January 7, 2021

Early this morning, Congress certified the Electoral College vote for Joe Biden for President. Afterward, President Trump issued a statement promising an orderly transition of power on January 20th, signaling to his supporters that his challenge to the vote is over.

Some Republicans still challenged the electoral vote certification, such as Rep. Matt Gaetz

But others who had planned to join the challenge, including Sens. Marsha Blackburn and Kelly Loeffler, changed their minds after the day’s tragic violence inside the Capitol building by a small group of “Trump supporters” (there are unconfirmed reports that some might have been false-flag Antifa agitators, but others were reportedly identified as part of far-right fringe movements that did not reflect the views of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters outside.) Nevertheless, after a year of telling us not to condemn all peaceful protesters because of the violent actions of a few, that’s precisely what Democrats and the media are doing.

Some on the right are comparing the people who broke into the Capitol to American Revolutionaries. But the Founders were not a mindless mob who committed violence with no longterm plan. They resorted to revolution only after exhausting every other alternative. They issued a statement of their rights and grievances and pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to defend it. They didn’t harm their own side by mindlessly smashing windows in the British Parliament. A later revolutionary protester, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., spoke his piece from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial; he didn’t vandalize it.

Let me be clear: I absolutely and unequivocally condemn the actions of the mob who smashed their way into the Capitol, just as I also call for an investigation of Capitol police who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt, a female Air Force veteran of 14 years.

Here’s more background on Babbitt and the shooting.

In Twitter comments, some people expressed sadness and dismay, but others coldly dismissed her as a traitor and a terrorist and good riddance (I’m sure the same people who are outraged over police brutality against leftist protesters.) It’s true that no one should have breached the barricades Antifa-style, shattered a window, entered the building and confronted security officers. It was a terrible thing. But why were they met with gunfire? I remember Democrats reacting with outrage at a Trump suggestion that looters be shot. In a tragic update, the DC Police have said that four people are now dead, although they didn’t release the causes, which are reportedly medical.

I am gratified to see that, at long last, Democrats are finally condemning mob violence. Only a few months ago, Washington, DC, and many other cities were ablaze; there were riots, arson, looting and assaults on federal buildings and monuments; and their response was to defend the mob and prosecute anyone who stood up to them. Nancy Pelosi infamously said she didn’t care about some old buildings. It’s suddenly a very different matter when one of those “old buildings” is the one with her office in it.

I’ll stress that pointing out the other side’s hypocrisy and Johnny-come-lately outrage is not an excuse. There is no excuse for breaking-and-entering and disrupting the constitutionally-mandated joint session of the House and Senate that was to certify (or not) the state electors. This was perhaps the ONE CHANCE before January 20 that Republicans would have to present their evidence of election fraud, unconstitutionality and error that might have shown Trump to be the actual winner in certain contested states. It’s something that needed to happen, calmly, openly, rationally. More investigation will be needed to determine why these people felt oddly compelled to disrupt this process and undermine the cause of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters outside.

And about Trump supporters: again, NOT AN EXCUSE, but let's look at how many of us feel right now. We’ve been treated like second-class citizens going on five years. In some professions, we can’t even hint at our political leanings. The blacklist against conservatives is as pervasive and powerful as the one used against leftists in the McCarthy era. The Ivy League elite have consistently condescended to us. On college campuses, conservatives risk being “canceled,” even dropped from academic programs because of some "problematic" tweet. The media try to gaslight us at every turn, repeatedly and with no evidence telling us that our President cares only for himself and is a traitor, an agent of Russia. We're tired of being told that 2+2=5. All the while, they bury stories about Hillary, the Bidens, and the partisan federal bureaucracy out to get Trump and anyone on his side.

It’s gotten worse since the election. The deep concerns of millions have been dismissed. Even in the face of wild statistical anomalies and numerous unexplained election-night oddities, questioning the results in any way is forbidden. “Why, this election was PERFECT!” we’re told. “It was the most secure election we have ever had in our history!” Good grief, we don’t have to be crazy conspiracy theorists to recognize these grandiose remarks as overstatements at the very least. Shakespeare might say that election officials “doth protest too much.”

We’ve seen blatant misreporting in the mainstream media, who prefer the false narrative that “courts have dismissed every one of the Trump lawsuits because, as we all know, there is no evidence.” In truth, the courts find other reasons, such as the inexplicable “lack of standing,” to keep from HAVING to look at any evidence. When the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, does this, what is the recourse?

About 70 million Americans suspect that the results of this election are not to be trusted. But these people have been shut down, silenced, and banned from social media or flagged as “misinformation” or “disputed” for daring even to question it. Even the President himself has been treated this way. If we have to sweep this under the rug, as Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) insist we do, we will never trust another election again.

So when media pundits say that challenging these election results is “interfering with democracy,” I say they’re off by 180 degrees. Under current conditions, challenging the election results is SAVING democracy. Stand back, let the Constitution do its work, and let the chips fall where they may.

The violence on Wednesday wasn't just completely unacceptable, it was downright stupid. It was stupid because the worst consequence --- not counting, of course, the loss of four lives --- is that the visuals of the Capitol being stormed will be exploited forever, used as justification to go full pedal-to-the-metal in quashing the rights of conservatives. Take away their civil liberties, leftists will cry; those people shouldn’t have any say! Why, those right-wing racists/sexists/homophobes/traitors don’t deserve a voice, a place in society, or even a way to make a living. Shun them! Cancel them! (And forget all the video of leftists smashing and burning cities from coast-to-coast.)

All of that was coming anyway, incrementally, if they gained power, but this event by a relatively small number of people hastens it.

For all those who are upset at the way the election was handled, and worried about the future of America under Democrat rule, join the club. But we’ve known for two months that any challenges to the November election were the longest of longshots. I defended Trump’s right to make those challenges legally and constitutionally, but it was never likely that Congress would reject electors that the states had certified.

Probably the best that we could hope for was that the challenges might result in what Ted Cruz called for (basically, what I called for just days after the election): an open, bipartisan investigation of alleged voting irregularities, so that if there was anything illegal it would come to light, and if not, Americans could be assured that the vote was trustworthy and Biden wouldn’t govern under a cloud of suspicion.

Now, thanks to the unforgivable actions of hotheads, even that hope has been dashed. Democrats may think they’ve pulled out a hat trick here: they’ve escaped an audit of the vote, Biden’s victory is certified, and Trump and all his supporters are permanently tarnished. But millions of Americans who feel their concerns have been dismissed and their voices silenced will not go away simply because the media try to shame them into it.

Our leaders had one chance to repair the tattered fabric of trust in elections that enables a nation of 320 million people of very different views to accept the results and move on, and they didn’t take it. I hope Joe Biden is sincere in his claim that he wants to be the President of all Americans, but sadly, that job just became far more difficult.

Our own news media, social media, tv station, and our own states We have to start just like our forefathers did when they started this country. Republicans and our Supreme Court are not going to help and we can’t trust it to get voted in for sure

as you have mentioned, we are all feed up with the double standards. I feel that the left has gone just far enough to cause more people to start taking things into their own hands, especially when the supreme court failed to do their job and bowed to the left. we all know that Biden will not be president for long and if things go too far left, too fast, you will see more violence and watch this country fall apart. Civil war does not have to be with guns etc., but by people rebelling however they can.

Write the truth and that is without an uprising in mass the country will be fully communist within 100 days. We have no power now and everything the democrats want will make it a permanent 1 party rule and the constitution will be shredded and you will be put in a gulag if you don’t conform.

I am heartbroken for this country that I love. Yesterday’s events brought me to tears as I watched in disbelief my country's capital fall under siege.
At first, like many people I know, I let myself become judgmental and attempted to lump many people into one big pile of thugs, I was wrong to do so, and if you are in the same boat with me, I hope you will reevaluate your reactions as well. The truth is, many good and patriotic people were in that protest on January 6th. They were attending a rally to voice their concerns of an election that they felt was less than fair. As has been the history of Trump rallies, they came there to be a valued part of a group, who on this day had planned a peaceful protest. These people deserve our respect and our attention to listen to their concerns-- over 70 million people believe the election was a fraud, people from both major parties. I think now would be a good time to flush out the issues with our voting programs and fix it before the 2022 elections so everyone is on the same page. Let’s make sure dead people don't vote! Let's Talk about voter id‘s and the pros and cons of mail in ballots. Whether or not the fraud allegations are true, certainly there were some issues with voting. 70 million people cannot all be liars. So where is the harm in listening to and investigating their concerns? Just as we should listen to those who voice concerns over race discrimination, sexual discrimination, religious discrimination or the unbelievable destruction of small businesses from covid restrictions . One of our country's biggest assets has always been our ability to work through issues and sometimes to just agree to disagree. What happened? When did that shared respect disappear? When did we collectively decide that if we have different opinions, we must destroy one another?
I do not know what transpired that turned yesterday's peaceful rally into a nightmare. I am not sure anyone can know for sure. I wonder if it was like a union meeting I attended years ago, where people from outside my community came and threw bricks through windows!!!! I was there to support a peaceful demonstration for negotiation of benefits, I wanted nothing to do with throwing bricks and breaking windows. I wonder if that is what occurred at the capital yesterday?
I can tell you that I do not believe it was president Trump's fault, nor was it the fault of any of the other rally speakers. I guess that whole “personal responsibility” thing my parents pounded home when I was a kid has stuck with me through all these years. You remember the “if all of your friends jumped off a bridge” speech…. Anyway, I was never allowed to blame anyone else for my behavior, a rule I believe all citizens and especially politicians should adopt.
Having climbed upon my high horse to say we need to be less judgmental, I do believe we all bear some responsibility for the outcome we experienced yesterday. When our newscasters began to spew opinions instead of facts, we should have called them out. When politicians became so ruthless and filled with hate, we should have fired them. When political commercials were condemning the opponent instead of giving us information about new ideas we should not have voted for them. When neighbors bully neighbors we should attempt to help resolve the issues. When we see groups of people voicing legitimate concerns we should help them find solutions, not attempt to silence their voice. Things have gotten so far from civil it is just hard to recognize the county I grew up to love and respect.
Here is an example of what I believe has sunk us all into new lows. For five years I have watched people who were elected to represent me wage war against the President of the United States of America. Our congress has opposed his every suggestion. I have listened as Donald Trump was blamed for all bad behavior nationwide and never given credit for his and his administration's accomplishments. His followers have been called names by high ranking officials. They have been labeled as deplorables, idiots and chumps. It is disgusting! While I must admit many of Trump's tweets and snits were offensive to me, I still believe he and his staff made many good decisions, and have many accomplishments of which they should be very proud. It seems obvious to me this man was harassed and degraded relentlessly. I was so ashamed when the speaker of the house of my county tore up a copy of his state of the union address on public television. How immature! What a disgrace! She should have immediately lost her seat. Now there are calls for Trump’s prosecution when he leaves office! Seriously? How can we hope to entice any decent human being ever to run for elected office under this type of abuse! The truth is almost half the county liked him and half didn’t.
For at least a decade, I have watched news channels depict violent riots as peaceful and the destruction of the livelihoods of my fellow citizens acceptable. Looting, abuse of innocent people and the terrorization of patriots has been justified. These things were not occurring during any single president's watch, there is plenty of blame to go around in both parties.
So where do we go from here? Well, I think we need to listen to one another, acknowledge wrongs that need to be righted and work together to resolve our differences. We need to respect one another even if we don't agree. We need to stop blaming everyone else for our problems. We need to learn about our history and not attempt to erase it. We need to demand the leaders in our country show respect for every citizen and every elected official.
Every four years we hold a national election in our country in which about half of our citizens are happy with the results and half are not. Used to be when the election was over the winners did not gloat but reached out to bring our country together, and the losing party licked their wounds and vowed to fight another day. The new judicial, legislative and executive branches of our government worked together to benefit our country, and never attempted to undermine a sitting president even if they voted for someone else.
-- I think most of all, we need more of that! Dd See Less

America is badly wounded. This time, the political volcano has gone off like Mt. Saint Hellen. I am within weeks of 80 yrs. old and I have witnessed political eruptions before, but this time is a killer! Our country has been on a steep slide toward destruction for a long time and I have relished these 4 years of the Trump presidency. It seems like a 4 yr. recess in the slide, but now by every means possible, short of murder, those determined to destroy us have completed their coup with a stolen cyber election. But, ...... The same God that delivered Daniel from the lions den and raised Jesus from the dead, is still in control! Terrible persecution may be in store in this new year, "BUT GOD" has promised to never leave us or forsake us and in that, I find peace in the midst of the storms of life. All Americans need to repent and get back to "In God We Trust"!

The violence was timed perfectly to disrupt the hearing & change people's minds. Pence, well, I used to think very highly of him, but he is right down there w/ mcconnell, romney & other cowardly traitors. The actions of a few paid thugs ruined Trump's chance to challenge to votes & those criminals were NOT Trump supporters. What are the odds-I know you don't bet- but what are the odds that shortly after inauguration something happens to bumbling biden? Then commie harris will take over. Thanks for what you do

After reading your great commentary on the events of January 6, 2021, one thing seems obvious to me: who had anything to gain by this foolish attack on the Capital? Certainly not conservatives, and especially not Trump supporters. Although I am sure some frustrated Republicans joined in or maybe some fringe lunatics were in on the "plan" but it seems obvious to me that the Liberals, led by Antifa knew perfectly well the damage they could do to Trump supporters and conservatives, in general, for years to come by this staged attack.

I cannot pray for Biden or Harris or any democrat it’s time for God to do his will with them. I love president Trump but can no longer support the Republican Party because they have no guts to stay together I’m going to be come a independent but a very conservative one and will vote republican when needed. Can you amagine if Trumps 74 million voters decided to be come independents what would the Republican Party become? Just like the Libertarian party. Who?

    Dear Mr Huckabee,
Guess we will be called China's territory---
How can we stop them. Pres. Trump is the best Pres. since George Washington, he has done more good than anyone, because he isn't a politician they turned on him, the media in this country are nothing but mean liars, unfortunately people don't check other networks and believe the lies these tell them, plus they believe gossip stories. The politicians are afraid more non-politicians might take away their squishy jobs.
Melania is a great 1st Lady, but because she is so beautiful and a truly good person they are jealous and decide to be nasty to her. Have not seen any magazine putting her on the cover.
Bet biden and harris won't donate their pay to charties.
Thank you for sticking up for our great President.
    May God bless-------------Jan

What happened at the Capital 1/6/21 was a travesty!
    Horrible!
    Should never have happened-
    And may I say Anywhere.
(I wish there never had been a March.
I worried about violence occurring from tag along militant groups.
I have to wonder that even if there had not been a march, would Antifa still have shown up.
I know loss of lives would not hold them back - maybe welcome it)

My deep concern is that most it was an ORGANIZED effort to stop the exposure to all Americans and the Senate and Congress!
Our maybe last chance to bring Trump’s victory)
This was also the Left’s last chance to stop the show of fraud.

*It just did Not make sense for our seemingly Last chance to be heard-
For Trump supporters to stop it!!

    So-
Biden and all the rest of Swamp have gotten away with a corrupt fraudulent election!!

  • Dick Algire

    01/07/2021 04:28 PM

What happened yesterday was certainly not we expected of Trump supporters but neither was it any where near the violence produced by Anitfa and BLM where businesses were burned, people attacked and beaten, some being murdered, including members of police departments. All of those actions in Minneapolis, Portland and other cities were truly riots and we had the media and the Democrats falsely calling it 'peaceful protests.' Many in the media and Democrats said this type of behavior was 'necessary' saying there should be uprisings everywhere. There is a spiritual force behind all of this national upheaval and being an ordained minister I am waiting for you to expose it but that hasn't happened as yet. We, in the United States are in a war, the apostle Paul telling us : "Put on the complete armor of God, " so that we could stand against the tactics of the Devil. Because out fight "is not against blood and flesh; but against the sovereignties, against the powers, against the commanders of the darkness of this world, against the spirits of wickedness in the heavens." The Republicans cannot save us. We best pray that God intervenes. He is our only hope.

I have said for the last year people have had enough of the congressional idiocy called the House of Representative and the Senate. There will be a hot civil war if the leaders of this country don't start thinking of the people and not their petty problems. There should be more than two political parties that way no party would have an advantage.

Gov. Huckabee, I agree totally with your comments. My heart grieves for President Trump, our Republican Party and all folks who believe in truth. I believe that the Democrats, knowing the Trump supporters would be there on January 6, planned for the Proud Boys, Antifa and any other gangs, to come and interfere with the Trump supporters!! I don’t know to what degree they planned to interfere with Trump supporters, but we certainly know now. “The devil comes as a thief in the night” and he did...as we now know. I pray that God will bring this truth to light as well as the voter fraud for all Americans and the world to see. Keep the “truth” coming Gov. Huckabee because the media certainly won’t do it. God bless you and our beloved America. ????

I believe that the group Antifa was involved in the mayhem on January 6. Why would Republicans that went to Washington for some real results to the fraud in the November elections disrupt the proceedings. Americans are angry at the hypocrisy of the news media, Democrats and lot of Republicans. I believe that President Trump loves this country and its' people. The fight was not for him but about preserving our freedoms and everything good for America. I could say a lot more but I know that the real Americans are fed up. Love you Donald Trump.

    Mike:
The damage has been irreparably done, the cows are out of the barn and our nation is headed for another civil war. I fear we will see even more rioting in the streets of our nation's largest cities between Trump and liberal supporters with a large dose of Antifa and BLM thrown in since their prime objective is to take down America any way they can. Sanity and love for your neighbor has been replaced with insanity and hatred for your neighbor. Jesus would be turning over in his grave if he still had one. So would all of our founding fathers in their graves.
I fear that America will never again be the land of the free and home of the brave when cowards have replaced them with mob rule. Only divine intervention will solve what ails us and Bible prophecy has already predicted thousands of years ago what is happening to our country and to the world. The Word needs to replace the world or else chaos and anarchy will prevail. Can the rise of the anti-christ be far off?

"They resorted to revolution only after exhausting every other alternative. They issued a statement of their rights and grievances and pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to defend it."

Mr. Huckabee, we are not even permitted to "issue a statement of our rights and grievances." We were not permitted to do so before January 6th, and having been unilaterally declared "domestic terrorists" by Biden and the Establishment as of this morning we most certainly will not be permitted to do so in the future.

Mr. Huckabee, our rights have been infringed. Through a long string of abuses and usurpations by unscrupulous political hacks and tin-pot dictators masquerading and duly elected public servants the "rights" of conservatives to speak freely within the general public, practice their religion publicly, gather in peaceable assembly to petition the government for redress of grievances, even the most sacred right to life - the right to live day to day free of fear over harassment, assaults and reprisals by the same baying mob of oligarchic technocratic Elites in power that with their legion of supporters would brand us terrorists - has been stripped away in increments over the past 30 years!

I have no fortune. Thirty years of fiscal mismanagement by both parties ensure that. But I would pledge my life and my sacred honor in a heartbeat to see EQUAL justice and EQUAL rights restored. You tell me what alternative remains, when peaceful redress and peaceful speech is verboten? None of what happened yesterday was truly about Donald J. Trump. What you are seeing is a people who have had enough of being ruled by a elitist coterie of shallow men and women who have only their own interests at heart. A people who are tired of being ruled by a Technocratic Oligarchy comprised of unelected and unchallengeable progressive ideologues wielding near-dictatorial power over the public square. No sane man wants violence. But when 75 million people are rendered "Untermensch" by 75 million other people, people proven over the last six months to have a proclivity for violence, and the government that ostensibly serves to secure the equal rights of both nods in agreement or cowers in fear, what is the alternative?

All the names that spewed from her venomous lips against anyone who spoke out against Obama or the unaffordable care act? Or Mr. Johnson standing on his car screaming to burn down Baltimore Maryland after his son died fighting a cop for his gun in a cop car. NANCY PELOSI needs to be charged with Treason for all the ballots in 244 counties in this country which had more votes than there were registered voters. this is horse hockey pucks and she should be in prison for her crimes against this Nation!!!

Good morning Mr. Huckabee. I am just sick this morning. The thought of my family, old and young as well as other american loving families, are going to live a life under a socialist government is heart wrenching :(. I'm sure you as a Christian, know what I'm talking about. The Democrats have just stolen my families hope for a bright future. I know millions of other Christian families feel the same. For those whom already have mental anxiety and looking to God for help are having even a bleaker outlook this morning. ??.I need to know how to cheer them up and tell them everything will be ok when I'm feeling like the rug has been pulled out from under me. My daughter (47) and grandkids ( 16 and 21) have said they are angry at God recently and my granddaughter has said she is taking a break from Him, ??and I've been praying for them. Now this. Im sorry I am rambling. I just don't know what to do. Please pray for my daughter and her family. Thank you so very much for everything you do. God bless you and your family. ????????????Of course our great President Trump and his family. May God spare them all of the evil the the Democrats have planned for them. May God bless them and keep them safe. God help us.
