If Kamala Harris is the Democrats’ nominee, Donald Trump immediately let it be known that he will not be any easier on her than he was on Joe Biden,
I’m glad to see him remind the world that she was named Biden’s “Border Czar” and just look at those results. FYI, he’s incorrect in saying that she “never” visited the border. After a loooong delay, she did finally go to El Paso, 800 miles from the worst border crossing area. But coming within 800 miles of addressing a problem is still a better record than Joe had.
Here’s a good refresher course on Harris’ track record. All the problems Biden didn’t want to deal with he shuffled over to Harris, where nothing was ever done about them. As Eric Trump memorably noted, he put her in charge of AI, and she couldn’t even spell “AI.”
Another issue that will surely resurface is the reports of how difficult she is to work with, which has resulted in her having a staff turnover rate of nearly 92% over just three years.
Yet as predicted, Dem donors showered her with $81 million in 24 hours (“A fool and his money…” etc.) and the media immediately pivoted to hailing Biden as a courageous patriot for finally bending to reality and Harris as an exciting, talented, capable leader, with any criticism of her rooted in racism and sexism. The Federalist has some details.
Just a reminder: These are the exact same people who, up until the moment Biden crashed and burned at his disastrous presidential debate, were still telling us that Joe was a sharp-witted, vigorous leader who wore out his young staffers with his energy and mental brilliance. If these partisan hacks told me the sun was up at noon, I’d look out the window to double-check.
They’re also trying to paint this as the Republicans now having the “old, feeble” candidate against an energetic young Democrat. Really? Trump was nearly assassinated and five days later, gave a speech off-prompter that the same reporters whined was too long and was keeping them up past their bedtimes.
I’ve taken pains for months if not years to differentiate Biden’s mental problems from his age, noting that they are “age-related,” but not common to all older people. I even noted that Mel Brooks and Clint Eastwood were doing great work in their 90s, but Biden wasn’t. And if I had to pick someone I trusted to have the physical strength and energy and the mental acuity to be President, there’s no question I’d pick Trump over Harris, who exhibits Biden’s incoherence without the medical excuse. For the Dems or the media to try to make Trump's age an issue is just straight-up ageism.
But again, we’ll see if the Dems’ current Harrismania lasts after they see the immediate polls showing Harris doing as badly against Trump as Biden did, with some looking much worse. Their problem for them is that most Americans have memories that stretch back longer than 24 hours; they’ve watched Harris for nearly four years and are not impressed. She’s definitely burdened by what has been.
