After I said that if we formed a third party we’d never, ever win another presidential election, EVER, I received quite a few letters from readers who think differently. Here’s a typical one...

From Stephen R:

You say that you’re against a third party and that we’d never again win an election if that happens. I totally disagree! If we abandon the Republican Party in major numbers with the right candidate, I think we’d stand a better chance rather than having the same old s*** on the menu!

What chance will the Republicans have when most of us are totally fed up with the crap that we’ve listened to for years and nothing changing (excluding President Trump)! The rest of them are just filling a seat and going along with the Democrat BS! They talk a good line when in front of the cameras, but go along with the Dems behind closed doors and to hell with their constituents! What good will the Republican Party be when 2/3 of us will not vote for another Republican candidate? I’ll vote Democrat just to remove these spineless cowards that are in office trying to say that they have our backs!!! I’m done!!!!

From the Gov:

Thanks for writing, Stephen. Obviously, our party has reached a crossroads, and it’s critically important how we decide to go forward from this point. But if I may offer some “famous last words,” I can think of none more appropriate than what you just said: “I’ll vote Democrat just to remove these spineless cowards...”

Vote Democrat? With all due respect, Stephen, I have six words for you:

Are you out of your mind?

The reason we have such a disaster in the U.S. Senate now is that Georgia Republicans, fed up by the Nov. 3 outcome, refused to vote Republican, staying home on the day of the senatorial run-off elections and giving their state two of the most radical left-wing senators ever to be on the ballot, and that’s saying something. We know now that if they had come out for the Republican candidates in numbers comparable to their November 3 turnout, they would have kept the Senate out of the hands of radical leftists. Gosh, I hope all those fed-up conservative Georgia voters are happy now.

Let’s do some basic math. Right now, the two major parties, in terms of numbers, are pretty evenly split. If the 2/3 of Republicans who, as you say, are thoroughly fed up and refuse to vote for another Republican DO vote for a third party candidate instead, that will give the third party candidate a whopping 2/3 of what the anti-Democrat vote would have been otherwise. The Republican gets the other 1/3. These two parties will split about half the total vote.

But the Democrats get almost all of the other half, which means they WIN, as all they need is a plurality. Obviously, 1/3 of the Republican vote isn’t going to get us squat. But even 2/3 of that vote isn’t going to get us squat, either. One thing about Democrats: they do stick together. And if they stick together and we fragment, with no more than 2/3 of our vote going to any one candidate, guess which party wins?

That’s right, the Democrats, every time. Go to the head of the class.

When Democrat Party candidate Bill Clinton won in 1992, he got a whopping 43 percent of the popular vote. The other two major candidates, Republican incumbent George H. W. Bush and Independent Party candidate and Texas billionaire H. Ross Perot, essentially split the rest; that “giant sucking sound” you heard was Perot sucking up 19 percent of the vote (the most a third party candidate has ever received, but it translated into ZERO electoral votes). So victory went to Clinton, the Democrat. Some analysts said that Clinton would’ve beaten Bush anyway, but we don’t know about that. A huge number of conservative Republicans rejected a second Bush term and voted for Perot, giving us the Democrats.

Let’s go farther back in history, to when former President Teddy Roosevelt tried a comeback with a third party, the Bull Moose Party. In 1912, a group of Republicans dissatisfied with President William Howard Taft formed the Bull Moose Party specifically for TR to run again. (He supposedly had said he was “fit as a bull moose” to run again.) The Bull Moose Party was “progressive” for the time and favored such new-fangled ideas as women’s suffrage, direct election of U.S. senators, and various social reforms. Roosevelt ran on what he called the “Square Deal,” based on fair business competition and more welfare programs for the needy.

Anyway, his candidacy divided the Republican Party, and Democrat Woodrow Wilson easily won. Would you like to hear about Woodrow Wilson and his administration? That’s a topic for another day, but for now let’s just say it would have been much better if TR hadn’t divided the Republican Party and let Wilson and his pals glide into the Oval Office.

Things the left would love to see from us:

1) An uprising. In fact, the Capitol breach played into their hands so well that if it hadn’t happened, they would have had to create it; make of that statement what you will. The Capitol incident gave the left all the excuse they needed to label every one of us a “domestic terrorist” and start taking our rights away. As frustrated as you might be, DO NOT give them any more reason to do that. Believe me, they are just waiting for this.

2) A third party. The left would LOVE this. Aside from the reasons mentioned above, a third party is not going to have the “ground game” of the well-oiled machine that is the Democrat Party. All this will do is split the Republican Party vote and ensure Democrat victories time after time. I know many of you don’t want to hear this, but it’s the hard truth.

3) Giving up. Some conservatives are now saying the fight is over and we have lost. Why bother voting if the elections are rigged? Why bother tweeting if you’ll just be banned? Just stay home and wait for the end. But this would be a gift to the left. When you give up, they push even harder.

We have to fix our party, from the inside. We do have a few outstanding incumbents, but for the RINOS, we have to find solid, articulate conservative candidates for primary challenges. That’s what the “progressives” in the Democrat Party did, through organizations such as Justice Democrats, the group that recruited AOC. Democrats organize like mad, and if they aren’t satisfied with their incumbents, they challenge them. This is what we’re going to have to do with our own who fail to represent our views and values. Perhaps Trump could help with this. We must go into every race with the strongest ticket we can find, work like our freedom depends on it (because it does) and be assertive poll watchers!

But, again, the worst thing conservatives can do is split off and form a third party. Don’t even think about it!

I'm with Stephen and so are all the Republicans I know. We cannot vote republican anymore. We have all changes are party affiliation to independent . We don't have a two party system now. It's a one party system pretending to be two parties. I was with the NRSC for some years and none of the members liked the candidates . Everyone complained that the candidates did not match what the people wanted. They fit the narrative of the republican senate which is a democrat, so I quit. It's been this way for years and I think you are wrong governor Huckabee. You don't understand we are mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore. That is why Trump was elected in2016, because he was NOT a politician. Every Republican I know wants a new party. Out with the old, in with the new.

I have a question regarding a third party. Can anyone think of a Republican candidate that will take on the Democrats like Pres. Trump did or will we get another McCain or Romney? If the latter is true, the Democrats will get the vote. So, what does it matter. I venture to say in Georgia, they were probably discouraged more than anything else.

No reason to form a 3rd party! This one's pretty great. So the other side calls us names. Remember what we were taught as kids? "Sticks and Stones". I have been called many things, privileged white, racist ect. I just smile. Or say "okay" which always takes the wind from their sails. The other side just can't function past name calling rhetoric. So fun to watch them dissolve!

Thanks Gov Huckabee for your dedication, convictions and faith. I read, even copied your post from above to help with "scripting" for future videos. I know you lived through constitutional crisis, "July 15, 1996 / Capitol Crisis"... a "ground shaking experience" for both D's and R's. I am feeling confident that we are witnessing the 'Revealing" of two wings of the same bird... the Establish Captured R & D's. We voters have been SOLD is LIE by both parties and it is obvious to everyone that We the People have had enough. The person illustrated that well and your response was good. However, the "old paradigms" of politics (even traditional media, education, medicine, entertainment...) are over, GAME OVER. I am confident that by 2022 the Democrat party will likely will be gone... or on life support. The GOP has been Captured, which is obvious by Mitch, Mitt, Paul Ryan... and dozens on the national and local levels. Thus, an aShakening must occur.... and it is occurring, thus all the push back. Call it Deep State or Traitors vs Patriots. The corrupt pillars of the GOP must be taken down... or the GOP is history. And if not, then there will be only ONE PARTY... it will be not start with either letters D or R. If America goes down, so goes the world. The political games and leaders.... "emperor has no clothes"!. It is an exciting time. We all can begin to agree to the PROBLEM... now comes WE the PEOPLE to be the Solution, the change we want to see in the world. Create a desired destiny, verses accept an engineered fate.

    Governor.
You are absolutely correct. We have to challenge wimpy republicans with strong candidates and work hard in all areas of the district to win. We must push back hard against the lying left wing democrats. Years ago I thought the same thing and voted for Jimmy Carter. I learned my lesson, because I was fed up with wimpy republicans is no reason to make things worse and vote for a socialist or even a communist.

I agree with you, Governor. A third party spinning off from the Republicans would be disastrous. I was one of those people who voted for Ross Perot and have regretted throwing my vote away ever since.

I understand and even agree with your arguments against a 3rd Party, however, the country is not the same as with Clinton, Rossevelt times were. There was never such an oppression of the working class people, the hate, the deceit, trickery and violent payback from one party towards another. There are many dems who do not want what the party is pushing for, many dems lost their jobs with the stoke of the pen just like Rep. I think the reason they killed the Pipeline and will continue to kill all energy in this country is that they do not believe any of "their" people had any of those good paying jobs and they were killing off only Trump supporters. A third party led by the man who showed America what she can be, and was until the virus, could lead to victory because it would pull more than half from each party. That being said, he would be the only one who could do that as he has a proven record. Any other third party canidate would be as you said, just cause the split that would let the dems win. The man is right, that we are sick of the milk toast Rep that think politeness and contrition wins arguments. Only fighters, with backbones can suceed in this atmosphere. The dems hold together because they are fearful and bribed, many older than dirt and have absolutely no scruples, no patriotism and are occupying a seat of comfort and do nothing. Many of them have the radical children and grandchildren so they go along with the new socialist just as P. Trump listen to Ivanka and Jarrett on many issues facing young people today. Our government, as it is, does not work for legal American people so that leaves a major change that needs to take place which a successful third party might accomplish lead by a true American who gathered others around to put America first and back into the drivers seat. To bad the Republicans can't all be AOC with a brain and bound by the constitution, fighters and pulling in the same direction.

    Governor Huckabee,
I appreciate your analytical response to Stephen R. regarding a third-party. Your view seems to be consistent with other reviews that I read regarding a third-party. I believe the problem is deeper than what is acknowledged on the surface. And it’s not complex.
When any sports team is fractured and refuses to follow the coach or leadership, they will never become winners. That is the republican party today. As you mention about the Democrats, right or wrong they stick together. They exemplify a team. The Republicans don’t and therefore may face losing every time. So what will it take, to become a team? I personally don’t have an answer but I feel like it’s extremely important to try to figure it out. I don’t want to be on a losing forever, but that’s my felling at as a conservative.

    Eric

Your epistle on the damage of a third party is BS. It would pale in comparison to the damage being done and recently done by the Repubs. We need representation, not repair of a broken party. The Dems seem to represent their supporters but the Repubs have a bunch of tired, old, needy Rinos looking out for themselves. We need fresh consetvative blood. I dont support AOC, but i think she has the energy and insight of the newer generation. We need some of that for the God loving and God fearing people. You seem to want us to forever stay true to those who continue to wrong us. And im not talking philosophy - but results. The 4 years under Trump gained us nothing that Biden didnt undo in his first day. Repub Congress sat on their azz those 4 years and accomplished nothing. I realize your opinion is as freely given as mine, but yours is not for me.

Thank you Mike - this is not easy stuff. As a Navy veteran we do not want the Country to continue on this course. You got a guy writing these 'orders' left and right (he's nuts) (I met Joe in Basrah Iraq (MND-SE) while I was the site manager (2004/08 during the Brit Op-Telics)) - not too impressed Mike.. You have a VP probably devoid of any morality.....people are going to follow their orders?

Gonna' be a tough road going forward. I'm getting old. I want to know my three grand children will have a shot at a continued decent life. They're smart, honest, God -loving people Mike. I won't let anybody or anything hurt them if I can help it.

Have to stick with it and make things right again....I pray for a little extra time to be here to help (at this point I'm playin' with house money! you know.)

    Stay well Mike -

    Sincerely,

    Kevin Egan (aka Egan)

When Antifa and BLM were let into Congress by the police Jan. 6, Trump demonstrators should have followed and taken over ; throwing Democrats and RINOs in jail for treason !!!!! What good is it to fix the Republican party if the Democrats will steal every election ????

I AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAID!!! NOT VOTING AND SPLITTING THE PARTY PLAYS RIGHT IN THE DEMOCRATS HANDS!!! THEY WANT US TO GIVE UP!!! I WILL NEVER VOTE DEMOCRAT AGAIN! I DID FOR 50 YEARS!! WE NEED TO FIND NEW CANDIDATES WITH OUR VIEWS!!!

As a life-long GA voter, please do not lump all GA Republicans as those who stayed home on Jan. 5th and did not vote! I do not know one single conservative voter that refused to vote on that day! We knew we needed to get out and vote, so I have my doubts this is the reason why the results ended in both Democrats winning! ??

Why can we not be Republican Patriots and still be in the Republican party?. The Democrats are so proud of calling themselves Democrat Socilists. This way we still have 2 parties but we can see the difference between rinos and patriots.

  • Walter J Menke

    02/05/2021 12:30 PM

I am a conservative who is also fed up with rino republicans. I will do all I can to see new articulate conservatives run for office.
Meanwhile term limits are our only recourse to the rhinos on both sides. Convention of states! Was given to us by the framers of our constitution! It's time we used it.
    Thank you Walter

Well, Governor Huckabee, you did it again, and so effortlessly! I agree with you 100%, a change from my initially thinking that a "Patriots Party" would be perfect. However, as I researched the issue I learned what you explained so well.

I had an 'Aha' moment when I realized why President Trump invited Kevin McCarthy to Mar-a-Lago, after he betrayed him. Trump is so smart and knows that improving the GOP is the best course, and Kevin McCarthy is on board. It makes so much sense.

What is the best way(s) to get good candidates to run? Is there an honest scorecard database that we can check and see what our members of Congress are doing and how they're voting?

We have an awesome senator in Pennsylvania, Senator Doug Mastriano. He's excellent - intelligent, a veteran, a godly man, a truth seeker and teller. He held the voter fraud hearings in Gettysburg. I don't know if he wants to run but PA RINO U.S. Senator Pat Toomey isn't going to seek another term when his expires in 2022. Any suggestions? Thank you and God bless you!

P.S. May I vote for Sarah for Governor? According to how the Dems hold elections. Just kidding, of course. I believe in God and His Word, the Constitution, the rule of law, and doing what's right and just. I do love your daughter, though!

My husband and I talked about this the other day. Seems like it would be more effective if we revived the Tea Party movement, or something similar, and work from the ground up.

  • Mitch

    02/05/2021 12:27 PM

I totally agree with you, Governor. Even though it HAS happened in the past (Republican party and Lincoln), to start a new party at this time would be to walk into the Globalists' "divide and conquer" trap designed to destroy the U.S. We first need to fix the election process, or else it won't matter how many right-wing parties we have, since the Leftists in control will never again need a majority of legitimate votes to stay in power.

  • Steve Shoemaker

    02/05/2021 12:26 PM

Your explanation of the futility of a 3rd party is spot on! For someone to say he would vote for the "hypocrite" party because he doesn't like RINO'S, is beyond belief! As far as I'm concerned, Liz Cheney, Murkowski, Worthless Romney and the other 7 or 8 RINO'S currently in DC, will be taken care of by their appropriate state voters! A 3rd party will never work! Governor, please keep up the great work you are doing! As someone in the news says everyday: we Republicans "WILL CIRCLE BACK"!

I agree!! Conservatives need to stop thinking many Democrats think like we do. We try to be honest, fair and live by God’s Word. We need to realize they do not play fair, they will lie and cheat and we need to get one step ahead of them. They have a bag of tricks that they will pull from and add to it as needed.

    02/05/2021 12:25 PM

Mike, my wife Karen (John Brown graduate) and I love and respect you so much! Our problem is with hearing so many numbers being tossed around- even by you, about how, if more conservatives had turned out to vote the elections would have been different. We believe, as do MANY others, that the election(s) were stolen right in front of us- AND WE’RE TICKED! Now that the Democrats are in office how on earth is there ANY chance to have fair elections again in this country?? It seems to me that it will be so much easier for them to cheat in the future to stay in office. Where is my thinking faulty?

  • Michael Osborne

    02/05/2021 12:24 PM

Mike, regarding your comment about the No 3rd party! You’re right in many instances, BUT, what good is it when they, the crazy leftist, silence the newcomers? Look at Marjorie Greene, they shut her down and removed her from the committees she should have been on, and Ilan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Maxine Waters, and the others spew their dirty mouth and hatred, and NOTHING happens to them. NOTHING! So how can it be fair???? The left will just shut us down! So how do we punish them....we can’t even put people in that WE voted for because they get punished speaking against the evil left? We are fed up Mike! I just cancelled my party affiliation and I am no longer part of ANY party and was a Republican for many years. They, as you say, do not work for us, they’re fractured! God Bless!

I've been active in the Republican Party for over 20 years. A precinct committeeman and a delegate to 2 conventions.
After the vote to allow Liz Cheney to maintain her leadership position after voting to impeach our President, I am totally disgusted with the Party. What is the point of working to get Republicans elected if they allow this behavior from their ranks?
