“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

I am in total agreement. I support President Trump but I do not support protests with violence. President Trump must demand the protesters that are causing fear, hate and destruction be removed and the protest must remain calm without violence. We in America do not storm out government buildings because we disagree. We support our government even when we disagree. Praying that the protesters stay safe and our government also.

First, I want to say that I’ve held you in high esteem for many years now. I am also aghast at the violence today, but maybe not for the same reasons. Was the young woman armed who was killed in the Capitol? If a police shooting of an unarmed woman like this happened in a Philadelphia protest that included damage to a federal building, there would be violence in the streets.

One death is a tragedy. Losing our Republic to theft is a statistic. Get your priorities straight.

If anyone needs to take some responsibility for the events that have transpired , it needs to be Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Bill Barr, Justice Roberts and several more. They made these people feel like their voices were not being heard . They did things the way we have always done and voted , however when faced with an obvious manipulated election , their voices were suppressed. The frustration came to a head and when provoked by outside factors , they snapped .

I fully believe when it comes to light, we will find that Antifa or a similar organization is behind today’s violence. Trump supporters are God loving, law enforcement supporters people. This is just not in our character. It is a sad day for our country.

Who was responsible for the violence? Antifa? BLM? if yes, then today's violence was just a peaceful protest.

The protest wasn’t inexcusable. People have had enough of being lied to by politicians and the media. There was far less violence today than any number of Democrat sponsored riots and yet it was today that police shot someone, reportedly at 14 year Air Force veteran.

I’m tired of hearing the Capitol being called the “people’s house”. Mitch McConnell and Mike Pence don’t represent the people and neither do any of the other corrupt politicians who refuse to uphold the constitution.

Thank you. The election has been so difficult to swallow ... But there is a right and wrong way to handle it. Today was the wrong way

Have you investigated this mike? I’m disappointed that you are judging our patriots so quickly. Who are we to trust? Have you turned also? Are you aware of the antifa members there portraying as trump supporters? Must the right side always get the blame? I had many friends there who said they saw no trouble. Obviously, there was some but why didn’t my friends see any after 2-3 days? Is it bc the media videoed THEIR people.. the paid antifa and sent it to their news to broadcast?? This is so unfair and I’m so surprised that it is coming from you!
Mike Pence: couldn’t he at least tried?? Just put forth some kind of effort to show that he cared? I’m so surprised that you’re so quick to turn on our president making critical remarks. I’m sad. I feel like we’ve had our last true, honest election in America. I’m not a publicist so I’m able to voice my true opinions.

They should have arrested those that were being violent and do an in depth check into them via their social media ties and i'll bet a high percentage of them are Antifa members or supporters that were planted to give true Trump supporters a bad name !

I agree with you Mike. My mind is just reeling - knowing most of the people were peaceful but some let their anger get the best of them.
I don’t think the president should have spoke out against the Vice President - that was very unprofessional and disloyal. Franklin Graham is right - we need to pray for our nation

i also am unhappy about this turn of events regarding the capitol invasion.. as for pence.. his duty to God is greater than to the constitution .. how many tens of thousands of babies will die because of his foolishness.. as for violence.. will it be ok when they come for our guns? then it will be too late.. we should have stormed the capitols when abortion was legalized..with guns

How do we know there were not Left people starting all this? The Republican party left President Trump out to dry and deserted him when he needed them most. They have gifted the American people an agenda that will create chaos and tyranny in this country. God help us all!

Trump did condemn the violence and lawlessness!

We ARE the party of law and order!
However the left needs to realize the right feels like “no one is listening “. This is just too much with the lockdown & the election. People have had enough!!

So what should we do, Mike?

Courts won’t grant standing, state legislatures won’t act, and half of our party is more interested in preserving positions of personal power than in standing firm in defense of the Constitution and the will of the people.

While America is stolen, you suggest we stand by and let it happen?

While those who stole it now control 100% of the levers of power, you suggest we let them have it?

Our capital building was stormed by traitors long before January 6th, are they right that we’ll do nothing about it?

It appears Khrushchev was right, and the protesters today were wrong. That is not our capital building any longer. Someone else owns it, and we are left to wait until they come for us.

The saddest day of my life.
    RIP USA: 7/4/76 - 1/6/2020

Hello Mike, thanks for covering this event and appearing to give Trump supporters the benefit of the doubt. I was at the capital. Because we were cold, tired and hungry after 2 days, Trump supporters were optimistic about the count and proud to be matching but lacking energy. The group covered the young, old and everyone in between. We were having a good time, but the atmosphere did not carry a sense of revenge and outright anarchy. With Alex Jones and The Women for Trump leadership, the day before was lead with prayers, praise music and preaching. It felt like a family with old friends we had never met before- such kindred-ship with laughing and talking politics. What happened on Capital Hill was NOT of this group of Trump supporters. We believe in following the rule of law. With eye witness testimony and video clips of activities with police prior to the “invasion,” I’m convinced this is a setup to make Trump supporters look bad and to finish off Trump. For instance, will we ever find out about the girl who was shot and killed? Not to be disrespectful, but I think she was part of the group of imposters. Anyway, it’s sad that once again, the media is using their influence to create a narrative. Our hearts are heavy but we won’t give up. Thank you for all you do, Kristie Stith

I’m very angry with all the blame right now. What happened today was wrong. But the same thing happened all summer and that was called protests. It wasn’t all over the news with every news organization condemning BLM and Antifa for burning, looting, destroying city, rioting and murders. Yet this happens today and these people and Trump are monsters. It’s just pushing us good people further away. At this point I don’t plan on voting in another election and I don’t trust anyone in Washington. All they are doing is selling our country to the highest bidder. No one cares about us. We’re on our own.

The media has been suppressing our speech for months and before that it was the PC crowd. They call us names and tell us we don't matter. They play their games and we are the losers.

It saddens me that Trump supporters are blamed for all the violence today at the Capitol. Until there is investigation to know “who they are” no one should be blamed. I’m not condoning any of what was done, but me as a conservative supporter of Trump am offended to be blamed in the accusations leveled. I’m saddened and will continue to pray for revival of all right values my beloved America is known for.

We condemned it because private property was destroyed with zero arrest or incarcerations.
Now a young lady has lost her life. She was in a place she paid for with her tax dollars. So tell her parents she was worse than BaLM and ANTIFA.

Is easy to say it was a Trump supporters. Please change your tittle to protesters or rioters. And where was Biden or Harris when rioters were burning our cities and killing our cops or tearing down our statues?
