While Republicans on a House Judiciary subcommittee talked about the delays and evasions from the Biden Administration regarding the whereabouts of thousands of unaccompanied minors who crossed the border and disappeared into child sex and labor trafficking, all Democrat Eric Swalwell wanted to talk about was January 6^th, which he called “the greatest crime in American history.”

It wasn’t even the most violent or costly riot of that year, and his party seemed all in favor of every riot except that one. Well, then, was it the worst assault ever on the Capitol? Not unless he thinks it’s worse than the 1971 Weather Underground bombing of the Capitol that did $300,000 in damage, the 1983 bombing by the Armed Resistance Unit that did $250,000 in damage, the Puerto Rican activists who fired guns in the Capitol in 1954 and injured five congressmen, or the burning of the Capitol by British troops in the War of 1812 that resulted in a new Capitol being built where it stands now.

Personally, I think I could make a good case that the worst Capitol-related crime in US history was the election of Eric Swalwell.
