I’m disgusted with a small and selfish group of Republicans who probably feel they are “Spartacus” but the movie best fitting them is “The Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight.”

Several of these hold-outs (I should say “hold-ups”) are friends and I supported and campaigned for many.  I won’t be in the future.  The simple of rule of politics is that you take your stand, but if you don’t have enough following to lead, then recognize that you simply didn’t sell your ideas very well.  Less than 20 GOP members of Congress are stopping 200 of their fellow Republicans from getting about the business of investigating corruption in the White House, FBI, DOJ, and in Congress itself.  Instead, without being able to articulate a specific reason for their objections, they have blocked the election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker and in so doing making the Republicans look like a bunch of 6 year olds who refuse to play unless the majority surrenders to the tantrums of the few.

Is Kevin McCarthy perfect?  Of course not.  But he has faithfully worked to recruit candidates, help fund them, and get them elected.  The ultimate outrage is that some he helped win and raised funds for now have shown they really DO think it’s about them and not the bigger principles of the conservative movement.

Dr. E. V. Hill, longtime CA pastor used to say “If you think you’re a leader and you look behind you and no one is following, you aren’t a leader—you’re just out for a walk.”  The actions of the petulant circle of “Never-Kevins” don’t amount to enough votes to get close to winning.  But they may have enough to make sure their own team loses.  These guys are setting fire to their own hosue, but they are arsonists who didn’t even have fire insurance.  The mission is just “burn it down.”  And in so doing, empowering the very Democrats some of us worked very hard to put in the minority.

We did NOT work to blow up our own opportunity to take on the Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, and Squad team, but that’s the effect of the actions of the camera hungry Congress members who may deep down believe they are more “principled” than everyone else, but have shown a startling level of political immaturity.

If the tiny crowd of political tots can’t convince a majority of their peers to follow them off the cliff, they should have the self-awareness to admit they fired their best shot and simply missed the target.  Now it’s time to fight for the American people.  If after taking leadership, Kevin and company don’t deliver, you might be able to make a better case for lighting the fuse to the bomb to blow up the place.

Praise God for a small group of America loving representatives who had the strength from God to stand up against the MSM, the establishment in DC, the do nothing but talk big "conservative radio" personalities, and all the others like you, Mike Huckabee, to work their rears off in an attempt to bring the House back to representing hard working Americans. You SHOULD send each and every one a letter of apology and thank you, and pray they are successful with the rule changes. YOU of all people SHOULD remember the unfair attacks against you when YOU were running for president. YOU have become that attack dog, just like those who went after you. All an attack based on first instincts and an "owner's" hackles being up, biting the UPS, FX, or USPS driver who was delivering a gift. The "owner" is far out of touch with America! Get your letters of apology and thank you out. Those representatives are more in touch with American than any in the Senate and all the others in the House, and they had the courage from God to stand up and represent us. I thank God for them, and pray for their protection.

On Breitbart 12 changes to the rules of the House were posted now ask yourself why they weren’t a standard for all Republicans?
Only 20 Statesmen exist in the House!
You have only looked at what the MSM wants us to see!

Governor, shame on you for saying you won’t donate to those who opposed McCarthy for speaker. I usually agree with you but not this time. Even Jim Jordan admitted that that is exactly how the process is suppose to work. Saying the founders created the process to make it difficult for a Speaker, or anyone else attempting to be elected, to glide into the position easily without exchange of ideas or disagreements. The rules package calls for 1 member to be able to force a VOTE to vacate the chair, not 1 member to demand the Speaker vacate the chair. It’s unlikely the VOTE would actually pass, but if it did pass, there would be a reason for it. Not just opposition party bickering. So, while I am glad the party finally came together, I’m also glad they took the hard way to reach the end result. It’s what a true constitutional republic looks like, imho. This is not a democracy, as democrats have forever tried to make it. We are a constitutional republic. Thus we are Republicans. I hope you’ll reconsider not donating to those who held out for a better rules package. They are the ones who buck the status quo with no regard for what the media and pundits are saying. They’re trying to do the best for the We the People, same as those who didn’t hold out for something better. God bless you for stating why you didn’t support their efforts, but that’s why there’s still the free exchange of ideas, which there’s an effort to squelch by the left. This is the first time I’ve commented on a subject you’ve brought forth. I hope you’ll see there’s worth in the process that played out. I don’t see the 20 as just trying to get noticed. Thanks for reading.

Mr. Huckabee, your news letters are always on target and the very best. Thank you for being such a wonderful guy. Just want to say I am so thankful Pelosi is gone.

Boy, I sure do disagree with you on this one, Governor! Mitch McConnel is a big fat RINO as far as I have seen, and his 'promises' are empty words. I am grateful that those "20" had the fortitude to stand their ground. As for "Never Kevins", I seem to recall that Kevin has been a Never Trumper from day one. That right there gives me cause for pause when it comes to automatically handing him the Speakership. I think these brave souls deserve the gratitude of the American citizens for hanging in there, perhaps squelching some of the back room deals. God bless you, anyway! :)

I don't think the "rebel" Republicans are selfish or disgusting. I think they pushed back to get some needed changed made to the House rules. Chip Roy's talking with the media I think were articulate and made sense. In his podcast Ted Cruz' explained what was happening - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/verdict-with-ted-cruz/id1495601614?i=1000592985795.
In his podcasts this past week, Dan Bongino also explained how this was good for the party and the country.
The Heritage Foundation also said that this process was a good thing - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-daily-signal-podcast/id1313611947?i=1000592817823.

While Kevin McCarthy seem to say the right things, there are questions that need to be answered. Yes, he raised money for Republican candidates, but he gave it to more moderate candidates at the expense of America First candidates, similar to what Mitch has done.
Also, where did he get the money? Supposedly $2 million was give by FTX. What is that all about?
Kevin also has connections to the WEF. This certainly needs explanation. WEF is no friend of America.

I appreciate the changes that the “20” negotiated. The process was painful to watch, and went on a little longer than I wish it had, but the results were worth it in my opinion. The House and our entire government are broken. Change is hard and needed. That is what the “20” worked for and achieved - an initial set of changes.

Mike, I have to disagree. Our congressional reps deserve to be able to be part of the conversation and interact on the floor. There are other republicans who are now saying this is a good thing. Theres some good concessions. We have have to switch things up and my feeling is we were watching democracy at work even though the media says differently. Everything they want is dismantling Pelosi’s dictatorship.

    Dear Governor Huckabee,

I respectfully disagree with you about your opinion concerning the twenty holdout Congressmen.
We elected this year's Representatives for one major reason--to drain the swamp and take control from the progressive liberal mob. Watching 90% of those Representatives favor one of the problem makers tells me in no uncertain terms that nothing has changed in Congress. Every one of the twenty have been called terrorists and opportunistic for demanding seats on critical committees, yet having these duly elected patriots on those committees is the only way to hold the line in the House. There is nothing selfish or wrong in following the promises made to the voters who elected them. I am most disappointed in the 90% who were duly elected who do not appear to have their constituents' wishes on their minds, only wanting to maintain the status quo.
I will wait and watch as this tale unfolds, and if it falls as I believe it will, all I ask is that you acknowledge your mis-read on the situation. If it works, you will have my written apology.
    Thank you,
    Karen Coryell

Personally, I am proud of the twenty representatives who stood by their principles despite pressure from all sides. Their action forced negotiations that would have been ignored otherwise. The next step is a vote by congress on the rule changes that if passed will benefit new and old representatives alike and encourage the speaker to listen to even minority opinions. Perhaps the ensuing discussions will improve the deliberations required to legislate for all Americans.
