Early this morning, Congress certified the Electoral College vote for Joe Biden for President. Afterward, President Trump issued a statement promising an orderly transition of power on January 20th, signaling to his supporters that his challenge to the vote is over.

Some Republicans still challenged the electoral vote certification, such as Rep. Matt Gaetz

But others who had planned to join the challenge, including Sens. Marsha Blackburn and Kelly Loeffler, changed their minds after the day’s tragic violence inside the Capitol building by a small group of “Trump supporters” (there are unconfirmed reports that some might have been false-flag Antifa agitators, but others were reportedly identified as part of far-right fringe movements that did not reflect the views of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters outside.) Nevertheless, after a year of telling us not to condemn all peaceful protesters because of the violent actions of a few, that’s precisely what Democrats and the media are doing.

Some on the right are comparing the people who broke into the Capitol to American Revolutionaries. But the Founders were not a mindless mob who committed violence with no longterm plan. They resorted to revolution only after exhausting every other alternative. They issued a statement of their rights and grievances and pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to defend it. They didn’t harm their own side by mindlessly smashing windows in the British Parliament. A later revolutionary protester, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., spoke his piece from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial; he didn’t vandalize it.

Let me be clear: I absolutely and unequivocally condemn the actions of the mob who smashed their way into the Capitol, just as I also call for an investigation of Capitol police who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt, a female Air Force veteran of 14 years.

Here’s more background on Babbitt and the shooting.

In Twitter comments, some people expressed sadness and dismay, but others coldly dismissed her as a traitor and a terrorist and good riddance (I’m sure the same people who are outraged over police brutality against leftist protesters.) It’s true that no one should have breached the barricades Antifa-style, shattered a window, entered the building and confronted security officers. It was a terrible thing. But why were they met with gunfire? I remember Democrats reacting with outrage at a Trump suggestion that looters be shot. In a tragic update, the DC Police have said that four people are now dead, although they didn’t release the causes, which are reportedly medical.

I am gratified to see that, at long last, Democrats are finally condemning mob violence. Only a few months ago, Washington, DC, and many other cities were ablaze; there were riots, arson, looting and assaults on federal buildings and monuments; and their response was to defend the mob and prosecute anyone who stood up to them. Nancy Pelosi infamously said she didn’t care about some old buildings. It’s suddenly a very different matter when one of those “old buildings” is the one with her office in it.

I’ll stress that pointing out the other side’s hypocrisy and Johnny-come-lately outrage is not an excuse. There is no excuse for breaking-and-entering and disrupting the constitutionally-mandated joint session of the House and Senate that was to certify (or not) the state electors. This was perhaps the ONE CHANCE before January 20 that Republicans would have to present their evidence of election fraud, unconstitutionality and error that might have shown Trump to be the actual winner in certain contested states. It’s something that needed to happen, calmly, openly, rationally. More investigation will be needed to determine why these people felt oddly compelled to disrupt this process and undermine the cause of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters outside.

And about Trump supporters: again, NOT AN EXCUSE, but let's look at how many of us feel right now. We’ve been treated like second-class citizens going on five years. In some professions, we can’t even hint at our political leanings. The blacklist against conservatives is as pervasive and powerful as the one used against leftists in the McCarthy era. The Ivy League elite have consistently condescended to us. On college campuses, conservatives risk being “canceled,” even dropped from academic programs because of some "problematic" tweet. The media try to gaslight us at every turn, repeatedly and with no evidence telling us that our President cares only for himself and is a traitor, an agent of Russia. We're tired of being told that 2+2=5. All the while, they bury stories about Hillary, the Bidens, and the partisan federal bureaucracy out to get Trump and anyone on his side.

It’s gotten worse since the election. The deep concerns of millions have been dismissed. Even in the face of wild statistical anomalies and numerous unexplained election-night oddities, questioning the results in any way is forbidden. “Why, this election was PERFECT!” we’re told. “It was the most secure election we have ever had in our history!” Good grief, we don’t have to be crazy conspiracy theorists to recognize these grandiose remarks as overstatements at the very least. Shakespeare might say that election officials “doth protest too much.”

We’ve seen blatant misreporting in the mainstream media, who prefer the false narrative that “courts have dismissed every one of the Trump lawsuits because, as we all know, there is no evidence.” In truth, the courts find other reasons, such as the inexplicable “lack of standing,” to keep from HAVING to look at any evidence. When the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, does this, what is the recourse?

About 70 million Americans suspect that the results of this election are not to be trusted. But these people have been shut down, silenced, and banned from social media or flagged as “misinformation” or “disputed” for daring even to question it. Even the President himself has been treated this way. If we have to sweep this under the rug, as Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) insist we do, we will never trust another election again.

So when media pundits say that challenging these election results is “interfering with democracy,” I say they’re off by 180 degrees. Under current conditions, challenging the election results is SAVING democracy. Stand back, let the Constitution do its work, and let the chips fall where they may.

The violence on Wednesday wasn't just completely unacceptable, it was downright stupid. It was stupid because the worst consequence --- not counting, of course, the loss of four lives --- is that the visuals of the Capitol being stormed will be exploited forever, used as justification to go full pedal-to-the-metal in quashing the rights of conservatives. Take away their civil liberties, leftists will cry; those people shouldn’t have any say! Why, those right-wing racists/sexists/homophobes/traitors don’t deserve a voice, a place in society, or even a way to make a living. Shun them! Cancel them! (And forget all the video of leftists smashing and burning cities from coast-to-coast.)

All of that was coming anyway, incrementally, if they gained power, but this event by a relatively small number of people hastens it.

For all those who are upset at the way the election was handled, and worried about the future of America under Democrat rule, join the club. But we’ve known for two months that any challenges to the November election were the longest of longshots. I defended Trump’s right to make those challenges legally and constitutionally, but it was never likely that Congress would reject electors that the states had certified.

Probably the best that we could hope for was that the challenges might result in what Ted Cruz called for (basically, what I called for just days after the election): an open, bipartisan investigation of alleged voting irregularities, so that if there was anything illegal it would come to light, and if not, Americans could be assured that the vote was trustworthy and Biden wouldn’t govern under a cloud of suspicion.

Now, thanks to the unforgivable actions of hotheads, even that hope has been dashed. Democrats may think they’ve pulled out a hat trick here: they’ve escaped an audit of the vote, Biden’s victory is certified, and Trump and all his supporters are permanently tarnished. But millions of Americans who feel their concerns have been dismissed and their voices silenced will not go away simply because the media try to shame them into it.

Our leaders had one chance to repair the tattered fabric of trust in elections that enables a nation of 320 million people of very different views to accept the results and move on, and they didn’t take it. I hope Joe Biden is sincere in his claim that he wants to be the President of all Americans, but sadly, that job just became far more difficult.

The election was stolen by the evil Democrats which is now the new Communist party. Traitorous Republicans allowed the steal which includes Pence and many more. We found out that there are very few Patriots in Congress, but traitors are plentiful. Just because of the violence at the Capitol, the "facts" did not change about the election fraud, a thousand affidavits of witnesses, fixed Dominion voting machines, etc, but Traitors in Congress used that as an excuse to change their vote, not present evidence. There will be no committee to investigate this under illigitamate Biden-Harris dictatorship. All swept under the evil Dems, now the new Communist party, rug. No wonder 75+ million Trump supporters are angry. The courts including SCOTUS (Swamp court of the United States or now former United States) let the American people down. The Republic we once were is almost ready to be destroyed and the worthless majority of Republicans let it happen. They are trying to appease the evil Dems like Chamberlain tried to appease Hitler. Their spineless appeasing will backfire. DEFUND POLITICIANS, NOT THE POLICE!! I will never support the worthless Republicans ever again. They are just as bad as the Democrats, no difference. The likes of Pence and all the Republican traitors have forever established their legacy and 75+ million Trump supporters will not forget. For thr future, if you can go buy more guns and ammo, because the Civil War is coming and never again should we look to courts or politicians to look out for our Constitutional rights, liberties and freedoms, but will need to do it for ourselves, because we have been shown the evil that is going to try and snuff out the good!!!

Now did you ever give a thought to that the whole storming of the Capital building was a planned set up as well. They conveniently blamed the Trump supporters and made them look bad, while there were Antofagasta and BLM infiltrators among the group. There needs to be a LOT of investigating done, but weather anything will become of it, will justice be served? I would be surprised. I as well as many other American people have lost faith and credibility in those who were sworn to protect and uphold the rule of law. This ordeal was another planned event to scare and deceive. I am utterly disgusted with the whole political system. The left planned it and got their way in the end and the Republican leaders just let it happen.

A sad day for sure. With all the suggestions of socialism hitting us from the left, they have to accept the consequence of their motives. As you said, no, it is not getting any easier to do the job of running the government. President Trump has represented the will of the people from day 1. People do not forget, and will not by loosing their clout of vote. So many people DO NOT want any semblence of socialism/communism whatever. Schumer's speech, about Georgia and then the World, speaks volumes and BTW is just as emotional as Trump's rally speech. You are absolutely correct about suppression and that is not freedom. BTW, the health officials are not very studious about viruses, more like prison guards with a sadistic mindset. I go for walks for fresh air and am not getting anything in my lungs to send me to a hospital. Not sick since the lockdown(but use mask in stores, in case of others).
Oh, well, guess we need to hunker down for that "long cold winter".
We wish the President to stand his ground and finish his task as he dictated, today. Pelosi and Schumer, if nothing else to do, should restudy the primer 101 on politics(and cap their thoughts).
    Thanks Mike!

Thank God for you to bring your take. I am so numb and so discouraged. I fear we are definitely headed towards socialism. The Dems want it but now I’m concerned so do the Republicans. I have lost so much respect for so many. There only a few fighters left- Ted Cruz, Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz to name a few. Pls give me hope if you can. Thank you!!

I think it was a stolen election don;t agree with what the people did at the capital but wasn't Trump's fault just can't understand why it was ok for BLM to riot burn business and come against the ploice and it was ok with the DEmocrats but now its the most terrible thing with them and the media with the white people being wrong.

Governor Huckabee, you are always a voice of reason for me and my husband. We watch your show every week and hope to visit in person some day. I read your news every day as well. I am brokenhearted at the direction our country has taken. Please keep doing all you do to encourage those of us who love Jesus, love America, and wish for better days. Still think you would be an awesome President!

I was appalled yesterday watching the actions in DC on the TV. I am part of the baby boomer silent majority having taken over this roll from my deceased parents who were part of the Greatest Generation.
I had such hope for Trump. Voted for him twice. What a disappointment. Yesterday he fanned the flames of insurrection. He literally told these people to take control of the government and change the election results. Threw Pence under the buss. Voting irregularities have been happening for many elections and unfortunately will continue.

Donald proved that he is just an empty suit. A power monger. A despot. A dictator.
In the service industry where I worked, we had a saying. One screw-up wipes out 10 atta-boys.
Yesterday wiped out Donalds entire presidency.
He deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Now his house of cards will tumble.
I write this with heavy heart. I hate being duped. I only hope that Biden will do better.

As tragic as yesterday was, and this is all we saw on TV. What happened to showing what congress was doing after they took back up, this what most of the protesters were want to hear about and know what was going to happen. Yes a lot of people thought there was hope of the election being turned around, those supporters will always think it was stolen and should be returned, just as those haters of Trump will always hate him. The talk about unity it will not happen until congress goes back to doing what the voters at home who pay their salaries do what we want, stop passing laws that, you do a favor for me and I will do a favor for you, than we will get this passed. Laws or bills to be passed should be one direct item (no add on's or your pet projects, (such as the arts, etc.). Stop adding new law to in force a law already on the books, because it does meet (a minority group idea of what they want). Laws should be made to cover the majority of the population (not just a few), consider the differences of everyone across the country.

I am hearing today that everyone knew all along that the President was saying was not going to change the results. In my opinion the congress (senate and house) did not come out and tell the public that the states do have more control over the election results, (however the states were allowed to change their laws at the last minute, went through the back door to change their laws, etc. and did stuff the ballot box to win, (there is fraud and has always been fraud), but when it was question this year (because the left hates Trump so bad) that it was a cover up and they got by with it, people do not forget when they have been wronged, just we will forgive them because of our religious believes we are suppose to forgive), but forget how Trump has be treated no likely in a long time. Trump did not cause the issue yesterday, he had no control over the actions of or read the minds of what a number of people were going to do, just because he said to be "____________" when they went to the capital.

Tucker Carlson, is right it is not just the left that hates Trump, there are A LOT of republicans that hates him also, left and right they never learned that he marches to a different drum and he was not going to stump to their level. (There is so much corruption in the government that it will never change because it has gotten so big there is not way to have checks and balances on everyone and everything, it likes a round robin, everyone that is corrupt is always one or two paces adhead of who every should be checking on them, that they don't have to worry, as we have witnessed in the past four years, we will never see justice done for just the things that happened in the past four years, let alone what will continue to happen in the future, this is why so many Americans have said why vote, why questions the senators, or representatives, they don't represent the voters, they just get stuff passed that helps them, not the people at home.

I could stay on my soap box for every, but it wouldn't do any good.

Thank you so much for your thorough commentary on last night’s events and the election along with the whole state of the nation. You have correctly, in my opinion, described the frustration all Trump supporters have felt throughout the last several years. There is hardly any recourse and now not even a balance of power. Keep trying to be an encouraging force as we sorely need it to combat the wildly left ideas coming our way which do really look like us descending into a socialistic country. How very sad.

My thoughts exactly, except I could not express them as well. Antifa and BLM are the ISIS for the Democrat Party. The disturbance at the Capitol fits their mode of operation. They infiltrate peaceful demonstrations and do the Democrats dirty work turning them violent. A perfect way for the Democrats to keep the election fraud evidence from being presented.

Thank you for having the most civilized report of what's been happening. I listened to Biden announcing his Attorney General today but first ad to listen to him bash Trump for 10-12 mins if not longer. WHY??? All they wanted was for Trump to assure the Nation the rigged election wasn't rigged????? I guess the biggest take away lesson from the past 5 years is "STAY HUMBLE". No matter what good you do- if they hate you it doesn't matter. NOW that the DEMS have their way- not matter how they got it...it's time to be nice??? I been asking, "where's God", then I hear that still small voice say, "2 Chronicle 7:14. Maybe, just maybe our incredible Lord and Savior has bigger plans for the "salvation" of this Nation and the World! I watch in awesome wonder!

Love you, your daughter and all you both do to SERVE! Thank you- Fran

Antifa and the dems orchestrated the violence to take the focus off the state governments’ defiance of state legislatures who condemned and HAD EVIDENCE of massive fraud. The sickening propagandists in the media have censored the truth and led people to believe changing legislative orders regarding elections is perfectly fine. God bless President Trump and thank God for all he has accomplished. I will never accept biden as my president.

It is starting to make sense with only about two weeks to go why do they now want to try and impeach Trump. They don’t want him to run again in 2024. If they don’t impeach him there is nothing to prevent him and people will probably want to re-elect him by then. How crazy can it get?

The democrats have succeeded to fraud the American people of a just election. They knew they had no way of winning the election without changing votes in the voting machines, collecting illegal mail in ballots, and stuffing the ballot boxes with hundreds of thousands of illegal ballots during a count stoppage during election night. They planned this before the election and republicans did nothing to ensure a just election would occur. Now that the house, senate, and whitehouse has been taken fraudulently by the Democrats, they will pass laws that will ensure there will never again be a victory for a republican president and never again be a republican majority in the house and senate. America is now no longer a democratic republic. It is a tyrannical regime of arrogant rich people that have no regard for people. They only care about power and money. God protect us from this time forward.

It is so obvious to me that the violence and entering the building were a complete set up. The timing to disrupt the Senate just when momentum was climbing in favor of proving election problems and the ease that the few hotheads had in gaining access to chambers, is strange. Everyone today is so eager to blame Trump. The left want to eradicate Trump’s legacy and scare any outsider of ever threatening the deep state again!

You state on the 1 hand that there are reports that the storm troopers were actually Antifa plants and then you claim the assault was stupid. I suspected very soon after hearing about the attack that it may have been perpetrated by Antifa to smear the Trump peaceful demonstration. If that is the case, which I believe it is, then it was not stupid it was genius! Diabolic but genius. Of course the left is diabolic because they are Satan's minions. It is high time all Americans on the right recognize that this struggle that we are in is, at it's root, a spiritual battle. Until we recognize that fact and reembrace fully our Christian and limited constitutional roots, we will not return our country to sanity.

Don't be too quick to drink the kool aid that these were Trump supporters. Where was Antifa during all this? Their normal MO is open confrontation with protests they don't like but they were nowhere to be found. Except maybe in disguise in the middle of the crowd of real Trumpers? That would be something right out of Alinsky and leftist, anarchist agent provocateur playbook. Create havoc and get your opponent blamed. Nothing new, same successful (sadly) playbook used before. This is ridiculous! No I do not approve of the storming the Whitehouse, but neither do I approve of the cowardly actions taken by these senators you mention. This is like saying that because one soldier gets scared and runs, the whole army has to. Just because some people got violent does NOT mean everybody has to stop standing for what is right. Our Republican leadership have let us down in so many ways, we need to completely clean house. We have just a couple/few who are willing to stand up to the nonsense - the rest are useless and need to be replaced.
