After I said that if we formed a third party we’d never, ever win another presidential election, EVER, I received quite a few letters from readers who think differently. Here’s a typical one...

From Stephen R:

You say that you’re against a third party and that we’d never again win an election if that happens. I totally disagree! If we abandon the Republican Party in major numbers with the right candidate, I think we’d stand a better chance rather than having the same old s*** on the menu!

What chance will the Republicans have when most of us are totally fed up with the crap that we’ve listened to for years and nothing changing (excluding President Trump)! The rest of them are just filling a seat and going along with the Democrat BS! They talk a good line when in front of the cameras, but go along with the Dems behind closed doors and to hell with their constituents! What good will the Republican Party be when 2/3 of us will not vote for another Republican candidate? I’ll vote Democrat just to remove these spineless cowards that are in office trying to say that they have our backs!!! I’m done!!!!

From the Gov:

Thanks for writing, Stephen. Obviously, our party has reached a crossroads, and it’s critically important how we decide to go forward from this point. But if I may offer some “famous last words,” I can think of none more appropriate than what you just said: “I’ll vote Democrat just to remove these spineless cowards...”

Vote Democrat? With all due respect, Stephen, I have six words for you:

Are you out of your mind?

The reason we have such a disaster in the U.S. Senate now is that Georgia Republicans, fed up by the Nov. 3 outcome, refused to vote Republican, staying home on the day of the senatorial run-off elections and giving their state two of the most radical left-wing senators ever to be on the ballot, and that’s saying something. We know now that if they had come out for the Republican candidates in numbers comparable to their November 3 turnout, they would have kept the Senate out of the hands of radical leftists. Gosh, I hope all those fed-up conservative Georgia voters are happy now.

Let’s do some basic math. Right now, the two major parties, in terms of numbers, are pretty evenly split. If the 2/3 of Republicans who, as you say, are thoroughly fed up and refuse to vote for another Republican DO vote for a third party candidate instead, that will give the third party candidate a whopping 2/3 of what the anti-Democrat vote would have been otherwise. The Republican gets the other 1/3. These two parties will split about half the total vote.

But the Democrats get almost all of the other half, which means they WIN, as all they need is a plurality. Obviously, 1/3 of the Republican vote isn’t going to get us squat. But even 2/3 of that vote isn’t going to get us squat, either. One thing about Democrats: they do stick together. And if they stick together and we fragment, with no more than 2/3 of our vote going to any one candidate, guess which party wins?

That’s right, the Democrats, every time. Go to the head of the class.

When Democrat Party candidate Bill Clinton won in 1992, he got a whopping 43 percent of the popular vote. The other two major candidates, Republican incumbent George H. W. Bush and Independent Party candidate and Texas billionaire H. Ross Perot, essentially split the rest; that “giant sucking sound” you heard was Perot sucking up 19 percent of the vote (the most a third party candidate has ever received, but it translated into ZERO electoral votes). So victory went to Clinton, the Democrat. Some analysts said that Clinton would’ve beaten Bush anyway, but we don’t know about that. A huge number of conservative Republicans rejected a second Bush term and voted for Perot, giving us the Democrats.

Let’s go farther back in history, to when former President Teddy Roosevelt tried a comeback with a third party, the Bull Moose Party. In 1912, a group of Republicans dissatisfied with President William Howard Taft formed the Bull Moose Party specifically for TR to run again. (He supposedly had said he was “fit as a bull moose” to run again.) The Bull Moose Party was “progressive” for the time and favored such new-fangled ideas as women’s suffrage, direct election of U.S. senators, and various social reforms. Roosevelt ran on what he called the “Square Deal,” based on fair business competition and more welfare programs for the needy.

Anyway, his candidacy divided the Republican Party, and Democrat Woodrow Wilson easily won. Would you like to hear about Woodrow Wilson and his administration? That’s a topic for another day, but for now let’s just say it would have been much better if TR hadn’t divided the Republican Party and let Wilson and his pals glide into the Oval Office.

Things the left would love to see from us:

1) An uprising. In fact, the Capitol breach played into their hands so well that if it hadn’t happened, they would have had to create it; make of that statement what you will. The Capitol incident gave the left all the excuse they needed to label every one of us a “domestic terrorist” and start taking our rights away. As frustrated as you might be, DO NOT give them any more reason to do that. Believe me, they are just waiting for this.

2) A third party. The left would LOVE this. Aside from the reasons mentioned above, a third party is not going to have the “ground game” of the well-oiled machine that is the Democrat Party. All this will do is split the Republican Party vote and ensure Democrat victories time after time. I know many of you don’t want to hear this, but it’s the hard truth.

3) Giving up. Some conservatives are now saying the fight is over and we have lost. Why bother voting if the elections are rigged? Why bother tweeting if you’ll just be banned? Just stay home and wait for the end. But this would be a gift to the left. When you give up, they push even harder.

We have to fix our party, from the inside. We do have a few outstanding incumbents, but for the RINOS, we have to find solid, articulate conservative candidates for primary challenges. That’s what the “progressives” in the Democrat Party did, through organizations such as Justice Democrats, the group that recruited AOC. Democrats organize like mad, and if they aren’t satisfied with their incumbents, they challenge them. This is what we’re going to have to do with our own who fail to represent our views and values. Perhaps Trump could help with this. We must go into every race with the strongest ticket we can find, work like our freedom depends on it (because it does) and be assertive poll watchers!

But, again, the worst thing conservatives can do is split off and form a third party. Don’t even think about it!

I understand why you believe a third party would be dangerous. I was wondering though- if it was truly moderate- would moderate Democrats who are embarrassed by their leaders also vote the 3rd party? Would it then have the majority?

I understand his frustration with the Republican party. I feel the American people do not have any representation from either party. One party seem to be going with the communism and the other party is just watching. I firmly believe that the voting system has been rigged by mailing out ballots to any and all, and allowing people who are with papers to vote. The riders on the bills are another problem that is changing the laws without people knowing what is within then bill. The Congress don't even read the bills???? then vote to pass it with out knowing what is in it. The more I learn about how we are not governed the more I am convinced we are governed by idiots and children.

Dear Mike and your thousands of followers, NO THIRD PARTY.
What we need to do is stick together and have good leaders.
I am starting a group under the slogan "Trump Crusaders" as part of the CaucusRoom. Te idea is to consolidate under one umbrella the efforts of all conservatives and present a unique front to the left groups as BLM (now a real business), Antifa, LGBT, etc under the leader of our beloved Donald Trump. This group to be always within the law and careful with the words to avoid any possibilities of being banned.
As part of the actions I am contacting key Senators to push for an idea that will minimize the possibility of fraud in the next elections.
    Thanks for your consideration.

Hello Mike - I have been struggling with thoughts of leaving the Republican party myself; my husband went unaffiliated several years ago, but I have remained in the Republican party because I wanted to have a say in who we ran in the general election.

Then we had a primary here in Utah between Mike Kennedy and Mitt Romney because neither candidate succeeded in getting the required threshold of votes in the state Republican convention, I voted for Kennedy because I did not trust Romney. Sadly, Romney won the primary, so guess who we were stuck with.

Frankly, I just wish The Rapture would come and all of us Christians would be out of here. Meanwhile, I will try not to give up on the Republican party and vote consistently for true conservatives because of what the party stands for (even if few of them live up to it).

I too believe splitting the party would be detrimental to our right sided outcome. But you are stating that Georgians stayed home and didn’t vote?? Don’t you think it was rigged and fraudulent results lije the election? Maybe the did come out to vote abd everything was just changed for the left . We will never feel like our vote counts if we don’t settle this. Please respond to this question honestly: do you think there was voter fraud ? Or do you think it’s all made up? Christians across this great land are confused... who is telling the truth?

Thank you and God Bless you!

Dear Gov. Huckabee, you are right with the math on why we should not have a third party and we have to "fix" the Republican party from the inside. The only question I have is "How"?
I think the 2/3 of the conservative Republicans can nominate a conservative candidate but I am afraid the other 1/3 will not support these candidates and will decide not to vote. This scenario may work for congressional candidates but I think we may not be able to win the presidency. I think the other 1/3 Republicans are "progressive" Republicans and they will either vote for a Democratic candidate rather than voting for a conservative Republican candidate or not vote at all. For example, there are a lot of Republicans support pro-choice, homosexual agenda, etc. and they will not vote for a conservative presidential candidate that would oppose those progressive issues. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Bravo Governor! I have had this same argument with many people. We now have a base to build on, and the need is for better candidates. I totally think this election was stolen, but we need to continue to vote!

I hope you know that President had nothing to do with Capitol "riot". The Capitol police escorted antifa and BLM in! They admitted it! You know the demonrats used that against President Trump. The left controls everything. If they really cared they would stop the current riots in WA, Portland, and Chicago. But they don't care. They are evil and controlled by Satan.

I agree Mr Huckabee we cannot split I sure hope President Trump promotes this as well . We do need to ban together and get out and vote in every single election. Somehow get strong men and women with great moral values who love this country and all the freedoms we enjoy . An example is your daughter who is not afraid to stand up to the media and all these crazy dems. Let’s pray like never before for 2022 and don’t let them silence us we are 70 million strong .

You are right, Governor. We must do our part in the primaries to eliminate the RINOs and then win in the general elections. More of us need to run for the local school board or become involved with the Republican party at the precinct level. RINOs get their start at the precinct level and conservatives need to start getting involved there in large numbers. If we do not, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

You are wrong about US "WE THE PEOPLE" causing jan 6th. The left already had it planned to use US. 3 white unmarked buses arrived with a police car, everyone who got off was dressed in black & headed toward the Capital. We were between Lincoln monument - washington monument. I'm guessing after 8:30 9am. We stood for hours watching jumbotron & then President Trump's speech.
Did u see video showing opening appearing in Rotundra lower portion & a person was handing out bats & bars? It was an INSIDE JOB.

You are right. No third party even though I was tempted to leave after 56 years as a Republican. The principles of the party I still believe in. We as voters have to remove these rinos & spineless members. I try &/vote for strong conservatives.

I completely agree with you. We need to come together and get organized. The problem I see is that we no longer have true freedom of speech. All those years the left was organizing, especially before social media, they were never shut down. In fact social media really accelerated their cause. We don't have that same luxury. We need to figure something out, some way to communicate without it being censored or "canceled".

Why won't the Republicans do something about the democrats? They are allowed to do or say whatever they want. Nothing happens to them! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! I also believe they 'created' the incident at the Capitol to frame President Trump! I am a Veteran. I know the Capital is more guarded then it was on that day. There should not have been a breach of the Capital at all!!

I agree that splitting the party is definitely the answer! However, we need to find ways of holding the GOP accountable for totally ignoring supporters. I was aghast when I herd the GOP majority of higherups voted to keep Cheyne in a position of so much power after she voted against her constituents, and worse yet; when 95% of her constituents tried to remove her!!!
I think this is part of the reason so many Republicans are so beyond disgusted with the Republican party!!! Our voices are being ignored!!!

I’m certainly not for a third party. That would make no sense. I am, however, very interested in changing the Republican Party’s name to the Patriot Party. I’m very fed up with the word Republican.

I am so fed up with the GOP lack of support and the rinos; I am going back to being an independent. I think the GOP has gone down hill since Bush the younger’s second term.

    Hi Gov.

I have followed you for a long time. I still do, obviously. I agree with and understand everything you said in this edition, about the logic - or illogic - behind forming a third party. However, there is one thing that is not being addressed by anyone, and that is voting your conscience.

Let's say I had to vote in favor of abortion in order to see something else positive get done. I couldn't do it. I understand the ramifications of that, but my conscience would not allow me to do that.

I guess I'm what people call a single-issue voter. I am anti-abortion, except in the case of the life of the mother, in which case all bets are off. I don't know what I would do in that case, let alone advise or judge anyone else for their decision. I'm going to stand before God one day and give account for my actions. And if He asked me why I voted for a candidate that supported abortion, I don't think I could look Him in the eye and say, "because I thought (the economy, etc.) was more important."

There's a time to vote logically and wisely, and a time to vote your conscience. I sincerely hope I don't offend you here, but I voted for you though I didn't think you probably had a chance of winning, because I believed (and still do) you were the best man for the job. I also voted for Herman Cain for the same reason.

I think a whole, whole lot of Americans are about to start voting their conscience, and damn the torpedoes - I will sleep well.

Thanks for reading. feel free to use or edit this in anyway, if you would have need.

God bless you and lead you in all you do.

It is hard to see how the Republican Party can continue as is. Their failure to use every tool available to them to prove the election STEAL seems ,to me, to render them impotent in a tough fight! I am not opposed to a third party. I am not so sure we would not win! The question really is, will we ever have another true election! Have the socialist won, while republicans crossed all their legal ts and dotted the legal Is , careful to be correct, the election was stolen! This is so serious... maybe a third party is the answer! Go whichever way you feel right...you have millions waiting to follow! MAGA
