A lot of us felt the bile rising listening to that stunningly arrogant flapdoodle. I think Brandon Morse at Redstate.com had a good response to it.

Greg Gutfeld, who is hardly what you’d call a stupid person, also roasted Couric, quipping that this shows why televising her colonoscopy was the highlight of her journalism career.
But unlike Katie, I don’t like ascribing the worst motives to people whose politics I disagree with. I may just be a simple, Trump-votin’ hillbilly, but I reckons that maybe I oughta take the high road. I will assume that she’s not stupid, just ignorant. And as Will Rogers said, “Everybody’s ignorant, just on different subjects.” Unfortunately, Katie happens to be completely ignorant of the thoughts, lives and concerns of tens of millions of people who are supposedly her audience.
This is understandable when you realize how much of her life has been spent in a cast iron bubble. She was born in Arlington, Virginia, a suburb of DC, the daughter of a major newspaper editor, and has spent virtually all of her life in NYC-LA-DC elite media circles. Online estimates are that her net worth after years of reading other people’s words off of teleprompters is around $110 million. Chances are she has no concept of what it’s like to be a working person living under Biden and having to make the hard choice between meat on the table, gas in the car or paying rent this month.
She reminds me of an interview I saw with Broadway composer Steven Sondheim, where he admitted that if you didn’t count Central Park, he’d lived nearly all of his life in a wealthy, 20-block area of Manhattan. (Yes, Katie, a conservative from Arkansas actually knows Steven Sondheim! Sorry to rock your world like that.)
I feel as if the kindest thing I could do for Katie would be to send her a copy of my book, “God, Guns, Grits and Gravy.”

It came out before Donald Trump even came down that famous escalator to enter politics. The premise of the book is that America’s political and media elites (that’s you, Katie!) live in an impenetrable echo chamber, so cut off from the rest of the nation that they view most of America contemptuously as “flyover country.” Since they so seldom venture out of their bubbles to talk to anyone with different views (whatever happened to "diversity?"), they arrogantly assume that their Ivy League degrees mean they’re super smart (that delusion has certainly been shattered lately) rather than that their parents donated a gym, and that there’s a connection between making a lot of money and having some valuable skill or knowledge (that can be true or not: look at Joy Reid.)
In my book, I tried to warn that being so out of touch with the reality of most of the nation meant that they could neither see nor understand what their own viewers were thinking or dealing with. Our media and political elites were like Marie Antoinnette suggesting that peasants with no bread should just eat cake instead. Working Americans are not dumb rubes, they are the people who make America run, and they were fed up to their eyeballs with what conservative blogmaster and law professor Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit (I assume you don’t read it, Katie) calls, “The worst political class ever.” You know, the ones who all think they’re Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius, but who have given us a $34 trillion debt, crumbling infrastructure, an open border, COVID and COVID lockdowns, wars breaking out all over, and I could go on and on.
Trump supporters are not dumb, jealous, resentful, racist cult followers. Far from it. They voted for Trump because he actually listened to their concerns and had enough money that he couldn’t be bought. Trump was the message they sent to Washington. Trying to silence or destroy him only tells Americans that, apparently, the message wasn’t loud enough.
Just forward a mailing address, Katie, and I’ll be happy to provide you with a copy of my book, so you can learn the truth about the other half of America and not be so disgustingly condescending (wow, a Trump supporter using four-syllable words!) I am charitably assuming that despite being a Biden-supporting liberal, you can read.
