“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

I think the state legislatures should decide as electors as to elect the president!

    Mike,

I read your newsletter twice a day and I'm very disappointed with your statement. President Trump talking to his supporters told them to go home and not be violent. That's double the sterness the left or the media (I repeat myself) ever shows antifa or blm. Maybe you're unaware that photos of some alleged Trump supporters show obvious signs that they're antifa in disguise. Things like hammer and sickle tattoos and the like but the point is we don't know who they are yet. The media and now you label them all Trump supporters but never once was antifa or blm named Biden supporters. You always exercise restraint so please show some now. Tomorrow or when the facts are known you can rightly condemn violence. One more thing, the time for conservatives to accept the weak and feeble Republican party is past. For 30 years we've been told to swallow the lack of results from rinos who are no better than democrats. You've said it yourself, if this election isn't corrected there won't be an election that matters again. America will end under a Biden/Harris regime and now they stole the Senate. When will you support action? I pray with my children every night and I hope our Lord acts but I can't support more bologna calls to pressure the very people who failed to act now. Something needs done and I'm not sure what it is but it ain't diplomacy.

    Thank you Mike.

    Mr. Huckabee,
Help me, as a Christ follower to know what to do know. I am so discouraged by this election and the direction that our country is going in that I want to completely withdraw from the news media, I have deleted my Twitter and Facebook apps...I want to just stick my head in the proverbial sand and ignore everything that is happening and just concentrate on my life and my family and my Jesus.
What are we to do now?
    Sincerely!! Laureen

Is it true that Antifa was involved in the violence at the Capitol?

I am feeling so deflated. I see no way out of this terrible situation which will change our country for the worse... sadly, no possible hope for recovery.

I have to say I don’t get it
Why would we think storming the capital would be a good idea?

It’s just more ammunition for the left
And further divide this country which I believe is what they want
Jesus said in the olivet discourse that ethnos would be against ethnos, and a house divided cannot stand
If we are not in the end of days how much worse can this get. I’m praying this doesn’t turn into a civil war!
And for the LORD to revive us

Dear mr huckabee, I watched most of the rally and violence on you tube today and Dr Gina Loudon interviewed a woman at this event who said that some buses showed up with many people dressed pro Trump apparel and it is believed that these were antifa that had come to commit the violence we saw. Yes, it was terrible. But it’s also terrible for these congressman to be so quick to place the blame on Trump patriots. We’re not violent! Antifa is violent! BLM is violent! Enough with the smears on Trump supporters! We are Peace and Truth lovers. The left loves the lie and the hate.

We don't know for sure who is responsible for the violence. Why is the first assumption, it's Trump supporters?

  • Paula Spencer

I am sorry violence occurred! But I was proud of the peaceful protesters. Too bad people had to tarnish our rights as Americans to assemble and speak out!

I am so heartsick over what happened today. I agree why didn’t Trump condemn this more strongly. I personally don’t think it was very wise of him to encourage this March on DC. Yes they won the election with lying, cheating, fraud. I am so sick of all this. Now they will probably impeach him before he leaves office.

This should be a wake up call that the American people are passed and we are not going to be disregarded or canceled.

My President did as his peers did over the summer - the bare minimum. And before anyone says “yes, but he’s the President” for the love, for 4 years no one expected much from him in terms of “character”, so.........

    Dear Mr. Huckabee,
President Trump was from the beginning one man alone against the world and he enjoyed a lot of support from his fans. What has happened today in DC. was caused by Soros cum suis with busloads of Antifa thugs and he fell victim...so very sad, such a good man, Carla

    Four comments:
    1. The world is watching
    2. If social media isn't regulated, freedom of speech is gone forever.
    3. I'm never a fan of Nancy Pelosi, but seeing someone in her chair sickened me.

I feel Trump did nothing to help the conservative cause today. Unfortunately we will have at least 2 years of liberal control of our country. I pray that God is merciful to His wayward church who has compromised His word. I pray that the current events of our nation becomes a wake up call for Christians to stand on the truth of God's word and we busy peacefully spreading the truth of the hope that comes only through following our Lord and Savior, Christ.

The police let ANTIFA and BLM through the barricades, and THEY were the instigators of violence. President Trump has NOTHING to apologize for. It is appalling to see the blatant ELECTION FRAUD be allowed by spineless courts and Congress, including SCOTUS. I am ashamed of them all, and angry at them for betraying America. I think conservatives are now adopting the phrase the DemSocs were pushing this past year: NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!

How can Congress/Legislators go forward with ANY CERTIFICATION when their are so many AFFIDAVITS from hundreds of people who have sworn under oath their were inconsistencies with ballets along with last mi Ute voters rules being changed with going through state legislation procedures?!?
When more people voted in a state that is registered is common sense A PROBLEM!
Put certification aside & deal with what really happened November 3, 2020!

I agree with you Governor Huckabee that these thugs should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. However it has been suggested by some that they were not President Trump supporters but in fact Antifa plants. If this is a proven fact they must also be publicly identified by name and organization affiliation.

How do we know it was Trump supporters doing the mischief. It could have been Antifa dressed like Trump supporters but planted to cause problems that would be blamed on Trump protestors.

I am heartsick at the lawlessness and violence today at the capitol and particularly for the loss of life. However, being a bit of a conspiracy theorist I fear we have played into the hands of the left due to this stupid act. For now I am sure that the moral outrage which should have been the catalyst to force a full and fair look into the allegations of vote fraud will now be watered down and allowed to slip under the carpet. Whether we shot ourselves in the foot, or "operatives" made it look as if we did, the battle is likely lost. I am fearful for this country I love. With the "loss" of the Georgia Senate seats (and I'm sure that investigation of irregularities there will be promptly dismissed) we appear headed down a slippery slope we may never have a chance to climb back from. But the only positive I have today is the sure and certain knowledge that God is in control of the entire situation, and that even though I cannot see how this could be a good thing, His Word assures me that His plans for me are for good and not evil. May His Name be praised!

Some of those rioters were BLM & ANTIFA. There were pictures of one man who had a headdress of horns. Many tattoos. He was photographed at BLM riots.
