California tragedy
Our prayers and condolences as well to the family of former NASCAR driver Bobby East, who was stabbed to death last week when he stopped at a gas station in Westminster, California, in northern Orange County.

When a SWAT team tried to issue a search/arrest warrant for suspect Trent William Millsap, he reportedly attacked them and was shot dead. No officers were harmed, but a police dog was injured. Millsap was a transient on parole for armed robbery with a warrant issued for a parole violation. He also was suspected of injuring a second man at the gas station.
This tragedy has thrown more fuel on the fire for Californians fed up with leftist officials and their ideas of “justice reform” that include cutting the police force, emptying the jails and repeatedly releasing criminals back onto the streets.
Which brings us to this very welcome news…
When voters in the most liberal city in America, San Francisco, turned out en masse to kick out their criminal-loving “progressive” D.A. Chesa Boudin, I warned not to expect that he’d be replaced with someone that San Francisco really needed to clean up the crime wave he’d created, like maybe Dirty Harry Callahan. It’s still a town being run into the ground by leftists, and his replacement would be appointed by Mayor London Breed, so pray that it would reflect any improvement.
Well, the new District Attorney is Brooke Jenkins, and while she might not be telling crooks to “make my day,” she seems to be on the right track, judging by how leftists are howling in outrage. She started her tenure by assuring Asian-Americans who’ve been the victims of rising hate crimes that she’ll crack down on crime and pursue aggressive prosecutions, and to prove it, she fired 15 people from the Boudin regime.
Just days after President Biden signed an agreement with Israel to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons, Iran openly boasted that it already has the capability to produce nuclear weapons, it just hasn’t decided yet whether to do it. I’ll let you figure out just how much of that statement is true. I’m leaning toward “first claim true, second claim not.”

If the first part is true, then it shows exactly what everyone with a brain has suspected for years: Iran never complied with any of the alleged limits on enriching Uranium that Obama and Biden claimed they would follow under their misbegotten nuclear deal. The very fact that they would make such a statement, tweaking the nose of the US President while he was still in the Middle East, shows that they have zero fear of his threats.
Either Iran has the capability to build nuclear weapons, or they’re close to it and there’s nothing to stop them. Either way, that bold statement shows that the world is now a more dangerous place than it was before Biden took office.
Funny how the self-appointed defenders of “our democracy” are always so terrified of the public getting what it voted for, if it isn’t them. And they voted in huge margins to eject the criminal-coddling DA and his disastrous policies. Maybe people didn’t shift to the right so much as they got tired of dodging right and left to avoid needles and human feces as they were fleeing deranged homeless people, drug addicts and armed robbers.
Leftists may be crying over those firings, but I imagine many San Franciscans see it differently, as liberal as they are (or I hope, “once were” – if a conservative is a liberal who got mugged, San Francisco ought to be full of ultra-conservatives by now.) To me, those 15 firings remind me of an old joke: “What do you call a thousand lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? ‘A good start.’”

The Latest Developments in the News
When I first started doing commentary on the news, it was a pretty straightforward job. Now, it’s like being a TV critic who has to explain all the plot twists on an insane new series that’s a mash-up of “Twin Peaks” and “The Twilight Zone.” So here are the latest developments, and it’s feeling more and more like a show that’s written by putting 100 monkeys at 100 typewriters.
Some actual female swimmers are brave enough to speak out against the University of Pennsylvania nominating biological male “Lia” Thomas for the NCAA “Woman of the Year.”
New Jersey prison officials reluctantly caved to reality and removed a “trans woman” inmate from a women’s prison after “she” impregnated two real women there. Sorry, didn’t mean to offend anyone by making transphobic assumptions. Maybe the people “she” impregnated were men.
The California Senate approved a bill to legalize the use of psychedelic drugs, like LSD, hallucinogenic mushrooms, Ecstasy and mescaline. Funny, just from looking at the California Senate, I assumed psychedelic drugs were already legal in California.

It’s not just Jefferson being trashed as a slave-owning racist villain by the docents at his own home, now James Madison is getting the same treatment.
Northern Arizona University is now requiring students to take at least FOUR “diversity” classes before they can graduate.
Since they’re so gung-ho for diversity, I have a suggestion for them: require students to take at least half of their classes from conservative professors. What, you say you don’t have nearly enough conservative professors to cover that? Do you have any at all? Sounds as if NAU’s administrators are the ones who need to take a diversity class.
Uncomfortable truth
The truth being too uncomfortable for some people, the website Reddit has banned the word “groomer.” This providing of cover for child predators prompted a perfect response that coins a new name for Reddit itself.

NPR's New Disonformation Team
NPR announced that it’s creating a “Disinformation Team.” They should’ve cleared up whether its job is to police disinformation or create it, as the GOP members of the House Judiciary Committee immediately reminded us.
DC complains
A lot of leftists in politics and media mocked Texas Gov. Greg Abbott when he started putting illegal immigrants that President Biden let swarm into Texas onto buses and taking them to Washington, DC, where the people responsible for this problem could deal with it. But many busloads later, DC Mayor Murial Bowser was on “Face The Nation” Sunday, griping that DC homeless shelters are overflowing with illegal immigrants and public services are stretched to the limit. She suggested they were “tricked” into coming to DC.
At the risk of being sued by Julie London’s estate, “Cry me a river.” Liberals in DC were more than happy to throw open the border and let cities in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California deal with the crushing problems of crime, drugs, violence and overburdened social services that their disastrous policies created. Now that they’re having to take just a small amount of their own medicine, they’re whining about how bitter it is.
If it’s any consolation to them, they should know that the cities on the border have it much worse than they do. From that linked story:

Texas is going to need a lot more buses if leftist DC politicians are going to take on their “fair share” of the problem they deliberately created.
