1. "Huckabee" Preview

2. Debt Ceiling Politics

I hope you’re having a great Saturday and enjoy a fun and safe weekend. And please join me in thanking God that we’re allive. I was assured that if the Republicans didn’t raise the debt ceiling on Friday, the world was going to end, so the very fact that we’re still here at all is a miracle worth celebrating, don’t you think?
Personally, I don’t feel like compiling a recap of all the nonsense from the left about how Republicans are arsonists and terrorists and Nazis for not wanting to keep spending the country into oblivion. Just take my word for it that if anything is emitting a dangerous level of gas, it’s not your stove, it’s them. But I’ll share a few links to stories that feature something about this that’s actually worth reading.
This first one includes President Biden’s comments about the debt ceiling (he refuses to negotiate with House Republicans, obviously forgetting which branch of government is actually supposed to be in charge of spending.) He also repeats his laughable claim that he’s already cut the deficit by over a trillion dollars, which even the Washington Post called a “shell game” because he was comparing his huge deficit to the historically gargantuan deficits run during the pandemic. We also learn that his only stated “solutions” are, as always, to tax billionaires or cut Social Security for seniors who are barely surviving his inflation. As I noted yesterday, we already have record tax revenues thanks to Trump's LOWER rates, but it’s still not coming in as fast as he can spend it.

That story also includes Donald Trump’s advice to Congressional Republicans: don’t fall for cutting Medicare and Social Security to “help pay for Joe Biden’s reckless spending spree.” Instead, cut “hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars going to corrupt foreign countries,” stop “the mass releases of illegal aliens that are depleting our social safety net and destroying our country,” end radical gender programs in the military and stop reckless funding of “climate change extremism.” Sounds like a good start.

3. A slime pit of misinformation
We were told that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation. We were also assured that Joe Biden knew nothing whatsoever about his son’s shady business deals with foreign entities in places like China and Ukraine.
Well, we know what happened to that first claim about the laptop. And now that even liberal media outlets have admitted that it’s real, look at what the Daily Mail found on it (don’t worry, it’s safe to look at.)
We’ve also now learned – surprisingly, from the New York Times – which Democrat apparatchiks were responsible for hiding the Biden classified documents story from the voters until well after the election and dribbling it out slowly. One of them was the PR genius who thought up the pejorative “Ultra MAGA” for Joe to try to scare us with.
I’m not going to spend my weekend doing a deep dive into this slime pit, but rest assured, there will be in-depth commentary on it coming very soon.
4. Here’s the least surprising news of the day

Merrick Garland’s DOJ wrote a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, pledging its willingness to cooperate in good faith with any investigations. It then announced that it will not cooperate with investigations of any ongoing DOJ investigations, or even confirm or deny their existence.
That would leave virtually nothing to investigate except what the word “cooperate” means to the DOJ. I have a feeling their definition is different from mine.
Well, thanks to their prosecution and imprisonment of Trump supporters for not cooperating with the January 6th Kangaroo Kommittee’s subpoenas, the House Republicans at least know what to do about their refusal to cooperate.
5. The new "1/6 Day" Bill
Three Democrat politicians in Pennsylvania are pushing a state law to force schoolchildren to observe a day commemorating the January 6th Capitol riot.

One of them declared that their “1/6 Day” bill "is about embracing truth and being a country that is actively engaged in fighting systems of oppression. This moment demands reconciliation with a clear-eyed and honest assessment of what it will take to get back on the path toward atonement and healing that we so desperately need."
I think most of the school kids would reply, “That’s okay, we’re good.”
Also, the January 6th rioters thought they were actively engaged in fighting systems of oppression, too. And if these Dems reply that they were wrong, violent riots are not a legitimate form of protest, then we can ask why most of the BLM and Antifa rioters who spent much of 2020 burning and looting our cities and attacking police were immediately released without charges.
Come to think of it, I will agree with them that January 6th should be taught in schools, as long as we throw in the real history of all the other violent riots during that period. Somehow, I doubt they’ll agree to that.
6. Happy birthday, Dolly
It’s no secret that I love Dolly Parton. So please join me in wishing her a happy 77th birthday (if you can believe that!) And for her birthday, she decided to give her fans a gift: she released a new song, and I think my readers will really appreciate the subject matter.
