AOC Pushes For Ministry Of Truth

After four years of hearing that Donald Trump is an authoritarian dictator and the biggest threat to freedom of the press ever – and hearing it from media outlets that attacked him publicly and relentlessly, with no fear of ever being censored, imprisoned or shot, like, you know, a dictator would have – there now is a serious threat to freedom of the press. And it’s coming from the media’s “progressive” darling and Vogue cover model, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The fascist fashionista and her “progressive” acolytes are pushing for the creation of a government Ministry of Truth to help “rein in” the press and combat “misinformation.” She said, “It’s one thing to have differentiating opinions but it’s another thing entirely to just say things that are false. So that’s something that we’re looking into.”

Of course, that presumes that in the realm of political opinion, you can make an objective judgement of what is “false” (of course, it’s always the ideas that whoever is in power disagrees with) and that comments she thinks are "false" aren't protected by the First Amendment.

I think that I can make a far better case than she can that most of what she believes in is false. We actually have a century’s worth of evidence that socialism inevitably leads to corruption, oppression and starvation. We can also judge whether leftist or conservative policies work better by just comparing how many people are moving from California to Texas to how many are going the other way. Even so, I would never tell her she’s not allowed to go on Twitter and spout uninformed nonsense about socialism. But I would like to retain the freedom to respond to it.

Read this New York Post article about this real threat to freedom of the press. And the Post should know, since their accurate scoop about Hunter Biden’s foreign money scandals was branded as fake news and blocked by social media and other news outlets seeking to influence the election – and it worked, as a poll found that up to 17% of Biden voters wouldn’t have supported him if they’d known some of the stories about him that were suppressed.

In a related story, watch the staff of Politico go absolutely bonkers at the news that conservative Ben Shapiro would guest-edit just one edition of its morning Playbook feature. Just as at the New York Times, they completely melt down at the prospect that someone who has a different viewpoint might be allowed to express it even once. “Tolerance, diversity and inclusion!”

This…Really Is CNN! CNN was forced to make an embarrassing correction after it reported that far-left Democrat Rep. Ted Lieu of California had “grabbed a crowbar” during last week’s violence at the Capitol. It summoned up an image of Lieu bravely rushing forth to do battle with the far-right hooligans. In fact, Lieu wasn’t on the House floor at the time, and what he grabbed from his office was not a crowbar but a “ProBar,” an organic, vegetarian energy bar, for a snack.

To be fair, that sounds like it would probably repel a far-right protester more effectively than a crowbar would.

Innocent Man Targeted By Leftists

This is a bone-chilling tale of how partisan political venom and the irresponsible nature of social media can combine to destroy the life of a completely innocent person.

After the violence last week at the Capitol, someone on social media thought they identified a person involved and spread his identity around the Internet. Despite having no evidence, others spread it all over Facebook and Twitter, adding their own condemnations. Except it wasn’t the right person. The man they mistakenly branded as a rightwing rioter is a retired firefighter who was in Chicago celebrating his wife’s birthday at the time. He’s not even on social media, so he wasn’t even aware that he was under attack until he started getting threatening phone calls from tolerant, nonviolent leftists. The Chicago Police had to station a squad car at his house to protect him and his family. And as of the posting of that story, the fake tweets and posts are still online.

I’d bet that every one of those ranting nitwits believes that President Trump should be arrested for inciting violent and insurrection. So by their own standards, shouldn’t every one of them be arrested for inciting threats of violence against the man they falsely accused? And if Twitter can permanently take down Trump’s account for relatively benign tweets they interpreted as inciting violence, why are these accounts that really did incite threats of violence still active? By not removing those tweets with their “dangerous misinformation,” isn’t Twitter itself complicit in inciting violence against an innocent person? And therefore, shouldn’t it remove itself from the Internet?

Unconfirmed Report

There’s an unconfirmed report that President Trump plans to declassify a large trove of Russiagate documents today. You remember the “Russia Collusion” hoax? That was the attempted coup against a duly-elected President that the Democrats approved of.

Again, the sourcing on this story isn’t too solid, but let’s hope it’s true. I also hope he declassifies a lot more documents that have been hidden from public view for too long before he leaves. These should have been made public before the election so that voters could be fully informed of what they were voting for.

It’s reported that some in Washington are lobbying Trump not to release the documents to protect “national security.” But I’d feel much more secure knowing that the people involved in this conspiracy to undermine democracy were exposed rather than be allowed to cover up their malfeasance and continue unconstitutionally abusing their power as soon as Trump is safely out the door.
