“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Philippians 4:6
Giuliani update: Media lied, FBI spied...on both Rudy and Trump
By Mike Huckabee
Early reports on the raid at Rudy Giuliani’s residence and the confiscation of all his electronic devices said he’d been warned by the FBI that he’d been targeted by a “Russian intelligence influence operation.” This is not true, and the WASHINGTON POST, THE NEW YORK TIMES and NBC NEWS have retracted their reports about it.
It’s pretty funny at this point to watch the anti-Trump media all rush to paint any person related to the former President as connected somehow to Russia. It seems they ALWAYS do it. Apparently it’s the FBI’s M.O., their go-to fake scenario, and I really think it’s time they came up with a new schtick, something less predictable and more imaginative.
Question: If the FBI was truly concerned about Giuliani being targeted by Russians, why DIDN’T they give him a defensive briefing? The same could be said of then-FBI Director James Comey in his treatment of Trump.
The WASHINGTON POST reported this phony story first, but you know how the media act as a herd and just follow along. That seems to be what happened here.
Giuliani tweeted that WAPO and THE NEW YORK TIMES should reveal their sources and called the story defamatory.

In more Giuliani news, Jack Phillips of THE EPOCH TIMES reports that during Trump’s impeachment hearings in 2019, the FBI “surveilled chats” between Giuliani and Trump on the iCloud. (Translation: they SPIED ON them.) Giuliani’s attorney, Robert Costello, was told by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan that this took place.
“I can’t fathom that would be done to an ordinary citizen,” Giuliani said. “The President doesn’t have any more rights than anybody else, but he doesn’t have any less. To me, they just trashed the President of the United States like he has no constitutional rights.”
Rudy, don’t you get it? To the top tier of the FBI (and some staffers lower down), Trump HAS no constitutional rights. All the rules are out the window when it comes to him.
As for the raid, “They took documents that are privileged,” Rudy told Tucker Carlson on Friday, “and then they unilaterally decided what they could read and not read.”
“The prosecutors in the Justice Department spied on me,” he said. “These are tactics only known in a dictatorship --- where you seize a lawyer’s records in the middle of his representation.”
In case you don’t know, iCloud is the Apple-based (repeat, Apple-based) system that backs up emails, texts, photos, documents and more.
Speaking of President Trump’s constitutional rights, attorney and law professor Alan Dershowitz has weighed in on the raid on Giuliani’s home, and he says it violates the 4th Amendment.
He explained this just as Giuliani has, saying that this should have been done through subpoena, with a judge, not just a search warrant. A search warrant is issued when officials have reason to believe a subject would destroy evidence if the search were not carried out. But Giuliani had known he was being investigated for many months, so there was no reason to think he would destroy the evidence that he’d had in his possession all this time.
As you know, this warrant covered all communications devices on the premises, but the FBI refused to take three hard drives belonging to Hunter Biden, even when Giuliani offered them. They did NOT want those, even though the FBI is purportedly investigating Hunter.
As for Giuliani, any prosecution of him will be tainted, Dershowitz said, if agents obtain information that is covered by attorney-client privilege. (And of course they did.) He’s advising Giuliani’s attorneys pro bono and tells them “to move to get the material back, have the government subjected to subpoena analysis, and force anybody who goes over the material to be from outside the prosecutor’s office, such as a judge.”
I would think that horse is probably out of the barn and the door flapping in the wind.
Miranda Devine of the NEW YORK POST has a great, no-holds-barred opinion piece on what’s being done to Rudy. This trampling of his rights is especially egregious because he and his client, the President, were actively spied on –- in total disregard of either executive privilege or attorney-client privilege. And it sure appears that confiscating all of Giuliani’s electronics was done to shut him down for daring to look into Hunter Biden’s $83,000-a-month payments from a corrupt Ukrainian energy business while his father was Vice President. As Alan Dershowitz noted, we’re in serious banana republic territory here, folks.
They've gone so far, I can't imagine that the FBI has any credibility left. They have lost all trust. And for those on the left who think it's just great as long as your enemy is the one targeted, just wait till you're the one in the crosshairs. Believe me, if they have that kind of power, it'll happen.
I’ll leave you with Devine’s piece, because it’s a must-read.

RIP Oscar-Winning Actress Olympia Dukakis
By “Huckabee” pop culture guru Pat Reeder
Former co-stars are paying tribute to Oscar-winning character actress Olympia Dukakis, who died Saturday in New York City at 89 after months of declining health.
https://variety.com/2021/film/news/olympia-dukakis-dead-dies-oscar-winner-moonstruck-1234964478/
Dukakis was a heroine to late bloomers everywhere, and one of the few actresses over 50 (then 60, then 70, then 80) who continued getting great parts in youth-obsessed Hollywood. After many years as a working actress on stage and in minor film and TV roles, her unforgettable portrayal of Cher’s level-headed mother in 1987’s “Moonstruck” rocketed her overnight into an Academy Award-winning star at age 56.
She went on to many more hit movies, including “Steel Magnolias,” “Look Who’s Talking,” “Mr. Holland’s Opus” and “The Cemetery Club,” as well as TV roles that earned her three Emmy nominations. In between performances, she taught master classes to young actors. Her husband passed away in 2018. Rest in peace to them both, and our condolences to their family.
Finally, since this newsletter is largely about politics, I’ll answer the question a lot of people seem to be asking: Was Olympia Dukakis related to Michael Dukakis? Answer: Yes, their fathers were brothers, which made them cousins.
Pro-Veterans rally postponed at the last minute
By Mike Huckabee
For 34 years, the veterans’ group AMVETS has held its Memorial Day motorcycle rally (now called “Rolling To Remember”) in Washington, DC. And for 32 years, the Pentagon has let them use their parking lot as a staging area. But not this year.
The Pentagon denied parking permits to the group, claiming concern that a large gathering could spread the coronavirus. Officials say they look forward to working with AMVETS again in the future, maybe by Labor Day.
The event will likely go on, as AMVETS scrambles to find a new staging area. They say they’re trying not to criticize the Pentagon, but this doesn’t set well with a lot of vets. They pulled the plug at the last minute, after many other local organizations, including the police, fire department and National Parks Service, were all on board. DC is allowing indoor museums to reopen, but shutting down an outdoor motorcycle parade. Does that make sense? There’s also a suspicion that Biden Pentagon appointees are wary of letting a more conservative group rally in Washington after the slanderous accusation of all Trump supporters being violent insurrectionists.
I have a solution: just claim that instead of being a pro-veterans rally, it’s an anti-police protest. We know that DC Democrats are all in favor of those and that the coronavirus never spreads at anti-police protests, even if nobody’s wearing masks.
Sobering warning from former Obama adviser
By Mike Huckabee
Even former Obama economic advisor Steven Rattner, a fan of big spending on “progressive” programs, is getting nervous about the trillions of dollars President Biden wants to shower on massive bills stuffed full of leftist wishlist items.
https://www.westernjournal.com/former-obama-advisor-gives-democrats-sobering-warning/
In addition to concerns about debt and inflation, Rattner said he’s worried about the execution. He said the last “jobs plan” alone had 76 separate initiatives in it that have to be created and the potential for mistakes is high. He told MSNBC that if these programs don’t produce real results for people, “I think it will set back the cause of progressivism for several more decades” and Americans will start to see government as the enemy again. I think even he realizes that the only things leftists have the ability to run are their mouths and the money printing press.
As the story notes, Obama had an $840 billion stimulus package that enriched cronies like Solyndra but didn’t deliver on “shovel-ready” or “green” jobs. It helped give us Trump, who really did make the economy boom by unleashing the private sector instead of printing federal money. Lucky for Democrats, too many voters have short attention spans and listen to biased news. So here we go, once again trying a strategy that’s a proven failure.
It will be up to Joe Biden to insure that it’s not. He'd just better make sure he doesn’t put the same person in charge of policing all this new spending that Obama put in charge of overseeing his stimulus money. That person was…Joe Biden. Uh-oh.
