As of Thursday, 194 people are confirmed dead in the aftermath of the catastrophic Hurricane Helene in Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina and Virginia. Over half the deaths are in North Carolina. Hundreds of people are missing, and about a million remain without power. Homes, businesses and even entire towns have been destroyed or swept away in the flooding. And making the rescue operation even harder, more storms are moving that way. Please join me in praying for the safety of everyone affected.
The story of grandparents Martha and Jerry Savage of Beach Island, South Carolina, was one of many heartbreaking reports.

But with so many people suffering, another frustrating story is arising, and that’s how the government response has not only been inadequate, in some ways, it’s making things worse. Local rescue officials and volunteers say they’re trying to work with the feds, but they’re directly blocking their efforts to find and rescue people.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg faced angry backlash after the government declared a no-fly zone for private drones, which were being used to locate victims and deliver supplies to them. Rescuers with private helicopters were threatened with arrest for taking off to pick up people in “restricted air space.” Volunteers who rescued victims brought them to hotels only to find there was no room because they were filled up with federal employees. Many complained that President Biden’s visit was nothing but a brief photo op, but a 30-mile wide swath of air space was closed down for four hours because of his flight, blocking urgent search and rescue flights.
And then, there’s FEMA, which has been exposed as having suffered more erosion under Biden and Harris than the shoreline did from Hurricane Helene. We’ve discovered that the one-time emergency response agency prioritized DEI and climate change over actual emergency response, while Biden and Harris blew nearly a billion dollars of its budget on rent vouchers, food, gift cards and other freebies to the illegal aliens they let in over their open border, many of whom we now know are convicted criminals, leaving FEMA’s budget too depleted to make it through hurricane season.
To add insult to injury, Harris announced that taxpaying American citizens who lost everything in the hurricane would be given a whopping $750.

The latest: FEMA is finally getting supplies on the ground, and posting videos online, telling people who need help to contact them by phone or Internet. One problem: These people have no phone or Internet service.
FEMA also has MEDEVAC helicopters, cargo planes, ambulances and other equipment just sitting in Greenville, South Carolina, doing nothing.
Fox News’ Jesse Watters reported that sources said over a thousand troops are sitting around in North Carolina, waiting for orders that haven’t come (it’s as if we don’t have a President, or anyone in charge of federal agencies who was chosen because they were competent.) One video went viral of a man in his car who seemed on the verge of a nervous breakdown, tearfully describing how his community was decimated and demanding, “Where is our (bleeping) government?!” He mentions that he was an avid Kamala supporter, but I'd say his faith in the compassion of big government proved to be tragically misplaced.
Here's the full segment from Watters’ show. It is a must-see, and I hope a real eye opener for a lot of people.

Despite the lack of help from our Keystone Kop Administration, there are thousands of brave volunteers often having to work around the official rescuers, using their own boats, helicopters, drones and even mules to get supplies to stranded victims and bring others to safety. They are genuine American heroes. They include the volunteers of Samaritan’s Purse, which I strongly urge you to support. You can donate to their relief effort here:
Saturday on my TBN show, I’ll have Cissie Graham Lynch of Samaritan’s Purse as a guest, and she’ll tell us more about their widespread relief efforts.
As always when our fellow Americans are in trouble, people from around the nation put aside superficial differences like politics and race and come together to help – something that’s easy to forget with so many people these days deriving their wealth and power from sowing divisiveness. In the midst of so much suffering and tragedy, I want to share this image and this story of American resilience and determination, to give you a ray of hope.
RELATED: FEMA is dismissing as “misinformation” the “rumor” that it doesn’t have enough money to get through hurricane season. Then it had better censor DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, because he’s the one who said they don’t have enough money.

And yes, they really did spend close to a billion dollars on illegal aliens. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has a good suggestion for how they might allocate their budget more wisely.
ALSO RELATED: I don’t want to believe that the government would let election year politics affect who gets emergency aid, but unfortunately, this Administration has made it too easy for some people to believe that.
I think the most generous response is to remember the rule known as Hanlon’s Razor: “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”
