More On The Dominion Lawsuit

Here is some more commentary on that $1.3 billion libel suit Dominion voting machines filed against MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell for supposedly harming their reputation, and why it could blow up in Dominon’s faces (Lindell claims he’s glad they sued and has taken a “bring it on” attitude.)
Bottom line: as the provider of public election voting machines, Dominion is the very essence of a public figure, making it extremely hard to win a libel suit, even if they could prove actual malice, which is required. Interesting detail: author Fred Weinberg reports that while Dominion is seeking $1.3 billion in damages, the company’s revenue from government contracts from 2017-2019 was only $120 million. I would say that they must have a highly inflated sense of the value of their reputation, but I thought that was obvious already.
PS – Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz agrees that Dominion is not “going to get any pillows out of this” lawsuit.
Hiding Grandpa’s Car Keys

While the fawning media coverage of Joe Biden might make you think everyone believes he’s just the Bestest President Ever, those who know him personally seem to be acting a bit…nervous about having him in charge of so much power.
For instance, three dozen House Democrats are calling on him to relinquish his sole authority to launch nuclear weapons. They claim it’s just a general belief that no one person should have so much power, but the whispered rumor is that they really fear he’ll launch a nuclear strike on some kids who walk on his lawn.
Meanwhile, a federal judge in Texas has indefinitely extended his block on Biden’s order to halt all deportations. Maybe we should also make him relinquish his sole authority over that executive order pen.
California Democrats Might Be The Worst Kind Of Democrat

Under a $7.6 billion COVID-19 relief bill just approved by the California state legislature, while the state’s small businesses are still shuttered and suffering, $600 stimulus checks will be given to illegal immigrants.
In a related story, California Democrats are circling the wagons and preparing to pull every dirty trick and rule change in their arsenal to block voters from being able to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom.
More On The Democrat Attempt To Ban Conservative Media

Because this threat to free speech needs to be shouted from the rooftops, here’s more on the letter sent by California Reps. Jerry McNerny and Anna Eschoo to major TV carriers, implicitly threatening them with Congressional action if they didn’t deplatform conservative news sites such as Fox, OANN and Newsmax that air what they consider “misinformation.”
This makes the case that because the letter was sent on Congressional letterhead under their official capacity as Congress members, it’s a violation of the First Amendment. As I pointed out in my original comment on this, Congress members have to take an oath of office to support and defend the Constitution, but these two are abusing that power to attack the First Amendment. Since Nancy Pelosi is so impeachment-happy, I demand that she launch impeachment hearings against these two. For once, she actually has solid legal grounds, and unlike the last target of one of her impeachments, these two, unfortunately, are still in office.
New Study Of Misinformation Points To Distorted View Of Reality

Speaking of “disinformation” and “misinformation” and where it really comes from, a new study by Skeptic magazine found that the liberal media’s coverage of race and police shootings has given many Americans a completely distorted view of reality.
Respondents were asked to estimate the number of unarmed blacks killed by police in 2019. 44% of liberals guessed that it was over 1,000, compared to 20% of conservatives. In actuality, 13 unarmed blacks were killed by police in 2019.
Of course, any deaths are tragic, and while we don’t know the circumstances of these 13 killings, they should be thoroughly investigated to make sure police misconduct, racial attitudes or incompetence aren’t endangering public safety. But this study suggests that media misconduct, racial attitudes and incompetence are fueling a defund-the-police movement that’s endangering public safety, too. Shouldn’t we hold our media to the same standards of responsibility that we do our cops?
