This is a welcome change:
Instead of nothing but bad news from the border, there’s some “good news (sort of)/bad news.”
The bad news you can already guess. It’s a chaotic mess with a huge crush of illegal entrants, and the Biden Administration is doing everything in its power to wave them in while looking like they’re trying to stop them. For instance, they put on a stern face and insist that applicants for asylum will have to go to court hearings…but there’s such a backlog thanks to them that some of those initial hearings won’t even roll around until 2033.
But I try to look on the bright side, so here’s the positive news, such as it is. DHS head Alejandro Mayorkas boasted that there’s been a “50 percent drop” in the number of entrants the Border Patrol was encountering over the past couple of days. He said, “It’s extraordinary what we’ve done over the past 18 months or so.” Finally, he says something I can agree with.
But, a few asterisks: while the numbers are down, that’s not because of anything Biden’s done. Quite the contrary. The numbers dropped because they started out from a record high. And then some action was actually taken to stop the invasion, by soldiers putting up razor wire, blocking pathways and physically repelling entrants. But those soldiers are the Texas National Guard. Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted that Biden sent 1500 troops “to do paperwork,” while “Texas deployed trained soldiers and troopers to take real action.”
So it’s like all the job creation Biden takes credit for: it’s mostly thanks to red states ignoring him completely. We’ll see if Biden is able to find a way to prevent Texas from protecting its own border so the numbers can go back up, which many experts expect to see soon.
And those starving for good border news can leap on this scrap: The federal judge who issued a restraining order blocking Biden’s plan to misuse the “parole with conditions” power to release thousands of illegal aliens in the US without court dates because the holding facilities are full (and why is that, inquiring minds want to know?) refused to lift it. More than that, he branded the request to lift his restraining order “borderline frivolous,” and mocked their arguments as “Chicken Little” alarmism.
The judge pointed out their lack of logical consistency in claiming that (A.) only a tiny fraction of the illegal entrants would be released, and (B.) releasing them is necessary to ease the dangerous overcrowding at migrant facilities. So they’re dangerously overcrowded by a “tiny fraction” of their population?
Mayorkas spent Sunday making the rounds of friendly liberal media outlets to claim that this border disaster is all someone else’s fault and they’ve done a great job on it. That was so mind-boggling that not even Savannah Guthrie at NBC could swallow it.
So far, they’ve blamed it on Congress and Republicans and now they’re blaming the “broken immigration system,” with a side order of blaming Congress for not fixing it. They claim it’s been broken for decades, so it’s not their fault. I recognize that argument (“It was broken when I got here!”) as something kids and grandkids say when you catch them standing over a smashed lamp with a baseball bat in their hands. The system might have been broken, but it wasn’t smashed to pieces until Biden got his hands on it.
But the quote of the day goes to the oligarch of obliviousness, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Ignoring the busloads of illegal aliens arriving from Texas and let off next to her house, Harris said this:
“I hear that everything over the last couple days is going rather smoothly given what the concerns were, and the bottom line, however, is that the issue of immigration falls squarely within the responsibility of the United States Congress. So we've done what we can.”
I immediately thought of the classic Laurel and Hardy comedy “Helpmates.” Stan comes over to help Ollie clean up after a wild party before his wife gets home. By the time he finishes “helping,” Stan is holding a water hose on the smoldering ashes that are all that remain of Ollie’s house. He turns to Ollie and in a perfect Kamala-like delivery, says, “Well…There's nothing else I can do.” To which Ollie replies, “Certainly not.”
The only difference between Biden & Harris and Laurel & Hardy is that when Stan and Ollie burn everything down, it’s funny.
The priorities of open-borders Democrats
In case you’re wondering about the priorities of open-borders Democrats, rest assured that it’s not providing sanctuary for law-abiding citizens or US military veterans. Struggling homeless veterans who were being put up in suburban New York hotels are being moved out to make room for illegal aliens bused in from the Big Apple over local officials’ objections and put up in hotels at taxpayer expense.
Meanwhile, brides who have had wedding party reservations for months at New York City hotels are seeing them canceled so their rooms can go to illegal immigrants.

But I suppose those Americans booted to the curb to make way for illegal immigrants should be grateful. As “progressive” (i.e., far-left) Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington declared last week, the U.S. “needs immigrants” because they “pick the food we eat” and “clean our homes.”
A reminder: the Republican Party was founded to end slavery, and Republican President Abraham Lincoln had to wage a war against Southern Democrats to force them to give up importing an oppressed class of people from Third World nations to do their house and field work for less than they’d have to pay a free American. Today’s Democrats call themselves “progressive” and claim it’s the Republicans who want to “bring back slavery,” even as we’re trying to stop the Democrats from importing an oppressed class of people from Third World countries to do their house and field work for cheap.
This is why the left doesn’t want kids to learn real history. Because they’d like to doom us to repeat it.

President Biden was at Howard University (one of those historically black colleges I seem to recall him claiming he attended…Is that right? It’s getting hard to keep up with all the things he’s claimed to have done), where he was awarded an honorary degree. University President Dr. Wayne Frederick claimed he deserved it because of his “analytical intellect” and “popularity on both sides.” That intro sparked a Hiroshima-level explosion on social media. Some said that with just one sentence, he’d destroyed the credibility of a Howard University degree.
After being lauded for his intellect and bipartisanship, Biden proceeded to make a typically divisive speech, branding “white supremacy” as the biggest terrorist threat to America. His DHS head concurs.
(Note: Under Biden and Mayorkas’ “watch,” nearly 70 people on the FBI’s terror watch list have been caught trying to cross our Southern border since October -- and those are just the ones we caught, so you decide who’s really the biggest threat to America’s national security.)

Biden not only touted unity while painting his political opponents as racist terrorists, he also claimed to be defending truth while repeating known lies, including his frequently-recited and repeatedly debunked falsehood about Trump saying there were “very fine people” among the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville. Although to be fair, with his keen analytical intellect, he might not remember that he’s ever told that story before.

At least Biden can claim that he is unifying Americans by enabling all people of every race and color to share the experience of being called a white supremacist.
Be on the lookout for dangerous, middle-aged, pro-life mothers
It’s good to know that Biden’s Department of Homeland Security isn’t just focusing on the terrorist threat of parents who don’t want critical race theory and drag queens in elementary schools, or Hispanic white supremacists. They’re also reportedly training agents to spot and monitor the terrorist threat posed by middle-aged, pro-life mothers.
I could comment, but America First Legal senior counselor Reed Rubenstein already summed it up perfectly:
“The Department of Homeland Security’s transformation into a domestic intelligence organization and a Stasi-like Deep State internal security apparatus is alarming. It is a very long way from ‘see something, say something’ regarding an unattended suitcase at the airport to profiling patriotic and politically conservative Americans as abusive parents and domestic terrorists because they oppose abortion on demand and voted for former President Trump.”

Taking over Mother's Day
Add something new to the list of things for women that the “trans” movement wants to take over: Mother’s Day.
On Sunday, social media was awash with tearful messages from “trans” women, crying that they feel excluded by Mother’s Day, demanding that Mother’s and Father’s Day be combined into a gender-neutral “Parents Day,” and insisting that “trans women can be moms, too.” I’m pretty sure that’s biologically impossible.
As for the one who sobbed that “Mother’s Day is tomorrow, I feel like a mom, but who celebrates me?...It bothers me a lot,” the perfect reply came from the Males In Disguise Twitter account: “Only on the Internet can a man try to make Mother’s Day about himself.”
And in other “trans” news…
A Nashville judge has obtained a copy of the unredacted “manifesto” of the female-to-male “trans” mass murderer who killed six people at Covenant Christian School, but it’s still not clear when or if it will ever be released.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a lower court judge and ruled that the Professional Disc Golf Association can exclude biological males from women’s tournaments. They’re being sued by “trans” competitor Natalie Ryan, who claims it’s discrimination not to let people who’ve undergone puberty as males and have superior upper body strength from a women’s sport largely dependent on throwing power. Apparently, Ryan gets extremely upset over anything that smacks of unfairness.

The truth about San Francisco
Rick Moran of PJ Media has the tale of a leftwing journalist who set out to do a story for New York Magazine, debunking all those rightwing slanders about her hometown of San Francisco.
But it ended up starting with an apology to her fellow San Franciscans because, upon investigating, she discovered that the horror stories were true. I hate to tell her this, but she might be drummed out of the Democratic Party for being unable to deny reality.
Related: At a comedy show in San Francisco, Dave Chappelle asked the audience, “What the (BLEEP) happened to this place?” He said the city had become “half ‘Glee,’ half zombie movie” and told them they “need a Batman.”
You won’t be surprised to learn that a “culture blogger” in the crowd was highly offended and wrote that this is more proof of how Chappelle has become lazy, transphobic and unfunny, and that his material is “irresponsible” and “dangerous” and filled with hateful, rightwing “dog whistles.” He fumed, “I personally think that extraordinarily influential people like Chappelle should be held accountable for their words...” But sadly, the audience was just too uninformed to see these subtle nuances that only he could see, so they laughed. Imagine laughing at a comedy show! Those insensitive nazis!

Defending Daniel Penny
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is prosecuting Marine veteran Daniel Penny for second degree manslaughter in the death of Jordan Neely, an often-arrested, mentally unstable homeless man who was threatening passengers on the subway. Penny’s attorneys say he was holding Neely in a submission hold, not a choke hold, and he did not intend to harm him, just to subdue him until the police arrived. Video showed some of the passengers thanking Penny for protecting them.
Bragg’s critics say he’s discouraging Good Samaritans from stepping up and risking helping others, and they believe he’s not doing this because of justice or the law, but to appease protesters trying to turn it into another racial incident. He’s also once again prosecuting someone for defending themselves against a criminal who was repeatedly released without prosecution by his office.
Neely had been arrested dozens of times, but instead of being jailed or given mental treatment, he was put right back on the streets and subways to menace the public. If he had been where he should have been, there would have been no need to subdue him. So if manslaughter is the crime of killing someone without directly intending it to happen, Bragg should be prosecuting himself.
Obviously, a lot of people are fed up with the cycle of criminal catch-and-release because a legal defense fund was set up for Daniel Penny, and it’s already raised nearly $2 million.
Ferrari isn't changing to electric
If you have an inexplicable dream of owning an electric-powered Ferrari, I’m afraid it’s going to remain a dream. The company announced that it has no intention of phasing out its 8- and 12-cylinder, gas-powered, internal combustion engines. So good news: when your EV battery dies in a traffic jam, there’s a chance that whoever comes to rescue you will be in a Ferrari!

A new record for Netflix
Netflix’s attempt to rewrite history by making Cleopatra black might have incensed historians and gotten them sued by the nation of Egypt, but on the bright side, they can say that it’s set a new audience score record on Rotten Tomatoes.
"Biden Inc." and the See-No-Evil Media
With more information coming out all the time about “Biden Inc.” and denials being blown out of the water, the White House and its media minions are down to one defense: “There’s no hard proof of Joe Biden’s personal benefit and none of a specific quid pro quo.”
Never mind the email in which Hunter complains about having to give his dad half his income, or President Biden’s unexplained wealth for many years, or Hunter’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski saying “the Big Guy” was definitely Joe Biden. No, nothing to see here.
But we’re down to this now --- finding the hard proof that President Biden benefited personally, starting at least as far back as when he was Vice President. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, says his probe of Biden family business dealings has moved beyond examining lucrative overseas business payments to “determining whether Joe Biden corruptly took policy actions to enrich his family.”
“This is an investigation of the president of the United States for public corruption,” he told investigative reporter John Solomon at JUST THE NEWS.
We all know that if there had been similar allegations about President Trump, THE NEW YORK TIMES and WASHINGTON POST would swiftly have “convicted” him of bribery and treason in the court of public opinion, with or without proof. The coverage would have been ghastly. He would’ve been removed from office, and he and other family members tried and imprisoned. But even if Biden really did benefit, as evidence does suggest, it’s not going to work like that, and actually shouldn’t. Guilt does have to be proved. On the other hand, if the evidence shows this beyond a reasonable doubt, as Comer believes it will, we can’t let the two-tiered ‘justice’ system protect him.
Comer said that the major banks handling Biden family accounts and flagging all those Suspicious Activity Reports had concerns for years about money laundering. And he added, “What about racketeering? Racketeering is when you create shell companies and fake companies that serve no purpose other than to launder money.” That certainly appears to be what Comer’s committee has laid out; if you haven’t taken the time to read their 36-page report, here’s another opportunity…

Solomon details a series of transactions between corrupt Romanian company Bladon Enterprises between 2015 and 2017 that either are money laundering or do a remarkable impression of it. The money stops flowing after Joe leaves the Vice Presidency.
And after looking at congressional reports and business documents, DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION reports that Shanghai Huaxin Group, the Hong Kong corporation that allegedly wired funds to Hunter Biden’s business in 2017, was controlled by a Shanghai firm that was in turn controlled by members of the CCP, some of whom had previously served in the People’s Liberation Army. Read this article and be shocked at who has sent money to the Bidens.

Recall that White House spokesperson Ian Sams ludicrously claimed that Comer’s investigation was “baseless,” “fact-free,” “evidence-free” and “absurd.” The funniest part of this was that he didn’t even wait for the report to come out to say it.
It’s obvious now that President Biden must have known about Hunter’s businesses and even participated to some extent, if only to satisfy the oligarchs’ desire for “introductions” and photo ops. And even that minimal level of involvement would mean he’s been repeatedly lying in his denials to the American people. What else might Biden have delivered? That’s what Comer is working on now.
It’s interesting that the ‘Justice’ Department has held off indicting Hunter. Comer had been concerned that they might quickly charge him with narrow tax violations in order to dispense with the case before the committee came out with its report. But the report is out, and they still haven’t charged him with anything. Solomon says only that Hunter’s legal team is “expecting” he’ll be charged soon.
“The damage that Joe Biden has done to the reputation of the United States is almost irreparable,” Comer told Solomon. “[Through those bank records]...he’s made the United States look like some of these third world countries that presidents have in the past criticized for corruption.”
“We presented a pattern of payments from adversaries and foreign nationals all over the world,” he said. “...We want to know what they did to get the money; you know, what service was provided. Or what did Joe Biden do to provide a return on their investment for the millions of dollars that his family received…”
But perhaps even a worse look for the United States is this look at our own system: “Right now the biggest obstacle for me getting the facts is our own government, is the Department of Justice, is the FBI. And that’s unacceptable.” Comer had less-than-flattering things to say about FBI Director Chris Wray, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and the adversarial media essentially creating a news blackout.

SIDE NOTE: On Sunday, Rep. Comer said the committee had “lost track” of the chief witness against the Bidens and suggested witnesses were being intimidated. But Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene later tweeted, “Just to be clear: Our whistleblower for Joe Biden is not missing.” I assume there will be more on this story at a later time.
RELATED: Legal analyst Margot Cleveland has plenty of ideas for getting to the bottom of that “classic earmarks” letter signed by 51 former intel officials who hadn’t even seen any contents of the laptop. As she says, we already know there was “extensive coordination” between the Biden campaign and those behind the letter. The House committees need to read her handy roadmap, and you should, too.
Incidentally, John Solomon also found by looking through FEC records that at least 12 of those 51 signatories donated to Biden’s presidential campaign and/or “victory committee.” All were contacted by JUST THE NEWS for comment, but none responded.
Former Deputy Director of National Intelligence Kash Patel called this “somewhat concerning,” but he was more concerned about then-CIA Director Gina Haspel’s involvement. She apparently encouraged people inside the building to sign it. It’s illegal for the CIA to conduct operations on American soil or to target anyone for political reasons. They aren’t supposed to meddle in domestic affairs. Full details here…

And Miranda Devine, who broke the laptop story in the NEW YORK POST, has a magnificent, must-read opinion piece about it. She picks apart the Judicial and Intel Committee Democrats’ response to the majority’s findings, noting that “every sentence is false or misleading...”
Under the same system of ‘justice’ that gives President Biden the kid glove treatment, President Trump has been indicted by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. Recall that former prosecutor Mark Pomerantz, who dramatically quit and wrote a hit-piece book after Bragg’s hesitation early-on to indict Trump, was subpoenaed to testify before Congress and pleaded the Fifth, saying, ironically, that he wouldn’t cooperate with “this performance of political theatre.” Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz has some choice words for him.
Has Dan Bongino been reading the newsletter?
One of my writers has been convinced for years and has been sounding the alarm that the Democrat plan for continued political domination by the Obama Machine would involve bringing in Michelle Obama as the presidential nominee. It’s grown increasingly likely that Joe Biden will not be making it to the finish line this time, Kamala Harris is a nonstarter (besides, she’s too busy solving our crisis at the border and thwarting AI), and they need someone with the “wow” factor, especially if Trump is the GOP nominee.
Of course, we can’t say for sure and have no inside information on this, but doubters might want to heed Dan Bongino’s comment in his podcast last Friday, in answer to a question on whether or not this might happen. “I have nightmares, Dan,” it read. Bongino said, “Folks, listen. I would’ve told you six months ago that this idea is totally crazy and nuts. Not anymore. The Democrats hate Trump so much --- I think there’s probably a 30 to 40 percent chance that could happen [with] Michelle Obama.”
