DAILY BIBLE VERSE
This verse was recommended by Patrick B.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Philippians 3:13-14 NLT

2. Happy New Year:
Happy New Year! I’m sure you’re just as overjoyed to be saying goodbye to 2021 as we were one year ago to be seeing the last of 2020. One year ago today, many of us were very concerned about what was going to happen with the Democrats once again set to assume control of both the White House and Congress. But at least we thought 2021 would be the year when we’d turn the corner on COVID panic. We had vaccines developed in record time under President Trump, and we assumed we’d finally see the end of lockdowns, shutdowns, social distancing and washing our hands until they looked like prunes.
There was real optimism that 2021 would be the year we turned the corner. Unfortunately, it seemed that around every corner was yet another corner, until we ended up right back where we started. Worse, it seemed that the people in power were actively trying to extend the pandemic as long as possible, both because it increased government power and it gave the media a distraction from the massive failures of their policies on every front. But as polls show, that didn’t fool the public.
Joe Biden ran on a promise to be a moderate who would unite the country, yet from his first day in office, whether out of spite or fealty to the far left, he began reversing every successful Trump policy that had given us record low unemployment, rising wages, secure borders, energy independence and spreading peace in the Middle East. At least he finally stopped promoting distrust in the Trump vaccines and started taking credit for them instead.
2021 saw Biden’s calls for historic levels of government spending hurl the economy into the highest rates of inflation in 39 years, inflation being a regressive tax that harms the poor and middle class the most. Ironically, what he considers his biggest failure of 2021 was failing to pass yet another massive spending bill that was so bad, even Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin couldn’t bring himself to vote for it, despite tremendous pressure from the left. To economic geniuses like Bernie Sanders and AOC, the only problem with the bill was that it didn’t call for spending even more trillions of dollars that we don’t have.
2021 was a year in which issues of public health became as thoroughly corrupted by politics as our “Justice” Department under Merrick Garland did. Mask mandates and school shutdowns continued despite evidence of their futility. Biden broke his promise not to try to impose vaccine mandates, an egregious abuse of power that’s divided America, punished heroes like our military members and front line medical workers, and left us with even worse worker shortages. Complaining at a school board meeting about your kids being indoctrinated with racism, socialism and gay porn could get you branded a “domestic terrorist.” Crime is out of control, thanks to leftist DA’s refusing to prosecute criminals. And thanks to the short-sightedness and incompetence of this Administration, store shelves in the USA shockingly are bare due to a supply chain disaster, while the unqualified Transportation Secretary took two months of parental leave without bothering to tell anyone.
But maybe on this New Year’s Day, we can muster some hope that 2022 really will be a year in which we finally turn the corner and this time make a RIGHT turn, both ideologically and politically.
Parents across the country are so fed up that they’re refusing to be intimidated by the Attorney General’s unconstitutional threats and showing up at the polls to vote leftist school board members out. We’ve seen the “Let's Go, Brandon” groundswell in elections around the country, including in Virginia, where a political novice defeated a Democrat ex-Governor who was once considered a shoo-in; and in New Jersey, where a truck driver who spent less than $200 in his primary ousted the powerful Democrat Senate President who was the longest-serving member of the State Senate.
The Democrats have seen the dismal polls (even minority voters are turning away) and stunning election results and realized the jig is up and a red tsunami may be forming. We’re already starting to see frantic attempts to roll back some of their draconian policies on COVID and “climate change,” with some actually yielding to reality and admitting they were wrong about things that got you banned from social media for saying a year ago. Things like Dr. Fauci finally admitting that the CDC’s tally of COVID hospitalizations includes a lot of people who just incidentally tested positive for COVID, but weren’t hospitalized because of it.
Ben Shapiro compiled a Twitter thread of leftist back-pedaling…

And the climate change panic mongers are suddenly being forced to deal with the alien concepts of math and science…
The election is still 11 months away, and as they say, things can change. But any improvements that would save the Democrats’ bacon would require either leftist policies suddenly starting to work (which history tells us they won’t) or the Dems realizing the ideas they believe are terrible and changing them (ditto re: history.) So it’s no wonder that about two dozen House Democrats have already announced plans to get out while the getting is good and not run for reelection.
Still, since they know the end of their power is likely coming, they will be trying in every way they can to shove as much bad policy onto us as possible before they’re kicked out, while working tirelessly to undo laws that protect election integrity and win through lawsuits what they can’t win honestly at the polls. Republicans had better brace to fight them hard on all fronts.
Let’s all pray that 2022 will be the year Americans again realize that this is a great country worth loving. Hopefully, we will brutally reject the politics and policies of those who say America is evil and systemically racist. If that were true, we wouldn’t have such a long line of people trying to break into this country and no line of people trying to break out.
But I think we SHOULD form a line for those who hate America and we will offer them a one-way ticket to the country of their choice. In the meantime, we have a chance to defeat those politicians at the local, state and national level who prefer socialism. We have an opportunity to slow and perhaps even stop the long slide toward failure. If we do that, 2022 really will be a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

4. Left of Left:
Here's more proof that today’s left is too far left even for yesterday’s left: A leftist NYU professor who came out of the 1960s counterculture movement says that he’s “shocked and repelled” by “what the so-called left has become today.”
Prof. Mark Crispin, who recently survived an attempt to “cancel” him, told the Epoch Times that today’s left is what he used to think of as the far-right: elitists who hate the working class (note how they smear blue collar Trump supporters as racists and white supremacists.) He says that BLM is “basically a brand” that screams about things like statues of Confederate generals but does nothing to address real problems in today’s African-American communities. And he finds it “mind-boggling” that leftist movements like BLM and Critical Race Theory are taking us on a giant step backwards into racist notions like segregated dining halls and branding all white people as white supremacists.
That’s so spot-on true that I’m not only amazed it came from a self-proclaimed leftist college professor but that he actually survived the attempt to cancel him.
(Note: never let it be said we don’t give both sides of the story. He says something about Dr. Fauci that Snopes.com claims isn’t true. Here’s their response:

5. 10 Worst Things:
Mark Thiessen of the Washington Post lists the 10 worst things President Biden did in 2021. To paraphrase “Jaws,” he’s gonna need a bigger list.
https://www.aei.org/op-eds/the-10-worst-things-biden-did-in-2021/
To be fair, he also listed the 10 best things Biden did, although several are continuations of Trump policies that he actually didn’t reverse.

7. When you’re in a hole, stop digging::
AOC, called out for partying maskless in Miami while her NYC district is fighting record COVID infections, tried to turn the tables by attacking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for allegedly not showing up to work for two weeks. In actuality, he did work during that time, both in the office and remotely, because he was accompanying his wife as she received treatment for breast cancer.
I guess some socialists have to wear designer shoes because they taste better when you keep sticking your foot in your mouth.
8. RIP, TV Icon Betty White:
By “Huckabee” pop culture guru Pat Reeder (http://www.hollywoodhifi.com)
As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, beloved comic actress and multiple Emmy winner (five Prime Time and two Daytime) Betty White died at home on Friday of natural causes at 99. Her last tweet was a reference to her 100th birthday, which was coming up in just three weeks. Here is an obituary from Fox News…

Some tributes from other celebrities, who remember her as warm, wonderful and the consummate professional…
https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/betty-white-celebrities-react-death
And one of her last statements to the media, where she shared with Fox News the secret to a long, happy life that she got from her mother.

I’m not going to attempt to recap her remarkable career because there are so many tributes to her everywhere you look this weekend. I’ll just share some of the more interesting tidbits of info that others might overlook. For instance…
Betty White probably had the longest TV career in history, a record that’s unlikely to be broken. Her first TV appearance was right out of high school, singing a song on an experimental broadcast in 1939, eight years before the birth of TV as a public entertainment medium. She was on TV before anyone even had a TV.
She put her career on hold during World War II to serve in the American Women’s Voluntary Services. She drove supply trucks to barracks in the Hollywood Hills and entertained soldiers at dances. Here’s a tribute to her from the Army, complete with a photo of Betty looking sharp in her uniform.
https://people.com/tv/u-s-army-remembers-betty-white-wwii-service-a-true-legend/
She was the first woman to co-host a talk show, and the first to produce and host her own talk show. She hosted a show that was live and on the air 5-1/2 hours a day, six days a week, for over four years. She was also a pioneer of integration: one of her cast members was a black dancer, and when some Southern TV stations threatened not to air the show if she didn't fire him, she refused and told them to get over it.
She received her first Emmy nomination way back in 1953 as the star of the sitcom “Life With Elizabeth.” It's since entered the public domain so you can find it online and on DVD.
While many actors are lucky to have one signature role, Betty had at least three: “Happy Homemaker” Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show;” the sweetly daffy Rose Nylund on “The Golden Girls,” and cantankerous Elka Ostrovsky on “Hot In Cleveland.” She also had memorable roles on countless other shows, including “Boston Legal,” and continued creating memorable pop culture moments well into her 90s, such as her Snickers “football player” commercial and her triumphant hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live,” the result of a fan petition drive. I can imagine them asking her if she could handle doing live TV for ninety minutes!
The producers of “The Golden Girls” originally intended Betty for the role of Blanche, but she didn’t want to play another promiscuous party girl like Sue Ann Nivens. Meanwhile, Rue McClanahan didn’t want to play another sweet, naïve character like the one she’d played on “Maude.” So they switched roles and the rest is history.
Betty devoted much of her time to her love of animals and raising money for animal charities and zoos. She was especially delighted when Pixar asked her to voice a toy tiger named “Bitey White” in “Toy Story 4.”
Betty’s many talents also included being one of the greatest talk show and game show guests of all time. She was a wizard on “Password,” and host Allen Ludden became her third husband and the great love of her life. She never married again after his death in 1981. She said she’d already had the best, and she had faith that they would be together again someday.
RIP to the lady aptly dubbed "America's grandmother" and “The First Lady of Television.”
