This weekend marks 21 years since Islamic radical terrorists flew airplanes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and would have flown a 4th plane into the Capitol or White House except that passengers on that plane wrestled the controls away from the hijackers and the plane went down in Shanksville, PA. 3000 innocent people were murdered in the space of a few minutes in a cowardly attack that shook the nation more powerfully than anything since Pearl Harbor. One of the reasons the events of that day are seared into the deepest recesses of our souls is that we saw it play out on live television. Some of the images, especially of desperate people jumping from the Towers to escape the fireball of the airliners exploding or the soot-covered people in business attire stumbling away from the collapsing buildings are images we can’t unsee.

We all remember exactly where we were that day and what we were doing when we saw the planes hit. Like the JFK assassination for those of us old enough to remember it, or the Challenger explosion, there are moments in our lives where an event so stunned us that time seemed to stand still and we had to catch our breath from the sheer shock of what our eyes had told us.

In the hours, days, and weeks following 9-11, America was united like I had never witnessed. Flags flew everywhere—on office buildings, residences, and cars. And no one took a knee. Members of Congress from both parties stood together on the Capitol steps and sang a hymn. Churches were filled with people praying. Young men and women put aside their studies or their lives to enlist in the military. America was at war. And we were united.

Here’s what didn’t happen. People didn’t divide among lines of race, gender, political party, or sexual identity. No sane person blamed America or systemic racism or white rage. If we really were a racist, imperialistic, evil country, surely we would have been told that by members of Congress. But we weren’t told that. Because we weren’t an evil country. And let me tell you, we aren’t an evil country now. Imperfect? Sure, but still the best place on God’s green earth.

We’ve allowed America-hating academics and outright Marxists to tell us we’re all racists. We’ve had frightened CEO’s down on their knees apologizing to total strangers for some symbolic repentance of sins they can’t even recall or name. And we’ve watched otherwise responsible corporate boards pretend to be “woke” and demand their employees get instruction in some nutty nonsense called Critical Race Theory that only serves to divide people when there is so much to unite us as people blessed by God to live in a nation where color isn’t what we’re about—character is. That’s the beautiful message from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and it’s never been more needed.

9-11 was a slap in our face and it was a rude awakening to the real evil in our world. An ideology that hates America, hates freedom, hates equality for women or people of color is the ideology that attacked us. It remains a threat to our freedom and our way of life. Ultimately, the battle we faced then and the one we still face now is a spiritual battle. Will the Judeo-Christian framework we were built upon remain our foundation, or will we surrender to a fanatic world-view that believes women are property who don’t deserve an education or identity and that killing innocent people for a political cause is okay? Instead of apologizing for America, we ought to unapologetically affirm our love for America. And no better day to do that than a day which reminds us who we really are.

I Praise our Heavenly Boss, Lord & Awesome Savior, JESUS The Christ, Whom we both love and serve, for such clarity in your concepts on this article. As Isaiah 48:22 clearly states there is not any other way to say the truth in this matter. Thanks a lot. Blessings to you and yours. Pr. S. E. Silva.

Any religion or organization that uses God to justify rape, torture, and murder is a terrorist enterprise with no connection to God whatsoever. They are criminals. They worship, domination, subjugation and wealth. The illegally obtained socialist government now in control is one more example!

I love to read your emails, I am so upset with the way this country is going. I was around when 9-11 happened and I do remember being at work and my young daughter was in daycare I rushed to go get her even if it meant we were all going to die I wanted to be with her. You are right we all came together and nothing stood in our way of that, race, color, Christian or not it didn't matter we were Americans and we were together. I truly believe that this is part of the plan, if we are fighting about everything that is going on and we are divided we are missing the bigger picture that while we are yelling at one another our rights are being stripped away from us. All of this is heartbreaking and I cannot believe the media is helping to hide the real problems that are going on right in front of us. I just wanted to voice my opinion and tell you to please keep sending out facts that the average American can understand and your positive messages that go along with it.

Why is it that so few people acknowledge the sincerely held religious beliefs that so many of us have which prevent us from receiving the covid vaccines?
No one denies that each one of the current vaccines are linked to abortion at some point in their development. For us, that is an abomination.
Whether or not actual aborted fetal cells are in the vaccines is not the issue (though that's a bad enough issue). The point is that these vaccines originated with abortion, thus pharmaceutical companies are essentially profiting from abortion. To receive vaccines connected to that has the effect of condoning, sanctioning, and perpetuating the abortion industry.
Biden wants us to lose our jobs for refusing to take part in that. We are not ignorant of the threats of covid to our lives, but nor are we blind to the threats of evil to our souls. We are being forced to choose.

    Governor,
Thank you for your continued principled Christian approach in your commentary and advice to our nation. I have followed your columns daily and look forward to each as a centering influence in my thinking.
Questions which infuriate citizens like myself with "traditional (conservative)" views but are not ever addressed by the media: 1. Why, if we have immigration statutes on the books, can the President and party in power seemly ignore or violate those statutes by opening our southern border and, even more recently, allowing unvetted immigration from Afganistan? We are a nation of laws or are we not? Is no one capable of suing the Biden administration for ignoring those laws and putting a stop to their policy which seemingly exists only to change the voter base? 2. Given the apparent helplessness of the American public to change public policy except through their legal votes (which is under attack and will be further tested in the California recall of Gov. Newsome) , the only rational solution to our woes is to vote every incumbent member of Congress regardless of their party affixation out of office and replace them with term limited persons desiring to be servants of the people and not politicians. My Republican members of congress have been woefully docile on all these issues and, while not as feckless as the current administration in power, not much more effective in governing responsibly. The Democrat party is totally unreliable and clearly so far to the left as to be totally irrational Marxists.
I guess I am looking for some reassurance and hope for our country and a return to the righteous moral principals with which our Creator inspired our founding fathers to write our precious Constitution.

Thank you for your principled stand.

    Dejected and Frustrated,

    "Bill" Blanchard

I would say to 78 yr. Talk to your primary care dr. He will give you the advice taylored to what he knows about your health and if it is safe for you. And don’t delay having that conversation. Too many unvaccinated 78 yr olds have died.

Please quit using the term Marxist. Use the accurate label.... Communist! Marxist is too weak and generic. Communist is a word everyone understands and the Communist/Democrats need to be identified for exactly what and who they are!

I keep reading from you and others how miniscule adverse reactions to the covid vaccine are. The latest report from VAERS has reporting 70 deaths a day for at least a 30 day reporting period. There have been thousands of deaths reported and thousands more serious side affects. It is estimated only about 10% of people who have had side affects or a loved one die report to VAERS so the actual number of deaths and adverse reactions are more than likely much higher. Then there is the fact this vaccine was fast tracked and had little to no clinical trials. The bottom line is people who are getting vaccinated are the clinical trial. We won't know for several years what kind of if any serious side affects there will be in the future. This for a disease that has over a 98% recovery rate. People are being demonized who don't want the vaccine. They are being called stupid, by Biden and uninformed, when the reality is, those who don't want the vaccine are probably more well researched than those pushing it. There is a site called avoicefortruth which has a lot of information on vaccines and aborted fetal cells. Like most everything else we have been lied to. I would encourage you to read the white paper that is on the site. If you do read it, have tissues available. I was in tears as I tried to digest what I was reading.
