in divisive political stances because you want to attract customers of all different persuasions. He said, "I can't imagine as a CEO that you want to go fire half your customers."

But these companies stupidly did. Now they’re finding out what happens when half of their customers fire them.

5. Blame-shifting on the border and more on Biden’s Ministry of Truth

Our “Homeland Security Secretary” Alejandro Mayorkas offers nothing but blame-shifting for our open border and the surge of illegal immigration. And as for what happened to those 42 illegal border crossers who were on the terror watch list, he has no clue.

But under his “leadership” (this Administration is definitely to blame for the supply shortage of quotation marks), we now have a “Ministry of Truth”-style Disinformation Czarina to do what’s really important for domestic security: monitor Americans’ free speech in case they say something that challenges this Administration’s narratives. That might signal that they’re a potential violent threat that needs to be visited by a federal agency with lots and lots of guns.

I’m glad to see that the announcement of this shockingly unconstitutional speech-suppression board has been met with outrage, ridicule, condemnation and demands that it be killed immediately from critics across the political spectrum. Only the most diehard Biden apologists are trying to defend it.

It doesn’t help that the woman chosen as head hall monitor of our speech appears to be such a leftwing looney tune, and I mean that literally: she sings looney leftwing tunes on Twitter.

Yes, she’s not only a leftist who spreads “disinformation” with a bulldozer when it comes from the Democrats…

…she’s also a narcissistic musical theater kid. Who wouldn’t want one of those policing everything you say?

I’ll bet she was a big fan of the TV show “Glee,” which makes sense if you read this lengthy but fascinating article arguing that the rabid online “Glee” fan community was ground zero for the entire epidemic of wokeness, crybullies and “critical theory” identity politics that’s metastasized to every corner of American life.

Remember when we were told we had to elect Biden so that the “adults would be back in charge”? What we got instead is Grandpa Simpson incompetently babysitting while Bart destroys the house and Lisa annoys us with politically correct nagging and musical interludes.

But a warning: don’t let the appalling choice of office head become the story. That will give them an opening simply to replace her and keep the office. Even if she were the most sober-sided, moderate bureaucrat imaginable, the problem isn’t one individual’s personality, it’s the entire idea of a federal office to monitor and suppress American citizens’ speech. I wish Ms Jankowicz all the best in her musical theater career, but the office she’s about to assume needs to be exterminated now before it has a chance to take root.

Rep. Lauren Boebert has already authored a bill to block funding of the DHS’s “Disinformation Governance Board.” It likely won’t pass a Democrat Congress, but with any luck, and with the good sense of American voters, that won’t be an issue much longer.

While they’re at it, they might want to take a hard look at the DHS’ funding beyond its Ministry Of Truth. It seems that lately, they’ve been doing a lot of things they shouldn’t and very few of the things they’re supposed to do. I don’t see why we should keep paying for that.

7. African-American support drops for Democrats

I’m seeing a lot of articles these days about Democrat panic over a drop in support among African-Americans. I suspect that they’re just fed up with being told Republicans are racists as the Democrats take their votes for granted and make their lives worse year after year. There’s seldom been a more obvious A-B comparison of the effects of each party’s policies than two years ago under Trump, when there was record-low black unemployment and rising real wages for the first time in decades, compared to today's inflation and the huge jump in crime and murder rates in black neighborhoods of Democrat-run cities.

Virginia’s Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears also has some blunt comments about why black poll support for Democrats has dropped 20 points since Biden’s election. In a nutshell: “We're not falling for the okey-doke anymore."

8. DOJ is suing Alabama

Just to show how radical the Democrats have become, the Biden DOJ (backed by a slew of leftwing legal groups such as the ACLU, SPLC and Human Rights Campaign) are suing Alabama to overturn a new law making it illegal to give puberty-blocking medications to minors.

The lawsuit claims that these dangerous chemicals, which can have irreversible negative impacts on the patients’ health and physical development, are ”medically necessary care” for gender-confused minors. Where are those Disinformation Police when you need them?
