When former President Trump and President Biden let the question of which was more fit for office at their debate devolve into an argument over who was the best golfer, I thought it wasn’t exactly relatable to most viewers, but at least Biden was being coherent -- that is, if you knew the handicap that he kept mentioning referred to golf. But leave it to Trump to turn it into something cool and exciting.

During a rally in Florida, Trump challenged Biden to an 18-hole golf match at his Doral Blue Monster golf course. Trump said it’s “one of the great courses of the world," and "It will be among the most-watched sporting events in history. Maybe bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters.”

Trump went on, “And I will even give Joe Biden 10 strokes a side. Ten strokes, that's a lot. That means 20 strokes, in case you don't play golf. And if he wins, I will give the charity of his choice, any charity of his choice, $1 million. And I'll bet you he doesn't take the offer."

Once again, Trump was right. A spokesperson for Biden responded to Trump’s challenge by saying that Biden doesn't “have time for Donald Trump’s weird antics.” Translation: “You expect Joe Biden to walk an 18-hole golf course?! Have you seen how long it takes him to walk 15 feet to a podium?! We should indict Trump for trying to kill the President!”

Considering that Biden has time to quit work by 4 p.m. every day and spend every weekend on a Delaware beach, I think that translation makes more sense than the claim that he doesn’t have time to play a round of golf. Sorry, Biden’s favorite charity! No chance at a million dollars for you!

Come to think of it, maybe we should let a golf match determine the winner of the presidency. We’d find out who’s really fit, and it would be harder to cheat.
