1. DAILY BIBLE VERSE
He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?

MORNING NEWS:
2. Major J6 participants let off the hook --- WHY?:
This is a premium story, part of our new, "Free Speech Edition" on Substack.com. To subscribe go here.
Perhaps Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was feeling the need to redeem himself after referring to January 6 protesters at the Capitol Hill riot as “terrorists.” But on Tuesday, for whatever reason, he was in top form during questioning of Jill Sanborn, the executive assistant director for the FBI’s national security branch. He zeroed in on whether the FBI had played a role in the day’s events –- specifically, whether they had coordinated in any way with a mysterious man named Ray Epps. A strong, flat-out denial of Epps’ involvement would have gone a long way towards mitigating any suspicion held against the FBI, but Sanborn wouldn’t answer any questions about him. Let’s talk about why that might be.

3. UPDATE --- Reaction to Biden's obscene "voting rights" speech:
On Tuesday, the offensive individual who currently occupies the White House gave such a nasty, dishonest and divisive speech about so-called "voting rights" that our commentary turned out to be part of a huge and richly-deserved backlash.
On Wednesday, Sen. Mitch McConnell said that while he has "known, liked and respected" Biden for many years, he "did not recognize "the man at the podium yesterday." Here are Sen. McConnell's remarks from the Senate floor --- highly recommended reading.
We're mystified as to what it was in past years that caused Sen. McConnell to respect him, as Biden has been telling huge whoppers for a very long time, but whatever it was, it appears to be over now.
"The President did not get a mandate to transform America or reshape society," McConnell said. "But he did arguably get a mandate to do just one central thing that he campaigned on. Here's what that was: bridge a divided country, lower the temperature, dial down the perpetual air of crisis in politics...It is the one job citizens actually hired him to do."
McConnell is right --- Biden was presented during the 2020 campaign as the amiable, low-key personality who would calm things down and bring us together. That "unifying" persona was marketed to America like a box of bland, comforting cereal, and unfortunately a lot of Americans bought it. It's undoubtedly the main reason Biden got the support that he did. But in just one year, especially with his vile race-baiting rhetoric, he has "fundamentally transformed" that fake persona he was using and given us a look at who he really is. It's not pretty.

5. Biden's Reality:
I wrote yesterday about the bizarre fantasy bubbles that leftists are retreating into as their plans collapse around them and the people start to revolt, like Nero playing his fiddle as Rome burns down around him. As an example, I cited Kevin Drum’s jaw-dropping claim that Biden is being unfairly criticized for his handling of the economy, which is actually doing great, even better than two years ago, and a little inflation is a small price to pay for all this success.
Actually, thanks to inflation, there are no small prices to pay for anything. These days, you even have to pay more than a dollar at Dollar Tree. And it doesn’t do much good for wages to rise 4.7% when inflation is up by 7%.
Maybe this new Quinnipiac University poll will puncture that bubble and let some reality in:
It found that Biden’s approval rating has sunk even lower to just 33% (35% among registered voters), and the fall is led by his handling of the economy. His approval is at 39% on his handling of COVID, 35% on foreign policy (they must’ve polled in China, Iran and Afghanistan to get it that high), and 34% on the economy. That’s 14 points lower than Trump’s approval on the economy at the same point, and he was under relentless assault by the media for everything he did.
It’s easy to see why Biden has such a dismal rating, since only 2% of respondents described the economy as “excellent,” 28% said it’s “good,” 35% said “not so good,” and 35% said it’s “poor.”
If Democrats really want to convince voters that the economy is doing great, then they’d better hope their lapdog media outlets start hiring a lot of hypnotists between now and November.

It was also just reported that in December, the producer price index (inflation on the wholesale level) soared by 9.7%, the highest jump on record.

6. Fact-Check (A Real One):
No, President Biden was never arrested while valiantly engaging in 1960’s civil rights protests. From his statement (“It seems like yesterday, the first time I got arrested”), he apparently thinks he was arrested more than once when he wasn’t arrested at all. As I noted yesterday, he also compared anyone who opposes his “Legalize Vote Fraud” bill to George Wallace, forgetting that he used to brag about being praised by George Wallace.
I don’t know if this is a “senior moment” or an outright lie (recall that his 1988 presidential bid was derailed by his lying about his background by plagiarizing another politician’s speech), but either way, it’s not true.
As for the rest of his “Old man yells at clouds” speech, in which he angrily branded anyone who disagrees with him as another George Wallace, Bull Connor or Jefferson Davis (all segregationist Democrats, by the way): his spokesperson Jen Psaki was asked about the widespread outraged and offended reactions. She called them “hilarious.”
Here’s what Mitch McConnell, a man who’s known and worked with Biden for years and who could have been an important ally if Biden had actually kept his promise to be a bipartisan uniter, had to say about that speech. See if you think it’s “hilarious.”
McConnell said Biden "called millions of Americans his domestic enemies" and "shouted that if you disagree with him, you’re George Wallace…If you don’t pass the laws he wants, you’re Bull Connor, and if you oppose giving Democrats untrammeled, one-party control of the country, well, you’re Jefferson Davis. How profoundly, profoundly unpresidential. Look, I’ve known, liked, and personally respected Joe Biden for many years. I did not recognize the man at the podium yesterday."
If Jen Psaki finds that “hilarious,” then I don’t think the word means what she thinks it means.
7. Memo to the DOJ:
This is what an actual domestic terrorist attack looks like. And no, liberal media, I’m not talking about his car that, according to your reporting, somehow drove itself into a Christmas parade.
