“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

There is a video of the police letting the protestors through the barricades. There is also documentation of Antifa members being told to dress up as Trump supporters. I think it was all staged. Also, something about Pence I don't trust...I'm a feeler and have a bad ones about him!

I disagree. Rare, but it has happened. I am a Trump supporter, because We need a Border protected before we can arrange an option for the Illegal residents that are already here. (see:cart before Horse..). I like that we did not enter any more foreign wars for 4 years, and the V.A. has improved to the point of Vets actually respecting the service. I appreciate bringing jobs from overseas, so our own citizens have an opportunity. I appreciate stock values rising to allow large companies to expand employment and benefits. I appreciate a reduction in ridiculous regulations that hinder growth for entrepreneurs. Trump has held a Rally Monthly, if not Weekly, for four years. Thousands attend with no violence(except from outside agitators). There was no reason for him to expect Deplorables to do the things that I AM SURE were instigated, once again, by outside influence. That would have been the story I expected from you. That would make me proud to support you. I honestly think that is the kind of story your daughter would have dug in and proven. Thanks anyway. You gave me slight hope through this four years of hell that Potus had to endure.

Four years of lies from MSM Democrats and Rhinos About this President and his supporters. Months of burning , looting, attacks on civilians and police. No incarceration, arrests and release . Attempted coup against our President from our intelligence agencies, false impeachment, A virus unleashed to the world with impunity to the WHO who released false information. Our CDC not accountable for all the bad information we were given. A President who accomplished more in his four years that many years of many Presidents. All accomplished under extraordinary pressure. To be ended with the most obvious fraudulent and incompetent election. I can’t believe our President has remained as guarded as he has.

Abs Here we go again. The democrats didn’t even condemn the rioting, they said it was mostly peaceful. Not one democrat called for peace. Now this is the most horrible event anyone has ever seen.

WE DO EVERYTHING PEACEFULLY. So I say this was mostly peaceful. It’s time for these representatives to shut the hell up and correct what they already know is wrong and if after all the years in DC. they don’t know how to fix it , GET OUT.

I am truly heartsick tonight. The actions of these few out of the 1.2 million supposedly there, they do not represent us. I feel they did more harm than good. I don’t see how Pres. Trump can overcome this & win now, dems and other “republicans” will, in my lowly opinion, do everything to see him defeated & Biden put in office. Unless something huge comes to light. Just a sad day. I’m worried about our future. I also know that it is ALL in Gods hands. He will never leave nor forsake us, none of this came as a surprise to Him.

Thank you Governor for your comments. I have been behind the President since he came down that escalator but I am appalled and ashamed of his tepid response to the violence today. When I watched him address the rally this morning my first thought was he just encouraged a riot. I fear for our country right now especially in light of losing the Senate which regrettably I also feel President Trump mishandled. I did not always agree with him but never once did I doubt his love for our country or question his leadership. Now I find myself in that unfortunate position.
I pray we find our way back from this and sincerely hope you will continue to be the voice of reason for us all.
    Thank you

Freedom and liberty are forged from violence. Read your history books Mr. Huckabee. Who killed the unarmed young woman? Why aren’t you pursuing this? Mike Pence is a communist traitor.

Whoever was involved in this attack at the Capital, whether physically, financially or through conspiracy, must be held accountable, whichever way their political winds blows. At the same time, information to clarify the election, as well as corruption in which taxpayers paid victims because of despicable acts of politicians, MUST BE REVEALED! Taxpayers are funding so much through politicians who seek their own agenda once in office, and refusE to listen to their constituents.

It was a disappointment I thought that Mike Pence had a plan. Antifa members could have dressed as Trump Supporters that is the problem with protesters you have too many “paid players”. Who do you believe? Who do you trust? It was a mess and it probably is not over . However I put this blame also on us ! Patriotic law abiding people who believe in Jesus Christ who have been too “docile “ too quiet, too slow to voice our opinion and too slow to react. We have lived our lives thinking it will blow over , this will go away . However we were wrong our Pastors were wrong and now it maybe too late! Our voice should be heard ! Truth must be found for our freedom is at stake.

    Hi Governor Huckabee,
I can’t help at being appalled by the way the media has treated the coverage of today’s protests versus the Antifa/BLM protests earlier this year. Let’s be clear, violent protests often, if not always, are counter productive to the end goal. However, by the MSM measuring stick these were truly mostly peaceful protests when compared to the Antifa/BLM protests earlier this year.

All due respect Mr. Huckabee, but those were not Trump supporters. Antifa had said several social media venues that they were going to dress like Trump supporters and cause issues. Really look at these people. This is their perception of what we Trump supporters look like. Who had the most to gain from this. Break up the biggest peaceful protest for Trump and Arizona had just been contested and senate and house were breaking to chambers. We finally had a chance for our proof to be seen and heard. We don’t cut our own throats. We are of law and order! So please do not chastise us now. We still need to be heard. Use your marvelous ability to sift through the garbage and see what that disruption was really intended and by whom. Don’t give up now please.

I am beyond speechless when I think of how many Americans choose to be blind to what the Democratic party has perpetrated on it's citizens. It angers me that there is such a drastic double standard set in place where rioting and looting is OK when done by leftists, but a peaceful protest by right wingers is considered terroristic. It saddens me to think that the America that I grew up in is becoming a mere shadow in my memories. And I'm fearful for my grandchildren having to grow up in what America has become. I pray that God will bring all of the corruption to light in the eyes of those who are presently mocking the truth that is staring them in the face, and that He will heal this nation. Thank you, Mike for your posts. It seems that you are only one of few who still holds to the truth and will speak it for those who will listen. God Bless You.

Violence is never the answer, of that we can agree. I appreciate your thoughtful, informed opinions about the state of our country right now. Do you see any peaceful way forward? I just cannot. We have taken the high road, as we always do and it has led us here. We do not allow criminals to go to jail without evidence. How can we trust in a system that doesn't allow for evidence to be heard? How can we continue to have faith in a legal system based on a Constitution that can be misconstrued at any given moment when it suits the purpose. The only way to bring the people together is to have an election that is followed by the letter of the law, without caveats. The media and big tech must take ownership in what they have done the last 4 years. I lay this unrest at their feet. Our country will no longer be what it once was and I felt this in March, I could feel it in the air. I knew President Trump would win but also knew the other side would not allow it again. Being in outside sales and from Oklahoma, I listen and I can honestly say that this has been simmering for a long time and if half of the country is not reassured by a valid election without so many questions this is only the beginning. Even before Trump people were just exhausted. I am a young widow, having lost my husband to brain cancer nearly 2 years ago and I am truly scared about our future. My youngest son is about to go off to college and this is not the world I want for him.

Thank you Mr Huckabee for stating this. It is one thing to be defeated by unreliable election results, and we are defeated by members of our own party. They have done so much more harm than good. I understand the frustration of combatting the democrats & liberals and their tactics, but this, this is not acceptable. The Bible calls for us to follow the laws set by our government. I wish I could remember at this moment which scripture it is.
Thank you for being our voice.

Dear Mike, I certainly don't condone the violence that occurred today. I will be anxious to see if the violent protestors were in fact Trump followers. This is out of character for Trump followers. That being said, I would like someone to tell us Trump voters how do we get closure with this election when there has been no investigation of the voting irregularities. Without this I don't see the 74million voters Trump had to ever have confidence in election integrity again.

So we are expected, yet again, to peacefully accept the stolen election and the coming Communist takeover.

At what point, Mike, will it be acceptable for us to stand up and fight back?!

Will it still be too soon to fight when they are imprisoning us for straight/white/conservative/Christian??

Will it still be too soon when they come for our guns?

Will it be too soon when they come for our children?

Exactly when will be the right time for We The People to say NO MORE?!

You, Sir, can afford communism. Most of us cannot. And will not.

I just saw a post that showed the guy that was sitting in the White House chamber with horns on his head was the same guy in a picture at an Antifa/BLM protest in Arizona in June of this past year. The claim and picture was posted on Twitter under @igorbobic.

PLEASE don’t point anymore fingers at President Trump or any Good/solid intention person Mr. Huckabee. You are a believer- your purpose right now is to encourage people toward Christ sir. Don’t add to the pitting that Trump or any others are doing. Pray for President Trump. Please and pray for all of us Bible Believers - we are going to be called up in a twinkle of an eye. Praying for you and your awesome family!!
Lord Jesus, please help Mike Huckabee and his family remain steadfast and focused on you and protect them and all of us and help them to encourage others to do the same- to seek You for direction wholeheartedly - this is all in Your hands God. Thank you in advance that you have our best interest. Time for great awakening of souls, thank you for this and Your help God. In Jesus Name AMEN!! Mike, read Psalm 2 and be encouraged. What a mess! I doubt that young woman that died had a clue of the danger she was in. Just caught up in the moment unfortunately. I was listening to Hannity on the Patriot channel when this went down. The spin from people on Fox and others was way too obvious. So sad. As was being said before the intrusion we as common citizens must educate our neighbors and children in our own neighborhoods about our history and socialism. At age 66 I am close to retirement but feel the need to get involved. Any suggestions? This old former successful trucking company owner is not ready to hang up his cowboy hat just yet.

I really don’t know what to comment. I’m so disgusted with our joke of a government. No bad words, no name calling, but I can’t believe our country is being overrun and no one can do a thing about it. I am not for violence, but my how so many I have respected (including you) are quick to point fingers. It appears that those who supposedly were in our president’s corner, were only there while it brought them notoriety and probably some money in their pockets. Sad to see you cross the aisle. I am still in prayer for our country and my President.

I believe the vast majority were not violent. Who benefitted from this violence? Those who hoped to draw attention away from a potential healing opportunity. If they do indeed identify the instigators, I’ll bet some paid people steered the crowd. A sad day. They certainly were easier to disperse than the “peaceful protesters” who burned and looted this past year. Unity comes from listening and acknowledging concerns.
