BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

More evidence Christians are under assault

By Mike Huckabee

On this holiest of weekends, there is more evidence that Christians are under assault on all fronts from emboldened secular forces on the left. To list just a few headlines from the past couple of days:

Archbishop Joseph Naumann, Chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, is under attack for saying that President Biden should stop claiming to be a “devout Catholic” when he’s actively promoting and funding huge numbers of abortions. Frankly, that not only sounds quite reasonable, it also sounds like exactly what a Catholic Archbishop who’s a chairman of a pro-life committee would be expected to say. I guess my “outrage trigger” just isn’t sensitive enough for these times.

The gay and lesbian group GLAAD is fervently embracing the concept of blacklisting people for their religious beliefs and for not 100% embracing their personal views on sex and politics. And as with many shameless totalitarian censors, blacklisters and inquisitors down through the dark days of history, they’re not much concerned about whether the people they’re trying to destroy are actually guilty or even if the accusers don’t even have their own facts straight.

In a reminder of how important it is that we guard our First Amendment against those that are trying to destroy it, a Christian actress in Great Britain was fired from a production of “The Color Purple” after someone dug up a four-year-old Facebook post in which she said she personally believes in the Biblical view of homosexuality. The Twitter mob made her the object of an organized hate and terror campaign, demanding that the theater fire the “homophobe.” There were even death threats against her. She was fired, dropped by her agency, and blacklisted by the local theater industry. So she appealed her firing to an Employment Tribunal on grounds of religious discrimination.

A spokesperson for a Christian group defending said it should have been an open-and-shut case, since the arguments against her included that her beliefs "were not worthy of respect in a democratic society and of legal protection.” However, the judges not only ruled against her, they also ordered her to pay the other side’s inflated legal costs of $480,000, despite the fact that in that court, both sides are supposed to pay their own costs. It was described as a heavy-handed punitive measure, designed to bully her and all Christian into thinking they can be discriminated against and they’d better not dare to protest.

At the University of North Texas, a conservative Christian group tried what they thought was a fun Easter event by hiding plastic Easter eggs around the campus with positive, non-controversial Bible verses inside. The angry leftist contingent reacted with predictable OUTRAGE and fury, protesting that it’s offensive because not all students are Christian (and would they attack a Muslim or Buddhist event because not all students are Muslim or Buddhist?), organizing to stomp the eggs, and (of course) urging one of the Christian students to kill herself. (Note: our writer Pat Reeder is a UNT honors alumnus, but he says that if these little jerks aren’t expelled, he renounces all ties with his former school.)

With so many of these stories every day, it can be disheartening to fight them. It seems easier just to shut up, keep your head down and let the targets of the left’s crazed wrath twist in the wind. But this is one of those times when you should ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?” Would He want you to keep quiet about your faith and not defend it, or stand up for those who are under assault?

I think the answer can be found in 1 Peter, 3:15-16: “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz Story Update

By Mike Huckabee

UPDATE: I told you about the New York Times allegations of sex trafficking against Rep. Matt Gaetz, and Gaetz’s response that it’s all a lie, that he was actually being extorted by a federal agent or agents, and that his father wore a wire to get evidence on the blackmail plot at the direction of the local Florida FBI office. Here’s what’s happened with that story as of Thursday, and so far, it's looking as if the Times made a lot of allegations based on unnamed sources, but other outlets can’t seem to find any official corroboration that those allegations are part of the DOJ investigation.

As for Gaetz, he tweeted, “The allegations against me are FALSE. The extortion of my family by a former DOJ official is REAL. DOJ has the tapes. Please release them.”

I don’t know what’s the truth, but when the accused is demanding that the evidence be publicly released, then there’s no question that I’m going to second that. If the DOJ or the Times has anything to back up these allegations, then let’s see it. If the DOJ has exculpatory evidence that proves the allegation is false, then let’s see that. Until then, all I know for certain is that there’s no evidence that the New York Times is still “America’s paper of record.”

Disturbing videos from the border

By Mike Huckabee

Warning, these videos are disturbing: Project Veritas released another secretly-made video from the border, exposing the giant humanitarian disaster the Biden White House has caused there. Due to the overflowing detention centers, this video shows migrants packed under a bridge in McAllen, Texas, in a makeshift processing center, sleeping on the dirt with nothing but foil space blankets for warmth. It makes the alleged photos of “kids in cages” (actually taken under Obama) that the left raged at Trump over look like a weekend at the Ritz.

And there is this video, which stirred major outrage: it shows coyotes scaling a 14-foot border fence and dropping two little girls, ages 2 and 5, onto the New Mexico desert on the US side, miles from any help. They are safe now, but only because security officers saw them being dropped there on surveillance cameras and rescued them.

Another child is also lucky that Texas Rangers saw what smugglers did to him, or she might have drowned in the Rio Grande.

When pressed on this by Fox News’ Peter Doocey, Biden spokesperson Jen Psaki seemed more interested in accusing the reporter of wanting to keep out migrants than in the danger to the lives of the children, which did not go unnoticed on social media.

But if she really thinks Americans will overlook these atrocities and buy the White House line that the Biden-created disaster is not so bad, and anyway, somehow all Trump’s fault, then she must be puffing locoweed. Why should we not credit the situation to Biden when even the people creating the situation credit it to Biden?

Great Observation

By Mike Huckabee

Great observation from Prof. Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit, about the Delta Airlines' CEO's condemnation of Georgia's law tightening election security: "My compromise: We won’t require more ID, or longer lines, than Delta does for its flights."

A reader asks about California graduation requirements

By Mike Huckabee

From Carol:

I CHECKED CALIFORNIA'S REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. THEY DO REQUIRE MATH, SCIENCE, ETC.

From the Gov:

Thanks for checking into this; we’d never want to be wrong about any facts we pass along. We went back and double-checked as well, and found that different districts within the state have different requirements. But statewide, the California Education Code specifies the minimum requirement that all must pass. Unless what we have found has recently been updated, we see that California lags behind other states.

For example, California is one of just three states requiring only two years of math --- nothing beyond Algebra I. Most states require three years or more.

Forty-two states require three years of science, but California is one of the few states that require only two years. (We didn’t say that California requires no math or science, just not very much!) One of these courses is physical science, and the other is biology --- and to clarify, this "biology" class is without labs, which most other states have. I also can't help wondering: how much of this lab-free “biology” class is just a politically correct “study” of gender identity?

As more states are getting with the STEM program requiring more math and science, California apparently has not gotten on board. That seems surprising, considering all the technology-based businesses in that state.

Three years are required in “history/social science,” but as they've lumped these together, I’d like to know how much of this is really history and how much is social science. I’m betting it’s mostly social science, and that instruction in American history is minimal and highly slanted.

Again, thanks for writing, Carol. I hope you share my concern about California schools’ focus on ethnic/diversity studies at the expense of other subjects.

In case anyone missed our original story about the California State Board of Education and their unanimous approval of an "ethnic studies" curriculum, and what's in it, here it is.

In case you missed it:  Good Friday

By Mike Huckabee

Today is Good Friday, one of the most important days of the Christian calendar, commemorating the day that Jesus Christ was crucified, sacrificing His life for our sins so that we may have eternal life. And of course, Sunday is the most holy of all Christian holidays, Easter, when we celebrate Christ leaving the tomb to appear before His followers and demonstrate His victory over death.

I hope that this year, your Good Friday observances and Easter celebrations will be better than last year’s, and that you will again be able to gather with your families and attend church.

If ever a people needed to get back to church and to the Word of God, it’s Americans who’ve let themselves be misled into replacing eternal Biblical truths with passing social fashions and their personal feelings, and the COVID shutdowns have only made that dangerous trend worse. Here’s a great article to share with anyone who could use a vaccination against sin and worldly temptations.

A few years ago, the Christian Post printed this article explaining the meaning of each day from Thursday through Sunday. Did you know that each day is a separate holiday: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Resurrection Sunday? It’s fascinating and important to learn about all these symbols because the traditions and symbols serve as reminders of eternal truths that secular forces hostile to Christianity are working diligently to make us all forget.

A Reader Writes Back...

I always enjoy reading what you have in your newsletters and I enjoy how you present it. I especially like reading your Scripture of the Day.

Concerning The "Excluded Workers Fund" article, it sounds like the Democrats are trying to buying votes or someone's pockets are going to get padded for one fictitious reason or another. I believe that this is an excellent waste of taxpayer dollars. But then, it would appear that the Democrats like to waste money.

Thanks.

    Mr Lamarr Zarr
Marjorie Green has introduced Impeachment papers but as the Blue Reich has a slim majority in the House do you think it would go anywhere? How many on their side would grow a pair and vote for it? And if we got rid of Bozo and the Ho guess who is next in line? Pelosi. Oh joy!!

Personally, I enjoy reading your newsletters and also the Daily Verse. I watch your show on television. When will all this hatred and nonsense end? Biden is not mentally okay and Harris is even worse for our country. What will happen to our country if we do not have a leader in the position of President? The DOJ needs to be examined and the stories about what Obama, Soros, Pelosi are doing to our country is frightening!!! Their policies stink and what really scares me is all the power they have and the use of their power. I am very much afraid and I am a 60's generation person.

Mike, I hope this is the last time I feel compelled to make any comments or ask questions as to WHY? But can someone explain to me why NO GOP has had the integrity or intestinal fortitude to bring Impeachment action against the "president?" Are they afraid the VP is worse, then impeach her next...or the speaker of the house is worse than the president or VP then impeach her also...or the next in line. The massive amounts of damages, suffering being produced on not only taxpayers, the illegals, especially the children on both sides of the aisle violates the oath of offices that every Congressperson/Senator swore to uphold in so MANY ways!

I don’t know what I was thinking. Hoping for someone to come up with a solution to the mess that this country has become I suppose. All I’m hearing on all platforms are platitudes. While this once great country falls apart by the hour. So I’m ending all subscriptions. Good luck to America.

This is obnoxious but does GLAAD and their supporters really expect "society" to go "naked" and have sex with any human or any animal anywhere any time ???? I am re-reading Billy Graham's "APPROACHING HOOFBEATS - the Four Horsemen of the APOCALYPSE" copyright 1983 ............ and I am appalled at how accurate it is for today's World !

I rarely express opinions especially on controversial topics but this time I want to make a few observations. It might get me cancelled but here goes.
You often hear the phrase, "We are stronger through diversity." That is not quite complete or right. When you focus on our diversity, that causes division and makes us weaker. When you focus on unity through diversity, that is what makes us stronger. The phrase should be "We are stronger when we are unified through our diversity." We hear so much about race, reparations, critical race theory today. This does not progress us as a culture but leads us all in the wrong direction.
When I was in school, I idolized the person who was the drum major of the high school band. He was in my sister's class. I wanted to be like him. He made so much of an impression that I did become drum major for three of my high school years. He had great character and I admired him. He happened to be black, but I didn't see that - I saw his talent and character.
Those who cannot see past the color of people's skin, sex, or circumstance are themselves racist because they are focusing on race and not on character which is what makes the person. Those who are continually calling everyone else a racist are the ones actually promoting victimhood, division and divisiveness in our culture. This does not make us stronger or better; it does the opposite.
A nation that is divided cannot stand. However, if we are unified as a nation; "one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" then we will be strong when we are unified through our diversity."
I cannot think of a better example of unity through diversity in this Easter season. Christ came and died for all people of every nation, tribe, and tongue (actually the word race is not used in the scripture). If you have committed your life to Christ, He who was gentle and lowly, and accepted His free gift of grace and salvation, then we are all one (unified) in Christ Jesus regardless of nation, tribe or tongue, and yes, race. We are strong in Christ Jesus our Lord; Strong with Unity through diversity. We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord.
Let's get our minds focused on what is important; the free message of the Gospel and come together as a people and a nation. Let us start working for each other's good and not just our own.

You can check with Jack Posobiec, but he just Tweeted the following about a Good Friday Mass in London being shut down as an "unlawful assembly."

BREAKING: London police shut down Catholic mass on Good Friday

    “This gathering is unlawful”

SYSTEMIC RACISM? Father Hesberg thought that the Civil Rights movement was a rightgeous cause and different Christians and Jews thought the cause was worth fighting for. So how did the people who are not pro life and pro God get control of the media. LIFE IS WORTH LIVING and ALL LIVES MATTER should be the slogans worth promoting not one race over all the other races. President Kennedy knew that Castro's Socialism would be counter productive to the Civil Rights movement. Getting fro A to B while being MORAL and telling the TRUTH may be harder but building a relationship built on TRUST is worth the extra effort
