Early this morning, Congress certified the Electoral College vote for Joe Biden for President. Afterward, President Trump issued a statement promising an orderly transition of power on January 20th, signaling to his supporters that his challenge to the vote is over.

Some Republicans still challenged the electoral vote certification, such as Rep. Matt Gaetz

But others who had planned to join the challenge, including Sens. Marsha Blackburn and Kelly Loeffler, changed their minds after the day’s tragic violence inside the Capitol building by a small group of “Trump supporters” (there are unconfirmed reports that some might have been false-flag Antifa agitators, but others were reportedly identified as part of far-right fringe movements that did not reflect the views of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters outside.) Nevertheless, after a year of telling us not to condemn all peaceful protesters because of the violent actions of a few, that’s precisely what Democrats and the media are doing.

Some on the right are comparing the people who broke into the Capitol to American Revolutionaries. But the Founders were not a mindless mob who committed violence with no longterm plan. They resorted to revolution only after exhausting every other alternative. They issued a statement of their rights and grievances and pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to defend it. They didn’t harm their own side by mindlessly smashing windows in the British Parliament. A later revolutionary protester, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., spoke his piece from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial; he didn’t vandalize it.

Let me be clear: I absolutely and unequivocally condemn the actions of the mob who smashed their way into the Capitol, just as I also call for an investigation of Capitol police who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt, a female Air Force veteran of 14 years.

Here’s more background on Babbitt and the shooting.

In Twitter comments, some people expressed sadness and dismay, but others coldly dismissed her as a traitor and a terrorist and good riddance (I’m sure the same people who are outraged over police brutality against leftist protesters.) It’s true that no one should have breached the barricades Antifa-style, shattered a window, entered the building and confronted security officers. It was a terrible thing. But why were they met with gunfire? I remember Democrats reacting with outrage at a Trump suggestion that looters be shot. In a tragic update, the DC Police have said that four people are now dead, although they didn’t release the causes, which are reportedly medical.

I am gratified to see that, at long last, Democrats are finally condemning mob violence. Only a few months ago, Washington, DC, and many other cities were ablaze; there were riots, arson, looting and assaults on federal buildings and monuments; and their response was to defend the mob and prosecute anyone who stood up to them. Nancy Pelosi infamously said she didn’t care about some old buildings. It’s suddenly a very different matter when one of those “old buildings” is the one with her office in it.

I’ll stress that pointing out the other side’s hypocrisy and Johnny-come-lately outrage is not an excuse. There is no excuse for breaking-and-entering and disrupting the constitutionally-mandated joint session of the House and Senate that was to certify (or not) the state electors. This was perhaps the ONE CHANCE before January 20 that Republicans would have to present their evidence of election fraud, unconstitutionality and error that might have shown Trump to be the actual winner in certain contested states. It’s something that needed to happen, calmly, openly, rationally. More investigation will be needed to determine why these people felt oddly compelled to disrupt this process and undermine the cause of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters outside.

And about Trump supporters: again, NOT AN EXCUSE, but let's look at how many of us feel right now. We’ve been treated like second-class citizens going on five years. In some professions, we can’t even hint at our political leanings. The blacklist against conservatives is as pervasive and powerful as the one used against leftists in the McCarthy era. The Ivy League elite have consistently condescended to us. On college campuses, conservatives risk being “canceled,” even dropped from academic programs because of some "problematic" tweet. The media try to gaslight us at every turn, repeatedly and with no evidence telling us that our President cares only for himself and is a traitor, an agent of Russia. We're tired of being told that 2+2=5. All the while, they bury stories about Hillary, the Bidens, and the partisan federal bureaucracy out to get Trump and anyone on his side.

It’s gotten worse since the election. The deep concerns of millions have been dismissed. Even in the face of wild statistical anomalies and numerous unexplained election-night oddities, questioning the results in any way is forbidden. “Why, this election was PERFECT!” we’re told. “It was the most secure election we have ever had in our history!” Good grief, we don’t have to be crazy conspiracy theorists to recognize these grandiose remarks as overstatements at the very least. Shakespeare might say that election officials “doth protest too much.”

We’ve seen blatant misreporting in the mainstream media, who prefer the false narrative that “courts have dismissed every one of the Trump lawsuits because, as we all know, there is no evidence.” In truth, the courts find other reasons, such as the inexplicable “lack of standing,” to keep from HAVING to look at any evidence. When the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, does this, what is the recourse?

About 70 million Americans suspect that the results of this election are not to be trusted. But these people have been shut down, silenced, and banned from social media or flagged as “misinformation” or “disputed” for daring even to question it. Even the President himself has been treated this way. If we have to sweep this under the rug, as Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) insist we do, we will never trust another election again.

So when media pundits say that challenging these election results is “interfering with democracy,” I say they’re off by 180 degrees. Under current conditions, challenging the election results is SAVING democracy. Stand back, let the Constitution do its work, and let the chips fall where they may.

The violence on Wednesday wasn't just completely unacceptable, it was downright stupid. It was stupid because the worst consequence --- not counting, of course, the loss of four lives --- is that the visuals of the Capitol being stormed will be exploited forever, used as justification to go full pedal-to-the-metal in quashing the rights of conservatives. Take away their civil liberties, leftists will cry; those people shouldn’t have any say! Why, those right-wing racists/sexists/homophobes/traitors don’t deserve a voice, a place in society, or even a way to make a living. Shun them! Cancel them! (And forget all the video of leftists smashing and burning cities from coast-to-coast.)

All of that was coming anyway, incrementally, if they gained power, but this event by a relatively small number of people hastens it.

For all those who are upset at the way the election was handled, and worried about the future of America under Democrat rule, join the club. But we’ve known for two months that any challenges to the November election were the longest of longshots. I defended Trump’s right to make those challenges legally and constitutionally, but it was never likely that Congress would reject electors that the states had certified.

Probably the best that we could hope for was that the challenges might result in what Ted Cruz called for (basically, what I called for just days after the election): an open, bipartisan investigation of alleged voting irregularities, so that if there was anything illegal it would come to light, and if not, Americans could be assured that the vote was trustworthy and Biden wouldn’t govern under a cloud of suspicion.

Now, thanks to the unforgivable actions of hotheads, even that hope has been dashed. Democrats may think they’ve pulled out a hat trick here: they’ve escaped an audit of the vote, Biden’s victory is certified, and Trump and all his supporters are permanently tarnished. But millions of Americans who feel their concerns have been dismissed and their voices silenced will not go away simply because the media try to shame them into it.

Our leaders had one chance to repair the tattered fabric of trust in elections that enables a nation of 320 million people of very different views to accept the results and move on, and they didn’t take it. I hope Joe Biden is sincere in his claim that he wants to be the President of all Americans, but sadly, that job just became far more difficult.

    Gov. Huckabee,
Thank you for all you do in keeping us informed with the truth. But, looking at all the videos circulating, it’s strange that these people waltzed into the capital without a lot of police obstruction. Could it be these actors were bought and paid for???

We have lost our Country! Yesterday the very people who were elected to protect us, sold us out to communism. The Senators who said that they would stand up for the integrity of our Elections and then backed down "due to rioting" are complete cowards and used that occurrence to get out of something they did not want to do in the first place. They sold this Country out. We have no more chance of integrity of any election in the future and now that the criminals have taken over every branch of our Government, we never will get any integrity back. Our Constitution is flushed, Biden and his merry puppet masters will implement their Socialist/Marxist agenda as demanded by BLM and ANTIFA, who they employed yesterday to cause all the disruption. I believe more then ever before that this is a coup and the players are in far greater number then we could have ever imagined. Donald Trump is the best President we have had since Lincoln. This is a fact! Everything he did, he did for the people, not to scratch any elites back. Trump did what was right for America and he did it for FREE! He is the only politician I know who lost money being a politician and did it with a smile because he truly believes in America. I am outraged at our Federal Legislature! They abandoned us and it is sickening. It is evil to the core and as far as I am concerned yesterday all the people who turned against Donald Trump sold their souls to the devil himself.

I have always flown the American flag day and night. On January 20, I will take it down and only have a black cloth strip hanging from the staff. After that, I will fly the Christian flag only until communism is flushed from Washington D.C. and our country. USAF SMSgt Retired with 29 years of service fighting Communists.

I could not be more sad than I am today. I still believe that those hoodlums were paid by democrats and/or liberals to cause mayhem and chaos. It worked, they were successful. One woman gave the ultimate sacrifice. I want my mommy. :-(

I agree wholeheartedly with your viewpoints. Most of us only wanted to ensure that our vote was conducted fairly. We are told that there was some fraud, but not enough to overturn the election. That is the same as saying someone is a little bit pregnant. Either you are or you are not. If there is fraud it needs to be investigated.

The media of course will stamp their feet and claim this is a lawless mob, but we will not forget the actions of the 'peaceful' mobs, or their reaction to that. We will watch this country go into decline over the next two years with the hope we can retake Congress, and then eventually the Presidency again. Trump did amazing things for this country, but may have missed an opportunity to further his legacy and voice for change going forward.

A bus load of Antifa was spotted by a former FBI member and video on Victory Channel showed rioters chanting Antifa while pro Trumpers tried to dissuade them from entering the capitol. The plan was to stop the election fraud from being disclosed on TV, and it worked. I will never accept traitor Joe Biden as president, and continue to pray that God will give us a miracle prior to January 20th.

    Mike,

I just read this article about Biden being certified and I have one question. What does the violence from yesterday have anything to do with challenging an obvious rigged election like Blackburn and Loefler did? I mean it is still a rigged election no matter what else happens. I am disgusted and will probably quit voting and if I do vote I will never vote for a Republican incumbent. They may as well just run the elections like a reality show and change the saying from 'Every Vote Matters' to ' Vote Early, Vote Often' All of this just taught me that it is now acceptable in the eyes of the elected officials as well as the judiciary that cheating is OK. So I sure hope the Conservatives hire the best damn hackers money can buy for 2022 mid terms. You can't beat them join them that is my motto. Time to beat them at their own game as if we don't we will never win another election ever. OK I am going to go now and start to scout out a nice quiet area to live when I am homeless from not being able to pay for electric and heat when they implement their Climate Change nonsense. Very sad we LOST OUR COUNTRY YESTERDAY

Mr. Huckabee, I agree with everything you said. I am disgusted with the turn coats that tucked their tails between their legs & ran at the drop of a hat. I didn’t agree with President Trump a lot of the time but I know he did more for our America than any President I can remember. We voted for him twice & would have again. But I don’t see him ever being able to run again. Dear God please have mercy on us, is my prayer.

You are so right on many points, Gov. On my job, they have been calling Trump so many derogatory names, it sickens me. I'm a lone black conservative working around black liberal democrats, and all too often I feel like the wicked one because I support Trump. Personally and publicly, I will not accept Biden as my President, because of the way he attained the office. He is illegitimate, period. Yet as I sit again in political exile, I, and praying many others, will work on getting my act together, get more informed, and try to counter the evil lies of the left, to bring about some sense of truth. I need some solace, for real.

    >So now we have a new President- under CCP "influence" and at a level of prior dishonesty that renders him a criminal by any reasonable standard.
    >A Supreme Court that is unwilling to defend and/or support the US Constitution
    >A Democrat-borne "proven" and effective method of election fraud and ballot manipulation that will will be used in every election hereafter, hence a one-party future.
    > Gaslighting becomes a common practice and proven facts, affidavits and subpoenas can be ignored, disregarded and/or refused.
    Something to look forward to!
Serious prayer is needed to help all of us to deal with these abhorrent shortcomings that will become our "normal" government protocol, and it's frightening.

The Uni-party of traitors completed the steal in the wee hours of the morning, hidden away from the light of truth and decency. All of these despicable beings should be ashamed of what they have done to millions of decent, hard-working, law-abiding patriotic Americans who support our President, Donald J. Trump. We've been demonized, bullied, ignored and dismissed as kooks and 'cult" members. We've seen and heard how the media has relentlessly bashed and pounded our President with 95+% negative coverage for the last 5 years. We are 150% POSITIVE that our landslide victory was denied via massive fraud in the November 2020 election. Was it too much to ask of our legal and political system to at least investigate the evidence of illegal activity that the President's team uncovered? Now, as a final "slap-in-the-face," the Uni-party lectures us to "come together" to "heal the wounds" and seek "unity." Well, NOT a chance, buckos! You will reap what you have sown. You've unleashed a previously mild-mannered BEAST that will never go quietly into the dark night that you've forced upon this country. We no longer have free or fair elections, and we have lost our dream of a constitutional republic. When folks fall into the despair of feeling that they have nothing left to lose, all bets are off. The powder keg fuse has been lit. May the Lord have mercy on all of us...

Huckabee... Why are you like everyone else being distracted by the antifa violence... that's not the most important news. The most important news is the the election fraud that was brought on to the American public and now succeeded. Who cares really if commentators disavow violence. The election was stolen and everyone knows it. Is that somehow "old" news. That's the only injustice that we should be talking about until it's resolved.

Thanks for all you do and we support you in our prayers.

    Hi Governor,
I hope your day is going well. It's been a week to remember - and it's not over yet. ( the week, I mean - hopefully everything else that made it so memorable IS over )

Yesterday I commented that I couldn't honestly condemn the protestors that let themselves go berserk. Today, I'm finding that more of the words I learned growing up have been changed yet again and watered down. When I learned about the word 'condemn' it was an extreme word, not to be used lightly at all and it was used with phrases like "to death". Today, it no longer means the same thing.

Just like the word 'create'. When I learned the word, it, too, was special and extreme. Ordinary people didn't 'create' things. They built things or assembled them or wrote them. To 'create' something was a supernatural act that was accomplished by the Creator. I understand the word 'create' no longer is attached to anything much special.

That's too bad. If we don't have words that can be relied upon to exclaim extremes, we lose the effectiveness of our language.

Some people see conspiracies where there may be none, but some don't see them when they're all around.

Be well Governor, and thank you.

    Mike
    ( yet another one! :)

They had no plans on hearing the evidence or They would. Those were lip service excuses of traitors and cowards. McConnell and Pelosi made sure of that. BLM told Biden that they helped him get elected; they helped again yesterday. Funny that so many condemned yesterday, but said nothing ever about the BLM/ Anifa riots all summer. This is hypocrisy and won't just go away when no justice was given. No investigations. Most of these corrupt judges and Congress, including Pence showed they were compromised these last couple of months.

It is not our fault that a few radical people stormed the Capitol. Most of us are law-abiding, god-fearing individuals. So what can be done now? Steyn comment is interesting and true. So what can be done now? Based on what you are saying, we are doomed and need to put up with this?

Dear Mike: I just found you on youtube and an reinforced with your daily bible verse, thank you.
I am 77 and am heartbroken with what has transpired in Govt. Yes those protestors got into the demonstration and blackened the eyes of all attending. The fake news will have a heyday chopping us to bits. I an heartbroken for President Trump, a good man that has done an excellent job and now we face the undoing of it all at the behest of idiots like Pelosi and the rest. I repeat I am heartbroken.

We were told days ago that the National Guard was being called up because of the upcoming protestors so they could keep from what happened from happening, where were they? They showed up after the chaos! If you saw the video of some people walking calmly in between the ropes some taking pictures they were led in by security and told they were on a tour..then the antifa entered behind them and shoved past them and you saw the chaos start.. the first people realized what happened and they tried to take cover which they did behind a door, then antifa broke the window and the security shot at those huddled down by the door and shots fired, no one inside there had any guns! Pictures of those in the hallway with the police are the same pictures of them at the Arizona antifa protests, the ones with the paint on their faces and horns and the man in the chair in the house they are all antifa Trump supporters were all set up! I’m sorry to sound conspiratorial, but this was the only way to stop the evidence about exposing fraud in the election! Tell me I didn’t see what many of us saw & know that we were all set up?

We must be firm in our resolve to bring back integrity to our way of government- strongly support Ted Cruz's efforts for a bi partisan investigation into election corruption. But because we are a Republic, each State needs to address the same bi-partisan investigation, starting NOW if they havent already. This will only be fixed at state levels. It's too bad the Democrat "leaders" (I reserve that title for people of honesty and integrity, hence the quotations) will not recognize the legitimacy of the anger on the Right, and why President Trump got elected in the first place- a great many people are tired of the political power play and manipulations for wealth and power derived from their office at the expense of the population. Trump fights for the people, the Democrats for themselves, to the point if ridiculousness! I, for one, will keep praying to God for strength and direction. AMEN! And only AMEN! I will continue to use whatever language is appropriate: he, she, mother, father, sister brother, and I will not be censored for not being "woke". We need to address censorship in facebook and Twitter and the like ( I will never use them), and honesty in the media. Divine intervention is most needed right now! But until then, I will work to make my vote count for what I believe is right and good.

two days in a row you backed a false narrative. The storming of the capital didn't prevent a single objection from occurring. Instead your weak, pathetic, republican friends used it as an excuse to ignore their duty. Period! The violence was wrong but what other outcome was there? You can't tell 50% of the country to pound salt and expect them to keep taking it. Nothing that happened at the capital affected the outcome. That outcome was guaranteed by McConnell and Pelosi and every other traitor in the government since November 3rd and before.
