Comments on Biden's "townhall"

Thursday, President Biden took questions in a CNN “townhall.”

I use the quotation marks because CNN always seems to find a “town” that’s at least 90% Democrats. In this case, of the 12 people allowed to ask questions, only two were Republicans, and the first one didn’t get to speak until 20 minutes before it ended. Even one of the questioners identified as an “Independent” attacked Republicans and “rogue moderates” and asked why Biden didn’t just force through the Democrat agenda. Sounds like that person is an “Independent” like “Democratic socialists” are “Democrats.”

The biggest news points to come out of the evening were:

* Biden admitted he didn’t have the votes to pass his $3.5 trillion spending bill if it retained his hike in the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%.

* He said he was considering doing away with the Senate filibuster to pass the Democrats “voting rights” (i.e., “legalize vote fraud”) bill, but not for all bills, because that would lose him three votes for his $3.5 trillion spending bill. (Note: I don’t think “doing away with the filibuster” works that way. You’d think that someone who spent 370 years in the Senate would know that.)

* He said he was considering sending in the National Guard to ease the supply chain crisis. I guess that’s easier than reversing the liberal policies that are causing it, like the AB-5 law in California that banned independent contractor truckers. A national version of that is in his $3.5 trillion bill, if you want to know how serious he really is about fixing the supply chain crisis.

By the way, over 100 House Republicans signed a letter explaining why Biden’s $3.5 trillion porkulus bill would be a death blow to the supply chain.

* He said the US would defend Taiwan if China attacked it. China seemed really intimidated by that threat.

And why should they be, since they now seem to be outstripping us in military weapons development?

* And the quote that made the biggest news: Biden doubled down on threatening police officers and other emergency workers and first responders, saying that if they refuse to comply with his COVID vaccine mandate, they should stay home or be fired (the fact that this received “thunderous applause” from the audience should tell you the kind of audiences CNN assembles for these dog-and-pony shows.) He then ridiculed the very idea of Americans having the freedom of autonomy over their own bodies, mocking them by saying, “I have the freedom to kill you with my COVID. Come on.” (Still unanswered: the question of how unvaccinated people endanger vaccinated people if the vaccines work.) This also overlooks the fact that many of those people worked through the pandemic at great personal risk, and were likely already exposed to and recovered from COVID so they have natural immunity.

I have a feeling that Biden dismissing cops and first responders and mocking freedom will be a recurring theme in many 2022 campaign ads.

I couldn’t help wondering what people might be thinking who actually voted for Biden because he was sold to them as a moderate centrist who would return compromise and respect for other people’s views to the White House. Also, he hailed first responders as the heroes of the pandemic, vowed not to impose a government vaccine mandate, and even expressed reluctance himself to take any vaccine that was rushed to market under Donald Trump. Now, those first responder bums' lives can just be ruined if they’re skeptical of vaccines he sowed distrust in, and they resist the mandate he promised never to impose.

I’m leaving out the biggest news of the night: he got through it without dissolving into gibberish or wandering off stage. But it might have been better if he’d done either one of those things rather than say what he did about first responders. He might want to consider that if he plans to brutally enforce a vaccine mandate, it might be good not to alienate the police. The Democrats have done enough of that already by defunding police departments and legalizing crime.

This account comes directly from some fed-up cops speaking anonymously, so you can imagine how much loyalty they still have to liberal Democrats.

Prof. Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit has a good op-ed on police pushback against vaccine mandates, and how forcing officers to quit will result in them becoming private security so the wealthy will be safe while poor and minority neighborhoods will suffer (thanks again, Democrats!) One silver lining: the Democrats seem to want to impose a police state, but that’s going to be hard if the police are so furious they’d rather quit than obey Democrat policies.

Finally, it wasn’t as if the Biden Townhall didn’t have a healthy scoop of false claims and incoherence, which Nick Arama at Redstate.com chronicled:

CYBER NINJAS: Maricopa County misrepresents audit findings

The Cyber Ninjas have released a response to Maricopa County’s review of their 2020 forensic audit, and it’s scathing.

“Maricopa County continues to purposely mislead Arizonans and the American public about the nature of audit findings,” they said Wednesday, “and the impact they had on the 2020 General Election. Their response renames and redefines audit findings so the claim can be made that the findings are false, including logical sounding arguments that simply don’t add up, and is completely devoid of any supporting evidence.” The Ninjas go on to “refute their baseless claims with evidence and citations.”

They accuse Maricopa County of relying on “bogus fact checks on their website and from the fake news media to ‘debunk’ many but not all claims by the Arizona Senate auditors.”

A link within the above link was supposed to take the reader to the full response from the Cyber Ninjas at SCRIBD, but when we tried it, that post had been removed. Still, one can still see a lot of excerpts at the link we’ve included. Rather than simply summarizing them here, I’m hoping you’ll go and read them all. The auditors are standing behind their work and will not accept Maricopa County’s response. They are not going quietly now that the audit is complete --- or as complete as it can be with the amount of information that was withheld from them.

“All evidence has been turned over to Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich,” they wrote, “and it now lies on him to investigate these crimes and save our Republic.” They also included a link to Brnovich’s office so that readers can get in touch and “demand a full criminal investigation with immediate arrests.”

Just to cite one huge problem that the Board of Supervisors has still failed to address: According to Cyber Ninjas, on March 3 –- just days before the voting machines were scheduled to be turned over to auditors –- someone with an administrative access password overwrote more than 37,000 entries, and “the act of executing these scripts had the effect of...ensuring that the Windows security logs covering the dates of the general election would not be available for review.”

Those files were not backed up, so legally they were supposed to have been “maintained intact” for a minimum of 22 months. As alleged in BLUE STATE CONSERVATIVE, “These deletions indicate deliberate destruction of evidence and violation of election law while the machines were in possession and control of the county supervisors.”

On Thursday, in a bulletin from his SAVE AMERICA PAC, former President Trump responded to the Ninjas' report, saying, “Look at what just happened in Arizona last night for the people that really won the Election, by a lot, us. The FORENSIC AUDITORS released a report that discredits all of the disinformation put out by the RINO Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.” Trump went on to detail some of the findings and also called for the state attorney general to investigate.

Trump said, “Maricopa County officials lied, and then tried to cover it up. Now they are facing criminal liability since defying a subpoena and deleting election records are serious crimes. Hopefully Attorney General Mark Brnovich will do something about it. Regardless, based on these findings, and many others, Arizona should decertify their Fake Election results immediately!”

Of course, most media outlets aren’t touching this. Liz Harrington, President Trump’s spokesperson, uses tweets to document the problems uncovered by Cyber Ninjas, and THE GATEWAY PUNDIT passed them along.

Attorney General Brnovich is currently running for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, so politics will almost surely play a role in his decision on how to proceed. One would think he’d be partial to a company with “ninjas” in their name, considering his own fighting skill with “nunchucks.”

But I digress. Trump will, of course, get a lot of grief for calling for the decertification of Arizona’s 2020 election results. As we have learned, it’s only wrong to cast doubt on an election when you’re a conservative Republican. If you’re, say, Stacey Abrams or Hillary Clinton, you can go on forever claiming you won. Stacey lost her race for Georgia governor in 2018 and has never conceded. Hillary lost her race for President of the United States ini 2016 and appeared to concede at first, but it didn't last long.

Because Hillary has a new book out –- purported (I am not joking) to be her “first work of fiction” –- she appeared with Abrams Wednesday evening in a promotional Zoom call and actually said she felt strongly that Abrams had “actually won” the 2018 race. My goodness, did Hillary just undermine the trust in “our democracy”?

Of course, with the Durham investigation gaining steam, we’re also learning more and more about how Hillary and her minions worked to establish and maintain the lie that Trump “colluded” with Russia to beat her in 2016. And during the vote tally in 2020, she advised Joe Biden not to concede UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Look at what she claimed about her own Presidential race in October of last year, right before the Trump-Biden election. “There was a widespread understanding that this election [in 2016] was not on the level,” she said.

But I don’t have to tell you that Republicans and Democrats are held to different standards and are expected to play by different rules. (Actually, Democrats don’t seem to have any rules at all.) The opening to Mollie Heminway’s new book about the 2020 election, RIGGED, looks at the way Democrats complained after Hillary’s loss (“The election was stolen from her!”) and how that all changed after Trump’s loss (“What a sore loser –- Biden really won!”) Suddenly it became horribly unpatriotic to point out very legitimate problems with the vote, the crazy statistical anomalies in battleground areas and all the easy-easy ways to cheat undetectably, thanks in large part to DNC attorney Marc Elias.

RIGGED is turning out to be every bit as good as expected. Highly recommended reading.

It’ll sure be interesting to see if Mark Brnovich looks further into the allegations made by the Cyber Ninjas. Good for them for not rolling over but responding like, well, ninjas –- in that they fight by using their intellect and intelligence-gathering ability. That’s just what we try to do here!
