Hard to believe
A White House official denied that President Biden and Vice President Harris knew the FBI was going to raid former President Trump’s house, emailing the Epoch Times, “We did not have notice of the reported action and would refer you to the Justice Department for any additional information.”
I find that hard to believe, although after seeing these two stories, it is easier to believe that Biden is unaware of anything that's going on around him.
That last story, recounting a string of nonsense out of Biden’s mouth including his claim about controlling the weather, reminds me of the old saying about how everyone complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it. Who knew that if we just gave a few hundred billion dollars to Democrats, they could control the weather for us?
The real reason for the raid
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was (of course) on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show Monday night, where he seemed a bit reluctant to join in the host’s glee over the Trump raid. Instead, he gave away the real impetus behind it, ludicrously suggesting that it might hurt Republicans in the upcoming elections because if voters want to protect democracy and the rule of law, they’ll keep Democrats in power. Yes, nothing screams “democracy and the rule of law” like one-sided, due-process free show trials and armed law enforcement raids targeting political opponents.
Nick Arama at Redstate.com has reactions and more info from members of the Trump family about the FBI’s raid on former President Trump’s home.
Perhaps the most ridiculous claim thus far: that the raid was sparked by a dispute with the National Archives over the speed of sorting through records. Not only were negotiations with that agency reportedly going well, but can you imagine the National Archives calling out armed FBI agents to raid a former President’s home because he wasn’t sending them his own papers fast enough? By what authority would that agency even have such powers?
That excuse is so transparent, it’s obvious the people making it don’t expect anyone to believe it. They just hope enough people are stupid enough not to think about it or biased enough to play along with it that they can slide by with it. News flash: they will not.
Very pointed questions
Sen. Mike Lee is not only on the Senate Judiciary Committee, he’s an attorney and former federal prosecutor, and he has some very pointed questions he wants the FBI and Attorney General Merrick Garland to answer. And no, they’re not general questions like, “Do you think America is a banana republic?”

The comments also include some good points, like reminding us that James Comey took classified documents when he left office, and the FBI agreed to meet him at his home and collect them, with no warrants, raids or charges. Also that Barack Obama emailed Hillary Clinton on her private server that we know contained classified documents, but the FBI didn’t raid his home to see if his computer held copies of them.
Just hours after the FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago, former President Trump posted a new campaign video on his Truth Social site. The theme is that we are “a nation in decline,” but “it is time to start talking about greatness for our country again,” and “the best is yet to come.” Wow, sounds so insurrection-y. And Another One Bites The Dust
After a loooong ballot count in Washington State’s 3rd House District GOP primary, Rep. Jaimie Herrera Beutler has fallen behind challenger Joe Kent, becoming the third Republican who voted to impeach Trump who’s lost her seat.
Kent, an America-First Republican, Gold Star widower and U.S. Army Special Forces veteran, will face Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in November.
The weaponization of law enforcement
It’s obvious that the weaponization of law enforcement to target political opponents is not confined only to Democrats at the federal level. State-level Dem office holders are watching and learning, and they need to be reined in, too, by voters prying them away from any levers of power.
Here are just two examples that appeared the same day as the raid on Trump’s home:
Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder Dean C. Logan is refusing to allow outside monitors in the room when they count and verify the signatures on a petition to recall Soros-backed, one-man-crime-wave District Attorney George Gascon.
Logan claims legal monitoring standards don’t apply because this is “not a normal election.” But petition organizers say the law clearly states that recalls are elections and the process should be public. They suspect that having seen criminal-coddling San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin get the boot, the Dems in power in L.A. are determined to disqualify enough of the 717,000 signatures to get it below the required threshold of 566,857 to place it on the ballot. For some mysterious reason, that will be a lot easier if nobody is watching.
Playing games in the Michigan AG race
Meanwhile, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is reportedly searching for a special prosecutor to investigate one of her leading Republican challengers, Matt DePerno, on suspicions of engaging in a “conspiracy” to illegally obtain and examine a voting machine.
For the record, DePerno says this is a political attack and that he had nothing to do with obtaining or examining the voting machine. His only connection is that the people who did examine it shared a report with him that found it had a 68.0% error rate and should not have been used in Michigan, where the allowable maximum error rate by law is 0.008%.
Well, you can see why the Democrats wouldn’t want an Attorney General in office who’d be concerned about something like that.
Investigate Wray
Last week, when FBI Director Christopher Wray appeared before the Senate, his excuse for not answering more questions from Republicans was that he had to catch a plane. That implied that he was rushing to make a commercial jet, which turned out not to be true. It was dishonest and misleading (no surprise), but not technically perjury. However, the true story is a new scandal that deserves attention:
It’s been reported that Wray was taking a taxpayer-funded government private jet to a fishing vacation in the Adirondacks. Certainly nothing so urgent that he had to duck out of questioning, and it would have waited for him to arrive. But as Bonchie at Redstate.com asks, since when is it legal for government officials other than the President to use government jets for personal trips? Or was his lake vacation “official business?”
Congressional Republicans need to add this to the long list of things to investigate about Wray and the FBI. And if this one slip results in Wray taking his next long vacation in the Gray Bar Hotel, that’s fine. After all, it took a tax evasion charge to finally rid America of Al Capone.
